Due Sept '08 - Counting Down Rather than Up Now!

Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

jenny - thanks for remembering about the eczema - and for the link - since I'm on free prescriptions I'm getting my truck loads of diprobase and epaderm and aqueous cream for free at the moment! And the answer to how it is going is 'up and down' - I'm still waiting for my referral to the dermatologist to come through. Yesterday evening my skin was awful - really uncomfortable and sore and I was despondent, not helped by getting hot on the bike ride home. But today after greasing myself up with epaderm it feels bit better even if it looks hideous - my instinct is that I've got infected eczema, and that's why all the steroid creams and emollients alone are not shifting it. The two courses of oral antibiotics for folliculitis helped, but the eczema (and to some extent the folliculitis) just comes back each time. I've had antibiotic creams in the past too. Anyway, will have to be patient and wait and see what the dermatologist recommends. Certainly can't wear any of my summer clothes in public yet, as people would probably think I've got the plague. Boo hoo.

I often think of you when I'm on my bike!! Did you get drenched twice on Tuesday too?! I was very grumpy. But it's been better since then, and it was glorious pedalling today in the early morning cool sunshine. Definitely feeling pleased to be keeping up the exercise that way, as I've long dropped my running and can't swim because of the eczema. And even though I work part time I figured I cycle for 3 1/2 hours each week on my commute. Sounds good when you add it up!!

I also counted up today that I have 11 more weeks in work - 6 weeks work, then 2 weeks hols, 3 weeks work, then 1 week hols, then 2 weeks work and done. And that sounds so much more manageable than just thinking I'm here till September.

hopefully · 05/06/2008 12:21

You're counting down the weeks in work? I have a spreadsheet (another one!) counting down the days!! Incidentally, I have just under 49 to go in work, which pleases me more than saying I'm in work for another 10 weeks or whatever it is.

mustsleep · 05/06/2008 12:30

yay we will have all finished work within two months (or maybe three for due at the end of sept)

i have three weeks left to work when my sick note runs out but may just get another and then i have my 4 weeks hols to take!! am slightly worried that i may not get paid for this though

omg the cat has brought in three dead birds today!! whilei was cleaning the bathroom i left the living room window open i came down to a bird next to the sofa and two in the kitchen - needless to say i freaked out an screamed (one was massive she is still a kitten ffs) dd screamed and i went out to try and find a spade came back and she had removed them to outside for me at least she is a clever cat hopefully she won;t bring them in again

mama2bee · 05/06/2008 12:47

Another spreadsheet hopefully - I love the idea of that though. I too have been counting down in weeks, silly me, by days is probably much better! I do know that it's 99 days until my due date - eek!

My other spreadsheet is going well - I've also started colour coding - help me!

jennylindinha · 05/06/2008 12:58

Oh Pidge, sounds like a nightmare. I hope it gets better (perhaps it will after the birth if it doesn't before?) so good luck with the dermatologist. I suppose that at least it hasn't been too hot so you've not been so uncomfortable, but then the sun is so lovely and makes us all feel more cheerful. And here am I worrying about waxing my legs because they've been way too itchy and scratchy recently. I'm going to Barcelona tomorrow on a hen weekend (yay!) and have gorrila legs, but don't want to be having any eczema problems whilst I'm away...

I think of you too when I'm on my bike! I keep looking out for other pregnant women as well, but haven't seen any yet. Mind you, when we're all wearing raincoats and getting soaked like on Tuesday (grrrr) it's difficult to tell. It's good to do the exercise though, I've really started to get uncomfortable sitting for too long at my desk but cycling is great to loosen up a bit.

Hopefully, I can't believe you have a spreadsheet for that!

MelT76 · 05/06/2008 13:38

I have 45 days to work. Woo Hoo!!! I don't need a spreadsheet tho, strangely, it's the only thing my pregnancy mushed brain can remember.

meglet · 05/06/2008 13:45

I have 19 days to work! I am crossing them off on my childcare rota.

I seem to have developed heartburn / reflux from hell (just Googled it so I don't think it's anything to worry about). I'm getting over a nasty cough and last night was sick every time I coughed, including one spectacular incident of being sick through my nose . Thank goodness DP was at work and didn't witness me throwing up every where. I think I am going to have to eat less now!

lilapple · 05/06/2008 13:48

Hello again and thank you for welcoming me on Monday! I've been in and out of doctor's appointments all week long trying to find a solution for dreadful right sided rib pain. It's agonising. If I'm on my feet for more than 10 minutes it feels like I'm being stabbed between the ribs and hurts so much that it takes my breath away. I've had it since 20 weeks (I'm 26 weeks now) and it has become progressively worse. Anyone else suffering from it?

