abbymeg · 02/06/2008 17:33

Scan tomorrow and I getting increasingly worried. I had a scan at 7.1 which put me to 7.5 and there was a HB, but after my very dodgy start, and being told I'd be lucky to get to 12 weeks by a very sensitive doctor , I'm scared that something will be wrong.

I'm really sorry to hear of your missed MC fruitbowl. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that you will be back soon.

I'm really shocked at the number of people on this thread that this has happened to, especially as its suppposed to be very rare.

kayzisexpecting · 02/06/2008 17:50

Argh!!

I bought stuff to have a stir fry for dinner but I don't want it now!!!

I have no idea what to have. Is anyone else being indecisive about food?

artichokes · 02/06/2008 18:34

I am so sorry *Fruitbowl&.

I was thinking the same as Abbeymeg, this thread has had a shocking amount of miscarriages esp missed ones, I am so sorry for everyone affected.

mibbes · 02/06/2008 18:37

abbymeg all the vwey best with your scan tomorrow - I know you have had a very rocky start. Hopefully tomorrow will show that wee beany is thriving despite its tricky start and you can start to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

majormoo · 02/06/2008 18:38

sorry to hear your news Fruitbowl. I really hope you are back on an antenatal thread soon.

Welcome Lady Thomson/Purplepansy-glad your CVS went well lady Thomson. Hope yours goes well too Hotmama.

Abbeymeg hope your scan goes well. I have mine tomorrow too and am dreading it.

Verso · 02/06/2008 18:42

fruitbowl I'm really really sorry . Even if you had an inkling it's still really hard and unfair.

kayz I am hugely indecisive about food - and more annoyingly, once I've had something once I can't eat it the next day. It's not as bad as it was a couple of weeks ago but evening meals are quite difficult.

To answer the question about maternity clothes I bought some casual ones for weekends a couple of weeks back and they are blissful . Still got one looser pair of normal tailored trousers for work... but as I've started to tell people I'll be cracking open the proper maternity gear soon.

Mind you I tried some maternity stuff on in a shop at the weekend and it's shocking how much more pregnant it makes you look! Maybe it's because it's not my first (my fourth pg, counting the missed m/cs) but with empire-line tops I look enormous! Six months gone at least!

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up. I really hope there's lots of happy news.

chutneymary · 02/06/2008 22:09

Fruitbowl, I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. Take care and hope you are back on an ante natal thread soon.

No maternity clothes here yet, but do look a bit tubby in the tummy. Lost some weight with MS, but given the amount I have put away today, i'll be ballooning all too soon.

Good luck for those with scans and Hotmama for your CVS. Abbymeg, I hope you are reassured by it especially. Babies are very resilient, so fingers crossed all is well.

Off to bed - shattered!

kayzisexpecting · 03/06/2008 07:56

Verso I totally agree about maternity clothes making you look more pregnant. My normal clothes that still fit make me look like I've had too many pies, but my maternity stuff makes me look about 6 months.

I kept waking up last night convinced I could hear a newborn crying. Went to check DS loads of times and actually woke him up once as I kicked something and swore Maybe my body is starting early to get me used to night waking again.

Fruitbowl I'm so sorry to hear your news. I'm thinking of you.

Nolda · 03/06/2008 08:23

I had my dating scan yesterday and I'm pleased to report that all is well. EDD is 5 Dec now not the 8th.

I had been so nervous and it seemed to take ages before the sonographer turned the screen round to show us the baby (heartbeat, two legs, two arms and everything). I shed a few tears and a few more in the loo afterwards when I rushed to empty the required "moderately full bladder" which had become much more than that with the wait! Next thing to worry about is the amnio' at the end of June.

Good luck to those having scans this week and good luck Hotmama with the CVS.

Olipop · 03/06/2008 08:40

Hello everyone...just been trying to catch up.
Fruitbowl I am so sorry to hear your news. We do seem to be having a few too many sad outcomes. I hope that everyone else is ok and trying not to worry too much (easier said than done I know).
Welcome too to all the fearful lurkers! I'm glad you feel safe enough to declare yourselves now.
God - has anyone got any ideas what to do with a two year old boy in this wretched weather!!! We've got a little friend coming round to play soon which is always harder work than him being on his own as he is VERY possesive about what is MINE!!...Rosmerta will vouch for that...her DS has been on the receiving end of his wrath!

