mm - I think it's perfectly natural to be worrying about baby's exit at this point - i definitely think about it at least once an hour! sorry to hear your sister's baby is so poorly - I hope it all works out for the best and that she's getting good care.

pina - sorry to hear you've got an infection. i hope you don't have to be admitted for it. is it to do with your scar?

monkeysmama - trying to do sweep before due date seems weird to me too. you're perfectly entitled to ask them why they think it's a good idea, and wait if you aren't happy.

mumofk - there's something so depressing about buying the actual tena lady brand, I will do anything to find an alternative! will head off to sainsbury's for my glamour pads from now on.

Had a lovely 'birth talk' with my midwife today. Feel really well supported by her, which is so different from how things were last time. Had a bit of a breech scare as she was examining me but, in the end, turns out that bubba's head is so low that she almost couldn't feel it and that's why she thought it could be breech. She thinks I could be early .

In hospital under surveillance, many hours from home! Either induced in morning or sent home, fingers crossed! DP hopefully sleeping in interview room cos no b&bs to be found! hope everyone is well

After my tightenings on Tuesday, I wen into hospital at 9:30pm just to get checked out (coz of BP). I was monitored for an hur, during which time, all contractions stopped and they said I wasn't in labour. Came home at 11pm.

At 1am cntractions started again with a vengeance, though I stayed at home until 9am when my mum came to look after DD. At hospital they said i was 8cm, and 3 hours later William Harris was born.

Vital stats: Wed 7th may, 12:52pm, a diddly 5lb 8oz but very long 53cm

I'm very chuffed to have no tears or stitches! we stayed in hospital until this afternoon as they wanted to check he was feeding ok, but he's doing realy well, and despite being knackered i feel pretty good.

Will put up pictures when i have two hands!.

Azaduhi - can empathise completely with the 'oh you can't possibly be due soon' comments.... I've had loads (including a few 'you're not pregnant!' - not the sort of thing you just make up is it?????????????

I am a bit luckier, because I'm scheduled for a C section, so most people know the plan!!

Baiyu - Hope you are OK, Hun and keeping your spirits up!

Gingerwench - Congrats on giving up work! It's bliss, it's it? I have one more week, but I'm able to work from home so no more commuting (and not much work!! ) for me either!

pina thanks for the sympathy. Don't think it was Bump-man, TBH, more the fact that it was obvious I wasn't going to be up for 4 week periods of long haul travel.... I suppose it's obvious why most people who do PhDs are young 20s with few (if any!) commitments... Just wish he could've thought of that when he read my CV!!!!! (it DOES say that I'm married with 2 DSDs, 1 dog and 1 bump!!)

DH is being super-lovely this weekend, - we even did it last night (most enjoyable, except I'm now getting paranoid that it might bring on the arrival of Bump man!) And my lovely Chocolate dog has gone to his grandparents for a few weeks so I am no longer having to walk him (I miss him LOADS but if I'm honest, I'm not missing being out walking at this time of the morning!!!)

Monkeysmamma - dont know why they would sweep before due date either, surley being back to back is a reason, DS was back to back and they just left him and Bubba bump is back to back aswell and i have just been told too crawl etc..

Cant think of anyone else i wanted to write to, sorry im sure there were some!

Well things here are moving along, had a small show on Thursday night, got very excited at 2am in morning, really hard to not wake up DH and show him, but thought he wouldnt be pleased!! and i know that its nothing to get too excited about as still can be ages! Bubba bump had been being quite chilled over the beginning of the wekk and has now gone back to mad jumping bean again! Also having loads more bh than before too. So i have planned loads of stuff over the next few days to try and tempt fate!!

DS is being a nightmare at the mo though, which is upsetting. He is soooo whiny and started haveing FULL ON tantrums. I really wanted our last few days of just being us 3 to be lovely, but its just turning into battles every day and then guilty feeling mum at the end of the day! I think his last few molars are coming through (typical I knew he would save them for now!) and i suspect he also feels he is not my centre of attention already as i am soooo knackered! However he is being really sweet at the mo, mewoing at a cat on the tv!

Anyway i better get off this computer, get on my ball and play with DS.

Congratulations Blobsmummy. I am a bit that you stayed home till 8cm.

My mum will be getting the call in the middle of the night that she better get in her car right away - she has a 1.5hr drive to get here, and in the meantime I will call on one of the neighbours to come over while I head to the hospital. I was so quick with DS2 that they said I shouldn't hang around to even wait for DH to make it home from work, if that is where he is.

I am 38weeks and huge - being a shorty there is no place for it to go but all out front, and now everyone is telling me how low the bump is looking. I saw my obstetrician last Monday and he said it could be any time now. I have never made it to 40weeks before so am anticipating things kicking off in the next week or so.

In fact today I had some acupuncture, bought the ingredients to make a vindaloo and a big container of pineapple juice and so now DH thinks the recent drought is over .

mumofk thanks for tip on pads from sains. I am not really bleeding enough to warrant putting a surfboard in my pants for much longer .
Also, yes lansinoh is fabulous!! It's like really thick vaseline and really sort of coats the nipple (so protects it) and you can leave it on while baby feeds. I would definitely recommend it. My nips have been OK, but I use it daily prophylactically (sp?!)

YCBS PhD???? God woman, are you mad??? I'm sorry you got turned down, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

Can't believe how many of you are getting hassling texts from friends. How annoying. Poor Denny emailed me this am. Her DD2 is 5 weeks old now, and she got asked in a shop yesterday when her baby was due.......people are so f**king rude!!!!

I am suffering a bit with inflamed pelvis having given birth to Cerys so quickly, sacrum and pubic symphasis all swollen and also got a bladder infection...oh joy! Oh well, Cerys is still being an angel so can't complain.

Having our first BBQ of the summer today, yippppeeee!

Sending lots of 'get out...now!' vibes to all due babies.....

No signs yet, just had a sweep this morning - cervix still long. I'm soooo fed up and uncomfortable. Got another sweep on Monday - hope it works.

Arley Stephen arrived yesterday evening at home, 7:19 pm. 7lb 2oz.

Absolutely thrilled that we got our homebirth and that the boy is finally here

we fitted the new carseat today and I'm planning to write my birthplan this weekend. On Tuesday some of my NCT class are round along with the bra-fitting lady and once I've got my nursing bras I think the hospital bag will be sorted. It is all coming together!

pina and gcg - hope your infections clear up soon. i think our body's normal defence mechanisms are always a bit low after the marathon of labour. I got a couple of infections in the weeks after dd's birth. Just what you need

fingers crossed for baiyu - hope all turns out ok and they let you come home.

I have an excruciating pile (note the singular) and am depleting my stocks of post-birth Germoloids. At least I'm not constipated with it because that's an absolute killer!

Otherwise, it's all quiet and uneventful here (unless you count the cows that broke into our garden this morning)!

Magicfairy thanks for your post. I am going to call mw tomorrow. She said they try & do it to reduce the chances of being induced but I am confused nonetheless. Already I am a bit sad at having to make baby uncomfortable all the time so s/he moves-I don't want fingers in unnecessary places without good reason!

My best mate just arrived from Italy so I'm being spoilt rotten-she is downstairs making lasagna and pasta to freeze.
