oh my god!! i turn my back for two seconds... congratulations pina!!!! that pineapple trick worked for you then... you are indeed our 1st may mummy (unless someone else has had a baby?)

GCG - what a lovely birth story, have taken many rasberry leaf tablets and drunk much tea today, have been walking loads so will start to look into the curry for tea tonight. DP isnt having any of the sex though... 2 and a half hours? awestruck!!

magic fairy - can you sit on the ball and type - i have been doing that (makes me feel less guilty for sitting in front of computer...)

Hello all, I hardly ever post but thought I had better do with my birth announcement!

Well, Pearl was born Monday 28th April at 12.10am, 6lb 1 1/2oz. Tiny but absolutely perfect and beautiful too of course!

All day Sunday from 11am-ish I had what I dismissed as uncomfortable Braxton Hicks, in fact they were so erratic and not really painful my parents went home at 5pm. A couple of hours later I called them to come back (to look after ds1 & 2) praying this wasn't yet another false alarm. Started to use tens machine at about 9pm, contractions were still all over the place (about 4 an hour) and then stopped altogether at 10pm for half an hour! Suddenly started up again at 10.30pm about 5 mins apart so we went to hospital. Examined by mw (praying again she wouldn't say...."err 2cm dilated") but hurray!!! 9cm dilated. I could have jumped for joy but was getting in a bit of pain by now! Just time for some gas n air for 15 mins before Pearl popped out in a couple of pushes. That's the way to do it!

Congratulations to everyone else and wishing you all a speedy labour too. Lots of luck to everyone xxx

Mitchell81 · 01/05/2008 18:41

Congrats Snooks and baby Pearl

Good luck for your C-Section tomorrow, Trolleydolly

snooks · 01/05/2008 18:43

Oh yes, trolleydolly, good luck for your section tomorrow . You will soon be meeting your gorgeous baby!

IndigoBlue · 01/05/2008 19:24

Congrats to all with their babies!

Pina - Glad you got your section and didn't have to wait til 41 weeks! Hope you are doing ok.

GCG - great birth story, hope mine's that straightforward.

I'm 39 weeks today and jealous of all these babies being born, hope I don't have to wait too long!

BigBadMouse · 01/05/2008 20:02

Wow! They are coming thick and fast now aren't they!

Congratulations to Pina, GCG and Snooks.

Went for another scan today. It's put a possible spanner in the works for our babysitter plan. It will take them 2.5 hours to get to us but today the consultant has told me he would expect a quick labour and delivery - no more than 3 hours . It will be interesting as DH's work is 40 mins from home and the hospital is 1hr 15 mins at best at the moment due to loads of roadworks (they like to save them up for the tourist season for some reason ). DDs were 32 and 16 hours established so 3hrs might be a bit different. We'll see if he;s right!

Apparently 'Nugget's' kidneys haven't got too huge and he is NOT back to back anymore. Worryingly though the cord is wrapped round his neck. For some reason it has been a big worry for me this time round -no idea why - blood flow through the cord is still good so they aren't too worried, but when he mentioned it I nearly burst into tears. Funny how some things play on your mind.

Sweetbean hope you are feeling better.

Youcannotbeserious · 01/05/2008 20:19

OK, I am also getting jealous of all of these babies.......

I still have another 21 days!!!

Azaduhi · 01/05/2008 21:31

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 01/05/2008 21:48

That's 15 births. And it's only the 1st May?

pregnabrain · 01/05/2008 21:51

how many will we have by the end of May if we include your chickens? Are you doing a Hugh Fearnlea-Wassname?

goodcatholicgirl · 01/05/2008 22:33

mitchell81 I did have my IV anti-biotics but it ended up being about 10 mins before she was born (it's meant to be 4 hrs before, but with a 2.5 hr start to finish that was never gonna happen !!!)

snooks wow, your birth story sounds similar to mine...I had one urge to push and she was there!!! Well done you.

Gonna try and keep up with you all, although I am officially on 'the other side' now!

All of you who are feeling fed up, I know how you feel, but just keep remembering that it really can all just start AT ANY TIME!!!! Also, both my DD's were early, and there have been loads early on this thread already....you may not have as long a wait as you think!!!

Night all, just gonna put my littel peanut to bed .

GCG xxx

OP posts:
Azaduhi · 02/05/2008 01:42

to be honest i am gonna miss the massive posts of gcg and pina now that they are officialially on the other side

we need replacement moaners just kidding

i know you two are reading this and will keep us posted.

pina- hope you are recovering well from your section and hope to hear from you soon.

it can really happen anytime now for all of us which is quiet hard to imagine and soon we will all be on the postnatal thread if those little ones will allow us to go on MN in between

Pina: Now that I know you are able to read this, but not post. Keep on top of any painkillers offered, keep the morphine until you are happy to go without it. But don't give yourself to much just before they try get you to stand up, as you will feel very light headed. Glad Evie is sleeping well, problem about wards are noisy babies, hope you get a better night sleep tonight.

Rememeber as soon as you get up and about the recovery time is much quicker, so as soon as you get rid of all your drips etc- try get out of bed. I know easier said than done.

I am so pleased you are feeling better, long may it last.
Can't wait to see photos.

I wonder when you will get home?

otter1980 · 02/05/2008 07:35

i'm with Azaduhi!! everytime I step away from the computer a baby arrives...

