Hello LadyThompson and congratulations!

I'm a few weeks behind you but just about in maternity clothes already.

I had twins last time though so my uterus didn't need much coaxing to expand again! It's always a crap time until you get a proper bump,as you do just feel chubby - it'll all balance out once your bump develops!

Nolda good luck with the scan - keep us posted.

Mibbes wakey wakey! I am knackered too - I'm working from home today, went upstairs to get dressed at about 8am and fell asleep on my bed for an hour! Woke up in a mad panic as I had to ring a client at 9!

I'm relieved to hear everyone else is still tired - you almost think that by this stage the tiredness should be reducing but there's still a few more weeks to go for me.

Booked nuchal scan this morning for next Friday. Am slightly nervous that all is okay (am 33 so getting towards the higher risk age but not too bad) but more just so excited about seeing little billie again!

artichokes · 02/06/2008 14:04

Welcome LadyThompson, I saw your thread about your CVS and was so glad when you got the all clear.

I am due Dec 10 with number 2. I am not in maternity clothes yet but I am starting to feel uncomfortable in some of my normal clothes. I have been very sick with this pregnancy and actually lost 5lbs, but now I am eating again and am just 1 lb below my pre-conception weight. THe transitional/podgy period is very hard if you want to look good. I went to Primark last time and got a few cheap clothes that were one size up from my normal size, they got me through until a bump appeared and I could wear proper maternity gear.

pixsix · 02/06/2008 14:06

Hi Everyone,

Just been and bought 2 pairs of maternity trousers and am only 13 weeks!

Can still fit in to my normal fat jeans but the waist is getting tight and uncomfortable so I thought I might as well give in and get some preggy jeans. They are SO comfortable! Am embarassed to be in them so soon though, when do you think is a respectable time to ditch regular clothes??

cococat · 02/06/2008 14:33

Hello all. Usually lurk around as am nervous of posting before scan which is due at the start of next week - I am nearly 12 weeks. However am so glad that people are starting to discuss clothes - am also feeling like I look like I have been at the pies for a few weeks - don't look pg but do look distinctly chubby . Am avoiding my usual fitted tops and have ditched my jeans belt as that was just adding to the belly! Work clothes are not so bad though - hopefully no one has noticed as I haven't told them yet! Don't seem to have actually put on weight - maybe a pound or two but then as I have stopped drinking the lack of alcohol calories may be compensating!!

Seeing as I have started to become horrifically hormonal in the last two weeks and am prone to burst into tears at the slightest thing its not been helpful to catch sight of myself in a shop mirror looking pudgy . . . .

This is my first so don't really know when its "normal" to think about maternity trousers - if there is such a thing as normal . . . . x

hotmama · 02/06/2008 14:39

Hello everyone - and esp LadyT - glad to see you have joined the thread.

I am having a CVS this Thursday so please everyone have crossed fingers for me. I am very apprehensive as I am now 41 (I had 2 CVS's with dd1 and dd2 so know what to expect).

Luckily, my bum has always been bigger than my waist so my clothes are always a bit roomy around my waist - just as well. I think I may be in maternity clothes soon - have already started wearing my maternity bras - have become a bit norktastic!!!

Hope everyone is well - I don't feel sick anymore and haven't had anymore bleeding - yay! (skipping around emoticon)

LadyThompson · 02/06/2008 15:10

It's so lovely to see some familiar names! It's all gone to my thighs and boobs, but I must admit there's some round the front now as well... I haven't told all that many people about the pregnancy and can sort of disguise the weight gain until I do. But I think I am gaining weight a bit too fast - I've gained about 3kg I reckon, which is about 7 pounds - so I am going to start walking to work again (3 miles) and return to the gym (exercise bike only). I've noticed I am rather lacking in energy, and it doesn't feel like the pregnancy tiredness I had at the start, but more because I have been a bit sedentary recently.

Hi Hotmama - hadn't fogotten about your CVS and be sure to keep us posted. Good luck for the scan next week cococat...I've not been drinking either, and having worried for ages how I would manage not being able to enjoy a glass of wine, I am absolutely astonished to discover that I can do without it quite happily. Sorry you've felt so rough, Artichokes, and Pixsix - I gave in and put jogging bottoms on today, just because it's Monday...

hattyyellow · 02/06/2008 15:25

Lady Thompson I've gained about 9lb so far at 11 weeks! .

Of course some of it is from the baby/fluid etc but a lot of it is from eating to stop the sickness...I'm hoping it will all even out as I get into the second trimester. Have just had a healthy mid-afternoon snack of carrot sticks, hummus and milk (followed by a toffee crisp).

Working from home makes it very tempting to sit in my pjyama bottoms snacking all day!

Must start walking more. Must start walking more.

hattyyellow · 02/06/2008 15:27

ps Cococat loads of luck for the scan next week.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 02/06/2008 15:34

Hey all, my scan is not for another 2 weeks (when I will be 13 weeks ish) as I away next week.

I've got a bit of a pot belly developing, can't really dignify it with the description 'bump' as yet. Clothes are starting to get a bit tight but trying to hold off mat clothes for as long as possible. Most of my mat clothes from last time around are extremely dull 'smart' work clothes for winter/spring... not that suitable this time round!

