OK, off to watch 24 on dvd before I get too tired and go to bed instead! Also have ice cream to eat......

Sweet dreams ladies, catch you tomorrow x

dizzydixies · 15/04/2008 21:01

CC did you get the new house, re forgetting to ask.

Buckets · 15/04/2008 21:52

CC I've actually ironed my tummy before when not pg - that's my excuse for DH doing all the ironing in our house.

No point me sharing names until we have something we agree on. Kurt is still the default back-up plan B but will I have to spend our lives explaining that yes it is a proper name, not just a kreatively-spelled nickname for Curtis (ie the feedback I've had on baby name boards)? Well actually it's originally a nn for Konrad but goes so far back it's like Jack and John .

TS your dd sounds so cute (from a safe distance LOL)

dizzydixies · 15/04/2008 22:03

buckets I know both a Conrad and a Curtis
why would people think that Kurt isn't a real name? muppets

HazieAndBaby · 15/04/2008 22:08

Hey girls,

Have been lurking around for a few days, trying to catch up to be honest, but my attention span isn?t really up to much at the moment! Oh, the catching up has been in between spying on our new neighbours! DH has stopped me just going up to their door to introduce myself a few times, so have taken to peeking through the blinds!

Totally irrelevant thing here, but I was so chuffed I needed to share it! My friend?s mum came into the office today and told me that I had a really neat bump and that she couldn?t believe that I still had the shape of a waist! I could?ve kissed her! Even my own mum and MIL haven?t said anything anywhere near that nice. And I?ve decided that even if she was lying, I don?t care!

On the ?OMG I?m having a baby? front, it hit me the other night when I was sitting watching tv by myself and DH was out. I suddenly thought, ?I?m not going to be all by myself for ages again after August!? I did some deep breathing and then felt okay!

You?re doing us all proud with your list skills TS! How are you managing that with all your other running around? Hope minisurfer is feeling loads better.

CC your MIL would totally love me! Currently the taxpayers are keeping my whole company afloat , so will not only be providing my maternity pay, but also my regular salary too - oopsie!! Oh, and not so good on the burning yourself front ? ouch! Someone told me that?s the most common injury in pregnant women. Good enough reason to stay away from the ironing if you ask me!

I?ll try and keep dizzy off your backs girls by sharing my names with her! Run away whilst she's occupied petitfilou! What do you think of Cole for a boy and Gabriella for a girl? We have no middle names thought out yet so feel free to suggest a couple dizzy. Our surname starts with an ?H? and rhymes with pulse, just to help you out!

I?m knackered after my mammoth task of catching up and massive post, so am now off to bed! Catch you later! xxxx

Buckets · 16/04/2008 09:28

Hi Hazie, new name?
Next time you spy them out front run out oh-so-casually (put something in the wheelie bin?) and say hi. I caught my neighbour craning her neck to look in our front window the first time so I grinned and popped out to say hello. Our other neighbour house has been empty for years, makes me so angry as I've met the owners and they have deluded themselves into thinking they are doing it up when it's actually falling to pieces and the tree roots are probably going to make my house subside. Still, it's nice and quiet though.

cyteen · 16/04/2008 09:45

Hello all

CC am a bit at your ironing burn. See, this is the reason I shun all ironing - it's just too dangerous!

On the weight gain front, I'm not sure how I'm doing as I never weigh myself usually anyway. I think I was about 9.5-10 stone before; when I weighed myself on MIL's scales a few days ago I was 10.5, which is not too shameful at all. It can't continue like this though, not with the the uncontrollable Cadbury's Caramel addiction I've developed

The hormones are pretty crazy too...for example I am currently sitting in front of VH1 weeping at a Coldplay song. It's probably good for me being able to cry so easily, I'm not very good at it usually and I still have an awful lot of crying to do over my brother.

So, less emotional constipation is good, but sadly the physical stuff is still killing me. Think I might need to go down the prunes route - I already drink loads of water, eat loads of fruit and higih-fibre foodstuffs, but nothing is working for me at the moment. Had a horrible toilet visit last night

We're so looking forward to the scan on Friday morning, but obviously cacking it as well the closer it gets - I'm already obsessing about movement (is it moving less? More? Why so strong sometimes and not others? Has it turned round or is it in distress? OH GOD WHY CAN'T I JUST SHUT MY BRAIN UP AAARRRGH).

