Evening all. Ummm, I hate to say this but my update seems to have fallen off the 'most up to date' list again... Feel a bit of a bore going on about it but frankly I am just too anal to let it be wrong! Please forgive a slightly crazy pregnant lady... I have spent all day shelving books (we have finally got bookshelves after living in this house over two years) so my obsessive ordering tendencies are in full flow. ALBS I'm with you on the preparation for the baby front. But then I am a bit preoccupied with doing up the new house at the moment. Dh is trying to restrain my urge to go mad on interior design frippery stuff when there is more basic stuff - like painting and carpets - to sort out first. He is succeeding sadly but I'll get there in the end!

dizzy No I can't see my toes and I know this because I held dd up to have a wee in the park the other day and she weed all over my boots (suede ones) because I couldn't see them at the time

Right, ds finally in bed at ridiculously late hour, but then thats what happens when he has a sleep late during the day!

MIL in fine form, not offensive, just pleasantly living on her own planet. She is quite shocked that public service employees get maternity pay from the government. That's tax payers money you know!! In her day (she told me) you left work to have the baby and that was it, you never went back. I'm not quite sure which decade she is stuck in but it seems quite a pleasant little world.

TS I hope dd is soon spot free and over her illnesses. How are you doing coping with it all?

Dizzy, don't work too hard!!

ALBS - re schools - they have admission criteria in Notts. Although we are in the catchment area for the school we preferred, it is a large catchment with only 30 infant places. As it is a church-controlled school the catchments are the 2 local CofE parishes. The vast majority of the kids who go there will not be from families who follow a faith of any kind BUT maybe some of the Christian message will sink in through their schooling, so who am I to deny them a place in favour of ds who gets to go to church every week?! I trust that God has it all in hand.

Ds felt Mr Sweetheart kicking yesterday, so he has now changed his name to Mr Kicky. I suggested he might need a proper name for when he's born and ds came up with Lovelyboy. Can you imagine my 16 year old 'lovelyboy'??

Oh forgot to add - have appt in the morning with the Perinatal Psychiatric team. If I don't post tomorrow it's coz they locked me up and threw away the key. I'll just tell them to look at this thread for other guilty parties.....
On a serious note, am sure it will be fine. I'm feeling well but want to know what they will do about me stopping citalopram so I can breastfeed. My main worry is how quickly I became unwell in my last pg. Literally within 2 days I went from feeling a bit anxious to being a shivering jelly wreck, incapable of positive thought. It was bloody horrible!! I honestly thought they would lock me up and take ds away (lost the power of rational thought too it seems!!). The nice psych I saw reassured me I wasn't going mad - evident by the fact that I thought I was going mad...!! Most mad people don't know they're mad apparently.

Morning everyone!

Cheerful vicky you made me smile with the huffing and puffing comment. My DS has started to say 'OOOooooffff' when he gets off the sofa because he's copying me!

Hen weekend was LOADS better than I imagined, very chilled, very easy going about who was doing what and when. Myself and another Cinderella came home at midnight and left the others to the club. And then I slept in until 10 am. Bliss

Back to it now. I have an ALL DAY meeting today. Booo. I work as an editor, arranging the proofing, typesetting and printing of an academic journal. Thrills

sorry not been on for awhile, been one of them years so far. Going away on honeymoon on friday, without the children for 11days, now thats what i call heaven!

I will update the list but am having a girl! yay i can finally stop.

Hope everyone is blooming and that all that sickness has stopped. i'm still on course for my homebirth but apparently have alot of water, people keep asking when i'm due and being shocked when i say august, they think it's may!!

CC Your mil would be pleased to know then that I have had maternity pay from the government on two occasions and this will make it three! What world does she live in?! Yes it may be taxpayers money but it encourages us to go back to work, pay taxes, support the economy, pay the pensions of those with state pensions, give our sons and daughters the model that as a woman you can work and be a mum (if you want to), and maintain our sanity (that last one is a personal one!) Of course I LOVE my mil

Before I go and turn into the personal chef to a 4 year old..........

