I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

emma so sorry to hear your news, take care of yourself

pixsix · 20/05/2008 09:41

Emma I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. Take care of yourself.

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 09:56

Emma I'm so very sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourselves.

Flumpy so so sorry it's not looking great for you - I hope the hospital can sort out what is happening and look after you.

Becky I am very nervous about my scan too - even though I don't think it'll be for a few weeks yet which seems an eternity away.

katie3677 · 20/05/2008 10:38

emma so sorry for your loss, look after yourself and Flumpy hope all goes well today.
I need a bit of advice. When I had my dating scan last week I was told that they didn't need to see my now until my 20 week scans, but as I have a history of MC, do you think I can push for a 12 week scan as well? I just feel that between 10 and 12 weeks is a bit of a critical time and couldn't bear it if I went to 20 week scan and found that something had gone wrong in between. DH says it would be better not to have 12 week scan as I get myself so worked up before them, and the stress can't be good, but surely 10 more weeks of stress isn't good either! What would you do?

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 10:45

Katie I can't see any harm in asking? How many weeks are you now?

Could they maybe do an extra scan at 14 weeks to space them out a bit, so it's not such a long wait between 12 weeks and 20?

katie3677 · 20/05/2008 10:55

I'm 10 now. I think I will just ask and see what they say. Thanks.

EffiePerine · 20/05/2008 11:03

Finally have my scan date: 17 June . Should be more or less bang on 12 weeks if my rather shoddy calculations are correct.

The antenatal care was really good last time, hope their standards haven't slipped . No waiting round for scans at all.

Can I ask those with older DCs what they;re doing re taking care of the pg woman? I'm hoicking DS around and he keeps wanting to bouce up and down on my tummy when I'm in bed - think he may suspect something . I'm assuming the bean is pretty well protected atm and I shouldn't worry too much...

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 11:09

Effie congrats on the scan date! We ended up telling our DD's a few weeks ago as one is rather too keen on being carried everywhere and I was getting exhausted - she's not light at nearly 3 years old!

How old is your DS? My DD's kind of get the concept of the baby a little, they know that they can't jump on my tummy - although they do tend to try and use the bulge as a handy seat/pillow if they're sitting on my knee at story time!

I have finally given in and put my maternity jeans on - with a long top to cover the elasticated waist bit - I'm so comfy!!

Not much of a bulge yet . DS only 19mo so not sure he would understand at all. Might have a chat with DH as to what I will and won't do so we can both be consistent.

Don't fret!

My bulge is part excessive potato consumption flab/part having had a huuuuugely stretched uterus last time which I don't think ever really snapped back to normal(carrying nearly 14lb of babies with my twin pregnancy).

I tend to lie on my back and fold my knees up over my tummy, balancing DD's on my shins for bouncing..or try to distract them into tickling games instead of bouncing ones..

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 11:25

turnip maternity jeans lovely but a bit hot..I'm relieved to hear about your 6lb, I have put on 9lb so far!!

Am trying to find some maternity trousers online which aren't jeans, are under the bump and are reasonably flattering..if anyone sees any nice ones can they let me know? I had some lovely cords from H&M which I lived in last time around. Can only find shiny polyester maternity trousers and would prefer cottony ones...

Our hospital does nuchal tests at 12 week scan too.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/05/2008 11:49

I'm really happy today. I've just heard about two ex-collegues who are expecting babies both the week before me I love hearing happy news.

I'm sitting here working again while the DSs are at preschool and childminder's.

I haven't weighed myself since I got pregnant yet. I prefer the head-in-the-sand approach to such things!

EffiePerine · 20/05/2008 11:53

GP weighed me yesterday, don't seem to have put on anything so far

if anything like pg with DS this will change (at least 2.5 stone by the end)

hotmama · 20/05/2008 12:59

Update - just been to the EPU this morning.

Everything fine! DC3 wiggling away with a healthy heartbeat.

They said they could see no reason for a bleed so not to worry unnecessarily - so relief.

Therefore, am now calm until I have my CVS on 5th June.

Counting down to the 9th June when I will be able to say I'm pregnant and everything is fine (hopefully)

[emoticons as I am at work!]

EffiePerine · 20/05/2008 13:06

great news hotmama

Verso · 20/05/2008 13:15

emma I'm so sorry. I have had missed m/cs too and it's completely devastating. Allow yourself time to grieve . It just seems so unfair that here we are, pootling along and chatting about our food cravings etc, and then every now and again someone has to drop out. It makes me really sad .

On the wee front I'm one of the NOT up all night lot, which I'm grateful for as the bunny clock only worked for two days and then DD was up this morning at 4:45am again !!! I remember last time it caught up with me later on, when DD was getting bigger and heavier... and I also had insomnia in the third trimester too.

DD is 3 - and she knows about babies (adores them in fact) but we haven't told her yet (although she keeps telling me she has a baby sister ). I'm going to tell her next week if our nuchal scan is ok. (I'll be nearly 13 weeks by then.) She bounces on me - and leans back on my boobs when I'm reading her story (!) but realises that mummy is a bit sore/tender at the moment when she does that and keeps saying "sorry" and giving me kisses to make it better .

Congratulations on the great scan, hotmama!

kayzisexpecting · 20/05/2008 14:38

Emma I'm really sorry. Please look after yourself.

DS doesn't know as he is too young really to understand. He does keep jumping on my tummy but I stop him straight away really.

Congrats about you scan hotmama

EmmaPP · 20/05/2008 15:05

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Bye and good luck Emma

chutneymary · 20/05/2008 15:14

I'm so sorry Emma. Take care.

Any word from Flumpy? Hope you are OK.

My DDs both jump all over me but I reckon that there is enough padding to protect the baby. I have lost weight so far but end up like a tank so it evens itself out. Still in normal clothes, which is as well as both my last pgs have been winter ones so only have jeans which are suitable.

Jojo have nice cotton trousers - oh, and topshop.

Got to go - more later.

mibbes · 20/05/2008 15:19

Emma so sorry for you loss - take care of yourself xx
Katie it is definitely worth asking for an extra scan esp with history of mc. Could you get a private scan if they say no ? I wanted another scan closer to 12 weeks as mine ended up being 10+6 but this is 1st my pregnancy so will just wait until 20 wks and hope I have a inflated belly by then to keep me sane
wow hatty and turniphead you have bumps already ! I have nothing - now that people know want something to show for it ! I thought a few weeks ago there was the start of a teeny belly but it seems to have gone - must've just been bloated ! hatty I bought maternity linen trouser from Red herring on Fri - no idea if they'll stay up though as don't fit them yet, just bought them because Debenhams had a sale on.
I always need a wee at approx 5am - pretty sure the sun rising wakes me - but this is not unusual for me as was often one for early morning loo trips. DP says i should drink less in the evening but am finding it difficult enough to stay hydrated as it is !
We don't get nuchal fold atall - just a blood test and if that comes back high risk then further tests... Have been considering getting one done privately though - what do people think ? TBH just want another look at baby !
Hurray hotmama lovelt news
Verso how strange that your DD reckons she has a baby sister...

Flumpybumpy · 20/05/2008 16:07

Hi everyone, went to EPU and midwife said from my symptoms it sounded very much like I had miscarried. She did a scan to confirm and we were all stunned to see DC3 wriggling around like a loony and even gave a little wave.

So all is well baby is slightly bigger than my dates so have got my dating scan on Thursday where they will confirm how far gone I am.
