I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello everyone! Can I join your group? I am due 9 December (just been to the GP). This will be my third (fourth pregnancy as I had a MMC at 12 weeks between DS1 and DS2). I have two boys aged 4 and 2 who are currently playing what they call 'the cat flap game' (basically involves passing toys to each other through the cat flap, much to the cat's annoyance).

MaeWest · 23/04/2008 18:48

Effie I'm on July 06 post-natal (just, as DS born 31st) but think our paths have crossed on bf threads. Congratulations We started 'trying' at Christmas (or rather, being lax with contraception) and I was a bit surprised to get pg so quickly this time.

hattyyellow my DS is just coming up to 21 months, but weighs about 30lb - you just have to get on with the lifting when you have a toddler already don't you? All that wafting around resting is for the first pregnancy . I'm trying to be a bit more careful about my back and tummy muscles when I lift him, and refuse to carry him downstairs as he's perfectly capable of doing it himself!

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while but have been lurking and trying to keep up with all the posts.

Hello to all the new people! Sorry to all those with rubbish Drs.

Well after what seemed like ages with no symptoms, I am now feeling sick most of the time, sleeping 12 hours a day, suffering from headaches and sore nips. Also think I must have gained about 2 stone already (too scared to get on the scales but can barely squeeze in to my Fat Jeans - my Thin Jeans are a distant memory ).

Mibbes, I took another test on Mon too!

My vital stats:

Me: 28
Him: 34
Kids: None yet
Where we live: It's a bit complicated at the moment!
My job: Also complicated at the mo.

I have my Booking In appt on Monday when I will be 8 + 1.

Best wishes to everyone.

EffiePerine · 23/04/2008 19:56

Re: symptoms, I tested because I was feeling sick and tired, but other than falling asleep on the bus every day the symptoms seem to have faded again. Can't remember feeling sick this early with DS but it's all a bit of a blur. Am just waiting to see what happens as I fell it's really really early days yet.

I do hate the first trimester - feeling groggy and worried about MC - but I have to say it's MUCH nicer when the sun is out! Last time it was cold and dark most of the time, then I was heaviily pg in the hot summer of 2006 .

EffiePerine · 23/04/2008 19:56

oh and am avoiding doctors for as long as poss - will just go for booking appointment at 10 weeks.

abbymeg · 23/04/2008 20:38

Hiccymapops thanks. I've booked an early MW appt next week. If she's anything like the GPs at the practice, then I will leave straight after and find another doctor!

Hello to turniphead. It will be an interesting Christmas this year!

Effie totally agree about the sunshine .

Verso · 23/04/2008 20:49

abbymeg, I second the chorus of voices urging you to change GP. Blimey, what a shocker!

Having been nauseous all day, my nausea has now stopped, so of course I'm fretting . I'm sure it will be fine really, but I can't help it!!

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 20:51

abbeymeg, at your GP, that's awful, fingers crossed you have a lovely mw

verso, how did your scan go?

Re carrying toddlers, I'm only carrying mine when absolutely necessary. He's 2.3 so more than capable of walking up & down the stairs & everywhere else!

(My scan was last Friday ... have I been muddled up with someone else?!) We saw the heartbeat, but it was teeny tiny, like a tiny flashing hyphen (only smaller). My next scan is next Friday, when I'll be 9w1d (I hope).

oh sorry verso, I must have missed your post last week. Glad everything's ok.

Annagt · 23/04/2008 21:23

Hi everyone- I'm new- and totally scared out of my wits. I just found out last night from a home pregnancy test. But it was a really clear pink line and I feel heavy and nauseated so I'm sure.
Its my first baby- and I'm so nervous, I dont know what to do- I have no clue.
I did an online calculator and it said I was supposedly due on Dec 25th- so I guess a great X-mas present for my husband and I both.

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 21:32

hi annagt, welcome & congratulations! We've all been there and it is very scary first time around [hugs]. First thing to do is go to your GP & s/he should refer you to a midwife.

hth

Annagt · 23/04/2008 21:36

AAHH! Thanks Rosmerta for the quick response, I feel kinda behind that you all have known for so long and have already had scans and stuff and I'm totally lost and have no idea of what to do- How did you all know already?? I guess I'm one of the later ones in the month...

MaeWest · 23/04/2008 21:44

Congratulations Annagt, definitely a great Christmas present. Antenatal care tends to vary between areas, but usually you will have a booking appointment with the midwife between 8 - 12 weeks.

Last time (first baby) I had appt with the GP which went something like:

Me: I'm pregnant
GP: Have you done a test
Me: Yes
GP: Well, sounds like you're pregnant, make an appointment with the midwives

and that was pretty much it. There was some flummery with the little wheel thing they use to work out your due date, together with an exhortation to start taking folic acid and stop drinking and smoking (but I'd sort of worked that out for myself...)

Annagt · 23/04/2008 21:56

Thanks MaeWest-
I have so many questions- I dont know even where to start...
Are you all already telling people about it? Is that feux pas? What if I do loose it? and, is that really that common? I just found out and I had no idea until a few days ago- before then I drank like a fish and wasn't very good to myself- I looked online and found out that the baby already has eyes and a heart! Holy COW! I had no idea it was even there!! Have I totally messed it up already?>??!!- As you can tell I'm freaking out a bit.

Annagt · 23/04/2008 21:58

Sounds like the GP isn't a lot of help??
I guess i will have to ask you all ..

sureitsno3 · 23/04/2008 21:58

I know i am a right old nag bag but...

Did you all get bright BFPs straight away?

i am still in limbo, AF due Monday, still not arrived, loads of CM, and got the faint pos on a CB yesterday (see profile).

So sorry to pester you all.

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 22:03

annagt, don't worry about what you've been doing! First time around with me, I was drinking loads & eating sushi before I found out. Its entirely up to you when you tell people, but I would say majority don't say anything until the first scan just in case. This is pg no 2 for me & I've told loads of people this time! If you're not sure what to do then I would suggest you ring your GP surgery and speak to them, or ring the antenatal dept of your local hospital. Oh, and re scans, I think a few people on here have had an early scan so we're all between 5-8 weeks (I think!), you're not that far behind!

sureitsno3, I can't tell from the picture tbh, I really would recommend a clearblue test, the one that says 'pg' 'not pg', no doubts that way.

I did do a digital this morning, and did get a not pregnant but i didn't hold it in the sample long enough because i am an idiot and didn't read it properly.

Annagt · 23/04/2008 22:12

So the GP will schedule the scan? or do I have to do it with the antenatal dept of the hospital? I called my GP - appointment scheduled for next Tuesday.. is that too late? I wouldn't think he would do the scan right there in the office will he??

Annagt · 23/04/2008 22:16

Thanks for the message Turniphead1- this is really actually calming to write about it-
