sagitta · 09/04/2008 12:35

Aaah, thanks. So chips are out then...(def don't want a fat baby - at least not before its born )

bashboid · 09/04/2008 12:35

Don't post often but have been trying to keep up with all your news (very difficult as you all chat so much ).
Congrats to Sheds and BR and everyone else who's already had their little ones. Glad Sebastian is ok now Peachy, that must have been scary.
Well, due date is today and after lots of aches and periody pains the last couple of days, absolutely nothing going on so far today. We always thought he would be a few days late though so trying desperately not to get too impatient until at least the weekend.
Good vibes to VS, Scorpio and all others wanting their LOs out sooner rather than later!

sagitta · 09/04/2008 12:37

By the way, P&L, haven't you had a baby recently? And here you are being perfectly normal on MN? No tears, gnashing of teeth, complaints about DP, lack of sleep, colic...
There's hope for us yet!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 09/04/2008 12:52

Congrats to Sheds and BR! Such great news!

Sorry you LO has been poorly Peachy - sonds like he is on the mend now though - so that's good!

As for me - well I think I had contractions from 4pm - 11pm last night. Belly was very sore and tight, as was back, and it seemed continuous until I started concentrating on what was going on then it seemed like the pain and tightness was coming in waves. FRIGGEN sore! And my belly got so tight that the top stuck out like a ridge or somthing. Anyway it gave me a good chance to practice my hypnobirthing breathing which really helped. So there we go - I am still here thankfully - really don't want baby coming at 37 weeks!

sagitta · 09/04/2008 13:06

Glad to hear you're OK, mum2be. Apparently babies are already baked at 37 weeks, though, so it would have been OK for LO - if a bit early for you!

Carey87 · 09/04/2008 13:26

Congrats to Sheds and BR!! fantastic news!

just been for a lovely long walk in the sunshine, im in a such a good mood today! it would be lovely if lo came today but I really dont think that it will now, not for at least another few weeks

bunnyrabbit · 09/04/2008 13:28

Hiyah.. just checking in with a few more details.

Alasdair was born at home at 11.47pm last night. Waters broke at 4.20pm and contractions started gently but soon picked up. Midwives arrive about 6, put my TENS on and at 8 I was only 2cm but fully effaced. MW had to pull my cervix round as it had nearly disappeared, (which is what I think happened last time, which is why I had such a horrible time of it and an epidural in the end). Contraction were all over the place. Decded not to use gas and air as I think it made me sick last time. Midwive's changed over and new MW said she would check at 12. Contractions every 2 mins for 1 min so she agreed to check at 10. Good thing too as I was 8 cm.... moved into lots of diffeent positions and ended up on my side pushing from about 11.20. DS2 born at 11.47

That's it!!

Can't believe I didn't have drugs. Felt such a whimp I was sure I'd give in, but DH was absolutely bloody fantastic. Followed me from spare room to bathroom and back and lay on bed with me holding my hand and giving mucho encouragement. Couldn't have done it without him.

I think people know I have a BF issue from last time so am ecstatic that DS2 fed on and off until 4.15 am and is still asleep!

Anyway, sorry for the long post, and not reading everyone elses news.

BR

sagitta · 09/04/2008 13:34

Congratulations BR! I am so glad you had your home birth, that DH was so good and that BFing is going well.
Welcome to Alasdair!

ToastAddict · 09/04/2008 13:39

Oh that's lovely BR, sounds perfect - congrats
and congrats too to Sheds
Peachy - really sounds like you've been through it, glad it sounds like a bit of a false alarm

Chatting to a girl at aquanatal this morning and I think I am starting to get carpal tunnel syndrome - fingers keep getting really numb. Hope it goes once lo is out!!

VictorianSqualor · 09/04/2008 13:40

BR, I was wrong with the day but didn't I say it would start in the afternoon?

honeybee10 · 09/04/2008 13:46

Hi just to let you all know following sweep on Monday afternoon at 37 +2 days because of concerns about baby's growth, James Samuel born at 3.24am on Tuesday morning. After worrying us to death saying he was under 5lb he turns out to be 6lb 7oz!!
Had to make a decision about whether the niggly pains I was having were the real thing as I needed to drop DD and DS off at mums. Went into hospital at 9pm. Had to have an hour of CTG monitoring which was hard as I wanted to be upright and was desparate to get off the bed. Used the birthing ball for most of the time or stood. Wanted to just have gas and air so was trying to 'save it for when things got worse'! Started to use G&A at 02.00.
Examined at 03.15 and was still only 6cm so midwife broke my waters. Went with a big gush and managed to wet the midwifes trousers!!!
She went to get changed and came back and I needed to push,James born few minutes later!! Back home 6 hours post delivery in time for DD &DS coming home from school!!

Congrats honeybee!
Another boy!!

scorpio1 · 09/04/2008 13:50

Congrats My ds1 was 6lb 11oz, felt really small Lovely name.

bunnyrabbit · 09/04/2008 13:52

Congrats HB and bloody well done with the G&S.

VS, I bow to your foresight!!!

However, you could have warned me it would hurt a bit! DH says I made the strangest animal noises he's ever heard

BR

scorpio1 · 09/04/2008 13:52

DH keeps ringing me... 'how are you feeling now'. Every day about 5 times and as soon as he gets in, lol.

Carey87 · 09/04/2008 13:53

bugger me! all this baby's coming out!!!

Congrats honeybee!!

Carey87 · 09/04/2008 13:54

scorpio - mine has completely disapeared off radar, think he's playing footie during his lunch break, he rang me more when I was at work

Carey87 · 09/04/2008 13:55

bugger me! all these baby's coming out!!!

Congrats honeybee!!

honeybee10 · 09/04/2008 13:57

I can't stop looking at him he is so gorgeous and felt like I had the best birth ever. 6 hours from start to finish with just gas and air, no stitches. The midwives were fantastic and made me feel like the only woman on delivery suite (which I wasn't). Home 6 hours later. How much better a hospital birth can you get!!?
Feel like I've won the lottery! A very tired lottery winner.....

Scampmum · 09/04/2008 14:09

Congrats BR and Honeybee - massive well done to you both!

Nothing going on here - just SHATTERED. Really need to believe that baby and toddler will be easier than pregnant and toddler!

ToastAddict · 09/04/2008 14:11

Congrats Honeybee
Everyone is so speedy!!!

sagitta · 09/04/2008 14:18

Congrats honeybee! sounds like the perfect birth!

Scampmum - I really need to believe that too...

scorpio1 · 09/04/2008 14:25

Baby and toddler is ok, can be hard sometimes but mostly ok

chipmonkey · 09/04/2008 14:34

Congrats Honeybee!!!!!!!!!!!

PAL! In Ireland the NCT is the National Car Test. I think you must have something similar in the UK, MOT perhaps?
