Hi all hope that everyone is enjoying the gorgeous sunshine!!

Well for a change im actually hoping that the baba stays in until 12.01am tonight as i would be the first person in my hole family (including DH's) to have a baby born in June so please send me stay in vibes until midnight!!!

Ampster If you read back over the post i wrote last Monday you will see that im not lying when i say that my sweeps haven't hurt at all !!!!!!!!! i honestly promise and i was expecting a lot of discomfort!! xx

Mayx3 Congratulations on the birth of Samuel im glad things are improving after a bit of a worrying start xxx

gingerwench · 31/05/2008 11:49

I'm still here and waiting.

Thai curry tonight hope that will get things moving. A few more period-type twinges and a couple of "ooh could this be a contraction" type feelings but several hours apart.
Nothing else
No show
No waters breaking

I'm only a couple of days overdue though...guess it will be a June baby

Mayx3 congratulations on the birth of Samuel (fab name and high up on my list too!) sounds like it was a bit traumatic for you, I'm glad you are both home and OK now.

Gingerwench I'm also having Thai curry tonight - eviction vibes being sent your way with the curry!

Very fed up today I think I had unrealistic expectations of what the sweep might do, so from having periody pains last night to nothing I'm really rather depressed!

It's also our anniversary so lots of calls, texts and cards all thick with baby references, which I know are nice but felt like bursting into tears this morning.

BABIES - GET OUT OF ALL MAY MUMMIES NOW (apart from Pregnabrain who should wait until tomorrow!)

Hope some of you are having better progress than me!

Fleurie76 · 31/05/2008 13:39

Sorry sweetbean it's your baby that needs to wait until tomorrow oops!

pregnabrain · 31/05/2008 16:18

Hello all

Hope you're all enjoying your Saturday (sweetbean - are you in a different country? It's been horrible and grey all day here)

Am feeling much less coldy today and ready for the big event, if bubs decides to come out. My midwife is on call from midnight so any time after that would be fine!

Sorry you're feeling frustrated, Fleurie. At least they have given you a sweep. My midwives have said OK to one NEXT Friday. They're obviously in no rush!! Can't believe I could be waiting for this baby for another two and half weeks. Argh.

pina - the cramp has stopped again now, thankfully. bubs doesn't feel quite so low down today so i suppose that's why.

anyway, i'll stop blathering on now! I wonder if we'll get any May 31st birth announcements...

babylove21 · 31/05/2008 17:00

Im Back !! And with a gorgeous Baby girl named Faye. Born 25th April ( induced at 37 weeks). EDD was May 13th.
She weighed 5lb 4oz.
Poor little soul had facial congestion for days, i think they said it was because of her rapid delivery.
Her birth was nothing like i had expected and totally different to my first 2 children.
If anyone is interested i can share my experience ?

I spent the week prior to her birth in hospital and since then my pc has been broken so i have not been able to let you all know.
It seems i have missed sharing everyones good news, but i will sift through as much as i can to catch up when i have more time.

@sweetbean, bigbadmama, fleurie76 and novicemama - i'm relieved to know that sweeps don't hurt. not that my midwife has suggested one yet but i'm due to see her on monday and maybe she will. but then i requested no induction-type interventions if at all possible, so maybe she'll hold off. course, i'm now so bored waiting for the baby to arrive that part of my brain is like 'really? you quite sure you don't want a little help getting it out?'. but i guess i should stick to my guns for a little while...

sweetbean · 01/06/2008 09:28

Pina Thaks babe xxx

Ampster At lest a sweep is a natural for of induction i.e its your own body producing the hormones to get you started of unlike what im facing which is total chemical induction!!

Well i made it through the night so it looks like i will be having a JUNE baby i just really want it to come out now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxxx

Fleurie76 · 01/06/2008 10:53

babylove21 congratulations on the birth of Faye, glad you are both well!

ampster I would go for a sweep if you are offered on one Monday, it's not really counted as induction - that only happens when the hospital intervene with breaking of waters, gel pesseries and a drip.
You're still considered as having gone into labour 'naturally' after a sweep and will be able to have low level monitoring / allowed to use a birth pool etc if you have had a sweep but not if they take you in and start you off in any other way. I would definately consider a sweep as a way of avoiding induction and all the medical monitoring that comes with it. Go for it!

Yey sweetbean a June baby for you!! I'm not going to leave the May thread either.

