Morning all,

No news here . Had my sister come and stay last night 'just in case' (she would rather do that than be woken at 3am and have to drive half hr to us). I had a couple of period type pains/BHC's in the night, but nothing again this morning. I was so excited yesterday when I got my show, now I just feel back to square one . I know it's silly, I haven't even reached my due date yet (big sympathy to bobsmum and sending lots of 'come out baby' vibes to you!!!!!)

mumblesmummy so glad to hear your sisters twins are doing well, what a relief for you, and it sounds as if your Nana is on the mend too, last time I looked. I can't understand them saying to you that the baby 'might not be ready' at 40 or even 39 weeks???????? How ridiculous.

Right, I have a friend coming with her kids for lunch, then midwife, then something else to cure the boredom, maybe a trip to the shops with DH and DD.....

Will check in later...

Congratulations to Iarel and Mocat on the birth of your babies.

Nice to see you Mumblesmummy- sorry you are having such a hard time at the moment, hopefully thursday brings good news. I don't think you need to worry about baby being induced early, one or two weeks should have no problem. As you can see by all the babies been born early and all seem to be thriving.
And congratulations on your baby nieces.

Blobsmummy: Glad your bp is settling, I don't know how you are managing to go back and forward to hospital with DD.

Bobsmum: I hope you are next-it isn't fair is it!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Pazza and Casserole are doing well with there new arrivals. Look forward to hearing there announcements.

Only one more day and then the official due in May babies can arrive.

I have spent the morning tidying- definetley no nesting feeling though, just couldn't bear to look at the mess anymore.

thefortbuilder · 29/04/2008 10:12

mumblesmummy agree with JBR what WOULD your mw think! and given term is anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks methinks she is a little misguided

goodcatholicgirl · 29/04/2008 10:12

horseshoe sounds like you had a tough time this morning, poor you, the last thing you need at this stage. Hope DD behaves herself from now on. And don't worry about the comment you made to the other mum, serves her right for being such a nosey cow!!!

otter1980 · 29/04/2008 10:13

iarel - congratulations!!! hope the soreness eases soon enough (although you have a gorgeous baby to make up for it!!)

GCG - i had a show last week, didnt want to say anythig in case you were going to have something happen... I rung the hospital all excited and they told me it could be weeks. stuck in bloody limbo...

JBR - no tears? !!

YCBS - i too am planning on my bits staying private until baby wants out..

blobsmummy - glas to hear that it wasnt too bad, fingers crossed for the sods law method and very good news re blood pressure & home birth!! yay!

eviction notice to bobsmum's baby!! maybe baby will show as soon as you lose the help that MIL has been given (following blobsmummy's law of sod method..) fingers crossed anyway...

OOOOOOOOOO!!!! asics, that sounds promising, also can have some of that vindaloo over here?

mummblesmummy - according to medical textbooks/internet/my midwifes your baby is full term from 37 weeks and would require no special care (unless other complications) Our consultant is very keen to get our baby induced out at 38 weeks (GD). so dont worry, although i dont like my consultant very much I do know that his priority is mine and baby's health. good new re your sisters babies and her doing well. xx

sweetbean - dont worry, if you are the last one standing we'll come in and keep you company

DH has spent all pregnancy moaning about how long it is etc and how he wants baby out, last night he said that he thought in about 2 weeks he'd be ready [hmn] I was in the middle of a really painful BH contraction at the time. i gave him the look of death...

bobsmum · 29/04/2008 10:48

Woooohooooo!!!!!

Show this morning - lots and lots of gunk (TMI!) and big deep contractions every 10/15 mins!!!!

I'm pacing the floor and drinking tea.

Just got back from the GP - dd has ear infection. So I'm breathing deeply through contractions while trying to give MIL instructions on antibiotic dosage

Dh coming home as I type - should be here by 12 ish.

I might have a baby sooooooooon

Saw m/w in passing while I was in the surgery and she listened to baby - very happy baby She said relaxing bath and lots of walking.