PS: I seem to have dropped off of the list; please can I be added again?

06 Sep - Lilapple - age 37 - North London - first baby - surprise!

mama2bee · 05/06/2008 13:49

I've got 41 days left, sounds much better! It's so lovely (in London) today, didn't want to come back from the park. I too am struggling sitting at my desk all day - goodness knows what it'll be like in July/early Aug.

meglet · 05/06/2008 13:57

lilapple have added you. Hope i haven't dropped anyone by mistake.

Pidge · 05/06/2008 13:59

jennylindinha - it's more a nuisance, and really uncomfortable than anything. Could be a lot worse. Trouble is I think I think I need a super strong steroid cream with antibiotics (e.g. fucibet) but GP didn't want to give me anything stronger than hydrocortisone. Anyway, will chase up the dermatologist appointment if I don't hear soon.

Barcelona sounds great - hairy legs or not!

mamamufin · 05/06/2008 14:08

Hi guys
Just done a very quick catch up on all your news.
I am on annual leave for two weeks now. Whoah . Then I have two weeks to work (only 6 shifts, then I am thru!) I cant wait.
The best news is I have develpoed a bit of a bump . I think its all the rice puddin'
I am going out with the girls tonight, we are going to a chinese restaurant (my first chinese since before xmas).

eandz · 05/06/2008 14:13

ohh i've been craving chinese for DAYS!

eandz · 05/06/2008 14:16

i don't know why i didn't finish that post!

so i'm meeting another mumsnetter today and my eyebrows are horrible. i do have time today but feel quite lazy. i was going to get them done tomorrow but am thinking are first impressions important enough for me to get them done today?

jennylindinha · 05/06/2008 14:17

I have fucibet too. Had to have it after Glastonbury last year - 5 days in wellies and bits of my feet were literally falling off! I'm going this year and am hoping it will be a scorcher! (optimsitic emoticon in here...)

meglet · 05/06/2008 14:18

eandz I don't think she will run away screaming if you don't get your eyebrows done! .

that reminds me, I must tidy up mine. Haircut tomorrow, leg wax monday!

eandz · 05/06/2008 14:20

yes, i'm getting my hair cut tomorrow too! and the whole works as far as body hair removal is concerned.

hopefully · 05/06/2008 14:27

mama2bee I have spreadsheets for everything! I think it's because I spend all day making and analysing them for work, looking at investment performance, so my brain can't actually function any more without a spreadsheet in front of it!

Feel so sorry for those of you with excema/back problems/rib pain/bleeding. The whole pregnancy thing is enough drama and hassle all by itself, without other things that can come with it.

meglet · 05/06/2008 14:28

I hope I don't freak out the lady who does my legs. I hope she has waxed a pregnant lady before. I just want to feel presentable again and we need to take DS swimming.

I'm off to meet friends in a moment. One of them had her second baby last week, it will be very exciting if she is there. I have no idea how one is supposed to get out the house with a toddler and a new born..... .

Alaro · 05/06/2008 14:34

May I join the club?
14 Sep - Alaro - Age 34 - Essex - DD3 - Surprise!
LOL at the hair removal posts! Mainly because I was just thinking the same of myself (eyebrows/legs etc,.etc).

eandz · 05/06/2008 14:35

i wouldn't know how to answer the question about leaving the house...

but as far as being presentable, i'd like to add a comment. my jungle is untamable and i have no idea what to do to brace the assault my body will be under tomorrow afternoon. but I MUST get it done since i'm leaving for kuwait on saturday and then off to dubai for my last vacation. both those places are too hot to go with my fur.

jennylindinha · 05/06/2008 14:42

Meglet, having seen my sister in action with her toddler/baby combo I can say that it takes a LONG time to get organised and out of the house...!

eandz · 05/06/2008 14:47

ok, i'm gonna go now and get my facial hair bleached because for some reason i've turned 12 again and have darker peach fuzz than normal and i'll get my eyebrows done. is anyone else tuning into a warewolf?

jennylindinha · 05/06/2008 14:58

Good luck depilating eandz!
