Not sure if anyone else has started a new thread as our other one ran out of room, but here we go...

pregnabrain Well OK, flight socks aren't really 'a look' - but I had to do the school run AND pre-school run in my hideous mules. Twice. And I was wearing jersey maternity shorts. The shame.

goodcatholicgirl · 08/05/2008 20:10

HI all,

Had a lovely day today,

Oh blimey...got to go, DD2 needs feeding!!! More later...

hi everyone,
trying to make a quick catch up.

congratulations yellowflower on the arrival of joseph.

asicsgirl, kanga and mumblesmummy- good luck to you three, hope you will be meeting your babies very soon.

i have see all the baby pictures on the profiles and feel like and at the same time they are all so gorgegous aren't they.

not much of a change here apart from lots of strong braxton hicks and bad tightening of my bump. have 8 days till due date and just hope for it to kick off earlier. took dd to the park and sat on the swing for a long time watching her, felt a bit like labour exercise
anyway when i got off the swing i thought my waters broken as my trousers felt wet, me then looking at my friend and she says oh you probably just sweating but as i kept getting light- pre- contractions and tightenings i quickly rushed home to check and it was a false alarm, so i was just sweating. ( no wonder sitting in this heat in thick long maternity trousers.

would like to get some eviction vibes my way please. EDD 16th is still sooo far away.

baiyu · 08/05/2008 20:59

Ooh mumbles and asicsgirl, how exciting! Who's going to have a baby first? Mumbles did they change your due date or did you just manage to get a sweep early? My midwife has said she won't even give me a sweep til the 19th (scary far-away induction date they've given me) Very jealous! Any way I can persuade them I wonder?!

pina thanks for the reassurance, I'm sure you're right. Far too easy to get worried and stressed out at this stage I think!

asicsgirl cappuccino cupcakes can definitely join the bar, they're pretty yummy!

baiyu · 08/05/2008 21:01

Ooh and kanga, hope things are happening for you too!

Coolmama · 09/05/2008 06:21

Ooh congratulations to the lovely new mummies - how fabulous
Am now 40+5 and just want to have my baby!! - Absolutely nothing is happening - induction booked for nest Wed! (feels like next year at this point)

Had acupuncture yesterday and am going again today so fingers crossed something happens this weekend. The only upside is that I am able to be out and about enjoying the weather !! Makes me miss home so much!

YellowFlower · 09/05/2008 07:40

Thanks for all the congratulations and good luck to those who are being swept / induced.

Fingers crossed Joe is getting over his moses basket aversion as he?s been in it for ¾ hour now ? although it?s so warm at the moment it may just be the heat knocking him out! Thanks for the bean bag and hammock advice, much appreciated and I?ll check them out.

xx

ps ? this is an eviction notice to all the remaining babies!

pregnabrain · 09/05/2008 08:18

Happy labour vibes to mumblesmummy, kanga and asicsgirl. Looking forward to some announcements soon.

Have a good day everyone.

ps duchess - you win. flat mules and jersey shorts will never grace the pages of Grazia

Mitchell81 · 09/05/2008 09:24

To everyone waiting and for those that things might be happening. Good luck, I hope we hear some more birth announcements soon.

I am spending today and this weekend tidying and cleaning the house, getting school uniforms ready for next week. Filling the fridge and freezer with quick and easy meals ready for my CS on Monday, can't wait.

Hoping to be out on wednesday morning if everything goes well and to plan, don't want to stay in hospital any longer than I have to.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine again today. I must say the warm weather has not been a problem at all, even with being the size of a house.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 09/05/2008 10:33

Oh very organised mitchell - you'll probably go into labour whilst in the middle of ironing school shirts!!

A friend who was due the same day as me had her baby last night. I haven't any details but she was supposed to have an elective-C so no idea whether she arrived in time for it. I've not been in a rush for my baby to arrive but as everything hurts a lot today (or itches, which is almost as bad) so I'm quite that she's done with bump & birth and is now onto the recovery stage!

otter1980 · 09/05/2008 10:56

on the horror stories I got told a really horrible one - so when people try and frighten me with one I reply "ooo thats nothing, my friend's friend... etc" people do end up looking a bit put out when you beat them.

duchess - i feel your pain on the boring shoes front... I cant wait to put some heels on... Ive been in flats for nearly 9 months - its horrible!!

MM/ asics/ kangaAndRoo - how exciting!!! fingers crossed for you - sending eviction vibes!!

