I think D and I have thrush , My nipples are on fire and my actual breast hurts, but not during feeding, I did a thread about it and thrush was suggested so I've looked it up and it seems that is what it is, it's made me sad now though cos it says that his mouth will be hurting and that it's why he is fretful and windy

Carey87 · 04/05/2008 22:51

hi moomins - no your not dont worry

i bet theyve all got their lo's

not long for us though hun, when are you being induced again?

Cxx

Annieroo · 05/05/2008 07:04

congratulatins everyone!

Sophie May born 1st May 15.59 EMCS 6lb 5oz. Birth story to follow. she's beautiful!

moominsmummy · 05/05/2008 08:26

congratulations annie roo! glad sophie is here safely.

VS - sorry about the thrush -can you see white bits in D's mouth? hope it gets better soon.

Carey - glad (for me) that you're still here too! I am going to see consultants tuesday and think they'll want to induce me wednesday - hoping to put them off til the friday though. nothing happening here except that I have started to get puffy - haven't had any swelling at all up until now. would like to think it's a sign of something imminent happening but last time I went puffy at 7 months and he was still late!

Denny185 · 05/05/2008 09:08

Congratulations annieroo

for VS hope it gets sorted soon

morning moomins any vomiting this am? My ds has now thrown up 3 nights in a row, absolutely fine during the day, but between 2 and 4 hours after going to bed havnt a clue whats causing it tres bizare.

DH goes for his snip tomorrow, no more pills for me

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 09:21

yes mm, he has a white tongue, it's def thrush, a nice out-of-ours gp spoke to dp on the phone last night and did a prescription for us to collect this morning, it bloody kills though, so if anyone gets REALLY sore nipples make sure you check out thrush, I knew it wasnt' the latch with us but i very nearly didn't post about it.
At least i know why ds was feeding so much now (he wouldnt have been taking a full feed as his mouth was hurting, so when he stopped he was still hungry) also it's probably why he wasn'e sleeping much either.

moominsmummy · 05/05/2008 09:33

VS - so glad you've got it sorted now. hopefully feeding will settle down a bit now

Denny - fortunately DS has stopped throwing up - he still had high temp during the night but is pretty much back to his usual self this morning - thankfully. Just have to hope that neither DH nor I go down with it.

Am thinking of wearing sign on my top from now on saying "no I haven't had it, yes it is overdue, DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT IT"

I think it's people's stupid comments and continual questionning which makes going overdue so much harder - it's getting increasingly difficult to be polite in response

Carey87 · 05/05/2008 09:45

morning all!

i had a really horrible dream last night night that everyone left this thread and wouldnt let me join the new one because lo wasnt born in April!

very achy here but I'm just ignoring it all now, me and DP have agreed to spend the whole day scrubbing the house and getting everything ready, just got to do the horse first, might even sit on him for 10 mins

moomins - i hope they listen to your wishes, I was thinking that maybe I should have waited a bit longer (its my first) but then I'm just so fed up now

Denny185 · 05/05/2008 10:05

Hope that treatment works quickly for you and DS's mouth stops hurting soon.

The longest I have ever been pregnant is 41 weeks and I went into total melt down by the end of it, stopped answering phone, ignored texts just wallowed on the sofa. Def agree with you its everyones constant enquiries that makes it worse, do they really think you'd not tell them. Goodcatholicgirl got to about 38 weeks when her sister phoned her to ask if she'd gone into labour yet and she was the person they were calling to look after DD

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 05/05/2008 10:09

oh carey thats not going to happen lol!

was out yesterday so the news for then and today is:

jenniejennie had euan george, 8lb oz on thursday, oain free water birth but needed forceps at the end.

eva is still in hospital, induced soon (today or tomorrow- says tomorrow on text but phone wont tell me when text sent!) if baby hasn't descended.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 05/05/2008 10:12

went to parents yeserday and dad spent all the time telling me bas is too scawny and i dont have enough milk and am harming him , mum and i went to park to get away from him and my sister turned up, obviously pprimed, and said same thing. being weighed tomorrow but am a bit tearful today, dh v v with them although its typical behaviour tbh.

just praying he's finally gained tomorrow.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 10:14

Grrrr @ your Dad Peachy.
You know as well as I do that you have enough milk, if he hasn't gained what are you going to do?
(Is it going to be those stupid scales again?)

Soph73 · 05/05/2008 10:16

Morning all. Congrats to those who´ve had their lo´s & more positive vibes for those who are still waiting. VS - you poor thing, hope it clears up soon. Saw the midwife on Fri & stitches are healing nicely & she´s given me the name of a contraceptive I can start taking after I´ve had a period. DH is starting to climb the walls as he can´t (read - I won´t let him ) get near me until the stitches are gone ... poor thing

Sam still being adorable. Hopefully the hospital will phone soon so we can get his results. Forgot to say that he weighed 3.3kg (just over 7lbs I think) & was 53cm long. MIL is still here & doing loads of stuff for us which is just as well as the paperwork we have to do & the different offices we have to go to is a nightmare. At least this way I don´t have to cart Sam around while we´re sorting it out.

Anyway, have to dash. Take care all & will try and check back during the week.