Captain, I'm a bit worried too about my sanity level since mine dipped after DD was born. No time for craziness with this birth. I'll have my emergency supply of Xanax but I'm pretty sure it's a BF no-no too. BF or Sanity..... Can you guess which I'm going to choose if a choice is required?

We took DD to pediatric emergency room last night because of a wacked out on-call nurse. Long story short, the nurse didn't want to LISTEN to me and took what I said and twisted it all around then came up with this off the wall diagnosis. She then sort of cornered me by saying "I AM DOCUMENTING THAT I INSTRUCTED YOU TO TAKE HER TO ER." Even though I was quite positive she was off her rocker, I didn't want to wind up appearing neglectful if she was correct. ER doc took one look at DD and said, "She's fine." GEEEZZZ!!! I'm wondering what it takes to be on the On-Call staff....at one point the lady said, "I just googled that and..." WTF, I can google and come up with scary shit too!! {{BREATH}} At least now I feel very confident in the care I've been giving my little one....I really should have been a doctor, honestly. Is 37 too old to begin med school????

Oh....pancakes....DD just reminded me. BRB

Well they aren't going to lock me up!! Saw a lovely female doctor who suggested I switch from Citalopram to another drug which I've already forgotten the name off. No need to do without drugs - and you can bf with this drug too (I took it after I'd had ds). She is going to see me again in 10 weeks but says to ring and go back sooner if needed. I feel really well but am so glad to know I'm in safe hands.

cheerfulvicky, it's been a long time since I got up or sat down without vocal assistance

Well impressed at the varied careers of all our August ladies! Sadly I've never had a job I've given two shits about so can't really relate to having worries about what will happen to my career after the baby's born. Through various circumstances I've always ended up just taking the first shit job that came along and underachieving, leaving me frustrated yet powerless as even at age 32 I still have no idea what I want to do for a living apart from write books.

At the moment I work as a research assistant for a charity/NGO type thing; it's alright, but the week before I started was the week we found out my brother's cancer was terminal, and the whole of last year was dominated by his death and my having time off/going part time to pursue my studies, so I've never really been able to bring myself to care too much about what I'm working on. To be honest I can't wait to go on maternity leave - I won't miss work in the slightest.

Well, we are back at home after our housesitting holiday for the inlaws - Leicester is grey and rainy and the whole house smells of sick thanks to our idiot cats They seem pleased to see us though, the silly things

I've been feeling some very strong movements in my belly over the last few days - I think they're getting into a pattern - first thing when I wake up, then around 4pm, then last thing at night. Haven't managed to catch DP with it yet though, he's always elsewhere. I'll get him soon

We're still a big zero on the preparation front, but have got our anomaly scan this Friday so will start sorting our lives out once we know (fingers crossed) that things are okay. Going to be moving house at the end of May which I am really looking forward to.

Oh, wanted to give Buckets some holiday camp sympathy (((Buckets))) We went to a Pontins in Norfolk for a crazy rave weekender last March and the place was so dismal, it was like staying in a Romanian orphanage. Had loads of fun due to the music and friends, but seriously could not believe people would go on holiday there - I've never been somewhere so bleak.

cyteen Was that Pontins in Lowestoft by any chance? We were there 2 weeks ago for a retreat/conference thing (ie it was hired out rather than run as Pontins) but I cannot see what would induce anyone to PAY to stay there. The Chalets were dire.....

LOL, I think the appeal for many is being able to take your kids to a gigantic bar for hours and hours under the pretext of there being entertainment in the room .
Having said that, if I wasn't pg DH & I would have probably had a whale of a time playing cards and getting drunk in our appartment so maybe it was just sour grapes on my part .
Plus, we're still experimenting with what kind of holiday is do-able with DS and his possibly-autistic ways so it was good experience from that point of view. We still tend to delude ourselves about expected fun/relaxation/holiday levels that adults actually get when you have a) kids and b) a Noah. Oh basically we just don't know how to enjoy ourselves LOL .

buckets... i went on a similar holiday but the difference being that there was a fair amount of wine involved with mine!* trust me, it helped enourmously!

*i wasn't pregnant at the time before the pregnancy police start hunting me down!
