Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Oblomov · 08/04/2008 12:35

Yes thanks Pink. I am trying very hard to enjoy and not worry. I am struggling with this, and not enjoying this pregnancy at all. But i want joie de vivre so badly, and I must try atleast to get it, and not to worry.

Oblomov · 08/04/2008 12:36

Good news Bubbaz. What a relief.

Emmanj · 08/04/2008 12:39

fab news bubbaz, glad all went ok.
I saw a maternity physio at the hospital this morning, it was reaally good and id recommend for bad back pain, you can self refer. Took a good look at me and got lots of exercises to do at home.

The nurse there gave me a "strong" talking to about doing my pelvic floor exercises...anyone else doing these?

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 13:20

Oh smiles, honestly do not worry (so easily said i know). My nausea lasted 2 weeks. My tender breasts were never really a problem and have now totally disappeared. At our stage our hormone levels are filtering off and levelling down so symptoms do come and go. DO NOT PANIC.... please... Fingers crossed for you that all is fine.

BUB- Excellent news. When are you due? Or how far are you ?

mummyhill · 08/04/2008 13:21

Bubazz glad everything is ok.

Pelvic floor excersises are a must girls if you don't want to pee everytime you sneeze!

Roca · 08/04/2008 13:44

too tired to even think - please can someone pop over to watch the kids so I can sleep for a bit..........

congrats on scans etc

So sorry divesaisy

Thanks for reminder about Anita bras - they are really comfortable

I mean, how much trouble can a 2 and 3 yr old really get up to if I just drift off for a bit?...........

mad4mybaby · 08/04/2008 13:52

well had scan and firgot i have a tilted womb! You could see th sac but it looked empty and i was really worried but then you saw a heartbeat. Wierd, the sonographer (a guy! v nice) said it was too blury. He said roughly 6.1mm which puts me back to 6 +1 which not happy bout. He said it wasnt that accurate as so blury. Got scan booked for next month so as far as im concerned im 7 weeks until the next scan! Anyone know why was so blury? Havnt heard anyone say that before. Oh and def only 1!

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 14:13

mine yesterday was so much more blury than the internal I had at 6wk 5 days. Got a picture and it just looks like a blob.

AutumnLady · 08/04/2008 14:21

I was really lucky with the scan I had on Friday, I got a great picture even if it was only tiny and 8 + 5 at the time! Have another one booked for 28th april and really looking forward to seeing how big it will be then. Hearing the heartbeat is amazing and to see it on the screen at the same time was brilliant. So glad you got your scans pinkali and mad4 even if they were a little blurry. don't know why that happens but shouldn't worry too much.

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 14:51

Agghh just remembered what my sonographer said. Apparently Broad Beab was moving a lot hence blurred picture!

AutumnLady · 08/04/2008 15:02

So you have an active one there then pinkali!

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 15:04

Well I don't like to show off but oh yes! If it is anything like DH he will never sit down!

AutumnLady · 08/04/2008 15:10

Oh crikey, hadn't thought of that! my DH is always on the move and never quiet - is it a sign of things to come?????!!!

When are you due?

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 15:23

EDD is 15th November but then if it is anything like me it will come early as I am never late to anything. Although it is my first so I will expect it to be late. How about you?

lackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2008 16:02

Afternoon.

I saw my midwife today to fill out the paperwork etc. She had a listen for the baby's heartbeat and found it . Will still feel more re-assured after my scan (no date yet!) but at least I know that there is something in there

I've done a separate November STATS thread, and added Autumnlady to the list. Hi and welcome AL .
I hope I haven't missed anyone off though!

OMG, I'm having another baby

AutumnLady · 08/04/2008 16:13

9th November but again it's my first so probably late!

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 16:17

So how are you feeling? Have you symptoms gone or they there with a vengence?

AutumnLady · 08/04/2008 16:24

I've been so incredibly lucky as have had very few symptoms. sore boobs and very tired and was sick (once) yesterday but that's it! I have had indigestion but that's getting better too. what about you?

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 16:29

Had a little sore boobs (not that the're little but that they weren't really that bad) but that has practically gone. Nausea lasted 2 weeks solid but that has gone although I still have food adversions. Can't stand the thought of mushrooms or eggs. That's why I got into a panic but my scan on monday shows all is ok.

AutumnLady · 08/04/2008 16:38

It's a worrying time!!! I'm sure we are all going to ask a lot of questions in the next 6 months. I have gone off of coffee and chinese/indian food, which is soooo unlike me. I still like lattes etc but just not my usual instant coffee which is weird. I haven't got any other weird food things yet but I have eaten a lot of pineapple recently and drunk a lot of orange and pineapple squash - not sure what that means??!

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 16:46

Oh thats strange. I seem to love pineapple. Bought a large carton yesterday and drank it all. Plus had some chunks in juice.. mmmmm

LolaBella · 08/04/2008 17:04

When i went for my MW appointment she said that there was a backlog in scan appointments at my local hospital (baby boom season round here and prob won't get a dating scan until near 14-15 weeks!! I'm only 10w now and can't bear the wait to see my little bean.
I'v just found a place near me that does private dating scans for £70 and nuchal fold scans for £100. Was wondering that, if i can convinced dp to put his hand in his pocket, which would be best - can you still get a good look at your baby with the nuchal fold scan? I really just want to check that everything is going smoothly and can't bear to wait another five weeks. Any advice from anybody who has had a private scan previously??

SoExcited · 08/04/2008 17:18

Hi all,
I haven't been on since Friday and have spent ages catching up!

On the supplements front - I'm taking Pregancare and have the Pregnacare plus (fish oils), but only take these from time to time depending on whether I've been eating oily fish. Most vitamins are water soluble (i.e. you don't store them), so there is no harm in taking them even if you think you get enough from your diet.

Bras - I am also struggling a bit in my current bras, but have been trying to put off buying any new ones in case I get any bigger. I read that most change is in the first 12 weeks, so was trying to hold out until then. Anyone remember from first pregnancies?

Dare i say it, I think my ms may be easing?! Fingers crossed, although only 8 weeks...

Also, my midwife has calculated my due date differently to my GP (and it works in my favour for maternity pay?!) so I've updated the list (Sorry for the stupidly long post!)

the doctors wife - good on you for standing up to all and going for a homebirth. I had one with no 2 and it was just perfect. I like your husband's comment about having it on the floor and your response - exactly. A friend of mine just had her second at UCH - major teaching hospital in London. Midwife actually laughed at her birthplan and husband was not admitted until the last hour of her labour. She was kept in for an extra 3 days while they struggled to get a phlebotamist to see her to take blood for some tests, meanwhile she has a 2 year old at home ill with chicken pox. She discharged herself in desperation.

The point about homebirths is that you are the boss.

My independent midwife was just the ticket. Flowing kaftans and yoga positions. She was out of her mind with excitement that we had a water birth in front of an open fire. Even now when I see her she asks about my fire and water boy. I will definitely use her second time round as long as no medical problems (I'm still a bit worried about my fibroid but hopefully that will become a non-issue soon).

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 17:24

Re: homebirths. I would love a home water birth BUT I was put off by a doctor telling me that when it is your first you really don;t have a clue how you are going to cope with labour and that if anything were to happen the hospital is the best place to be. I'd still like one BUT would prefer my baby to be healthy than put us at risk. There is so much conflicting info. I suppose we'll see how our pregnancies progress i.e. hopefully no problems!
