Wow Kanga - respect! He really was truly cooked and waiting to arrive. Congratulations and glad you managed to beat the induction.

BBM - glad you're getting some contractions, can't be too far away noew
Would love to take your offer up of sharing some as I am still chasing DH round the bedroom as the midwife was so adament that it will work. I jumped on the poor fella this morning (and it must be at least 10 years since I demanded sex before work) and he said 'Oh God are you milking me again woman!' (sorry TMI )

So another day on maternity leave - ho hum - off to do a jigsaw that I was leaving until I had run out of cupboards to clean and that moment has finally arrived...

sweetbean · 27/05/2008 12:24

Hi Fleurie i know what you mean my DH said to yesterday (as i tried to jump on him for the second time) "im sorry darling but i feel ive done my bit for toady !!!!" love him hes finding quite hard to find me sexy now im so fat and lumptious

Well i have just got back from another mile long walk and still nothing !! im starting to get depressed now !!!!

sweetbean · 27/05/2008 12:29

Oooh Pregnabrain Ive just noticed its

HAPPY DUE DATE TO YOU !!!!! xxx

pregnabrain · 27/05/2008 13:54

hello all!

Yes, it's happy due date to me. Baby clearly gets its punctuality from me, though, as there is NO sign of any action.

Hoping that bbm's contractions developed over night. Maybe her absence today is a good sign. Was anyone following her thread in the childbirth section?

pina - would def be good to hear from babylove, as well as mumbles, mayx3 and otter. all must have popped by now.

sweetbean - sorry to hear you didn't get any immediate effects from the sweep. sounds like you (and dh) are doing everything you can, though . I'm sure it won't be long...

fleurie - enjoy the jigsaw!

Niknak21 · 27/05/2008 21:23

birth announcement

Alistair James arrived very quickly (3 hrs from 1st feeling something painful) on Thursday 22nd 9lb 2oz. He didn't even wait for the midwife to arrive, she was on her way to check me out and got there 10 mins later.

Was planning to go into hospital... Good job my husband works from home. Although he was only there for the last 15 mins and that was because I shouted to him from the top of the stairs I needed him RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately he was in the middle of treating a patient and had to go back and finish the root canal treatment once the midwife turned up. All a bit dramatic, but all was good in the end, without the trip to hospital.

I'm now pleased we hadn't got round to getting a solid wooden door to his surgery to soundproof the house. Although the carpenter was lined up to come today... So if the baby had been any later it would've been a completely solo birth.

Not had time to read through posts, but congrats to all that have popped and hope those who want to will do v v soon

NicNak21 Congratulations on the safe arrival of Alistair xx

Well WOOHOO ive had a show!!!!!! (realy quite big TMI)

Now i know that i could still take weeks for the baba to arrive but at lest its a step in the right direction!!!!I'm just keeping everything crossed and really hoping that thinks start to kick of today as im ready to have this baby now!!!

Pregnabrain Don't worry Hun im sure that you will have your baby before me!! My dd was 10 days late so im not holding my breath!!!

pregnabrain · 28/05/2008 09:52

Morning.

Congratulations NikNak - what an incredible birth story! Did the midwife do the cord / placenta bit then or was that DIY too ?

Sweetbean - great news about the show. Mine's still a total no-show at the moment.

This thread's gone terribly quiet now. Feeling lonely .

sweetbean · 28/05/2008 10:48

I know what you mean pregnabrain i used to not be able to keep up with it and now we have loooooooong silences i really miss everyone !!!

Fleurie76 · 28/05/2008 11:47

Hello ladies,
Don't worry pregnabain, I'm a no show too! Have a feeling I will be on here for at least another week as if the worst happens I'll get induced next Thursday
Really don't know what else to do to get this baby going, have stopped pestering DH as sex clearly hasn't worked.

Sweetbean v-excited for you and your show, at least you know you are headed in the right direction! I'm sure it won't be too long now.

Congrats NikNak on the speedy arrival of Alistair, it always amazes me how differently every birth goes!

Well, off to bake scones for a couple of my ante natal friends who are popping over and are still yet to go (although they are both behind me and one booked in for c-sec on friday ) feel like I am in some phantom pregnancy and will never actually give birth!

Roll on 2 weeks time ladies when we WILL have our babies here

pregnabrain · 28/05/2008 11:57

Just spoke to my lovely midwife and she's on call tonight, and then not again until Sunday. Yikes. Hope bubs will co-operate and appear when she's on...

I practically burst into tears when she said "I'd been expecting you to call by now..."

Grrrrr. I hate this waiting.

Mitchell81 · 28/05/2008 12:08

Sorry you are still waiting, it can't be too much longer. Both threads are very quiet now. DH went back to work today and I managed to get all 3 DC dressed, feed including myself ready by 9am for DD to go to school. I am very impressed with myself thought I would really struggle and I only had to wake up at 7:30am. Maybe beginners luck as DS2 slept for most of the time.

DS2 was 2 weeks on monday and I am getting at least 3 or 4 hours between feeds, so I am finding life with new baby very manageable. Now needing to get DS1 and DS2 down for a nap so I can have a sleep aswell if I can get the timing right.

HV came on monday and said that my cut was inflamed(C-section) so took a swab and I am waiting till tomorrow to see if I have an infection. But I feel fine, so who knows. Gonna make an appointment to see doctor to check if I am ok to drive-fingers crossed.

Hope we hear some more announcements soon.

podglet · 28/05/2008 13:18

Hi all, just checking in to see how you are doing...

Niknak - wow, what an amazing story! Welcome to Alistair.

Lots of eviction notices issued!

sweetbean · 28/05/2008 15:08

HI all

Just back from the MW and have had another sweep (no2) and so have everything crossed that it will make something happen!!!

Still only 1cm dilated and posterior a bit but haho maybe there will be a baby soon.

I have been booked in for an Induction on Thursday 5th June so at lest i have a definite date in my head now and i know that it can't go on forever!!!

Fleurie76 Is that the same day as you ??

Fleurie76 · 28/05/2008 17:14

Hi ladies,

Mitchell81 very impressed at your organisational skills with 3 DC's! What's your secret?

Sweetbean Yep - I'll be taken in on Thursday 5th of June so at least we know by that weekend we'll have our babies.
Got to have a sweep on Friday so fingers crossed that it will do something. Would so love to beat an induction if I can.

Pregnabrain fingers crossed that your baby and midwife coincide at the same time!!

sallyforth · 28/05/2008 18:38

Re: breastfeeding

Hello! Am just dropping in to say that I've written an article on "Ten Things I'd Tell Myself" if I could go back in time to when I was a new mum struggling with breastfeeding.

It's here if any of you want to take a look.

Hope you do not mind me posting on your thread but maybe it might help someone.

Best wishes, Sally (from Feb '08 thread)

Niknak21 · 28/05/2008 18:48

pregnabrain Yes thankfully the midwife sorted the placenta and cord whilst my DH sorted his patient. Thinking about it now, that's the bit the partner normally does, I don't think he was too concerned to miss that this time. I hope your wait is not much longer, DS1 was induced as soon as they would agree, 12 days over the waiting does get tedious.... only 6 days over this time. Although I likes telling people I was due days before.

I too am v impressed with Mitchell81 it must like a military operation with 3.
