Not sure if anyone else has started a new thread as our other one ran out of room, but here we go...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Azaduhi · 30/04/2008 13:11

just came back from my GP Antenatal check and i am sooo

all he did was feeling the tummy and check the heart beat said it's all fine and kicked me out again no bloodpressure, no urine sample or measurments.

he then writes in my notes that fundus measures 36cm -well how does he know he just felt my tummy he didn't measure anything.

comment in book was "doing well" that all and he said to me i'll see you in 4 weeks if you haven't had the baby by then. me repling: i am due in 2 weeks, so don't thinks thats gonna happen. GP says: well sometimes babies take their time.
thanks for rubbing it in ass h o l e.

i hate to have shared care with GP and MW but that's how it's done over here.
if i think that my next antenatal check with MW is on the 13th ( 3days before EDD) than you'll understand that i would have expected a bit more today.

seriously thinking of changing GP's after this LO is born as they are sooo useless.

JackBlackRoady · 30/04/2008 14:05

thank you sweetbean and pina!

the bf'ing is going great, she is changing what she wants at the moment i think. that website is ace, it really helps me, i read it every time she is latched on. I gave up bf'ing with DS and really regretted it (I am too lazy to get up and heat up formula in the middle of the night ) so i am pleased she is doing so well this time!

thinking of you all! come on babies!

JackBlackRoady · 30/04/2008 14:07

azaduhi - for you - what an idiot - can you make an earlier appmt with the midwife?

asicsgirl · 30/04/2008 14:23

Wow what a rollercoaster this thread is! Should be made into a soap... I'd watch it!

bobsmum and GCG hooray! Well done to both of you. So exciting! And lovely names, to echo everyone else. Can't wait to hear all the details...

azaduhi so sorry to hear about idiot GP. If you're worried about stuff hope you can get an earlier MW appt as JBR suggests.

JBR so glad the bf is going well!

Hallo macaco! Nice to see you. Glad you're doing well.

Well things are still ticking over here. Had some quite strong contractions and was pretty uncomfortable yesterday evening, but then they tailed off completely again once i was in bed Got very despondent this morning as bub had got himself into a position where he was banging up against cervix/ whatever the whole time, so every three or four steps I got a painful shock! I was saying to DP, if these were contractions I'd be jumping about happily, but... We went for a long walk and up and down lots of steps which got the contractions going again, but they stop when I sit down. At least bub seems to have moved his head so not painful any more. DP keeps saying to me 'This is exactly what happened last time, maybe this is just how your body does it' and I know he's right, but it's just so frustrating!!! Ah well maybe I will do a GCG and go from 0-60 in 2.5 hours...!

mumblesmummy · 30/04/2008 14:25

Congratulations Bobsmum and GCG!! And well done.

I've got 11 days to go urgh. Midwife said she thinks consultant will induce though due to the SPD, and my appt with the consultant is tomorrow so I'm hoping he'll book me in for Sunday... otherwise it'll be the following Sunday I guess. Or the sunday after???????arghhhhhh.

Baby's measuring 8lb at mo. Great. No idea how that's guna get out my fanjo. With a lot of prayers and swearing I'm guessing. He's bobbed back up to only 3/5 engaged!!Grrr.

Twins are doing well again today. I get to go and see them on Friday. Can't wait. Thanks everyone who's sent them nice wishes etc.

Bring on more babies today!!!

podglet · 30/04/2008 14:36

Hurrah! Welcome to the 2 new babies! See you on the other side...

Mumblesmummy - glad to hear the twins are doing well. How is DP doing? I haven't caught up with your other thread yet. Look after yourself now and get ready for that baby!

It's nearly May - let's bring on the babies!

Hi all

Azaduhi Sorry about your crappy GP !! xx

Pina Also sorry that you had to see the crap MW its bloody sod fecking law isn't it! but on the bright side if you have had a bit of a show then maybe the time is closer than you think !!