CaptainCaveman · 16/04/2008 12:47

Dizzy re house - we haven't sold ours yet, so although we have offered on this other place it is still on the market until we sell ours. Also, with house prices coming down (we just reduced ours by 5K), we will want to offer less than we originally planned a couple of months ago.

Hazie - just pop round and say hello! And what a nice thing for your mums friend to say, can you send her round to me for a nice comment too?

After yesterdays euphoria I am feeling a little flat today. Tired after a relatively rubbish nights sleep last night and work is a bit doom and gloom today. Only 14 more weeks then I'm out of here for 9 months! Ho hum.

Good for you crying Cyteen - does you the world of good. I did some good sobbing last Friday and felt much better for it

Quiet on here today.....

TwilightSurfer · 16/04/2008 12:54

Morning
Today's forcast is excellent. Sunshine and 70!! Guess I'll be sporting the swimsuit and playing in the yard later. DD is playing hooky for one more day. We both still have bronchial type coughs....maybe the sunshine can fix them.

Cyteen I'm still worrying over movement too. The baby's in the oddest position right now so I can't tell whether I'm being hit or kicked. And so much of the movement is down in the nether-regions that it bothers me...feel like she needs to get herself up out of there.

Will pop in and out throughout the day.
Have a good one.

longwayfromhome · 16/04/2008 13:09

Sorry, back onto the topic of weight gain. I have been wondering for a while whether I could weigh my boobs on the kitchen scales to see how much of my weight gain could be attributable to this source, but I'm not quite sure that I can think of a way to make this work.

The fridge has come back after having a 2 week holiday back in the factory, which is nice, and the weather is still nice and cool at the moment. Otherwise, not much news from here.

Oh yes, and about sleep. I'm sleeping really badly as well. I always used to be able to sleep, but then got married and pregnant within a few months and still not really sleeping brilliantly ... I'm sure that a baby will improve the situation no end.

PetitFilou1 · 16/04/2008 14:06

Longwayfromhome lol at you weighing your boobs

CC Hope the burn is mending (aloe vera gel very good - get the 99% stuff from Holland and Barrett)

cyteen · 16/04/2008 14:08

lol TS - your little one is obviously eager to get out and see the world! Think mine has been lurking in the nether regions too, I was feeling some bizarre movements near the join between legs and torso last night.

It's so cold and miserable again today, it's not really inspiring me to do anything useful [shamefaced]. Got an essay about Pepys to write and a patch of dried cat sick to clear up...what joy.

PetitFilou1 · 16/04/2008 14:09

Ps Twilightsurfer It is GOOD that you are feeling movements in your nether regions as probably means the baby is head down in the right position (so I was told yesterday by the midwife) She is basically butting you or punching you in the bladder .... this explained to me why sometimes I feel a very sudden need to go to the loo!

cheerfulvicky · 16/04/2008 14:13

I love the thought of weighing the boobs, will have to try that...

Last night DP helpfully pointed out how little the baby weighs compared to the pounds I've gained already. Thanks, love! I found myself defensively pointing out about things like amniotic fluid and boob weight and, err... extra fat.
Seriously, I've always wanted kids, but I'm ashamed to admit I had no idea about the weight gain side of things during pregnancy. I've been flipping through baby books for years on and off, but it never crossed my mind. Turns out that the things I'm unprepared for are the ones that bother me; I secretly can't wait to get my body back to myself after my lovely boy is born, even though I also love being pregnant. Weird, eh?
Wow, that was a ramble and a half! lol. Hope you are all doing good.

(TS I'm so envious of your weather!)

TwilightSurfer · 16/04/2008 15:43

Cheerfulvicky during my first pregnancy I was a bit concerned about ever seeing my old body again. Just after giving birth I tossed out all my pre-pregnancy pants. I didn't want the personal pressure of ever trying to fit in them again. Within a month my physical appearance was more like my old body...when dressed. It took about six months to gain my stomach back. All this WITHOUT any type of exercise program. The one thing that I did notice was that my body took on a different shape, suddenly I had hips. At first it bothered me because the size I was before the pregnancy wasn't the size I was after BUT in no way did it look bad...it actually made me look better, more womanly. My advice is to focus on other things until six months after birth. If you aren't heading in the bodily direction you want by then find an exercise program that will inspire you.

