All quiet here. I get the odd BH but nothing continual. I have just bought a pineapple and will make fresh raspberry leaf tea! It's the last day of this half-term, now would be convenient!

We now have 9 chicks who are very noisy but very cute. Sound familiar?

Morning May ladies - hopefully we won't all be June ladies soon!

Congratulations indigoblue hope Jamie is well enough for you to take him home soon

Congratulations brambalina on the birth of Monica - lovely name!

BBM sorry to hear about childcare issues - could you pretend to have gone into labour to get your mum to travel the distance when you need her - sneaky but might be an option?!

duchess love the chicks, must be nice to have something baby-related to keep you occupied until LO turns up!

pregnabrain hope you are getting more than pre-labour now - can't be easy having false starts and looking after a toddler!

Well, I was EDD yesterday and saw the midwife who confirmed that the baby is nearly fully engaged - so at last some progress in the right direction. Also got DH into the induction way this morning and have been having a few tightenings in the couple of hours afterwards so maybe.....or maybe I'm wishful thinking.

Hope this bank holiday will bring a few more babies - have a good one all.

sweetbean · 24/05/2008 16:42

HAPPY DUE DATE TO ME !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well i have finally reached my due date HURRAH !!!!

Congratulations Brambalina on the safe arrival of Monica xxx

Just thought that i would pop in and say hi but is really quite again so must be the bank holiday and everyone is of doing something else i will try and check in tomorrow xxxx

pregnabrain · 24/05/2008 17:04

howdy to all the ladies left propping up the Due In May bar. Can't believe there are only seven days left to the end of the month - what a monumental month it's been .

Congratulations bramblina on the birth of Monica - will go and have a look at your birth announcement in a mo. Good to hear you're loving being a mummy.

Fleurie - having contractions with a toddler in tow is no fun at all. At one point, I was walking her back from nursery and she kept running off ahead of me and I just felt so spaced out I couldn't think properly about cars / roads etc. Collapsed in tears when we got home and phoned dh to come back from work early .

Hope you and dh have had some luck bringing on the labour. I really want to try it, but i just can't work out how with my shape / size etc. How sad...

Nothing at all happening on the labour front here, unless vicious mood swings count .

Sending birthy vibes to Kanga - due for induction today if the fifteenth sweep didn't kick things off sooner - GOOd LUCK.

Happy due date, Sweetbean. Have a piece of home cooked 'due date' carrot cake from me

Hi all and congratulations to new arrivals.

Well I'm still on rasberry leaf tea and hot curries. I guess all of us end of May girls are.

I am due for induction on Monday. I have been having periody type cramps and intermitant mild contractions and from examination at the hospital it seems as though I am in the early stages of labour (1 cm dilated) but I've stayed there for the last few days. Oh well. I hope to be a bit further on by Monday so that it's not a full induction.

Lots of love and good luck to those of us in waiting. More eviction notices needed!

NS XXXXXX

nappyaddict · 24/05/2008 19:52

really hope everything's ok with mumblesmummy. has anyone heard from her? even if she had the longest labour ever, resulting in a section, then had to stay in for 5 days she should have been back by today at the latest.

londonirish · 24/05/2008 19:57

Hello all!
First of all my apologies for not posting and keeping up with you all.

Birth Announcement
We had a baby girl 2 wks ago on the 11th May (7 days overdue).
She was 8lb1oz and her name is Aoife Grace. (Aoife is a celtic name pronounced "Eefa").
She is absolutely beautiful and we can't stop looking at her!
Unfortunately, she was delivered by emergency caesarean but she is now well, and 2 weeks on, that seems like a distant memory.

Good luck to all you expectant mums!
xx

BigBadMouse · 24/05/2008 20:44

Hello all!

Congratulations to all the mummies of new babies. LondonIrish - what a lovely name you have chosen .

newbishad - hope the 1cm increases before Monday but if not, good luck for induction. I'm sure you'll get on fine. I've got mine booked for Wednesday -was a bit worried tbh then thought that really I had Oxytocin with DD1 to progress the labour (got stuck at 2cm for days - but contractions were very painful regardless of doing nothing so they helped things along) and it was fine.

pregnabrain pmsl at the 'vicious mood swings' and 'positioning' quandry...ah the joys of pregnancy! .

Happy due date to Sweetbean .