EffiePerine · 03/06/2008 08:43

Good luck Abbeymeg and Majormoo . Hotmama: when is your CVS?

I'm still shovelling the food in, bought a large jar of picked gherkins yesterday and nearly cried when I couldn't open them! DH is astounded at the amount I am putting away - sure I wasn't this bad with DS .

Have just told boss about pg and he was really nice . No-one else knows yet - had to tell him cos I had a meeting booked for the same day as my scan. Have to say he wasn;t particularly surprised (looks at vast potato belly).

I am still in normal clothes, but they were all a bit big on the waist anywhere due to high waist/arse ratio. Skirts better than trousers. Thank goodness the weather means I can still wear thick tights.

EffiePerine · 03/06/2008 08:45

Nolda: congrats on successful scan

Olipop: I find we HAVE to get out of the house. Local library good in this weather, also museums with good kids activities or even a soft play place?

Olipop · 03/06/2008 08:55

yes...might try a soft play but worried how busy they will be.........just yelled at him as he drew with crayon on the dining chair that I have JUST recovered..feeling guilty now. But he absolutely did it on purpose...looking at me whilst he did it and everything! Best log off and occupy him before he causes more distruction. Bye everyone..catch up tomorrow (its a work day!)

katie3677 · 03/06/2008 09:58

Hi everyone, it's my brthday today and not really sure what to do with myself. Have taken the day off wrk and was going to do something nice and outdoorsy with DS, but the weather is pants. Maybe I'll take us shopping instead.
I am now 12+2 and beginning to feel a bit less sick, but being the worrier I am can't work out whether it is due to getting past the 12wk stage or because something has gone wrong. I never did have my 12 week scan after they told me at 10 weeks that everything was fine and they didn't want to see me until 20 weeks, but am now thinking that I should insist on another one to put my mind at rest.
There do seem to be alot of MC's on this thread, but it is unfortunately incredibly common, especially with 2nd babies apparently. After my last two, Dr told me that one in five prengancies end in miscarriage, that's a huge percentage.

hattyyellow · 03/06/2008 10:05

Katie happy birthday! I think it's pretty normal to feel much better about the 12 week mark.

Olipop this weather is pants with toddlers isn't it! Literally in our case as we are potty training and it's so much easier when they can play in the garden in the sunshine in just a t-shirt! My girls are at nursery this morning which is a relief - I was wondering what to do with them for just the afternoon! We do have wet weather gear, waterproof hooded jacket and trousers which has proved invaluable as we can still go out for a walk without getting soaked.

Effie laughing out loud at the pickles!

Nolda great news about your scan -what a relief!

Verso and Kayz I also find that having given into wearing my maternity jeans now I look due any day! I was quite glad for the rain this morning as I could just about cover the bump with DH's raincoat!

Abbeymeg good luck with the scan today - everything crossed for you!

Mibbes a half marathon! Blimey! I am seriously impressed. I struggle to get the energy up for a brief walk at the moment!

Really better do some work! Big wave to everyone!

Is anyone else due very near Christmas and has DC already? I know it's very early but what will you do for childcare for the existing DC? Am I the only one without family nearby? My mum is a good 4-5 hours drive and I feel cheeky asking any friends to take my girls in over Christmas...fretting a bit about what's going to happen...

hattyyellow · 03/06/2008 10:05

Fruitbowl very very sorry to hear your news - I really hope you're okay.

hotmama · 03/06/2008 10:20

Oh Fruitbowl I am so sorry for your news (huge cyber hugs).

Effieperrine - my CVS is on Thursday at 9.30 should get provisional result on Friday afternoon.

Hattyyellow - I am due on the 21st but as dd1 was 9 days late and dd2 was 12 days late - I am assuming I will still be pregnant whilst eating Christmas pudding.

