Hello Jam Many congratulations

Yay for all the scans and dime bars.

Rosmerta you are lovely and I am now Free! I am now educated (or something)

Toasties are wonderful, am just getting back into carbs. Cheese and sweet chilli in this house

rosmerta · 29/05/2008 21:58

Yay Indith! Will it be summer when you get the results?

chutneymary good luck for tomorrow

hi jam welcome to the thread!

I'm in for a long day tomorrow. Off to Manchester for a study day, have to be at the tube by 5.45am & won't be home until about 9.30pm.

theyoungvisiter · 29/05/2008 23:26

good luck for tomorrow everyone!

Welcome Jam!

God I would LOVE an Ikea meetup. I am addicted to their meatballs in a slightly shameful way. It's very odd - last pregnancy I craved sweet things, this time it's salty. Well, the bump wants what it wants...

kayzisexpecting · 30/05/2008 07:12

Morning!!

Good luck to everyone else having scans today.

1:20pm seems so far away!! I can't wait to have the scan, I'm really looking forward to it.

Hope everyone is ok. I should get my Dime Bars today.

msdynamo · 30/05/2008 07:34

Good luck today kayzisexpecting, and to everyone else having scans today. All very exciting!

Mine is not till next Friday.

Hope all goes really well and tell us your news later please!

EffiePerine · 30/05/2008 08:27

Good luck for today Kayz and Artichokes . My scan isn't until the 17th - boo.

I seem to have the feeling sick unless I eat something type of MS which means I am snacking ALL the time and the weight is finally going on. Will have to try to stick to fruit rather than crisps . I'm craving salty things too, last time I was munching my way through bags of those Swizzle sweets.

My scan is at the Homerton and they were great last time - no waiting around at all.

minster · 30/05/2008 09:54

Good luck Kayz and Artichokes!

Hi Jam, congratulations!

majormoo we didn't tell dd until after the 20 week scan (she was 5), I'd had a loss at 16 weeks in the prgnancy before & she was heart broken so I wanted to wait as long as possible.

Homerton's not too bad is it Effie, I've worked their quite a lot.

My sickness has got significantly worse, have a little hard bump as well, I think I've got another anterior placenta - I can hear loads of placental noise with the doppler but no hb yet. Children were up at the crack of dawn today, I'm so tired, need to do some baking with dd as well urgh.

poisondwarf · 30/05/2008 13:10

Effie - another Homerton girl! Had my booking appointment/scan/bloods there yesterday. They said in the letter to allow 2 hours for the appointment but it was 4 in the end. I think they just forgot about us for the first part then that had a knock-on effect for the other bits ... not fun when you've got a hungry, bored, tired 14-month-old in tow!

The good news is that they now do combined nuchal scan & blood tests for chromosomal disorders instead of just the scan. Apparently they introduced the blood test bit in October.

Plus I got 5 photos for some reason, instead of the 2 I got with previous scans.

EffiePerine · 30/05/2008 13:42

at 4 hours

I have my booking-in with the mw later though, so may be less time? . Luckily DS is at the CM that day so DH and I can go on our own.

the blood test thing confused me, esp as it means the nuchal bit of the scan is optional (i.e. you do both or neither). Have finally decided to go for both.

I was v impressed by the blood people last time. I have tricky veins (narrow and deep) and they got it out first time

artichokes · 30/05/2008 13:54

Just a quickie. Had my scan. Little baby was very active and kept diving away from the screen. At one point the sonographer pleaded "keep still baby" and it turned straight to the screen, waved and dived off. Lol. All looks good.

Hope your scans look good to Kayz and Chutney.

Flumpybumpy · 30/05/2008 13:57

They were very clear about having an empty bladder and even made me go to the loo to make sure it was empty. Very strange how different health authorities have different rules.

chinchi · 30/05/2008 14:16

Great news artichokes!

hattyyellow · 30/05/2008 15:52

Sorry not been on for a while! Had my booking in appointment on Tuesday which all went fine until the midwife decided to feel my tummy and decided that because I was measuring big that there was a 50/50 chance I was expecting twins again!

Much as I adore my girls, this wasn't quite something that filled me with joy - twin toddlers and twin babies so have spent the last few days in sheer panic!