Well i actually had a really good MW appointment compared to everyone else, and i get to go back every week now cos im so NUROTIC (how sad am i to be pleased about that !!) I asked about a sweep to see when they do them here in Cardiff and its only if you go passed 41 wks that they will do it, so im hoping upon hope that i don't go that far over !! plus Ive heard they really hurt!! is it true??

Azaduhi · 30/04/2008 15:56

i don't know if i can have another appointment, i am not really concerned or worried about anything at the moment but just to imagine i will be 39+4 wks at next appointment seems soooo long.

if anything worries me, i guess i'll call MW directly.

oh GP has written in notes 5/5 engaged as far as i remember from previous posts it means it's only 1/5 engaged isn't. LO is still laying quiet high up pressing against my ribs therefore don't think it's fully engaged.
as it's my 2nd pregnancy i am not really concerned about this as i have read that head can still engage until going into labour if it's not the first child.

Azaduhi · 30/04/2008 15:59

i think today must be my total crap day, forgot to mention that it was pissing down with rain on my way to gp and on the way back.
got through the door to discover that dh got a penalty charge notice for entering a box junction so thats another £60 wasted for nothing.

otter1980 · 30/04/2008 16:10

ooo sorry to hear about mean drs/miswifes/not giving sweeps and other general nasties.. am feeling a bit that way out myself ..

cheer up everyone - soon we will all have lovely babies (like those lucky buggers on the post-natal thread) and we can all talk about poo and nappies and how small they are... I went for lunch with my friend today (and am going tomorrow and friday with other friends, if mumofk's method doesnt work i might have to have that sodding induction) and there were babies everywhere... with little hands and big eyes and cute outfits and how lovely are babies? I was never a big baby coo-er before being pregnant but I'm making up for it now...

Fleurie76 · 30/04/2008 16:33

Hello all,
Not been on here for ages and I'm amazed at all the babies! Agree the names are lovely - I am getting inspiration!
Congrats to GCG and Bobsmum for the most recent arrivals.
Sweetbean - I feel the same about last woman standing, due the day before you so I'm likely to be around - now that I am finally on maternity leave as of this week, I can hopefully catch up on this thread.
JBR thanks for the link to bfing website - very useful.
My baby has been breech for quite a while, I'm booked into for an ECV next week to attempt a turn - a bit nervous about that!
Hope everyone is well

thefortbuilder · 30/04/2008 16:57

just to add about the names.... samuel's full name is samuel james nathaniel llewellyn surname! how about that for a mouthful!

good luck anyone who is due imminently or over

Casserole · 30/04/2008 19:21

Just a little note to say that Leo James was born on 25th April at 00:20 weighing 7lbs 8oz. After getting to 9cm at home in pretty quick time the little man got his head well and truly stuck and so it ended up being a c-section but we were well cared for and although I lost a lot of blood during the section which meant we were kept in a bit longer than usual we are now home and recovering well.

We are loving being a family (though the cats aren?t sure yet!!) and are very thankful for our little man.

Will read more and post propely soon

baiyu · 30/04/2008 19:57

Babies babies babies! Congratulations Mocat, iarel, bobsmum, GCG, and Casserole! Well done all of you and such gorgeous names. (Ooh and congrats mumblesmummy on your new nieces, so glad they're doing well). I absolutely love Cerys bus DP says we can't use it cos we're not Welsh, ditto Orla cos we're not Irish... I need to fall in love with a Scottish girls name (but I am SO convinced I'm having a boy I've barely thought about girls names!)

Speaking of DP he's finally on his way! He'll be here on Saturday and he's currently on a 24 hour train across China. After 3 and a half months apart he's now only 3 sleeps away, hooray! It's more exciting than Christmas.

JBR so glad you and Isla are getting good at breastfeeding, thanks for the website, saved it for future reference.

Sorry Azaduhi and pinacolada that you've had crap GP/midwife appointments, it's really not the time for them to be letting you down!

asicsgirl Chinese school is all rather familiar to me, I've spent my time in China doing a mix of teaching at primary schools, kindergartens and senior middle schools (it was a 6 month teaching job in a middle school that took me out there initially) as well as time spent studying at 3 different universities (still trying to master the language). Even in he 4 years I've been back and forth I've noticed so many changes, I think you'd get quite a shock!

sweetbean my DP went to school in Winchester and grew up near Oxford. Hmm...