Congratulations Snooks on little Pearl!! (dont know whats going on with the due may babies but we've has a lot of fairly calm/quick births so far, heres hoping that continues..)

Trolleydolly - good luck!!! before the end of the day you'll have your babe in arms!

Indigo - fingers crossed that baby starts shifting soon!

BBmouse - 3 hours? how do they know? oh yes, roads must be dug iup at the most inapropriate times...fingers crossed that all ok with baby xxx

YCBS - lol - I've got 17 official days left so i know how you feel (although my dates put it earlier)

duchess - yes we must have a chicken watch...

GCG/pina - am glad to see that despite having given birth recently you are both still MNetting

we (at current count) have 17 babies arrived... its only the 2nd!!!

well i didnt get any curry or sex last night... I did have backache and period type pains. I'm not getting excited at the moment, been going on since about 2pm yesterday but its not how i imagine contractions to be. and its infrequent. so i think we may have something soon (although I thought that when i had a show and look how that turned out [humm] and i did have something similar last week that went away.

asics has gone quiet... was due yesterday...

Baiya Lol i have an image of you on a space hopper bouncing down the road to do last minute shopping !!!

Trolleydolly71 nice to hear from you Good luck today xx

Snooks Congratulations on the arrival of Pearl so glad that you also had a good birth! xx

BigBadMouse Try not to worry to much(much much easier said than done) im sure if they had been realy concerned they would have whipped you in for a c section.

Otter1980 Maybe all eyes should be on you next!!?? Fingers crossed you get some good productive pains soon !! X

Well i have to ask all of you who have had there second baby is the head coming out bit AS BAD AS IT WAS ON THE FIRST???? that's the only bit im realy scared about this time round (Please be totally honest)XXX

sweetbean · 02/05/2008 08:36

I want to have my baby now and im still 22 DAYS away from my due date !!

BigBadMouse · 02/05/2008 09:37

otter - I did wonder how he worked that out too. Apparently it is to do with him being my third, not back to back (unlike DDs) and in an ideal position for a quick exit . There was also some other reasons mentioned but by that time I had realised 3 hours is probably not long enough for me to get an epidural and I had tuned out with panic . Hope your pains turn out to be something productive. IME both times I had what you describe and DDs arrived within 2-3 days of it. You're due the day after me so get in line Mrs!

Anyway, I'm not entirely convinced with the labour estimate but I'm going to have to act as it is fact to get things sorted in time.

sweetbean - can't really comment on the head question as I had an epidural (not that it took all over, so I could still feel a fair bit). All I can say IME was that that part of the labour seemed easier the second time round. Sorry, not much help am I?

DH being a PITA - he goes through phases like this. Crap timing as per usual. I'm on here this morning because I am trying to pretend RL does not exist...off to find more threads where I can ramble on nonsensically (as per usual)

Youcannotbeserious · 02/05/2008 09:44

Hey! I'm up for the job of replacement moaner!!

I have had an absolutely sh*t week - had DH home all week and had romantical notions of the two of us getting everything ready for the baby and just pottering together.... Didn't quite turn out like that and DH has been in a bad / odd mood all week....

Plus, he's not coming to my consultant's appointment with me today... and we have the kids all weekend and everyone will disappear again on Tuesday morning and I'll be on my own again.....

On top of that, I still have 21 days until my due date and another 14 days before I leave work....

i am feeling bl**dy ENORMOUS now and I could do with some larger maternity clothes, but can't really justify them at this point.....

I'm struggling with everything I need to do - still walking the dog 6-7 miles a day (I swear I'm getting slower by the day!) and feel SOOOOOOOOOO tired now!

Anyone got any plans for the weekend? We're supposed to be off to London etc, but not sure I have the energy or motivation right now!

otter1980 · 02/05/2008 10:17

YCBS - 6 miles? I walked round the park this morning (i was up, it was early, I've become bored of daytime TV) and I was proud of that...

pina - love that despite c-section and being in hosp you're still posting! truely dedicated!!! even childbirth doesnt stop pina propping up the virtual bar

sweetbean - as i have a while to go im worried that maybe im just wishing that the baby shows and reading too much into it

BBmouse - well if you did have 3 hours you'd be following the trend on here.. however if its all over very quickly you might not have time to thing about needing an epidural? or is that impossible? not really sure...

sorry to those putting up with annoying/ rubbish DP's, mine scared me this morning by setting off to work early, smiling and generally full of the joys of spring... I want my grumpy old man back...

am now getting slightly excited that something might be happening... although its slowed down. So as I am a complete novice to this baby game - what do you think?
started yesterday afternoon, (definantely there at 4.30) have period like ache but its constant and have lower back ache (which i always get during periods) however keep getting very short stabby pains as well (which were fairly regular last night but not really happening now). didnt sleep very well at all. I felt sick yesterday but now im just hungry?

podglet · 02/05/2008 10:36

Congrats to Snooks and Pina - I cannot believe how many babies we have already and it is only the 2nd - my due date actually

Have both children at home today by myself for the first time - eeek! All ok so far (touches wood with crossed fingers)

YCBS - 6 miles?!?! Good grief, I couldn't do that now, let alone heavily pg.

Duchess - you could all hatch at the same time! I've always wanted to do that with duck eggs but DP won't let me!

Pina - congrats and another fab name. Hats off to you posting whilst in hosp - I couldn't fight with Patientline any longer than it took to make a phone call!

Snooks - congrats too on your little girl

Wonder how Pazza is doing with her babies?
