AussieSim - totally at the healthcare system in Oz. Why is it so hit and miss over here???? Makes me so angry as this is such a wealthy country. There's no need for our maternity services to be run on such a shoe-string.

Newbishad - good luck for tomorrow. Emily's our current fave for a girl too...

Nappyaddict - have posted on mumbles' other thread but there's been no sign of her. Keeping everything crossed that she / baby are ok.

Psyched myself up to attempt a bit of hot lurve action with dh last night...got to bed to find him flat out and snoring like a champion. I have to admit I was relieved .

Whoever asked if anyone else feels like their baby will never come out...I DO. Saw midwife on Friday and she said that they'll happily let me go three weeks over (with regular checks etc). I JUST CAN'T STAND IT.

Evening ladies. My due date is tomorrow. But my waters have just broken. So let's hope baby follows soon. No contractions as yet. More in due course...

Hope all you ladies in waiting (IYSWIM) are OK. Life with a newborn is tough, so my advice is, as much as you want them out, try and enjoy your last few days (or 3 weeks ) of 'freedom'.

Not that I can talk cos I was a right grouchy cow when I wasn't even at my due date .

Norks - That is very timely of you. My waters broke first with DD1 and the contractions started a few hours later - not sure why I mention this...you're a seasoned pro now anyway. Good luck!

aussiesim - congratulations on the birth of Heidi. I did wonder if I had enough time to pop over to Australia in time for our birth (if only for the candlelit dinner).

Fleurie76 - I was wondering how much your DH had paid your midwife to give those instructions but then when I read on...maybe not. Should have faked the labour pains!

Sweetbean - nearly! I have a very beautiful Emily DD. OK, I'm biased but I have photos on my profile if you want to check . I chose her name when I was about 4 and nothing else would do when I saw her. It suits her really well and despite it being a popular name right now, we haven't come across that many (seems most people went for derivations of the name and those are the popular ones!). Poor teacher when DD starts school, intake for the year is 10, 7 are girls and they all have names beginning with E .

Getting concerned about MumblesMummy hope she and her little one are OK - she must have had him by now you'd think.

No contractions and he's just started moving so lets rein in the excitement. I've not had one behave like this before...!

Norks They took me in for intravenous antibiotics 24 hours after my waters had broke with DD1 although from what I have read on here protocol seems to change depending on where you live . Both DDs wriggled throughout my labours but then, with them being back to back, that must have been a good thing as they came out the right way up!

Perhaps he's wriggling into position and that's what causing delay? had another gush of water and thought I'd have a nap but then had another big gush so have given up snoozing for the time being.

Oh I should think it is going to start up soonish then with all that gushing . Maybe he is wriggling into position ....or doing a quick front crawl in the opposite direction! do you think he is in the right position? Mine is LOL this evening and DD2 has bad croup so hoping tonihgt is NOT the night for me....you go ahead though

hope things aren't uncomfortable for you duchess. it'll probably kick off in the night when your body's all relaxed and cosy in bed...best wishes and hope all goes well.

I was all ready and raring to go at 7pm. Now I'm really tired and would actually much rather go to bed, have a good few hours sleep and have him arrive in the morning. Except everytime I lie down there is a flood!

how long will it keep coming out in big quantities? i can't remember from when they broke my waters in hospital...apart from initial big gush. it must stop soon, surely?

i suppose maybe his head is plugging it in when you're upright and he gets dislodged when you lie down...

Get a load of towels next to the bed, put one on the bed now and get some sleep, change towels as neccesary, Sleep is far more important than keeping bed dry right now(although my DH would disagree!).

well done to all the may mums. its lovely to think of all the beautiful babies and happy family additions popping out everywhere!
been very much out of the loop as internet broke down as soon as i went on maternity leave!
Luca was born on 16th may @41 weeks. I had a 60 hour labour - it went from being amazing and creative, to drugged and cut! but we pushed him out eventually!
Luca was born with a condition which meant his bladder was on the outside of his body. This was shocking and devastating and he had to have surgery at 6 days old and hasn't come home yet and still won't be home for about 3 weeks. not quite what we'd planned! at first his empty cot was very depressing but he is in great hands at great ormond st. he is a beautiful tough healthy baby and we are loving every moment of becoming new parents (well almost every moment!) he has already nearly pooed in daddies face and shown us what strong legs he has during nappy changing!
i hope everyone enjoys their new additions and a million hugs to all the little babies. take care
