pmsl at the 'what the hell have you done'... smapmum, ds3 has had a face full of stitches all week- I was 6so^ hglad it happened at school and not here!

moominsmummy · 19/04/2008 15:43

LOL at Scampmum's DD

When I was 9 months i crawled down some steps and bashed up my face - my older brother kept telling people "Daddy threw her out of the window!"

OP posts:
EllieG · 19/04/2008 16:12

Wey-hey! I went away for a day and came back to TWO babies! Loads of congrats scorpio and paranoidmummy

Big congrats on the bf scorpio too, I know that you were a bit worried about it.

I still haven't had mine. But never mind.

How's everyone else doing?

EllieG · 19/04/2008 16:14

You can pass some of that cake this way moomin x

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 16:18

Obviously I am now dooming this to be nothing, but... we just had sex and then BAM! big painful contraction. Now feeling excited, shaky and sick. EEEK!

Does anyone know anyone whose brother/sister has the same birthday as them and do they mind?

Denny185 · 19/04/2008 16:18

Any cake would be welcome here as well, DH cooking curry for tea tonight

EllieG · 19/04/2008 16:21

Cor scamp you might be next! [very excited emoticon!]

KnitterInTheNW · 19/04/2008 16:43

Scampmum, I don't know anyone who had a sibling born on their birthday, but if you think how many sets of twins there are in the world, they all share a birthday! (with their twin, obviously, not with all the other twins...)

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 16:46

Hmm, I think I have jinxed it. Had another one but now 20 mins since that one . All very exciting, though!

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 17:27

Have definitely jinxed it. Next time not talking until it's established! Told DH it was a false alarm and he said 'yes, I thought so' - why are men SO ANNOYING?

PortAndLemon · 19/04/2008 17:38

I had a few contractions around this time the afternoon before I went into labour, if that's any help...

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 18:02

yes, thanks! It is weird. I am still having them, they're just really not very painful, but not Braxton Hicks either. Maybe it's just the Scamp 'so-rock-hard-I-don't-wince-getting-my-armpits-waxed' Mum factor...

am using the contraction timer at DH's request anyway. Last one was 24 seconds but really not that painful. I think I'm a bit thrown by the fact that my last labour seemed to establish really quickly (although I can't find the book I wrote it in, I found a DH response to an email 2 hours after first ctx saying 'every 15 mins for 10-40 seconds) and I'm already nearly two hours after the first one and they're nothing like that regular, or painful.

Will keep you all posted, anyway! May get boring after a few days...

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 18:03

oh and thinking about it would be best if we could get DD to bed before thinking about going to hospital so it is definitely better that they don't establish really certainly yet!

chipmonkey · 19/04/2008 19:05

Congratulations scorpio!! And well done on the bf! Proud of you!

Baaaaarging in to say GOODLUCKPIXIE(and all of you girls!) because I don't want to ring you up and say 'HAVE YOU HAD IT YET?' because it might piss you off!!

moominsmummy · 20/04/2008 08:14

Morning all - have had back ache all yesterday evening and this morning - taken some paracetemol and had hot water bottle on - don't know if it's just cos baby is back to back - could it be more? (never got started by myself last time so no idea what to expect!)

having BH every 15 mins or so (nothing unusual there) but they are not painful - it's the bloody back ache!! argghhhhhhh!

OP posts:
Denny185 · 20/04/2008 09:31

Labour can start as back pain but if you can get in a position that will ease it prob not. If its LO sitting back to back try getting onto hands and knees/leaning on ball to try and shift its weight forward and off your back.

christmaspixie · 20/04/2008 09:32

Morning everyone!! Oooh I wonder if Scamp has had her baby!??!! And Moomin, backache can be a sign of early labour, esp if baby is back to back.

Boo HOO!!! You lot are all queue jumping! I was due 2 days ago (stamps foot) it's NOT FAIR!!! (Goes to sit in wating corner with Ellie and Northeastmummy).

Denny185 · 20/04/2008 09:36

But at least you know it will be a nice patient LO when it does come into the world

moominsmummy · 20/04/2008 09:42

sorry xmaspixie - I was 2 weeks over last time and remember how it felt to be the last pregnant person on the planet - likelihood this is a false start and i'll still be here in 3 weeks time

Denny - have been on birthing ball and all fours for days and the little tike still hasn't shifted. MW says with 2nd babies they can easily turn during labour anyway? (altho not making my back ache any better just now)

Would a TENS machine help at all do you think? have already packed the car and it's near the bottom but would rather get it out now than endure this backache for a 3 hr journey...

OP posts:
Denny185 · 20/04/2008 09:46

Yes dig the tens out you can use it on its continual settings to help and just use the boost if back pain increases with BH/Cx. I had back to back labour with DS and found the tens really helpful for the back pain. If youve got a 3 hour journey can you take heat pack in with you and some paracteamol as well?

At 5.50 this am scamp was still in labour and posting on childbirth thread, we wait eagerly..............

munchkinmum · 20/04/2008 10:14

Hi

We now have 2 munchkins residing in our household!

Cameron was born at 5.22pm pm friday afternoon. Was very painful in the later stages but I got what I always wanted, a fabulous midwife and a go in the pool for my much wanted water birth. Second stage of labour was only 7 minutes long and was the most overwhelming experience ever!

Having a tough time with bf'ing but I'm bloody determined to do it this time so fingers crossed and lansinoh at the ready!

Hi to all on the thread!

VictorianSqualor · 20/04/2008 10:59

Congrats munchkinmum and welcome to Cameron
We need his weight!
(and a birth story but I'll give you a day or two to write that up)

MW has just been and Alex has lost 600g/21 ounces
If I didnt know he was thriving I'd be worried sick, thankfully he has plenty of dirty/wet nappies, is feeding brilliantly and is really happy and alert when not feeding so I know it's not an issue, also mw isnt one of those Evil Health Visitor types so she agreed with me.