SUNS SO BRIGHT!! DD and I are cleaning up the house a bit. Spring Cleaning YEAH!! I prefer to earn my afternoon sunbathing time the old fashioned way.

Petitfilou....REALLY....baby's in the correct position. Then I'll relax a bit. Just feels weird with her trying to reach through my skin to grab my lady garden. {{Twilight slips away in total embarrassement.}}

Buckets · 16/04/2008 15:49

CV, I couldn't wait to get my body back with my 2. It's taken me to number 3 to face trying breastfeeding again (lasted a week), but even then my motivation is convenience rather than the alleged 'joy of being so connected to your baby' blah blah blah.

I've just worked out that I have only 16wks to go before I meet my new DS! Seeing as I'm 23wks pg and planning a section that is.

Me and DCs have not left the house today despite glorious sunshine, feel so physically tired in my joints and muscles even going upstairs is an effort.

cyteen · 16/04/2008 17:38

I have given in and bought some prunes

miamla · 16/04/2008 17:48

TS and petitfilou...i'm getting the same sensations "down below" as you! i'm so pleased i'm not alone! and to hear that baby's in the correct position is even better!

VG, there's an envelope in the post for you

alittlebitshy · 16/04/2008 19:43

Yup I'm another one having those se3nsations down below. Half expect a foot to appear one day .

Got icky heartburn on top of the nausea. This evening I'm telling myself that mars ice creams willl help the heratburn cos they're predominantly dairy right? and milk can help heartburn.. so.....

IlanaK · 16/04/2008 19:53

Sorry, not been on for a while. Having a down day today - reall lethargic and negative. Not sure why - hoping it is just hormones. 25+3 today. Bored of being pregnant now and just want to have the baby. (my eldest gets annoyed when I call it the baby instead of Saul!). Lots of movement here too - all over the place. I also get weird feelings sometimes when it feels like the baby may be turning around or pressing down without actually kicking iyswim.

VintageGardenia · 16/04/2008 19:55

Ladies of the thread, good evening!

I am getting movements very low as well, and it was just lovely after supper this evening when DS was able to feel a movement with his hand for the first time! He was nervous about doing it at first because he thought he was going to hurt the baby but he was pleased to feel three or four good sharp prods. I do think the baby responds to his voice, s/he always seems to wake up when DS is around and especially when I have just picked him up from school.

TS I think that's sound advice about giving your body six months, and if it's not doing what you want, revert to strict ex. programme, but don't get overly stressed by it till then. Your body does change, your hips widen, your boobs change shape, so even if you're not back in your skinny jeans etc it doesn't necessarily mean you have weight to lose, just that you now have a wider pelvis. But then TS you do seem to be a slimjim, I'm a bit squishier I think.

cyteen welcome to prunesville

Miamla you are a sweetheart!

Hazie (which I just mistyped Dazie!!) I love Gabriella, it is so pretty and I know a lovely one (grown-up) who is pretty and elegant and dainty (unlike me!) and a lovely mother.

"Buckets" I don't think people will think you are being kreative with Kurt - Kurt Weill, Kurt Vonnegut, Kurt Geiger shoes - it's absolutely legit, it certainly wouldn't occur to me that it was makey-uppy.

Between Kurt (Weill) and Cole (Porter) we've got a very cool forties music theme going on on the thread, which I am VERY happy to endorse.

VintageGardenia · 16/04/2008 19:55

longwayfromhome personally I would love to chop my boobs off at this stage. Freedom!

VintageGardenia · 16/04/2008 19:56

Me: 25 weeks zackly.

PetitFilou1 · 16/04/2008 20:38

Right all you lot whose lo's are kicking/headbutting them in the lady garden area - if your baby's are not cephalic at your next midwife appointment you can all feel free to come and give me a virtual slap (but that is what baby ds is and that is what he is doing!)

VG Six months was never enough time for me -weight only dropped off when I stopped b/f (but for others it is the other way round - weirdly). Btw you are sounding very glam with your 40s name and your 40s red fingernails.

Just eating a chickpea, garlic, spinach and chilli stew with garlic bread - if any of you who are bunged up want this recipe I guarantee it will get you results! I love spicy food...

PetitFilou1 · 16/04/2008 20:41

Ps Hazie I really like Gabriella. My friend has a lo called that so I could never have used it - lucky there is a ds in there really

and cheer up Ilana