Driving while contracting is not recommended thoguh - luckily there are lots of laybys b/w my house and surgery!

I'm gonna have a baby! I'm gonna have a baby!!!!

Will keep you posted if it all stops - It Had Better Not!!!!

bobsmum · 29/04/2008 10:49

Have stopped MIL putting suitcases in car

asicsgirl · 29/04/2008 10:53

Wahay bobsmum! Fantastic!! Good luck for the labour and look forward to hearing the news!! x

horseshoe · 29/04/2008 11:01

Go for it bobsmum - Very excited for you

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 29/04/2008 11:19

Good news bobsmum!

So many babies and it's not even the right month yet!

I have been given a very attractive girdle maternity belt by the physio to ease the downward pressure. It is helping a bit. She's also given me about 6ft of tubigrip that I can pull on like an enormous sock. I haven't actually tried that yet. Not sure what I can wear over it! I could use it for Egyptian mummy jokes for the DCs amusement?

DD2 and I have just unearthed a box with '0-18 months Boy' written on it. Loads of clothes. But not much in the way of newborn. So no idea what I've done with those. We sorted them out and stuck some in the washing machine.

I have also remembered that I need to pack a hospital bag in case I don't get my homebirth. Talk about slack.

Is everyone else organised?

Azaduhi · 29/04/2008 11:21

Pina Glad that you are feeling a bit more positive today!! xx

Mummbles glad that things are finally starting to look up for you xx

Thanks to all who said that they will keep me company while i wait and wait and wait for this baby to arrive i would be soo lonely without you all to help me pass the time !! xx

pregnabrain · 29/04/2008 14:33

Hooray for Bobsmum!!! I'm so thrilled for you. It must have been all our eviction vibes coming your way .

Many congratulations to Iarel as well. Isla is a very pretty name.

We've got an ENORMOUS pineapple sitting in our kitchen and, after all this fanjo talk, I can't even look at it without my eyes watering .

mumblesmummy - am really shocked at your midwife saying that baby might not be ready at 40 weeks. Sounds like she's in need of some serious retraining.

No big chat with dh last night but got a nice goodnight kiss and hug so things seem to be ok again. Phew.

otter1980 · 29/04/2008 15:04

woohoo!!!!! come on bobsmum!!!! any news????

anyone heard anything from Pazza? she'll be all cuddled up with her baby!!

duchess - lol re giant tubigrip, have an image of you in it looking like a snake that swallowed a beachball!! I am organised... but only because i've had a lot of time and i worry...

Pina - have a nap!!! tidying can wait... will get my revenge on DP, he forgets that I will soon not be pregnant and all whale/godzilla etc comments have been noted...

Pregnabrain - good to hear you and DH are better. you still eying that pineapple?

im so of all the babies!!... i just saw my midwife and apparently Rasberry leaf tea can can also help get things going/ continue stuff.. am now going to commence drinking it by the bucketload (partly to spite DP...) head is engaged though... GCG what was Denny saying about EPO?

Youcannotbeserious · 29/04/2008 15:52

BOBSMUM yeah!!!!

Otter I can totally sympathise - DH asked me if I was planning to lose weight once the baby is here!!! I've only put on a stone!!! (I do feel like a whale though!!)

Anyway, I need some advice, Ladiiiiessss........ What exactly is a show? (sorry, green as cabbage first time mum!!) I think I just had one, but, TBH, I'm not really sure and it's not really the sort of thing I can ask in the office!!!!

AM I the only one who wants bubba to stay just where he is???? He's got another 3 weeks of cooking to do before we're ready for the meeting and greeting!!!!!

Also, Dh has decided he no longer likes our chosen name - so we've got to decide on another one pronto!!!!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 29/04/2008 16:21

youcannot in plainest English, the mucus plug or show is like a thick lump of snot, it's sometimes a whitish colour or a bit pink or even with an obvious red bloody bit in it. It can be quite small, ie. teaspoon size or almost a handful (my sisters apparently)!

Does that sound like what you saw?

Youcannotbeserious · 29/04/2008 16:42

Err.... yes.........

