pregnabrain · 01/05/2008 08:18

Hello!!!

IT'S MAY!!!

Can't quite believe it. Where has the time gone?

congratulations casserole - sorry to hear Leo got stuck. Perhaps there was a pineapple in the way ? Sounds like you're making a very speedy recovery from your c/s if you're already home. that's great.

pina - am a bit confused - how come you're wanting a sweep if you want a c/s? i thought you didn't want labour to kick off? or do you want it to start now so that you can have your c/s earlier?

baiyu - so pleased for you that dh is finally on his way home. what a lovely reunion to have! awwww....am going all bleary eyed.

right. am off to uro-gynae clinic for a row after a row with my obstetrician yesterday. i hate doctors. they're so arrogant and patronising.

pregnabrain · 01/05/2008 08:20

sorry Casserole, just realised you probably don't know what on earth the pineapple joke is about. It's occurred to me that you were probably...otherwise engaged...while all that was being discussed on here.

don't want to come across as flippant about the section .

pregnabrain · 01/05/2008 08:21

and SORRY to anyone on here who's a doctor . Obviously, I don't hate you .

Am suffering from foot in mouth disease today.

Fleurie76 Hi Hun it will be lovely to have some company!! good luck with the ECV xxx

Casserole So glad to hear that you and Leo are well and home i was worrying that we hadn't heard anything !! Congratulations xxxxx

Baiyu V excited for you seeing your DP just 2 sleeps to go now!! im not sure why he looks so familiar maybe he just has one of thoughts faces????

Pina Ive got everything crossed for you babe and really hope that a) things start to happen and you can have your C section b) that you DON"T get that crappy midwife today and c)That if nothing has happened you can get your sweep to start it all off !!!!

BigBadMouse

Mitchell81 hope that baba stays in until C section day !!

Magicfairy sending you lots of "Turn Baby Turn" Vibes so that baba's not back to back !

Well i had a crappy nights sleep and woke up at 4.30 with really bad stomach ache(not contractions pains) so got up and read! im feeling a bit better now but just have a sore stomach so im hoping that it go's soon or turns in to contractions [wishful thinking icon]

Anyway i hope that you are all and that we get some more babys coming out soon !!(Pina im looking at you babe!)

asicsgirl · 01/05/2008 09:57

Casserole congratulations! Well done! glad to hear you are home already and recovering well. X

Fleurie good luck for the ECV!

mumblesmummy glad the twins are doing well. Good luck for the consultant appointment/ induction.

pina thanks for the positive vibes! Sorry about your sweep and the crap MW. It's sod's law isn't it, as ?Sweetbean said. Here's hoping it all kicks off naturally for you! Re. waiting in for the MW - won't she ring and let you know roughly when she's coming? Maybe you could ask for this so you don't have to sit in all day.

azaduhi bad luck re. penalty charge (and pina too!). Hope you have a better day today.

sweetbean re. sweeps - as Pina says I think some people find them painful, others don't. The MW got in there and had a sweep around when I was already in labour last time - about 3cm dilated - and it was uncomfortable but not painful. Good luck!

bigbadmouse glad to hear about the babysitter - must be nice for both of you to know that DP can be at the birth.

pregnabrain good luck for the clinic trip! Hope you get a result.

Everything still ticking over here... the odd contraction/ BH/ whatever... had a bit of a show this morning. Ho hum... off for a walk in a minute. Have a good day everyone!

asicsgirl · 01/05/2008 09:59

oh and forgot to say that I had a nice MW appointment yesterday... Baby is 2/5 engaged (hence all the discomfort yesterday) and she said she had little doubt we'd have the baby in our arms in the next couple of days Hope she's right... I'm being my usual pessimistic self... She also said 'Ah, it almost makes me wish I was on call the next couple of nights'. What a sweetie.

