albs no, it was Hemsby in Norfolk...terrifying place. My friend went for a walk to the beach and came back with some, erm, interesting photos of incredibly racist tat for sale in the local shops.

hi guys I have a new phone I'm testing ooh the screen is weeny for typing. Feel really cross today had big bust up with dp who is mystified and am just generally in need of a. Scowly b. Sulky emoticons. How I would hate to live with myself.

VintageGardenia · 14/04/2008 20:07

Good work on the list ts. Hope de better today sorry you had such a rubbish time at doc. What is it, why are schools doctors holiday camps dps in laws all risking the wrath of the August board? We are pregnant, hear us ROAR.

Gah.

dizzydixies · 14/04/2008 20:15
CaptainCaveman · 14/04/2008 21:00

oooh VG, does that feel better?

Who is this Dizzy of whom you speak? I think she introduced herself a few posts back - anyone ever heard of her? She's awfully quiet, perhaps we can encourage her to post a little more?

The drugs dizzy are Clomipramine, starting on 25mg. Apparantly they'll safely give you up to 75mg. They will see how I feel and suggest weaning off them at 36 weeks then recommence immediately post-partum, however, that is my decision to make and I don't have to come off them. I'm just glad I feel well

why is it always 9pm before I get to post on here?!! I never even made it to Yoga as we had no bread in the house and i couldn't very well leave dh and ds with no food. Never mind, there is always next week!!

VintageGardenia · 14/04/2008 22:43

Thanks guys. Harrumph.

Back on normal computer, using web on phone is very dissatisfying.

Hope you are all well today / have been well today. CC I am still looking for an antenatal yoga class to accommodate me around work times etc, I can't wait to start. Might ease some of my vile temper out of me and fill me with lightness and positivity.

Night night ladies.

stickybean · 15/04/2008 08:45

Hello ladies,
I haven't been on for ages as i've been in Australia and Hong Kong on holiday. Had a great time and my bump has doubled in size in the 2 weeks ive been away, definately look pregnant now and not just fat!!!

Had my 20 week scan, well actually had it twice as baby wouldnt roll over and show its face or heart first time round. All seems fine.

Been feeling kicks for a couple of weeks which is lovley, can even see my tummy moving every now and again now as well.

Can i ask how much weight people have put on? feel free not to answer if you dont want to share or involve yourself in weighty issues, i am just wondering what is normal for 22 weeks. I have put on nearly a stone and i feel like it is a lot for this point but really have no reference. Not worried just interested really.

Chat soon, hope you are all well.

xxx

libbyssister · 15/04/2008 09:45

Lovely that you've been away, Stickybean, sounds fab!

Feel utter rubbish today. Tears last night, tears in the car to work this morning. My back/butt/hip pain is so painful it makes me squeal and I'm so fed up with it. DH has gone to London for the book fair until Thursday and there's so much to do. Worse, there's so much to do at work and I'm procrastinating and typing this instead!!. I just want to hide for a few days. It's the hormones, right?

S'probably best I don't chip in about the weight thing, no-one's gonna thank me for it! I was thinking about posting a thread on the main pregnancy pages to see if anyone else loses weight.

Right off to go and cheer myself up. Put the kettle on!

PetitFilou1 · 15/04/2008 11:10

Hello all
Have had the scan this morning (21 weeks 1 day) and as I thought I'm having a blue one so that will be boy, girl, boy for me! I said to dh - only one wedding to pay for...

Annoyingly the scan didn't bring complete reassurance as the ventricular size is the upper end of normal (although still normal) so I have a growth scan in 4 weeks. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that it stays stable! Everything else was fine though.

libbyssister · 15/04/2008 11:19

Congratulations PetitF! Will your DS and DD be pleased? Did they have a preference?

What do you mean by ventricular size?

VintageGardenia · 15/04/2008 11:21

Hi guys, welcome back sticky, am very of your hol.

Re. weight I am 24 weeks and am up 1 stone 4 pounds and not very pleased about it considering my aim for the whole preg was two stone. I think I am eating healthily, and not mounds (except at brekker when I eat 2 vast bowls of Special K with banana sliced in! but milk so thin it's blue). Alors.