My mum is only about 15 mins away so have a contingency plan in place.

What is worrying me most is going into labour on the 24th at night before a certain someone comes and having to get someone put "things" at the bottom of the bed etc. How will I explain to the dd's if a certain someone is delayed. Think I might start a thread nearer the time - I'm sure there is loads of mnet advice out there!

Hope everyone is well and scans are going well etc.

I'm working at home today but just had a cup of tea and a bagel hence the posting - better get back to work!

Speak to you all soon. XX

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/06/2008 10:20

Fruitbowl sorry to hear your sad news, take care of yourself

hattyellow I'm due a couple of days before Christmas and as DS was a few days over I think there's a strong likelihood of going into labour on Christmas Eve/Day! My mum is about 3 hrs drive away and has said it's fine, she will drop everything and come, but I still worry about disrupting everything for them. One of my best friends who has a DD similar age to DS (and also one on the way in August) has offered to help with temporary childcare if I need it as they're not going away for Christmas. Fingers crossed it all happens at night with DS safely tucked up in bed

hattyyellow · 03/06/2008 10:34

It is hard to know what to do over Christmas isn't it? As you say, family will drop everything and come but you're kind of disrupting their whole Christmas and denying them a few drinks!

...I have two bachelor brothers who I think my mum would feel guilty if she didn't spend Christmas with and we had everyone for Christmas last year so I don't fancy having a houseful here again!

I also worry about DD's and Christmas itself - really hoping I can keep my legs crossed (due 22nd) and get through Christmas Eve and Day - they're old enough now to really get excited about it and their presents and that certain someone coming and it would be sad for them to miss out!

Maybe the key is to be ultra-organised and get all the stockings/presents etc done ages in advance - so that if someone else is looking after DC they have all the stuff ready to put out whereever they are..

And do you bother getting the turkey and all the trimmings in if you might not be there?

Deep breaths Hatty! Let's get through the next 6 months before I start fretting over the brandy butter!

EffiePerine · 03/06/2008 10:57

I'm not due till the end of the month, so hopefully Xmas should be OK (though DS was 5 days early ). Like the idea of doing everythig in advance. If nothing else, I won't feel like shopping much in December. We usually have Xmas on our own , though I have NO idea where we'll be living by then .

Hatty: v impressed at toilet training.

hattyyellow · 03/06/2008 11:04

Cheers Effie - we've been chickening out of pants (girls not us!)whenever we leave the house and putting the girls back in nappies.

So nursery this morning is their first session away from home and having to remember to go to the loo. The staff will be very good at helping them remember to go I'm sure, but I've a feeling the massive carrier bag of spare clothes and tops and pants will be empty by the time I collect them this afternoon!

I wish I had an idea when my "pattern" was for going into labour. Last time round the elective section was at 38 weeks and 3 days so I never went into labour.

The consultant was keen for me to go to 40 weeks but I was so huge and so hot in mid-August that I think I burst into tears until he relented! So I've no idea when I would have gone into labour naturally.

I imagine that to be nearing full term with twins without any sign of labour would be a good sign that this one won't be too early - but then my uterus might be more weary than last time and might have had enough by Christmas!

katie3677 · 03/06/2008 11:06

Oh, and a friend did the wedding ring test on me the other day and this one is another boy apparently. I am a bit sceptical about this sort of thing usually, but another friend did it on DH and it came out exaclty the same, 50/50 chance i suppose!

kayzisexpecting · 03/06/2008 11:20

I'm a bit worried about being exhausted at xmas and DS not having a good time but my mum is just up the road. So we'll be there on xmas day and maybe down to my Nan's on boxing day.

Hi again.
Sorry to hear some of us have had bad news -makes me appreciate how lucky I am.

I had my 12 week scan this morning. Still just the one in there . I was relieved to see the nuchal measurement was 2mm (dd4 had a measurement of 3.1mm and she has a heart condition),just got to wait for the blood results. They told me if I don't hear by the end of Thursday then I'll be considered low risk. I'm still psyched up for bad news though .
Not a very good pic but I've still put it on my profile .
