Eeeeww to night sweats! Right I'm off out to float around in the pool. See ya later!

Scampmum · 08/04/2008 13:33

And again Scorpio, might be worth giving the MW a call as I know swollen face/hands/feet can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. If you're weighing yourself regularly then sudden weight gain (as Peachy can attest from an earlier post) can also be a sign. Just being extra-cautious!

Molly, my figure changed post-DD in that my legs and bum were actually skinnier than before - had always been my least favourite part of my body (...and are again now...). Thought it was because I did less cycling/running but I started cycling again (though on a bike with much smaller wheels/more efficient gearing, one of those v. sexy folding ones!) and they stayed slim. Was brilliant. May be related to not going back on the pill? I think it's pretty much idiosyncratic, though - have known people lose the weight really easily and others have real trouble. At the end of the day, it's not worth worrying about. You probably won't have time to brush your hair or clean your teeth anyway so no-one will notice a few extra pounds!

scorpio1 · 08/04/2008 13:34

I know its not that, i was very upset last night and am all swollen from that. MW appt tomorrow.

Scampmum · 08/04/2008 13:40

Oh good! Are you OK now? I am an emotional rollercoaster at the mo. Grumpy as anything one minute and huffing and puffing at DH for stirring soup (cooking me dinner!) and putting the dirty spoon on the surface, then welling up in pride at bearing his children the next . Can barely watch TV because everything makes me cry. I cried (I kid you not) when Disco 2000 by Pulp came on the radio the other day. Can you think of a less sad song? Also seem to be venting most of my irrational anger on my parents and can't speak to either without being horrible to them. Hormones, gotta love 'em.

(You've also had a really tricky time lately, though, so of course you're going to get upset! I, on the other hand, have no excuse...)

Scampmum · 08/04/2008 13:41

and VS, off to try your brilliant anti-heartburn medication right this minute!

ToastAddict · 08/04/2008 14:03

Scamp - Disco 2000 is very sad - he never knew that she'd get married and he would be living on his own...... enough to make any girl blub.
We recorded the English Patient the other day, have cried every time I've seen it, definitely not brave enough to watch it atm. Seem to cry at every episode of Grey's Anatomy right now

Has anyone seen Peachy anywhere? Just figuring, she is understandably going to be busy atm, so may not be picking up/posting texts......

PortAndLemon · 08/04/2008 14:36

I'm normally size 16. Put on about 20lb altogether, not sure how much I've lost so far (no time to weigh self)but I was back in my pre-pregnancy fat trousers within a week (don't have the nerve to try non-fat trousers yet... will judge based on how much room I have in fat trousers before attempting it). I want to get back down to a size 12 (which is where I really ought to be) over the next 9 months or so.

My feet never went back to their original size post-DS, and I'm not sure that my ribcage ever did either.

Went out for lunch with DH and it was very odd having the whole menu to choose from - I'm so used to looking down a menu and thinking "Can't have that because I'm pregnant... Can't have ^that because of the GD..." that I was overwhelmed by confusion and indecisiveness...

sagitta · 08/04/2008 14:39

Oh, P&L, it must be lovely not to have GD any more!

EllieG · 08/04/2008 14:40

scorpio hon - is everything OK? Is it hormonal upset or has something happened to make you unhappy. Tell me to bugger off if don't want to say and none of my business x

LOL at scamp and her photofit body post birth

My friend had twins and she lost the weight apart from the last half stone really quickly, but she said her body shape took a long time to get back to normal. And she said her ribs took quite a while to shrink back to normal size. My bra size has gone up from a 34 to a 40 so am not expecting to be back in my tighter tops any time soon!

EllieG · 08/04/2008 14:41

Does GD just disappear after birth then? Cool!

Scampmum · 08/04/2008 14:52

Toast - . As soon as I typed that, I thought "well, maybe 'itsy bitsy teeny weeny' has a touch less emotional depth to it..."