Luckily I got an early scan to finally put me out of my misery and it's.....just the one!!!

All looks fine, little billie (as our toddlers have christened him/her) was happily snoozing and then woke up and gave a wiggle and did some thumb sucking. It was soooo lovely.

They've put me back two days so still a week and a half until I get to the magic 12 weeks - but isn't there some stat about if you see a healthy heartbeat at 10 weeks the risk of miscarriage drops?

Well done to everyone having their scans and good luck to those still waiting

I am still starving hungry all the time and have awful indigestion - still as knackered as a knackered thing - really looking forward to this trimester being over now please!

EffiePerine · 30/05/2008 16:12

Great news Hatty . I'd be panicked at the thought of TWO sets of twins - at least you got an extra scan out of it . Actually am panicked at the thought of one set... let's hope this is another single

Am still at the eating loads - feeling ill - eating more stage. I could prob do with more and smaller meals, only I don't want to cause comment at work by bringing in numerous pots of snacks!

mibbes · 30/05/2008 18:03

yippee for successful scans artichokes and Hatty - phew that there is only 1 ! My 12 week scan ended up being 10+6 hatty and they were not concerned that it was too early so I'm sure you can relax now

How early can you feel fluttering ? I definitely felt something earlier - maybe wind...?

chinchi · 30/05/2008 18:17

Great news Hatty! Love the 'Little Billie' title!

Olipop · 30/05/2008 20:06

Hi everyone and welcome to Jam.
Good news on everyones scans...all lovely news.
Still chucking up at an alarming rate. Just had to read DS bedtime story and kept getting told off for pausing to take deep breaths! He didn't help the situation by belching at me a few times and then wanting a massive slimey goodnight kiss...you gotta love 'em! Still...I managed to complete Harry and his bloomin' long bucket full of dinosaurs before launching him into his cot and running to the loo! He doesn't seem to have settled too well so hope I'm not in for a disturbed night :-(.

chutneymary · 30/05/2008 20:15

Well done artichokes and hatty! Great news! I am happy to report that I too got on well, odds of problems are the lowest in all three pgs, even though I am 4 years older than my first nuchal scan! I will finally decide over the weekend but it looks like the CVS will not be necessary now

Only slight query for me is over the due date. As I have only had the one period since DD2 15 months ago (and that was very light, nothing to write home about), my first scan redated me from 4th Dec to 10th Dec. However, the obstetrician today said that the baby was huge and he thought my original dates might be right! As I'll be doing a CS on about 3rd Dec, it doesn't really matter but it would be nice to know for sure. He told me to leave the date where it is though, which is as well as I@d have a November baby and be booted off this thread.

Chichi I think the bladder thing varies depending on the equipment that is used. For DD2 and this one, I have had empty bladders, but for DD1 (2004) I had to have a full one. Interesting in the early preg unit at Kings there was a sign saying that they don't do TV scans on children and so they would need a full bladder for an abdominal one. There was a poor kid sitting behind me who was being given glass after glass of water to get her ready. She can't have been more than about 13 and was in her school uniform.

Hope everyone is doing well. DH is off tomorrow for a week so I'll be flying solo. I predict lots of ice cream for the children and lots of pizza for me

Great news Artichokes and Hatty.

My scan went really well. The baby wouldn't stay still at all and kept waving at us. They have put my date forward by 2 days. So I am exactly 12 weeks today.

I got a bag of dime bars from my mum today. She is saving me a bag for next week.

OP posts:
hattyyellow · 30/05/2008 21:18

Cheers all - it is just the hugest relief to be only having one! Although I am huuuggee already as my uterus got stretched to 48 weeks last time (when I was only 37 weeks!) so I don't quite see how I'm going to expand for another 6 months!

Chutney that's great that your scan went well as well. Do you mind me asking how old you are?

I'm 33 now and was 29 when I got pregnant with my twins. The midwife suggested I might want to go for private screening - it's £180 though which seems a lot! It's strange to suddenly be considered as an older mother - 33 still seems fairly young to me in other ways!

Is anyone else having private screening?

Just updated list with my new due date too.

artichokes · 30/05/2008 21:31