(For fear of TMI: Was white, but quite a lot!!!!)

(thank you, Duchess!!)

asicsgirl · 29/04/2008 17:03

Afternoon all...

pina glad you got some sleep. Don't overdo the tidying up... enjoy the cleaners!

mumblesmummy so glad your situation is improving. x

duchess the tubigrip sounds sexy maybe you could team it with big shoulder pads and high heels for an 80's body-con look...

Know what you mean about the newborn stuff, I don't know where ours has gone either! I think DS just grew incredibly fast. I remember the 0-3 months stuff being HUGE on him and going out and buying smaller stuff, but I think it was literally a matter of days... so maybe we just didn't have that much of it anyway. I also remember a lot of inexpertly fixed nappies and poo everywhere, so maybe the stuff just got chucked!

YCBS for the show! and at your DH for changing his mind about the name... We had a name lined up for DS for ages, then changed our minds for about a week almost at the end, then changed them back again! It's a difficult decision!

No huge progress here, but I'm happy with that. Been for lots of walks today, feeling fine, still having BH/ prelabour contractions on and off which are pretty uncomfortable but not awful yet. My mum is picking DS up from nursery - for the practice! - and she and stepdad are going out for a meal tonight so DP and I will have the evening to ourselves

Evening all,

Well I was feeling quite and earlier as I saw the MW at 1pm, all ready for her to give me a 'sweep', but when I asked she said she couldn't, i.e. wasn't allowed, until I am 7 days overdue !!! She said it's a new thing, I don't know if it's local policy, cos I know lots of people who have had a sweep before their due date. I have still had NOTHING at all since my show yesterday, and the MW also confirmed that it doesn't really mean much, cos it could still be weeks . I felt so disheartened when I came out, I managed not to but I just felt like crying (frustration more than anything).
Now I know that I am being completely unreasonable as I haven't even reached my due date yet, but I suppose I am finding it hard cos DD was early. I feel so ready for this baby. The thought of another 2 weeks+ wait is way to depressing. I know this is selfish as loads of women go overdue, but I just felt really down.

Anyway, I decided to go to the shops for some retail therapy. DH was painting and DD asleep. I got some shoes in the sale, a nail varnish, some night cream, some little pressies for DD 'from the baby' (just hairclips and bracelets and a book) and some birthday presents for upcoming May birthdays. I feel a lot better now, and I've had some lovely texts from my friends telling me to make the most of my time with DH and DD while I can, and one friend said 'at the end of the day, when baby comes all you will get is sleepless nights and sore tits so make the most of it!!' which really made me laugh.
I'm sorry to wallow in such stupid self pity. I genuinely feel better and more positive now, and I know I am being very unreasonable to feel like this at this stage.
The days just seem to drag cos I can't do much. Would love to be swimming everyday but can't even do that cos of chlorine allergy .

duchess I assume you realise the tubigrip is to be folded over and not worn as a sock ???!!! It should stretch from just below your fanjo to top of your bump.

bobsmum Very excited for you, you really deserve your bubba now as you are already overdue. Keep us posted!!

Otter1980 Denny was saying that EPO tablets can apparently be inserted up the fanjo to help ripen the cervix. I have no medical background to this claim so I would do it at your peril.

YCBS yay for your show too, maybe we need a showgirls thread!!!!!! LOL!!

asicsgirl Hope you have a lovely evening with DP .

pinacolada I can totally understand you being worried about your weight gain, but Denny put on 5.5 stone with her DS (2 yrs ago). She was a size 8 when she got PG and at full term weighed more than her 6 ft DH (over 15 stone!!!!). She lost a really significant amount within about 10 day of giving birth, a lot of it was fluid, so maybe you are the same. I'm sure if she is reading this she may even pop up and tell you how much she lost so quickly. Don't worry luvvie.

Right, DH has his BF over to watch the champions league game, so I think that leaves me with Gok Wan....

Oh, and I checked with MW, definitely OK to have sex once you have had your show.....that should help kill some time .