Libby that's been me off and on - as you know, it passes. yesterday I had a black day of fury, today the sun's out, the dogs have been sweet and I've done loads of invoicing instead of loads of work! V. satisfying. Tomorrow I'm sure I'll be face down in the pillow all day with heaving shoulders, or possibly picking another pointless row with the long suffering DP. I hope your cup of tea cheers. Who was it the otehr week who burst into floods mid-buttering of toast? I told DP that one to convince him I Am Not Mad.

pf congrats on your boy! The list is so large at the stage I am steering clear but I do cast an eye over the boys vs girls stats, and am trusting TS to maintain admin duty . What does the ventricular size mean?

Also does anyone know if laxatives are ok during preg or of a natural alternative oh dear .

libbyssister · 15/04/2008 11:26

Ouch VG, you a bit bunged up?? Don't know whether you're allowed laxatives. I know iron tablets have a reputation for making you constipated but I find that they keep my 'going'. As soon as I don't take them it gets worse... And I know they're safe!

Cup of tea has helped a bit. And a friend at work has made me smile by trying to piss-take away my grumpy mood

VintageGardenia · 15/04/2008 11:29

Yes ooh how.. unladylike this whole business is. I am supposed to be taking Pregnacare (and I do when I can stomach the massive blighters) so perhaps I should be more regular (boom boom) with taking them. I fear I'll end up having to drink cod liver oil or something all natural and Victorian.

TwilightSurfer · 15/04/2008 11:30

Stickybean WOW on your globe trotting. Very Angelina of you while pregnant. Glad all is well.

Petitfilou YEAH!!! A BOY!!! You help to bring our thread totals back to a tie. 10 boys and 10 girls.

Weight: At 20 weeks I'd gained a half a stone(7lbs). That matches my weight gain for my first pregnancy. I'm due for an EXPLOSIVE GAIN. I gained a total of 30lbs last time.

Libby {{hugs}}. Here's some chocolate.

VG....I don't think laxatives are a good idea but that's just personal. Maybe apple or prune juice alternatively.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 15/04/2008 11:30

That newbie, dizzyditsy or whatever she was called, she didn't hang round for long.

PetitFilou1 · 15/04/2008 11:43

VG and Libbysister It is size of the cerebral ventricles (in the brain) - they are at the upper end of normal. No idea what it means if they get 'too' big so I'm just hoping they don't. Dh thinks the sonographer is just being cautious. I think tbh that he is probably right as I won't be going back until I'm 25 weeks - and she did say not to worry. I was so hoping to feel complete reassurance though -it is a bit disappointing. Still if something is wrong they can do amazing things now even while the lo is still in the womb. But just hoping everything is ok.

VG Constipation - eat prunes and drink more water. You could go to a big branch of Boots and get some Fybogel (drink with fibre in it) or similar. Or I had lactulose after giving birth first time (fluid sugar basically and helps draw water into stools so they pass more easily). I'm sure you can buy that over the counter although I got mine from the midwife. Really no need to feel embarassed it is so common! NB Pregnacare has iron in it (obv) which has a tendency to bung you up

CaptainCaveman · 15/04/2008 11:45

hah, part-timer dizzy person

I think I've gained around 16lbs so far - although this is a guess based on last weigh in....

Also, I managed to iron my stomach this morning . Was ironing my top for work (with no top on, obviously) and caught my bump with the edge of the iron. Ouch. Big burn across my belly now. Luckily I had gp appt today anyway so I've shown her and she thinks its ok. As my colleague pointed out - there must be easier ways to get rid of stretchmarks rather than resorting to ironing them out!! For the record - I don't have stretchmarks (yet)!

congrats on scan news petit!! Yay!!

VintageGardenia · 15/04/2008 11:53

pf I'm sure if they had a real concern they'd be getting you back before 25 weeks. The nuisance is when they don't tell you enough at the time - you are too stressed by being there to remember to ask questions - then on the way home all your queries come flooding into your head. Well that's what happens to me anyway.

Re. the ahem, I will try the old prunes and buckets more water, if no luck will try fybogel. How the f. do you get prunes into your diet - chopped up on my Special K perhaps. Or one of those Jamaican fruit salads with apricots and coconut and bananas and - oops - rum.

CC an iron burn yuck! They are bad enough on the hand or arm, on the bump must be nasty! I have no new stretchmarks yet but have been working the bump with BioOil frantically hoping to heal my existing ones and prevent new ones at same time. So far as I remember last time they came in the last month for me. Boo hoo!