A wee bit of encouragement for those going over their due dates - in France pregnancy is counted as 41 weeks so think French and you're not late! Don't know if that helps but thought it was interesting!

Come on you babies in demand and stay put those who are not quite ready! As soon as DP gets here it's all systems go - lots of sex, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple and anything else I can think of! Can't wait.
Big hugs to you all lovely ladies

Congratulations Casserole, glad that you are home and everything is fine now.

Sorry to Pina and Azaduhi about your rubbish doctors and midwives

Macaco: Glad things are going well

Mumblesmummy: Hope the consultant decides to induce you early

Fleurie: Good Luck with the ECV

Baiyu: You must be so excited, hope the next few day fly by.

JBR: Nice to see you, hope you managed to get out the house today

Sweetbean: hope your midwife appointment and Day without DD went well

I am so boring, done nothing all day except some baking and putting afew last minute things in my hospital bag. Nothing to report except I think baby has dropped, seems to feel much lower done and heavy. One and half weeks till my section, hopefully the next week goes quickly.

For those who think things could be starting, Good luck hope everything goes quickly

Azaduhi · 30/04/2008 21:13

congrats casserole..we all have been thinking of you while you where away
all the best

BigBadMouse · 30/04/2008 21:49

Hello everyone

Congratulations to everyone who has their little bundles to cuddle already.

Just wanted to add that I too will not be able to look at a pineapple in the same way for a while. What I wonder though is what if you went down the 'pineapple chunks' route an then shortly went into labour. How on earth would you explain that one to the MW?

No idea when nugget is going to arrive - today would have been interesting as DD2 was 2 yesterday and DD1 was 4 the day before so I could have done 'three in a row'.

I think we may have a possible babysitter for the DDs when I go into labour - hope that works out as DH is very upset about possibly missing the birth.

Milk is in, had shows, lots of BH but still not convinced anything will happen - totally unorganised here anyway. I plan to not go into labour unless I have a clean and tidy home (HA! never then!). That said, I have packed my hospital bag - WooHoo - never done one before so it took a while to think through. Don't think anything is imminent but at least I'll be able to keep up with this thread when there is only me and a few others left on here (prob stuffing pineapples into every oriface )

KangaAndRoo · 30/04/2008 21:51

wow all these babies posted today!!!!!

and even bigger wow GCG!! wtg girl!!

pina if you get the cow of a mw....and she starts....just say..'hey..are you in my body? NO so back the f**k off!' Fingers crossed you get the nice one who will give you a sweep!!

xx

Azaduhi · 30/04/2008 22:05

blimey we started this thread on monday and already have 100 posts...we're a really chatty (bored) bunch of preggies and not anymore preggies.

magicfairy · 30/04/2008 22:13

Congratualtions and welcome to all those new mums and babies, its all very exciting!!
I havent been on here since Sunday and after reading through pages of posts Im a bit zonked and cant remeber anything!

I saw a midwife today, my useless one had to cancel my homw visit, to do my birth plan and 36 wk check at 37.5 wks! so the on call mw came out instead, and she was actually nice and lovely, so that was good. Lathough she has said that bubs is definatley back to back, as was DS, when i suggested that maybe the mw led unit wasnt for me then, she asured me that i would be fine with it being a second preg.

Having a mad panic at the mo to get a tens machine, last time i hired one for not very much from the local small hospital, but since moving districts they dont do that here and i just assumed they did, so now having to get one from mothercare at a late date!! and its gonna coast £30!! Thats a feeding bra out of the question! Oh well have to squeeze into an old one!

Still got loads of stuff to do around here but am really hoping that bubs makes an appearance soon. Got a pineapple in my veg box last week, what an omen that is, although its not done anything except give me heartburn, but thats not hard! So its rl, sex and curries (followed by gaviscon!) for me. Oh yeah and lots of crawling to get bubs the right way around!
