dont think bf as contraceptive is good for us then, millie goes longer than 4 hour gap. great.

Denny185 · 05/05/2008 16:15

O dear you 2 dont sound like your having a good time, I think the pharmacist was toastaddict but not 100%

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:19

oh and no shape change. i really think her latch is fine. i want to cry. dh is not here and i have no way to get to a gp or chemist or anything.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:20

I'd say sounds like thrush scorpio, straight to docs tomorrow, if she has the white spots you dont need to check the latch.
I've done a thread about it if you click my profile it'll be linked on there.
Fucking painful aint it?!!??!

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:22

i have just read your thread. her tongue is white though i can see her taste buds though the white iyswim? tis white white and thick? and a few pin prick white spots in her cheek that i have tried to rub but wont come off. i want to cry it hurts so much and im alone. i dont want to ff but it hurts so bad.

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:23

can a pharmacist do the medicine or do i need gp? dont mind paying.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:25

lexs mouth is the same, exactly the same.
I know what you mean about the formula, I wanted to do it last ngiht! The thing that made me feed myself (we had EBM in the fridge) was that his mouth hurt, and I know feeding from breast helps them or I'd have left DP to do it tbh.
Also, I expressed and fed yesterday and even before I got any of this medicene it started to feel better, can you leave your top off and just keep squeezing breastmilk on your nipples?
I thnk that helped.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:26

If you can get to an open chemist, they can do it, you need something for oral thrush and something for nipple thrush, apaprently daktarin is the best.

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:27

i expressed yesterday and this morning but it still hurt. i dont have enough expressed for another feed so will have to boob feed her.

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:27

cool thanks

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:29

have just phoned the big boots one and they are shut

moominsmummy · 05/05/2008 16:29

aww Scorpio - sounds like thrush to me. can you get GP to come out to you - just say you cannot get to a walk in clinic - they often carry a small supply of medicines with them.

am trying to get hold of my mum for you as seem to remember she had some "homemade" treatment for thrush which could work until you can get script from GP. i think leaving your boobs to the air is supposed to help too - if not practical to walk around with boobs out then improvise with plastic tea strainer or similar inside the bra - it'll allow air to circulate

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:29

can i put canesten on them?

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:31

yes after every feed put canesten on (if you have some), leave them to air dry.

moominsmummy · 05/05/2008 16:32

can't get hold of my mum but have googled what I thought the remedy was and it is mentioned on loads of sites...

dissolve some bicarb of soda in a cup, soak your nipple in it for a few moments then allow to air dry. hopefully this might help until you can get the proper meds??

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:32

ok, thankyou so much, even though you are in pain yourself

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:39

No prob, i'd still go to the gp for the antib's tomorrow if you can cos if it's in your breast you'll need them, make sure you mention millies spots or they'll blame latch, and tell them it hurts in your breast after feeding, not just your nipple, then they'll treat it internally as well.

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:40

on call gp is ringing me back asap

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:44

Good, I had to get dp to call last night cos i couldnt as i knew i'd cry!

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:51

they cant do anything today have to see gp tomorrow. they said they dont carry creams/drops in car.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 16:57

Is it natural yoghurt used for thrush down there? can you get any of that?
Pity it's a bank bleeding holiday it happens eh?
We had to drive miles to get to a chemist earlier.

elfsmummy · 05/05/2008 18:47

Hi Guys.
Friend of mine just been through the whole thrush thing and I posted about it on here as she got some pretty dodgy advise from the GP. Basically the outcome was - Daktarin gel on nipples and LOs mouth after every feed. Continue for 7 days after symptoms gone.

You can buy daktarin over the counter. If you look in your local paper Scorpio - you'll find your nearest 24 hour chemist.

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 19:18

i have given her the ebm from earlier and toped her up with an oz of formula. i feel ok about that. i did it just to give my nipples a rest, her next feed will be her just before bed feed which i will do.gp on the phone (not mine) said i should ff her totally until tomorrow - err so i will be engorged as well as sore?? no thanks. i said i didnt want to ff her at all and he didnt get it i dont think. i feel bad she has had an oz but thats so small compared to my milk she has had since day dot!! (telling myself this to make myself feel better)

So i will get meds from the gp and ask him about this daktarin stuff too. my mum came up and fed the kids to help me which was nice.

Woollymummy · 05/05/2008 19:38

MW came to check me yesterday and got me an induction booked for Wed pm, I am so relieved as DP has to be away from Friday for a couple of weeks and I need this baby out now. Any tips on what to expect with an induction, please let me know. I am relieved but now getting excited and want to make the best of the situation. Basically I think my bump sticks out so far that gravity has NO chance of getting his head to press on the cervix enough to efface it naturally, more likely that he would just hang around in some kind-of beer-belly limbo for years...

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 19:39

Is he mental?
If you'd not fed millie at all you'd be in agony! (Well, more agony than you are now) We were pretty lucky when we spoke to the GP there was a nurse there and she called the local maternity midwifery unit to ask them and then gave us their number if we needed them.