Well another day closer to meeting baby [being positive emoticon] and we've decided to actively provoke sod's law by going somewhere nice and public today for my waters to break in. Then if that doesn't work, washing every item of clothing of DH's so that I'll go into labour with all his clothes wet and he'll have to assist me in his pants. And if that doesn't work we are going to siphon all the petrol out of the car and bury it in the garden

elportodelgato · 01/06/2008 11:15

ampster - I would definitely agreee with Fleurie and also recommend a sweep - it had the effect of bringing on my "show" which at least gave me the illusion that something is happening! Since then, I had some contractions on Friday night (but not at all regular) then nothing at all since! I am so frustrated! Went for a waddle round the local park yesterday, got some rest in the afternoon - even tried sex AGAIN this morning (last thing I fancied tbh) but nothing is happening apart from vague niggling pains. Going for a second sweep tomorrow morning. Glad I am not the only one sitting here getting impatient!

mumofk · 01/06/2008 12:28

Otter- big hugs and congratulations, sorry not been following this thread very well and missed your post . Really hope everything is going ok now and that Hazel will be home with you soon. Please keep us updated (either here or postnatal)- at least she's having the best possible care in Leeds.
hugs

Jeez, finally getting around to posting about the birth now that we're into June! Molly Patricia was born at 2:30 in the morning on May 17, 7lbs 10oz. She was my first child, and I am so happy that we were able to have the home birth that we had planned for. Everything went beautifully.

Things were slow starting off and I had 3 days of intermittent contractions -ugh. But labor started in earnest Fri evening, and thanks to the birth pool (best thing ever invented IMHO), two gorgeous midwives, a lovely doula and a wonderful partner, my labour was pretty much as good as it could have been. I was so much more relaxed being in my own living room than in the hospital. And Molly is gorgeous - though we are knackered now.

Here's the updated list.

Hello all

Many congratulations to Babylove21 and Yankunian on your lovely babies. Good to know that all went well and that you're settling into the newborn stage comfortably. Yankunian - did you actually give birth in the pool or use it for pain relief only?

Well, it's turned into a bit of a weird weekend for me. I had Obstetric Cholestasis with my last pregnancy and thought that I had, by some sort of miracle, escaped it this time. Horrible itching started yesterday afternoon, though, and continued through the night (got about 3 hours sleep). I called midwives this morning and they came and took blood, also found my blood pressure up and protein in my wee. Generally quite worrying. Got totally stressed out and teary and had to wait all day for the test results. Itching has continued and is just as horrible as last preg. BUT the results have come back as totally normal. It's the strangest thing. Have got to go into hospital tomorrow to discuss it all and try to work out what on earth is going on with my stupid body.

Meanwhile, lovely midwife agreed to give me a sweep (expecting a positive OC blood test result!) to try to get things going before they haul me in for induction. Nothing was happening, but now I'm gettting strong regular BH...so who knows what on earth will happen now? Could have baby tonight, or be induced tomorrow, or just left in limbo again....argh! Meanwhile, itching is driving me nuts.

Anyway, sorry for offloading all that but it makes me feel a bit better just to put it down in writing.

ps sweep was no more uncomfortable than a smear test, for whoever was worrying. Def less painful than the vaginal exams during labour were for me last time.

Am also determined to stick with the May gang even though this baby is now definitely a June-y.

Yankunian's Congratulations on the birth of Molly xxxx

Well im at an all time low and just feel read to give up on the hope of this baby ever coming out !!

Sad,Depressed and Frustrated !!!!!!!!

sweetbean · 02/06/2008 14:56

Just had sweep no3 Lets hope something happens as i really DON'T want to be induced !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

elportodelgato · 02/06/2008 15:26

sweetbean I am also feeling very low and tear-y about the whole thing. I had sweep no. 2 this morning which was VERY painful - I am now 2cm dilated and I really hope something happens tonight! In the meantime I am feeling bored and demoralised. The worst of it is that I feel completely mentally unprepared for labour - just feel very useless and sad

ampster · 02/06/2008 15:41

good luck novicemama and sweetbean. saw my midwife today, head fully engaged now. If nothing's happened by the time I am 41+3 then I will have to go into hospital for some kind of monitoring / ultrasound etc. Maybe that's when they'll offer me a sweep, if they do them here (Sweden). How overdue are you both?