Azaduhi · 01/05/2008 10:27

hi may girls...it's finally may yieppy

i am of to hospital today to see physio today for spd. lets see what she says also because hospital is not far from my work place i might aswell pop into work for a visit, i left 2 months ago and haven't been intouch since.

because my workplace (a nursery) was DD's nursery i am going to take DD with me, just hope she is going to behave at physio, so after she can play with her friends which she hasn't seen for 2 months.
problably be back home tonight totally exhaused..lets see.

otter1980 · 01/05/2008 10:41

Casserole - YAY!!! welcome little Leo James, good to hear that you are doing ok after c-section xx

Baiyu - how exciting, he'll be shocked when he sees how big the bump is!! (sending baby stay in till daddy gets home vibes...)

Pina - show doesnt have to have blood in it from what i've read... anything happened? keep us posted!!

mitchell - dont mention hospital bags - i keep thinking i've missed something and want to re-pack it!! (i have already dont this twice...)

BBmouse - yes explaining pineapple chunks could be interesting, I've thought the same thing about the EPO as well though... good news about the babysitter though, hope it works out for you.

magicfairy - I spend a lot of time crawling too, have been told baby is in right position but as shes been such a little jumping bean the entire time I worry that shes moved - DP thinks its hillarious to find me sprawlled across the birthing ball, watching me get up is apparently even funnier...

pregnabrain - poor you with the row, hope your row today goes better for you (fingers crossed)

asics - ooooooo next couple of days? get walking!!!

I dont want to go out because everytime i step away from the computer something happens... and we are now in actual due month (hurray!!) although we're all so impatient (13 already here, talk of pineapple insertation and buckets of rasberry leaf tea...) DP has started trying to sneak up behind me to see what im writing about... he's very confused, bless him, he's like "so you all talk about pregnancy? is that it? why is it so facinating?"

Fleurie76 · 01/05/2008 11:03

It's finally May! I wonder who will have the first official May baby?

asicsgirl sounds like it could be you - fingers crossed!

Casserole congrats on Leo (lovely name) and hope you are doing well at home

Magic fairy good luck with getting baby to turn, get bending over that ball! I'd also second azaduhi on tens.co.uk they seem to be a bit cheaper and do a 7 week loan. I'm intending on getting mine from them if the baby turns and I don't get booked in for a section!

pregnabrain hope you don't have too much of a stressful row at the clinic today.

I've managed to spend every day of my first week of maternity leave in the house and it's driving me mad! Been waiting for a delivery that was supposed to come every day this week and is definately coming today - if it doesn't I think I will be having a stressful row myself!
Also getting the carpet in the nursery fitted today - very excited about that!

Happy first of May to all - bring on the babies!

Hurrah Casserole - lovely name!
Hurrah, it's May! DS is 18 months today and I have just received the Mumsnet update thing for him - it's him to a T!

Just popped some new pics of Libby on my profile.

Who will be next to pop, place your bets ladies...

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 01/05/2008 11:48

Congratulations to all the new parents.

I have just put some chicken eggs into the incubator - they take 21 days to hatch. So which will come first the chicken or the baby?

baiyu · 01/05/2008 15:14

Happy May-day! Let's see those babies!

Thanks for all the sharing in my DP-nearly-here excitement! I called him at 3am this morning just to check there weren't any problems and I've just had a message saying he's in Hong Kong so the paranoia of him getting stuck somewhere has lessened a bit! 2 sleeps...

pina hope that midwife has shown up and doesn't keep you waiting all afternoon.

sweetbean thanks for sorting the list, I was a bit nervous about doing it so glad you kept me right, every lb counts! Maybe you've seen my DP as the face of Edinburgh postgrad courses?! A likely story. Makes me laugh that he models for the uni!

bigbadmouse LOL at nearly 3 in a row, what do you get up to every August?!

I have huge amounts of energy today, hope this isn't my body getting ready, not yet! Just found an adult size space hopper, off to blow it up and see if it's nice to roll around on. Hehe. Might use up some of this nervous energy if nothing else! Hope everyone's having a great day.

goodcatholicgirl · 01/05/2008 15:17

Well girls, what can I say?? I have read thru all the thread and thanks for all your messages, but I have too much to say to do personal comments today (sorry to be selfish).