YCBS - PMSL at gladiators

having done some more reading Im sending eviction notices to all the bumps (unless mummies dont want them..) get out!!!!

does make me laugh that people dont seem to get that you need to heal, personally i can now see why women went into confinement before having the baby - it was so they didnt have to see people. Seriously the amount of emails/texts/ people coming up to me and asking "have you not has that baby yet?" i feel like answering oh, yeah - just stuffed this pillow up my top for a laugh and am walking like this for a bet... baby? oh shit!! i must have left it somewhere..." im not due till 19th as well and despite coming on here and moaning to you lot re pain/problems with consultants/ inductions etc I havent been telling people in RL as i didnt want this to happen... I go my 1st "baby out" call 6 weeks bfore my due date... is that a record?

Azaduhi · 09/05/2008 11:29

hi everyone,
not feeling well today, have been having a cold for a few days now and it seems to get worse (coughing, blocked nose and ears really don't need this when beeing 39 wks.
also keep throwing up which is quiet unusal for me. really had enough now, don't really feel like eating anything.

IndigoBlue · 09/05/2008 11:31

I really can't understand why it's always the same with people asking if anything's happening - especially people who've already got children and should really know how annoying it is to keep pestering!

I've had texts asking if anything's happening and when i say no, they say well let me know when it starts. As if I've got nothing better to do when I'm in the middle of giving birth!!

baiyu · 09/05/2008 11:31

Aah otter you and me both, I've stopped taking my phone anywhere with me, let them sweat if I don't reply!

My cousin had a gorgeous wee girl last night, they've called her Lilly. Big queue-jumper, she was due a week after me!

mitchell very impressed with your organisation. I was super organised a week ago now I'm all in a mess again, ah well!

Well I'm starting to suspect that my waters have been slowly leaking so I'm to go into the midwifery today to have a check, just in case there's a chance of infection. My midwife is on hols so seeing head of department so hoping she'll be great! Maybe she'll just press a button and I'll have a baby, I'd like that! Starting to lose my mind I fear...
Have a great day everyone

mumofk · 09/05/2008 12:42

azadhui-p sympathy for cold with bump- I've had that for 2 weeks now since jasmine landed- thought it was going but today the sore throat, cough and earache are back with a vengeance. I just hope you can get some sleep- that's what I'm missing most, cold symptoms interfering with new baby sleep windows- grrrr.
good luck girls with twinges/niggles/ Things Happening!
I did have a reason, something to share on here that I thought would be helpful- but I've forgotten. pregnabrain goes, new baby brain is even worse....
Anyway, this isn't what I intended to say but other possibly useful info bits- my stinking cold meant I had a few days of wee problems (serious hacking cough and pelvic floor...noooo!)and used sainsbury's equivalent to tenalady- very comfortable, slightly less bulky than maternity pads and ver good at dealing with blood and wee- so if you want something smaller than maternity but a little bit more than period stuff, I can recommend them.
Also, my midwife told me you can get lasinoh cream on prescription- its meant to be good but very expensive, so if you can get it free and wait till you know you need it...good on you!
Still no idea of the 'useful and important' thing I wanted to post, will be back if brain re-engages.....
p.s. still evangelical and happy with hypnobirthing stuff- breath that baby out, don't push and have a happier perineum (well, in my experience, which is amazing after stitches and bruising, etc last time)

mumblesmummy · 09/05/2008 13:47

Hi all,

Still no baby. Having the odd twinge but that's about all. DPs partner has just gone into labour and apparently the labour ward is chocker this week... which is great because it goes to pieces when it's busy and I won't get the birthing pool, and I will only be allowed one birthing partner- DP. AS opposed to DP and mum.

Bit worried about the whole thing now.

Baiyu-I got sent for my sweep early due to the SPD and the consultant, who is fantastic, said that he wanted to book me in for induction as soon as poss because I look so tired out, but earliest I can get in is Thursday because they're so busy. That's ok with me because I'm hoping to go before then, and consultant thinks I should be in labour pretty sharpish now as he did a really good sweep and I only stopped bleeding this morning!

I'm actually feeling really anxious, which is strange because I'd been chilled out about the birth. It's just suddenly hit me that I cannot see how an actual child is going to get out of my fanjo. Plus one of my sister's babies is critically ill so everyone's really tense and not focused on me giving birth, which is fine because it's an awful situation, but it's just making me PANIC.

