congrats Wolverina!!!!!!!!

Youcannotbeserious · 21/05/2008 20:43

Gingerwench - sorry to hear about your fall. It's upsetting, even when you know you haven't done any serious damage.

I managed to slip down the stairs a week before DS was born and, even though I only sliped two or three stairs, I managed to really hurt my foot and my confidence too...

Wolverina - Congratulations!!

I hope everyone else is well - and not too frustrated waiting for the babies.

KangaAndRoo · 21/05/2008 21:24

Awww gingerwench I didnt read your post sorry.... (((hugs))) dont feel stupid...accidents happen and your balance is at its worse this far in xxxx

Ok record holder for May babies? = 4th sweep tomorrow??!!!! mummy hotel must be great/cheap!!!!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 21/05/2008 21:48

Sounds like an ideal birth Wolverina, many congratulations.

gingerwench - hope you're feeling better now. These things happen. I fell over several times with DD1 (I seem to have improved my pregnancy-balance since then). Now I just drop things all the time.

The chicks are beginning to hatch so it looks like they'll be fully out of the shell and cheeping about before the baby arrives!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 21/05/2008 21:49

Forgot to add ... kanga 4th sweep. Once was enough for me (in both senses of the phrase).

pina followed your other thread and nearly forgot to come back here!

Only to say that our first chick is out. Stumbling about like mini-teradactyl. But in a cute way. Photo's tomorrow.

KangaAndRoo god that's good going 4 sweeps are you at lest dilating a bit between sweeps??

sweetbean · 22/05/2008 14:19

HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO is there anybody out there !!!!!! xxxx

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 22/05/2008 14:46

Hi sweetbean. Don't fret about your useless anusol, I'm using germoloids and it's not working this time either. I think we need to lose the bump-weight and the loosening-up-hormones before we see an improvement.

More excitingly, we now have 4 fluffy chicks and more on the way.

sweetbean · 22/05/2008 15:07

Lovely Lovely my grandparents used to keep chicken and it always makes me feel all warm and cosy to hear about then hatching AHHHH

How are you feeling other than the bot probs im OK but i don't feel like this baby is ready to arrive yet even though im due on Saturday!!
oh and i wanted to ask you as you are no No4 dose the head coming out part alwys make you feel like your about to die ???

gingerwench · 22/05/2008 15:50

THanks all. I'm feeling a lot more relaxed having heard a very healthy heartbeat from the baby this morning. i just need to get some mobility back in my arms before it arrives!

wow 4 sweeps. that's a lot

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 22/05/2008 16:34

sweetbean the head coming out bit always makes me feel like I'm nearly finished, which is a good thing. For me, it's similar to when I've had a really long run and then force myself to run the last 100 yards uphill - it hurts but in a good way! Seriously, even with my first, I pushed and pushed and nothing happened for ages and then suddenly the midwife is saying 'I can see the head' and you can put your hand down and feel your baby coming out (if you want to, I may just be weird )!

All those contractions and pushing will have opened everything up quite enough. Even with DC3, whose labour was less than an hour, I didn't go from having a vagina as tight as a drum to it suddenly being the size of a baby's head. Tis a gradual thing and as inconceivable as it may seem, they really do fit. Babies coming down the birth canal do not compare in anyway with the notion of trying to put something the same size up.

And moving on, other than the terrible, terrible piles, I feel fine. I had a big burst of energy earlier in the week but I've finished all my jobs and now feel calm and relaxed. The baby is moving less (but enough not to cause any worry). It's all so quiet, shh! shh!, it's all so still...

IndigoBlue · 22/05/2008 17:58

Hi all

Sorry haven't had time to catch up on posts yet but just to announce that 10 days late I had a baby boy on Sunday 18th. He weighed 8lb 9oz and we have called him Jamie.

Woke up having pains at 4am, wasn't sure if it was just painful braxton hicks but they carried on and got more painful so knew it was probably real thing. Went to hospital at 7am where the midwife was looking at me like I wasn't in established labour because I was pretty much acting normal. She was about to do a handover but I convinced her to examine me and was 5cm. Was kept on antenatal ward as delivery suite was full but then a room came free luckily so I then carried on with gas and air and had pethidine. My waters broke at 11.15 and he arrived at 11.50am so labour was total of 8 hours. He needed oxygen and bit of resuscitation initially as cord was tight round his neck and he swallowed a load of my blood etc on the way out but was fine after couple of mins.

The next day he was showing signs of jaundice and turns out he has an infection which they are not sure what it is but are treating it as possible meningitis so he's been in special care unit. I came home today but he's got to stay in for another 10 days of intravenous antibiotics til he can come home. he seems quite well in himself though and is feeding well which is good sign but is very hard not bringing him home.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, will catch up soon.

Youcannotbeserious · 22/05/2008 18:02

Indigo,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

I hope you are managing to relax. Wishing Jamie a very speedy recovery and I hope he's home with you very soon indeed.