As denny told you, Cerys was born early Weds am. Here is what happened....I think you will find it quite inspiring, esp if it's your second baby!!

GCG birth story
Having been a complete miserable cow on Tuesday night following my MW appt, I had a bath and went to bed early. Actually blubbed in bed cos I felt so fed up. DH wanted sex but I wasn't in the mood at all so denied!!
2:30am, woke up for the loo, had abdo pain but couldn't work out if it was 'bowel' pains or contractions. Had a few contractions which were painful, but not too bad. After the previous day, didn't want to believe it could actually be happening.
Woke DH after half an hour as they were getting stronger. He suggested we ring my sis (half hr drive away) to come and look after DD, and I still kept saying 'let's just wait and see what happens, it might be a false alarm'. Luckily he insisted! We rang the hospital and they said if I was dealing with the pain I could stay home a bit longer if I wanted, but then I had 2 strong contractions while I was on the phone to them (they seemd to be only mins apart straight away, similar to DD1) so they suggested I came in. Luckily we are only a 5 min drive away. Got to hospital, got checked by MW, and I enquired if I was dilated at all yet and she said ' umm yes, 9 cm'!!!!!! !! Then I said that my community MW had told me she was on call tonight so I could ask them to call her in to deliver baby and she laughed and said 'she won't have time to get here, this baby will be here in 15 mins or so' !!! I was then a kind of mixture of scared and relieved! I had ONE urge to push, I pushed, and out she came, just like that......it really was that quick. I had gas and air towards the end, but didn't even have time to get the TENS machine out of the bag!!!! 2.5 hrs start to finish!!
No tearing or stitches (RLT??!!)

So I am chuffed to bits. Obviously a bit sore but nowhere near as much as with DD1.
I didn't say as much beforehand cos we didn't know what we were having but I really wanted another girl, I love the fact I have 2 girls, and so does DH.

So here is my advice.....

Have sex lots (we managed 3 times in 4 days!)
RLT
Eat curry (we had curry the night before I went into labour!!)
Go for a long walk (I had walked about 1.5 hrs around shops that afternoon)

I am over the moon. Cerys is doing really well, sleeping lots and feeding well (BF). DD1 so far quite smitten with her little sis and doesn't seem to have had her nose put out of joint.

Will post again soon.

Lots of love to you all and I sincerely hope at least some of you if not all have as positive and easy birth as I did .

GCG xxx

P.S. Something else to remember for your hospital bags...change for the car park....thank god it was the middle of the night when they don't check!!!!

Welcome Evie Rose, what a beautiful name. Well done you!

goodcatholicgirl · 01/05/2008 15:19

...and well done GCG, I'm inspired! So glad you and Cerys are doing so well. Another gorgeous name and a gorgeous baby I'm sure. Well done!

Mitchell81 · 01/05/2008 16:31

Oh well done Pina, Congratulations. I am so pleased for you, that must of all happened very quickly. Can't wait to hear all about it.

GCG: thanks for posting, did you have your IV antibiotics in time? Can't believe how quick you were.

Baiyu: enjoy your spacehopper

magicfairy · 01/05/2008 16:33

Congrats to Pina and GCG, well done the both of you, beautiful names aswell.

Must say I am jealous, am feeling very fed up today, crappy nights sleep, heartburn real bad, which means i have to sleep upright, which in turn means i sleep slumped and i am trying to get bubs back away from my back and thats not gonna help. DH also decided to get pissed last night as Chelasea won the bloody football, how inconsiderate !

Been reading up on back to back and getting it moved and everything is saying, crawl, ball and NOT sitting in front of a computer for a long time !

Am also feeling real tired today, i cant be arsed to do anything, i managed to take DS to the park this afternoon, to be told after 15 mins that we had to leave as the council had come to cut the grass!

Thanks for the advice on the tens machine website, but i just ordered one from mothercare this morning, hopefully it will come quickly. Although I keep looking down the due list and the 17th seems so far away!

Anyway sorry about the moaning, better go and put the laundry away!

Hugs to all of you feeling fed up and ready to pop and stay in there vibes to all of those wanting to wait!