P&L, was just thinking about you in the car

sagitta · 08/04/2008 15:19

Scamp - if you're anything like me you and DD will look at each other and bargain over things to play with eg DD - can you pick me up and dance round the room? Me: No. Telly?
DD: no, puzzle? Me: OK, if you go and get it. DD: no, mummy get it.

and so on ad infinitum...

Soph73 · 08/04/2008 15:37

Congrats Sal, Denny & micegg (sorry if I´ve missed anyone). Denny your lo is gorgeous - I want to see mine now The weather´s warmed up here so my ankles are all swollen & I can´t get comfy for love nor money and apparently I´ve got until the 2nd May to go - boo hoo!

scorpio1 · 08/04/2008 15:46

Ellie - I'm ok, just me and DH had a misunderstanding that me being nearly 40 weeks pg didn't really understand or react to properly iyswim. All is fixed.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 08/04/2008 15:48

Hi everyone! I finally had a show this afternoon. Good to know that something is indicating at least a little progress!

Just dropped dd at a friend's house for a play date so now have a little time to myself - to finish my tax (waaaay overdue I know) but I have been suspecting that baby is waiting until everything is out of the way before arriving. There's no way I could be arsed doing this while financial malarky once lo arrives...so almost finished and then I can get on and have this baby.

Re weight I have put on a little more this time around (about 14 kgs - I think around 2 stone) than I did first time - but I was much thinner when I became pregnant this time then I had been first time around (I weighed 49 kilos this time and around 54 last time). Just hoping to be able to bf like mad to get it all off again. Funnily enough, I found it easier to lose weight after baby 1 because psychologically I had a reason for being on the chubbier side - so then it was "baby weight" and not eating "crisps and vino" weight"! Much easier when it's not technically your crap willpower but a force of nature!

VictorianSqualor · 08/04/2008 16:01

told you scamp!
I think it must be something in the mallows when they melt but what a wonderful excuse for drinking hot chocolate with marshamllows!

MW called back, the cons is fine with me going to next week. I have my CS booked in for 15th now if it hasn't come before.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 08/04/2008 16:07

Excellent news VS. Hope things happen well before the 15th for you....x

Soph73 · 08/04/2008 16:20

How exciting VS & Aussie. My last MW appointment is the 15th. Re: weight. I have to go to 2 health centres and according to one I´ve gained 10.5 lbs since falling pregnant and according to the other I´ve gained 18.5 lbs. Bizarre!

Carey87 · 08/04/2008 16:21

really good news VS!

re: heartburn - milk usually dies the trick with me

re: weight - ive gained a stone from my pre preg weight so weighed 9st9lb, but really ive put on 2 stone because i dropped down to 7st 5lb because of morning sickness, as soon as i finished chucking up i piled on the pounds and I loved every minute of it good excuse to eat anything and everything!!!

lost about 4lb though in the last few days, which i assume is the whole baby getting ready to come out thing???

also, i cant remember who put on the contraction counting thing? anyone remember or could possibly send me the link?

((((Big hugs to everyone))) (im in a very huggy mood today )

Thank you Cxx

Soph73 · 08/04/2008 16:22

I´m sure the 18.5lbs is more accurate as I eat like a horse and at the moment it´s mainly cake
I´m an emotional rollercoaster at the moment as well, it´s a real pita as even I don´t know whether I´m coming or going

sagitta · 08/04/2008 16:27

That's great news VS. Gives you and LO a bit more breathing space.

PortAndLemon · 08/04/2008 16:29

Contraction timer

PortAndLemon · 08/04/2008 16:30

They agreed to that quite easily, then, VS. Do you get another appointment before the 15th?

AussieDivaOnABreak · 08/04/2008 16:31

Hey Carey - the contraction timer link is
here
SO with you on eating whatever the hell you like - when else do you get this chance?

Carey87 · 08/04/2008 16:32
