Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

KASHA MY GOODNESS, THESE BABIES ARE NOT LETTING US RELAX. That is exactly what happened to me and they gave me the same answer in the hospital. These sort of experiences make you feel very fragil and make me want to have the baby sooner rather that later, at least I will have my body and my strengh back to look after the baby properly. It is not knowing what is happening inside you when you have to rush to hospital what does me in.
Hopefully, it won't happen again, mine was 6 weeks ago and so far so good. So keep positive, these things happen to some women.

Jearound same story here, sister separated, unhappy and everytime something went right for me, she will say " She is just lucky unlike me" Even after my 2 miscarriages she kept on saying I was lucky because I had a husband unlike her.My mum had knee surgery yesterday (she is OK now)and she tried to used that as an excuse to enter my life again testing my mobile. She tried to do the same when I was in hospital 6 weeks ago, but no way. She spends her holidays in London and I just know she is planning to come to visit with the excuse of my pregnancy, but I won't let her close to my ds.

eandz · 04/06/2008 15:21

potxola,
i know it must be hard for you to have a jealous sister. i have the worst brother anyone could have. to be honest, sometimes i think i shouldn't let my parents near my children in case they somehow manage to influence my children the way they influenced my brother. they spoiled him soo rotten that sometimes i think they deserve the curse that is now their 20 year old son! he's awful! i can't believe we share the same blood.

mustsleep · 04/06/2008 15:22

hi everyone

have had my gtt test today and will find out the results tomorrow - it's all very well every one telling you that the stuff they make you drink is sickly sweet butnoone told me it would be the same consistency as gaviscon...yuk

sorry no good puns am rubbish at that kind of thing

am still waiting for work to let me know that they won't pay my smp so i can claim my ma but no word yet - am really beginning to worry they wont let me know and i will assume that all is good and i'll end up not getting paid!!

have to go and collect ds but will be back later x

hopefully · 04/06/2008 15:48

Mustsleep your work just get better and better, don't they! Did you say your overall employer is the council? Can you phone them and hassle for it? It might also be worth printing off a page from the HMRC website, or wherever it says that your work are obliged to inform you about your maternity pay (ask flowerybeanbag on employment issues if you don't know what you need), and posting it to work, with a letter stating that you need them to provide the information in 7 days.

Boo, I've got to update my age to 30. Might 'forget' for a bit.

I really think the employment section on MN is so good, although Mustsleep seems to have the worst employers in the world.

LumpyBumpyThingy · 04/06/2008 17:08

jennylindinha · 04/06/2008 17:47

Hello All, would have posted yesterday but felt a bit weird after seeing the Johnworf thread and then reading the bad news... So sorry to hear about your friend Jenbot, that's really sad.

I had my scan (finally!) yesterday and all is well! They told us they knew the sex but we were strong and said we didn't want to know. DP thinks it will be a girl because he didn't see any dangly bits, but who knows! Baby would not keep still and they had to send me away for half an hour to move around and try and encourage it to change position. Lots of prodding as well but they got the views they were after. Apparently baby has very long legs and a big head! Very cute though, and lovely to see it moving around in there.

It felt very odd to see the scan and then the picture of little Katharine in the SCBU... She seems to be doing well though, so fingers crossed for them.

Can't believe the third trimester is looming already! Yikes and we haven't got nearly enough sorted in the flat...

mustsleep · 04/06/2008 18:52

so when do we actually class as being in the thirs trimester then

becaroo · 04/06/2008 18:54

From 28 weeks I think......

carrieon · 04/06/2008 19:48

Before you go starting 'third trimester' threads, just remember that some of us are only 23 weeks! But with the amount we natter on it'll probably be a two-parter thread anyway

Big shock today - the urge to tidy overwhelmed me! Still can't be doing with cleaning, but all the piles of stuff on the piano and windowsills have GOT to go! Have provided dh with folders, recycling box and a bin, and a pile of things I'm no longer prepared to give houseroom to. For my part I'm getting rid of books I've never read or seriously doubt I'll ever read again, and have sorted through the astonishing number of blankets we have. We only really used blankets for dd when out in the pram (coz you can whip them on and off going in and out of shops) and rolled up down the side of her cot to wedge her in. I've got an enormous pile of blankets to get rid of - mostly fleecey ones but also some cellular and knitted. Someone on York freecycle is gonna love them I hope! I'm just pleased with the draw I've freed up and can now fill with other stuff...

Oooh def something to do with nesters clearouts looking for homes, loving that one!

Or a plea for someone else to wax our bikini lines...

Pidge · 04/06/2008 21:06

jennylindinha - congrats on your scan - that's wonderful news. Always good to have lovely happy news to balance the sad. And all fingers crossed for johnworf's little girl, here's hoping no-one else here produces a baby for a good while yet.

lollyheart · 04/06/2008 21:30

Woah were nearly there Woah better trim my hair.

Shall i get my coat

barnpot · 04/06/2008 21:40

so sorry to hear about JW and I'm really ashamed of myself, for sometimes thinking I don't want to feel pg anymore, when there is nothing more I want.
just snapped at dh too, I'm turning into such a bitch.
going to sit in the corner and think about my actions.

carrieon · 04/06/2008 21:42

You could think about a new thread title while you're there barnpot!

barnpot · 04/06/2008 22:19

how about-

due sept 08 - beware emotional mess

  • my tummy is not public property!
  • was that a kick or just wind?
  • yes I am pg please dont touch my tummy!
carrieon · 04/06/2008 22:33

Oooh, all of the above! I think everyone else might have gone to bed, so I'll be off too. Sweet dreams!
ps, I'm sure it was a kick really

eandz · 04/06/2008 22:37

oooh! i loved the

"was that a kick or just wind?"

title!!! It's my favorite.

eandz · 05/06/2008 08:13

what am i, the thread killer?

lollipopmother · 05/06/2008 10:35

Beware - emotional mess is the one that describes me the best at the moment!

For closer to the time I was thinking "The March Towards Maternity Leave" or "Mummies on the march towards maternity leave", something like that anyway.

eandz · 05/06/2008 10:41

lollopop-

sounds great. i think the winner of the name contest should create the new thread.

jennylindinha · 05/06/2008 11:55

Thanks Pidge for your message! I meant to ask you how the dreaded eczema was going? A friend at work suggested this ointment/cream as a more natural alternative to prescription creams and it does work (although in severe times I do need to resort to something stronger...) You can also get it here

Might be worth a try if you are fed up of emollients etc... It's pricey but does last a long time. I've just got a new big tub and my legs and feet feel much better!

Still biking it and today was lovely. Yesterday, my gear wire broke and the bike was stuck in the highest gear - horrendous going up the slightest hill! DP fixed it yesterday though, thank goodness... How are you getting on?

hopefully · 05/06/2008 12:05

Ooh, have just had a delivery of Liz Earle skincare stuff. Stopped using it a while ago in a budgetting drive, but decided recently that I needed some pampering! Am looking forward to using it later.