Love, Soph xxxxx

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 05/05/2008 10:22

i know i have plenty of milok, and he's thriving- alert, glowing (will take another pic and post later), loads of wet and dirtynappies..... there's this high metabolism thing in dh's family, kids eat far too much but are scawny.

hv happy for me to bf until 6 weeks whatever, will call counsellor just to check all ok. After 6 weeks dh will introduce one bottlemif he's still stuck at 8lbs, which he will so bas doesn't associate with me. will have to get formula on prescription, as cant risk the dairy and soya rotted ds1's teeth

dh convinced bas is ok though so will focus on that!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 05/05/2008 10:29

Soph- if you need a chat about sam or help with any paperwork, there's an off-mn support group on yahoo that i'm in and has s few mums with kids with ds, some international, I know you'd be welcome so just CAT me X

bigbadmom · 05/05/2008 12:21

Moomin - nothing here! Just very achey like Carey, more show on Friday, then again on Sat and even yesterday - but nothing else. A bit of it was slightly blood specked, I might check that out online. Otherwise sounded just like Carey's second lot.
Feel like have strong period pains, nowt more.
Think ignoring it is v.sensible - I keep paying way too much attention and then it stops again. Anyone know any tricks to convert these back pains into actual contractions?!
Carey don't worry I am still straggling and not even due to have my post dates 'til Thursday now as they muddled up my dates inititally by a week. So I could still be here mid May at this rate!
VS - bad luck - hope it's clearing up okay, sounds like the last thing you need. OW.
Good luck Mum2B as well.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 05/05/2008 12:23

bigbadmom- spunds like the stafe clary stage is good for, was for me anyway.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 05/05/2008 12:24

Eva07 had Nora Martina today, 3.45kg, bf well. Apparently the most beautiful baby in the world, but I can only allow her the female category

This thread doing its bit to populate south Wales LOL

moominsmummy · 05/05/2008 12:41

bigbad - sorry nothing much happening but would have refused to talk to you anymore if you had abandoned me

excellent news from eva - wonder if she got induced in the end?

I have got cabin fever here - didn't go out at all yesterday cos DS was ill, although he is much better today he doesn't want to go out at all and just wants to lie on sofa watching tv. I am sick of house and want to go out to garden centre - so I can at least do some planting in my new flowerbed. DH is not well so fast asleep in bed. bored bored bored

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 13:17

i have sore nipples too they hurt like they are on fire when she latches and then the pain goes. What are the signs of thrush?

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 13:54

have just been reading some stuff and it seems like maybe im not putting her tummy to mine iyswim. her latch seems ok though from the websites i have read - short sucks followed by long deep ones with swallowing, no visible brown bit, etc etc. just the end bits of my nipples are very sore, maybe she is having to pull them if that makes sense? she has been feeding alot though(growth spurt??), maybe thats it?

BTW, how much does/will bf-ing stop me getting pg? hate condoms so much and have already slipped up Mimi is 17 days today.

elfsmummy · 05/05/2008 14:35

Hello all

Its been a while - we've been back into hospital for an overnight observation as DD2 got a cold and went really sleepy. Was having to wake her for feed and she was only having a few minutes from one side before dropping off again

Anyway they think it was probably bronchiolitis and she's better in herself now. Although still a much sleepier baby than DD1 ever was.

MW came yesterday and despite all my concerns she'd put on a pound in 1 week!! She now weighs the same as DD1 did at 9 weeks of age.

Aside from that, all's well here - mums is coming up tonight for a few days to help me out and next week DH has his second week of paternity leave so I'm lloking forward to that - a week without any other visitors!

Scorpio I think you should be ok at 17 days but I wouldn't risk it again! And personally I wouldn't trust breastfeeding as a method of contraception - although some quoted rates of protection are pretty good - especially if Millie is still having a long stretch without feeds overnight.

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday everyone and best of luck to all those still waiting. FWIW I had a lovely induction with DD1 and would have done it again no probs!

PortAndLemon · 05/05/2008 14:49

It only "works" reliably if you are feeding every two hours all day with I think up to one four-hour gap at night, and have no changes in cervical fluid. Beyond that you're into "risky" territory (although your slip-up should be OK as I can't imagine you'd have ovulated yet). I didn't ovulate until DS was 9 months and night-weaned, but everyone is different and it's not something to rely on.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 14:57

Apparently, it is impossible to get pg before 21days, everything I've read even on the GMC and doctors websites say no-one has ever ovulated before 27days, so to make patients use contraception by 21days.
BFing has to be really exclusive and constant and your body not having started getting back to normal.
If your nips are sore I'd get your latch checked first, (only reason I was so sure about my latch was because of DS1, they feed exactly the same) How is your nipple when she finishes feeding? Any shape change?
Also it could just be let down reflex you're feeling if it is only when she first latches, is there pain at any other time? I havealways had painful let down so for the first ten seconds of any feed I want to scream, lol.
thrush info here though just incase.

Who was the pharamcist??Have a question if they're about.

scorpio1 · 05/05/2008 16:07

its definite nipple pain, not let-down, i have worked that feeling out like tingly.

my nipples are pink and shiny and mimi has a white tongue. this is day 3 of the pain now it didnt hurt before. i really dont think it is the latch but i will get it checked tomorrow. it hurts so much i feel like i dont want to feed but i nearly cry at the thought of giving up.