My boobs have plumped up a bit, didn't notice the change last time round but I think nearly 2 years of bf had knocked the stuffing out of them a little

EffiePerine · 02/06/2008 15:53

DIME BARS have discovered that my local "porn-free" newsagent sells them (masquerading as Daim bars). If anyone wants one let me know as am happy to post...

EffiePerine · 02/06/2008 15:54

current favourite snack is bombay mix - I am not avoiding peanuts this time as seem to remember avoiding worse if you don't have an allergy

JamInMyWellies · 02/06/2008 15:56

Hi everyone, I am now 13wks and am currently sitting here in my fat jeans with the button undone. Keep looking at my maternity jeans but cant bring myself to put them on as I know I will be wearing them everyday for the next 6mth. I too have a large podgy belly I defo look pregnant. Wouldn't dare even go on the scales as I know I spent the majoruty of the weekend eating DS birthday cake and far too many bags of crisps.

Good luck for those with scans and cvs.

kayzisexpecting · 02/06/2008 16:03

Hello Lady Thompson, welcome. I'm glad your CVS went well.

I hope your CVS goes well Hotmama

I have put on about 3 pounds but I can not fit into normal clothes except 2 pairs that were too big anyway.

I had my first almost bump pat today in the shop. An old lady asked when I was due and was about to touch it when DS(very luckily) started crying and she said that she shouldn't stop me.

I hate people except DH touching my bump!!

purplepansy · 02/06/2008 16:23

Can I join?
This is my fourth pregnancy (1 DD age 4, 1 missed MC, then 1 DS age 2) and I am about 10 weeks
Feeling really nervous - never though I'd miscarry until it happened to me, and spent the whole of my last pregnancy terrified, and not feeling much better this time!!
Scan not for a couple of weeks yet, but keeping everything crossed. xxx

kayzisexpecting · 02/06/2008 16:26

Hello and welcome purplepansy

I'm sorry to hear about your mc. Its only natural to worry after having a mc.

OP posts:
purplepansy · 02/06/2008 16:33

Oh, I know - it doesn't stop me though!!
Not helping that am off sick today so lots of time to think - would be better at work!
Can sympathise with everyone who is starting to feel chubby...haven't really put much weight on yet, but all my trousers feel incredibly uncomfortable and tight. Too small for maternity clothes, too big for my own clothes. Grrr.
Am desperately waiting for my boobs to grow -am usually a bit lopsided and pregnancy/BF is the only time I have a decent cleavage!

fruitbowl · 02/06/2008 16:35

Hi all. Have been lurking about not doing much posting until my 12 week scan. Just wanted to let you know that the scan was this morning and sadly there was no heartbeat. Baby stopped growing about 8 weeks.

Obviously we are all v upset but I was half expecting bad news as I've had bad instincts for some reason from day 1. Good luck to all of you who are going to have lovely baby bundles come december. We're taking solace in cuddling our 3 year old baby DD. Please could someone take me off the list. I hope to appear on another ante-natal thread anon... xx

kayzisexpecting · 02/06/2008 16:36

I thought I wouldn't worry as much as this is my second pregnancy but I have worried just as much with this one as I did with DS.

My boobs grow too much. They are so heavy and annoying at the minute.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 02/06/2008 16:40

You poor girl, Fruitbowl - that's rotten and I am so sorry. I hope the cuddles from your DD make you feel better. Good luck and big hugs.

EffiePerine · 02/06/2008 16:40

fruitbowl: am very sorry

mibbes · 02/06/2008 16:41

Welcome LadyThomson - lovely to 'see' you on here - you were very kind to me when I had my 'terrified of 12 wk scan' thread a few weeks back . IKWYM about alcohol - I was quite a big fan of wine and magners and a bit worried how I'd cope - but I am loving being free of hangovers and have barely missed it atall - woohoo !
hatty I think my tiredness is my own doing as walked 12 miles on Sat and cycled 15 miles on Sun ! Am traning for the Edinburgh Moonwalk (although only doing the half marathon now due to PG).
Welcome purplepansy - I have everything crossed for a positive scan for you this time
kayz I totally agree about bump pats - I had 2 drunken pats at a party last weekend - arrghgghh ! esp at this stage when my bump is probably just crisps ! I spend most of my time trying to suck my belly in and now there are people copping a feel !
I am also looking podgy now - belly definitely growing in a new direction and not as 'soft' as just a fat tum IYKWIM ? Still fit normal trousers but have mat jeans on standby - was just too excited not to start mat clothes shopping the day I had scan !

mibbes · 02/06/2008 16:43

fruitbowl so sorry to hear that - take care and hope to see you on another AN thread as soon as you are ready {{hugs}}

kayzisexpecting · 02/06/2008 16:43

fruitbowl I am so sorry. Take care of yourself

OP posts:
minster · 02/06/2008 17:10

Oh fruitbowl I'm really sorry

rosmerta · 02/06/2008 17:22

fruitbowl I'm sorry to hear your news

LadyThompson & purplepansy hi and welcome to the thread!

Good luck to everyone having scans & CVS this week.

I'm another one with clothes concerns! I've definitely put on weight but think its more to my rubbish diet than to the baby! But I'm not quite ready for maternity clothes yet!