Yellow flower- congratulations.

mumblesmummy · 09/05/2008 13:48

DPs parnter??????????????????????????? DPs COUSIN has gone into labour. What a typing error to make!!!

Youcannotbeserious · 09/05/2008 15:10

MM!! at your typing error!!!!

Sorry to hear about your worries... I can really see where you are coming from. I et you hardly feel you can say anything because of what the rest of your family (esp. your sis) is going through - but we are here for you (and so are your family....

I hope you are able to get to use the birthing pool if that's what you want. If the maternity unit has been really busy, you might be lucky and go in on a quiet day??

Have those tablets made any difference yet?

i got knocked back for a PhD today (starting in Sept). He took one look at me (or rather Mr Bump) and I might as well have walked back out of the door. Seems all his talk of prefering mature students counted for a lot less when it was obvious I wouldn't be up for 4 week trips for Australia and SA... oh well, DH wasn't too keen on me doing it anyway!

I am working from home now so enjoying a bit of sunshine and NOT missing that commute!!!

Mitchell You sound very organised!!!! I'm terrible at ironing!!!

Hope everyone else is well!

YCBS x

monkeysmama · 09/05/2008 15:20

Mumblesmummy you sound a bit panicked and sad. Keep your chin up-just think that in a few days you'll have baby! I think the enormity - physical and emotional- hits us all in different ways & at different times. I spent week before last in tears panicking but now am of the view that one way or another baby's coming out!

I really hope your sister's kid is ok too.

Saw mw this morning who wants to do a sweep next week 4 days before my due date. I may be naïve but why do they want to do that? Is it because my baby's back to back? I asked but I didn't really understand.

Azaduhi ...sickness? > start of something???
((hugs to you))

Mumblesmummy ...lol @ dps partneer/cousin...I was thinking what a strange situ! Lets hope things start moving for you soon hun....your sweep sounded more positive than mine...no bleeding here...but maybe coz everything is looser 2nd time around? LOL

Had period type pains all in my back last night....needless to say...absolutely nothing apart from pressure every now and then on cervix.

I've been in a clary sage bath (thanks pina!) used evening primrose oil where the sun dont shine sex next...curry? I just jkeep thinking back to 3 yrs ago and they did bugger all to shift dd!!

Hope everyone is well xx

gingerwench · 09/05/2008 18:09

well hello again to everyone still waiting..., I finished work today! yippee! I'm already feeling more relaxed and happier.

mumofk · 09/05/2008 18:21

I remembered my useful tip- don't leave skirting board dusting to the very last job! I haven't done them for a while as I was saving them up as a good 'all fours' job but never got near cleaning them. I'm not completely mad on cleaning, its just being sat feeding and looking at them and not being able to do anything about it! DH is far too busy with DD1 to add that to his list.

Fleurie76 · 09/05/2008 18:46

Hello all,
Just wanted to second the comments about everyone wanting to know if things are happening. One of my best friends keeps on asking me if I'll call her to let her know when I go into labour!! Next time I think I will push my dates forward a couple of weeks
On the same theme, how many times when you take a trip out shopping has somone said 'Have you got long dear?' / 'Oh you can't have long left?' I've had 5 in one trip - can anyone beat that? I know most people are just being sweet and interested but when it gets to the stage when you start to seriously consider taking flash cards out with you, it's just a bit annoying (sorry - bit of a rant there!)

mm sounds like you are quite tense at the moment, which is understandable given what's happening with your sister's baby - big hugs to you that you feel better soon.

Azaduhi hope you feel better soon and the sickness passes, but as kanga suggests - could be a sign?

Gingerwench congrats on finishing work, it feels good to be finally off doesn't it!

OK - off to start the barbie now and leave the cooking to DH!

Happy hot weekend to all

Azaduhi · 09/05/2008 19:29

nothing kicking off here thats for sure. bump went all quiet again.

i like the flashcard idea, i get daily comments: have u got long to go? and when i say baby is due in a weeks time i'll get shocked faces and comments like: NO your sooo tiny, you look like 4 months pregnant!!

i heard that 4 months comment millions of times but thats just how my bump is and always was even with dd1.

also got a call today: from a work collegue to ask if i had the baby yet. aeehm no i am due in 7 days, so imagine what will happen if i go overdue.

best thing is ignoring the comments we will soon be over it. people are just nosy.