YCBS x

BigBadMouse · 22/05/2008 20:46

indigo - Really hope you are able to bring Jamie home with you soon. Sounds like you have had a bit of a traumatic time - hope you are OK and getting lots of help and support.

norks cuddles (soft ones) to your chicks Daaahhhhhhhh .

sweetbean 'Ouch!' I still think germaloids is better than anusol as it has the local aneasthetic in it. It took 3 days of constant use () to get mine to go but they did go. I'm still using it on and off just to make sure - don't fancy having those and having to push at the same time! I think, like Norks said, the unusual downward pressure isn't helping.

Not having a good day today. Had our scan which was OK. It looks like the cord is round his neck twice now so I will be induced on Wednesday if nothing happens between then and now. I had a BH during my scan which impressed the consultant no end - he asked if I was sure I wasn't in labour! No such luck though . He said we must get to the hospital ASAP once I am in labour as he cannot see how the cord situation is affecting the baby (plus a few other things) so I came home and asked my stepmum to come down now (as things seem imminent-ish and trravelling to Cornwall on a BH weekend is rarely straightforward). She doesn't want to and will only come once I am in proper labour. This means taking DDs to the labour ward with me until she gets there to pick them up (she's 3 hours away). DD1 is a senstive little soul and I am dreading her seeing me in pain (I usually get very strong contractions very close together - typical of an OP labour). So , DH didn't cope too well last time being left with the DDs and not being able to help me with the birth. I just can't understand why I seem to not be very good at enlisting support. My Mum says she can't come down because she has her cats to look after . Sadder still my MIL would have been down here like a shot if she thought we needed her but she died just before DD2 was born. I could really do with some extra help - just someone to help me keep an eye on the girls. I'm soooo tired all the time and keep getting really bad headaches plus DDs are being very naughty ARRGHHHHHH. Sorry rant over - again

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 22/05/2008 21:23

indigo - very best wishes to you and Jamie, hope he's better soon and you can enjoy bringing him home. Excellent sign that he's feeding well though.

bbm - is there not a neighbour or another pre-school mum that you could phone when you go into hospital? People usually love to help because it's so exciting and gossipy! Our mothers & MILs sound very similar btw, MIL is currently having treatment for breast cancer so she won't be coming down. And I won't start on about my own mother [rolls eyes emoticon].

(and there are a couple of photo's of the new baby chicks still in the incubator on my profile).

norks neighbours are all rather ...errrrr old (I am the one of only two women of child-bearing age in our hamlet cannot ask the other 'young' one for reasons I shall not /cannot divulge. I have two lovely mum friends who have offered to take the girls during the day for a few hours but one has a brand new baby of her own plus a very jealous DS1 toddler and a tiny house - the other will have a heartattack if she sees DD2's current behaviour (she is a lovely person, fantastic mum, but panics at the slightest thing and DD2 has taken to violence in a big way ). Both can only help during the weekend daytimes I just wish that the person who really could help so easily would. DD2 is so clingy atm and it would be nice to know they are both happy for the short while I am needed elsewhere.
Chicks very cute. I have seen a perfectly happy, helthy, wild bunny-rabbit running around our garden in the mornings for the past few days. I'm thinking if s/he can survive free range maybe my chooks will have a chance too. The farm down the next lane has F/R and they seem to survive the country lanes and foxes quite well. DH is building his own racing car right now and so I am having problems luring him away from that to chook-proof my veggie garden

BigBadMouse · 22/05/2008 21:50

ooooppps - never had that happen to me before!

pregnabrain · 23/05/2008 07:22

hello all

Hope you're all well today.

Had another strong attack of 'pre-labour' yesterday. Regular, quite uncomfortable contractions from 3pm to 10. And feeling totally zoned out / trippy (trying to look after dd was NOT fun). And then, of course, it all died down. Got a really good night's sleep, thankfully!

No signs of anything today. Will go for a walk in the park and see what happens. Walking around definitely seems to set it off.

Many congratulations to IndigoBlue but sorry to hear Jamie's poorly. It sounds like he's being well looked after. Thank goodness they spotted the infection. Must be incredibly worrying for you, though. Dd was on IV antibiotics for the first five days and I remember how anxious it made me. Best wishes to you all.

duchess - the chicks are just too gorgeous!! I am really loving being heavily pregnant at this time of year when all of nature's busy doing the same thing. It feels so right to be introducing a new baby into the world now. I enjoyed your words about the crowning bit of labour. I'm feeling wobbly about that part myself, as I had an epidural last time so didn't feel it happening.

bbm - sorry to hear about your childcare worries. Wouldn't one of the elderly neighbours help you out as a last resort? Just for an hour or so until your stepmum can get to you? Or can you give dh a stern talking-to and a list of responsibilities that become his the minute you feel like you can't deal with the kids any more? If you give him a defined list of things to do you might feel more confident in him. hth.

gingerwench - glad to hear you and bubs are both fine after your fall. it's horrible to feel so physically vulnerable, isn't it? i get really edgy whenever i'm in a crowded place or even if i have to walk down a set of stairs because i'm convinced i'm going to fall over.

anyway, hope you all have a good day today - will check in a bit later...
