Hello everyone

Not been on all week - work has been manic and I have been collapsing in a heap when I've gotten home - have missed catching up!

Congrats to all who have had scans . inspectorgadget was so to hear of your loss.

Got my mum who is MW to listen for heartbeat on Monday I'd forgotten how it feels to hear that sound. DD was so funny she promptly laid down whipped up her top and wanted it on her tummy. She is also saying 'baby' all the time!!!

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 13:56

Got my scan tomorrow, dreading having to drink a pint and a half of water. I'll hardly be able to walk round the hospital with a full bladder.

I got a small Quiche Lorraine for lunch and I didn't like it. I have no idea what to eat.

I'm obsessed with cheese & ham toasties. It's the only thing I can eat and look forward to!!

DH made a lovely steak & Ale pie last night but just couldn't face much of it. He was so proud of his efforts too....

theyoungvisiter · 29/05/2008 14:27

Kaz, I didn't drink anything this time (had a work crisis and had to go straight from crisis management to the hospital, so no time).

It was fine - no trouble in seeing the picture at all. I made sure I didn't go to the loo just in case, but I was totally comfortable, unlike last time when I had to beg the sonographer to cut the scan short because I was in actual pain on the table!

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 14:30

I was in pain last time. I honestly thought I was going to die of an exploding bladder.

I've got my scan tomorrow too Kayz. What time is yours? Mine ia 10am. I am just going to drink a normal amount and not wee. It worked fine last time.

theyoungvisiter · 29/05/2008 14:46

I'm not surprised with a litre and a half - that sounds completely mad!

I'm sure you'd be fine drinking MUCH less - the worst that could happen is they ask you to wait half an hour and have another glass of water.

I think I was positively dehydrated - I was totting up in the waiting area and realised I'd had a cup of coffee mid morning and then nothing until I gulped one of those small watercooler cups in the waiting room. But as I say, it was all fine.

Olipop · 29/05/2008 14:49

Oh no...just lost my lunch .
Good luck for all those with scans coming up.
Was just wondering whether we'll get any twins or more on this group! That would be fun!

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 14:49

Mine is at 20 past 1. I can't wait. They are so exciting.

OP posts:
theyoungvisiter · 29/05/2008 14:53

I was terrified about it being twins as my dad is a twin and also I was MUCH sicker this time round than with DS, and I've been told that very strong morning sickness can be a marker for twins.

But fortunately only 1 healthy bean... phew all round.

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 14:57

I was slightly worried about twins. None in our family but I'm quite big already. But when I had an emergancy scan there was only 1.

poisondwarf · 29/05/2008 15:05

Went for my scan this morning - two arms, two legs, wiggling away. Still got to wait for results of nuchal combined with blood tests, but so far so good!

Sorry to hear about all those who have not been so lucky, especially Becky and Gadget.

rosmerta · 29/05/2008 16:04

Kayz, I didn't follow the instructions either (forgot ) but just drank a large glass of water before I left & a couple more watercooler cups when I got there & it was fine.

Olipop, I was hoping you'd feel better now! At least everyone at work now knows!

Isn't Indith doing her exams today? Hope it goes ok Indith if you are!

Flumpybumpy · 29/05/2008 17:02

The instructions I got with the scan said that you do not need a full bladder for teh scan and to empty your bladder beforehand.

rosmerta · 29/05/2008 17:29

That's odd Flumpy, my scan instructions said the exact opposite!

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 17:33

Thats very odd as mine say the opposite too. It says if you don't have a full bladder they can't do the scan and will have to rearrange the appointment.

OP posts:
poisondwarf · 29/05/2008 18:12

I didn't get any instructions either way. Maybe it's to do with the type of machine they've got.

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 18:37

My mum is at Ikea!!!!!!!!!!!

I have asked her to get me some Dime Bars.

OP posts:
Verso · 29/05/2008 18:48

I think the bladder thing depends on the type of equipment they have. For DD, I had an empty bladder (diff hospital), then for this pg had to have FULL bladder for EPU scans, and 'comfortable but not empty' (?!) for the nuchal.

Who mentioned cheese & ham toasties? With DD I couldn't get enough of them until I made the mistake of having a massive cheese and ham crepe thing in Amsterdam. DH kept teasing me afterwards saying "cheese en hem" and watching me turn green and it's kind of stuck... bleurgh...

Verso · 29/05/2008 18:49

LOL @ IKEA!!!!

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 19:11

YAY!!!!!!!!! She got some!!!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 29/05/2008 19:34

lol kay, hope you enjoy them now!

chutneymary · 29/05/2008 19:39

Good news to hear about the recent scans . Have mine tomorrow at 9 - wish me luck.

I find I eat things and then wish I hadn't. When I have a yearning for something I devour it greedily, and then can't face it again. Looking forward to stuffing my face without a care! I hope there isn't too much longer in the pits for the sickies amongst us.

Both children already asleep so may go and have a sneaky lie down before DH comes home.

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 19:40

I hope so too Rosmerta.

Good luck for tomorrow ChutneyMary.

majormoo · 29/05/2008 20:27

good luck for everyone's scans tomorrow.

Poisondwarf glad yours went well.

Olipop what a relief to have told them at work and got a good reaction.

Cheese and ham toasties sound lovely.

I have my nuchal on Tuesday and have been told there is no need to have a full bladder. Our appointment is at Kings at 4.10pm-they always run late anyway so god knows what time we will be home.

Have been feeling very low today-think it is worrying about the scan and just feeling exhausted that has caused it.

If all goes well with the scan not sure when to tell DD. She is 4, nearly 5, and Christmas is a long time to wait. However, at the weekend a friend of our mentioned it three times in front of her. Luckily she didn't hear but would hate her to hear the news second hand. Oh well will cross that bridge next week.