Thanks for all the responses about my childcare whinge . I did think of faking a labour to get my stepmum down early but thought better of it. I'm very glad that I have since arranged to have someone look after the DDs for the first three hours if I go into labour in the daytime. Now all I have to do is go into labour during the DAY . I haven't had any BH and hardly any movements for two days and just now the old BH are firing up again - could be something to do with me dropping a £10 note in town an hour ago. It's really windy down here atm and it just blew straight out of my hand when I took it out of the cashpoint. Cue me crawling on all fours looking under many cars to find it - it took a while but I found it. Got some strange looks to say the least (place is full of tourists and young trendies who probably thought 'what is the hideously fat and clearly very unfit woman doing on the psvement) but I have some 'Northern Genes' in my blood and like hell was I going home without it . Spent most of today feeding a tiny baby bird I found in the garden. So small, no feathers, just a bot of fluff on it's head. I fed it every 20 mins sall day and after each feed it needed it's nappy changing - good practice I say! RSPCA man has taken it to someone who will do the nightshift though....

newbishad · 24/05/2008 21:11

Hi all,

Joining the lady's in waiting. Not noticably further on this evenning. Hope you are all well.

Congratultions to Londonirish. Great name Aoife. My baby is 1/2 Irish, 1/4 English with some Jewish blood thrown in. We have settled on Emily Mirium (if she turns out to be a girl as expected from scans. (Mirium because we know she was conceived on the eve of the Jewish New Year (IVF baby). Our boy's name was Aidan. We are not sure yet if we are returning to Ireland.

Lots of love NS

XXXX

BigBadMouse · 24/05/2008 21:14

newbishad EMILY is a wonderful name!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 24/05/2008 21:33

Congratulations londonirish.

Hello those waiting. Even I am getting impatient now, so heaven knows how the rest of you must be feeling! I have eaten an entire pineapple in the last 24 hours and am drinking fresh raspberry leaf tea - not as foul as I remembered actually. And I'm now wasting precious half-term holiday time, having a new baby whilst getting 2 DCs to school and 1 to pre-school is going to be baaaaad! Some time with everyone at home would be so nice. Still, officially I'm not due until Monday.

I may even get desperate enough to try sex.

AussieSim · 25/05/2008 05:57

Birth Announcement

Hi Guys

I just got home from hospital this morning (4 nights stay was heaven).

Heidi was born on 21 May at 17.21 Sydney time, after a very quick labour, with just the help of a little gas. She was 3.73kgs (8.2lbs), 50cms long and 35cm head circ. I got to the hospital at about 3.45pm 2cm dilated with moderate contractions every 5mins and was told to go for a walk to increase the strength and frequency at 4.30 while outside the hospital on the footpath my waters broke and then all hell broke loose and next thing I knew I was holding onto my daughter. I suffered just a little 1st degree tear which isn't causing too much discomfort. TBH my engorged breasts are much more painful.

See you all over on the post natal and sleep deprivation threads!

AussieSim · 25/05/2008 06:19

Have just read the thread a little more and to answer Pregnabrain's question about why I stay in hospital for 4 or 5 days, - the health system here in Oz is very very different to in the UK. The politicians have encouraged us with tax incentives into private health care, so it is a case of 'you pay you stay'.

The hospital I was in had a bit of a 5 star hotel feel and costs me nothing over and above insurance premiums we would have been paying regardless. The Private obstetrician is another matter of course and in my case I was so quick, that he only made it to the bit where he threw in the running stitch! While in hospital I went to sessions on post natal physio and settling baby and bathing demonstrations etc and on your last night they take the baby into the nursery and you have a 3 course meal with your DH by candlelight downstairs in the cafe and a glass of champers. It truly was the best post baby delivery experience I have had to date! The midwives are on hand 24/7 to help with baby and breastfeeding and recovery etc. I feel quite nurtured. Another reason to come to Oz?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/05/2008 09:46

Aussiesim congratulations to you too! That sounds like fantastic health care, I almost approve more of them sending you for a walk to strengthen contractions than supplying you with a candlelit dinner! My first 2 were born in a midwife-led birthing unit that had similar post-birth support. I can't begin to imagine how it must feel to be on a big, busy ward where nobody has time to help or talk - especially for first-time mothers. I don't think I'd ever held a newborn before I had my own so I needed all the help I could get!

Nothing happening here.

Fleurie76 · 25/05/2008 10:38

Morning ladies in waiting,

Congrats to LondonIrish and Aussiesim on your new arrivals

Aussiesim still reeling from your description of the care you had - sounds amazing!

BBM glad you got some cover for your DD's, fingers crossed you go into labour during the day...

Well no real signs at this end and the midwife's command to have sex twice a day, every day is unlikely to go fulfilled after DH got plastered last night when we had friends round and lay comatose on the sofa with music blaring at 3:30 this morning!

I so wish I had faked some serious labour pains when I came down to switch off the music and turn off the lights but didn't have the bloody energy. He is keeping a wide berth today which is fine by me but not a chance of home-made prosteglandin (spelling!) treatment today!!

Does anyone else feel they are never going to have this baby??!
