Oh Ellie, I just read your thread and am so sad that you've been given such poor support. I haven't posted on there because I'm not an expert on b/f - I had a really hard 4 1/2 months of it with DD1 and a completely different experience with DD2 so far and that's about the extent of it. There are so many other people who can give you some constructive advice.

But I just wanted to say this can be fixed I'm sure of it. If you're keen to make it work, don't take the HV's word for it. Speak to the specialists, and if you don't get it the first time, speak to them again ... and again and again.

You can get over this blip. You're doing brilliantly!! Don't let them get you down or make decisions for you .

Morning all!!!

Ellie - how are things today? Hope you feel really supported/encouraged by all the posts you got on your thread.

any baby news today???

I am back to hoping that LO does not make an appearance today as DS has woken with temp of 101 and has thrown up even before he's had anything to eat. No idea what it is though as he says that nothing is hurting (except his knee where he banged it yesterday). So now am keeping close eye on him. Also have to watch DH carefully in case he starts feeling poorly...... childbirth can definitely wait another day!

At last, I am on MN! We had a baby boy last weekend (26th April). We have called him Eli Michael. He was 7 lbs 15 and a half ozs. It was a wonderful, magical water birth, the most amazing experience of my life. Had him totally naturally and was only in the birthing pool for three hours before giving birth. I stayed in hospital for three days and was treated like a queen - I was the only one there (it is a very small hospital with only four beds).

Loving being a mummy and am very relieved to be bf-ing fine. Hope everyone else is doing well.

I am very very glad I finally got around to putting waterproof mattress cover on our bed as DS has just thrown up all over the place (including on the duvet I spent ages ironing the other day). deep joy.

nothing happening here, which means hospital tuesday evening but last night I had another huge(!) bit of snotty coloured stuff that was streaked with a bit of blood. Is this still my mucus plug that is coming away?

on the plus side, I managed to sleep all the way through from 12 - 8.30!!! I think it has been a good 4 months since I've not woken up in the middle of the night

carey - really hope it's the start of something happening - can't advise on what the "stuff" is as never had anything like it myself - hopefully someone will be able to advise

I am resigned to an induction really- the one thing I hated last time was being on a big ward during early labour. Am hoping that as DH is immune-suppressed it will be our ticket to a private room this time!

have just found out there is a sicky bug going round the town - which is clearly what DS has - apparently it lasts about 36 hours which is a huge relief. we do have emergency childcare in place but i don't want to be having to leave DS with someone else when he's feeling so poorly.

Definitely sounds like more show to me Carey - hopefully it's a good sign. You still have a couple of days which is plenty time!

Just what you need moominsmummy. Definitely agree that it sounds like you could do with a day or two before LO comes.

Warm congrats littlemissturquoise on the arrival of Eli. I was wondering how things were going . That's priceless that they arrived on the same day. Ditto - if I'd taken the plunge and gone to Montrose ... but then I wouldn't have wanted to spoil your one to one!! Sounds lovely. Any pics?

Hi, congrats to all the new mums. Will have to catch up in the next few days.

Emilia was born on 20th April weighing 7lb15oz. She's gorgeous but a full-time job! Have no family help and tried in vain to find a doula to come in so finding it busy.

I had a very long labour, took from Friday afternoon to 3 in the morning on the day she was finally born to get from 2-5 centimeters. I managed with a tens machine until they decided to induce me as my waters had gone more than 24 hours at that point(it didn't speed things up any) and then asked for an epidural. It meant I could sleep a bit and since she wasn't born until 11 hours later, I really needed it! It was a ventouse delivery with an episiotomy (ouch) as Emilia was in distress. I then had to have the placenta surgically removed but they just topped up the epidural. I recovered very well from the birth but hated staying in hospital (we had to stay two days as Emilia needed antibiotics).

DH is besotted and great with her, I am dreading him going back to work.

Thos of you being induced, some of you don't seem to impressed, you do know you can tell them you're happy to wait and want expectant management instead don't you?

Basically they'll keep more of an eye on you, mainly your placental function and wait until your body says it's ready to get baby out, just a thought.

VS - yes am going to ask about expectant management - they will want to induce me next wednesday but I want to wait until friday at least. They don't do inductions at the weekend so the only other option would be to wait til the following Monday when I'll be 17 days over and although I want to avoid induction I would be quite nervous about going that far over... can't seem to find many people on MN who have done EM and gone that far?

Olivia is really her own person now and lets us know she is there . She is getting very good at settling herself to sleep in her cot, and although I feed her once or twice in the night, I'm not fussed. Will prob try to get her to sleep through in a week or two - see how things go (as I'm BF-ing, I'm not too bothered as such). However her cry is EXTREMELY LOUD and I'm sure everyone within 2 miles can hear her! LOL.

I'm Robyn's mummy! I'm sure I put my name at the bottom of my text to Peachy but then again, maybe not- you don't really know what you're doing when you've just given birth!!

Anyway, I went in to be induced on Thursday 1st and was given my 1st dose of gel at about 10.30am. I had contractions every 3-5mins all afternoon but they were bearable with dihydracodeine and paracetamol. At 6pm when they examined me they said I was 3-4cm dilated so they would be able to break my waters but the labour ward was full so it was a case of waiting to be called down. They finally said we could go down at 10pm.
I asked for diamorphine, they broke my waters and I had about another hour of contractions which were getting stronger. I then had a massive urge to push so they said that was fine. Gave me an episiotomy on my 2nd push and her head came out, 3rd push and Robyn Olivia was born weighing 8lb 1oz!

DS is much better this evening and so far DH hasn't gone down with it (fingers crossed)

it's suspiciously quiet from the other overdue people - m2b2broo, bigbadmum, sagitta, eva .....hope they haven't all selfishly abandoned me and gone and had their babies. altho Carey was on this morning so hoping I am not the only pregnant person left in the world.....
