Morning all! Loving the new thread title!

I'm still waiting for my scan date to come through! Mind you, I only had my booking in appointment yesterday so I guess I have to wait for things to be set in motion now. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get a date through.

Have started thinking about booking a nuchal fold translucency scan. We don't have them as part of our NHS care where I live so we'll be booking an appointment with Babybond and getting it done ourselves. It has to be done between 11 and 13 weeks so I bet I'll end up having that scan before my dating scan. Typical!

How's everyone doing today?

Pinkali37 · 27/03/2008 10:58

[ennvy] NOT ENVY JUST THE COLOUR I FEEL YUK.... Was hungry and really wanted Heinz tomato soup with white bread dunked into it. Have now had it but am thinking it wasn't such a good idea! ....

Pinkali37 · 27/03/2008 10:59

Big congratulations to you all! Can I join in? EDD of 21 November, though it'll be a c-section, so poss before that. I've got two DDs, 5 nearly 6 and 3 nearly 4 (day after tomorrow, Snow White cake in the oven). I've two ghastly dogs-breakfasts of emergency c-sections before so it'll be an elective this time, which is no fun, but probably more fun than the last two performances, and weird that I'll know the birthday before my babe will!

I've got no sickness yet at all, which feel weird - just enormous boobs. We're going on our first hot and indulgent holiday in years at the end of May, so I'm desperately willing the sickness to have come and gone by then (life just doesn't work that way though, does it).

I'm a SW Londoner, if there are any more of you out there.

serendippity · 27/03/2008 11:15

Hi, quick typing from in laws!
Roca- i have those pains, try not to worry it is everything stretching, your ligamentsand things. I've had them quite badly for a week or two, on andoff just like you. I do remeber them with dd as well, hope this helps a little
Pinkalili- great news on scan, it makes it all real doesn't it.
Twinklingfairy- some people don't get sick at all, again try not to worry, with dd i didn't start feeling ill till month 2.
Dozymare- He's called Spook and was a very good boy in the car last night for 3 hours. He's currently sniffing absolutly everything and trying to get his bearings
Feeling slightly less sick today, but haven't fancied any food yet. Dp gone to a bloody meeting in the Liverpool office, which focuses his familys attention far too much on my poor green face...

Judd · 27/03/2008 11:17

Just wanted to pop in and say Congratulations to Serendippity - I remember you from the May 04 threads xx

Heartmum2Jamie · 27/03/2008 11:18

Roca, You are right, it is hit or miss as to when you can hear babys heartbeat. I was lucky with ds2, but there was a point at 15 weeks where the consultant coun't find it on the doppler, I would have been worried only I had just had a scan and saw that all was fine, lol! Baby is so small and like to swim away. We heard more kicking ans swimming sounds than the heartbeat some days, lol! He still doesn't like being poked and prodded now!

Pinkali37, sorry you are feeling so horrid today, I hope it eases up.

Hanaflower, omg, I would be freaked if I had cryptic messages like that as I really want it to be a suprise when I tell people! Good luck tonight!

Creena, I am in the same boat as you, had booking in yesterday and am now impatiently waiting on scan dates! I would love to have a private scan, but dh says we should save our money (can spend it on a new infant car seat as our has reached it's expiry date) and believe in positive thought as there isn't much we can do if anything is wrong anyway. Trust him to have the sensible head on!

Twinklingfairy - I don't feel sick just off some foods. They used to day that MS was a sign of a strong pregnancy BUT they don't say that anymore. Old fashioned MW will but my consultant assured me that this was no longer the case. Some women are lucky and do not suffer, others are less lucky! I am at the moment - not sure which camp i lie in ! So do not worry...

Roca · 27/03/2008 11:42

Bannana on toast drizzled with honey - yum.

I defo get more aches and pains in the evening which I guess totally makes sense after a hectic day

have to go rescue my toast off DD!

DungunGirl · 27/03/2008 12:38

Hi ladies

Great to hear all the great news from scans etc...and not so great news about PG sickness...

I got my blood tests results after the last 2-3 days scare.

The nurse at the fertility unit said my HCG levels were 1190 and she was happy with this.

Does anyone know if this is good? Does it eliminate my worries of miscarriage for now at least do you think?

I should be 6 weeks tomorrow.

Pinkali37 · 27/03/2008 12:51

Hi Duncangirl - Sorry but i'm not sure about levels. Haven't had mine done yet but I am sure that if the MW was happy with them there is nothing to worry about

xx

Roca · 27/03/2008 13:38

Hi Dungun - I always throught the thing with HCG levels was what was happening over time - up until ? wks (about 10 I think) they are s'posed to double every 48 hours - if they stay the same or drop this shows not all it where it should be.

There is such a huge range women can be that it's hard to compare one with another I think. If you look it up it will say something like wk 4-6 you could be 5 to 5000 or something like that.

When I had a miscarriage my reading was just 87 one day then 54 2 days later so it was obvious it was a m/c

Your reading sounds good though

Heartmum2Jamie · 27/03/2008 13:42

Here is some info on beta numbers that I got from another site:

HCG levels in the blood during pregnancy is huge; a single value will not indicate a normal pregnancy! in fact a number of values are necessary before making a number of determinations, including how far along the pregnancy is. Consider the following figures (based on days past ovulation (DPO); all HCG levels and ranges are averages):

? DPO, 14. HCG level, 48 mIU/ml. Range: 17-119 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 15. HCG level, 59 mIU/ml. Range: 17-147 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 16. HCG level, 95 mIU/ml. Range: 33-223 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 17. HCG level, 132 mIU/ml. Range: 17-429 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 18. HCG level, 292 mIU/ml. Range: 70-758 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 19. HCG level, 303 mIU/ml. Range: 111-514 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 20. HCG level, 522 mIU/ml. Range: 135-1690 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 21. HCG level, 1061 mIU/ml. Range: 324-4130 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 22. HCG level, 1287 mIU/ml. Range: 185-3279 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 23. HCG level, 2034 mIU/ml. Range: 506-4660 mIU/ml.
? DPO, 24. HCG level, 2637 mIU/ml. Range: 540-10,000 mIU/ml.

Look most closely at progression: during the huge majority of early pregnancies (80-90%), the level will double every couple of days, or 72 hours. As your pregnancy progresses, levels rise and that doubling time increases. The expected doubling time for HCG levels:

? Under 1200 mIU/ml: 48-72 hours.
? Between 1200 to 6000 mIU/ml: 72-96 hours.
? Over 6000 mIU/ml: more than 96 hours

HCG levels rise during the first 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy then decline slowly for the second and third trimesters. The following presents some average expected HCG levels based on time after conception:

? week: 0-50 mIU/ml
? 1-2 weeks: 40-300 mIU/ml
? 3-4 weeks: 500-6,000 mIU/ml
? 1-2 months: 5,000-200,000 mIU/ml
? 2-3 months: 10,000-100,000 mIU/ml
? 2nd trimester: 3,000-50,000 mIU/ml
? 3rd trimester: 1,000-50,000 mIU/ml
? Non-pregnant females: < 5.0 mIU/ml

Hi

Thought I'd drop back in and say hello. I did post a couple of times on the previous thread but have been away on holiday (up to the scottish highlands with lots of snow but I couldn't join in with the sledging )so am just catching up with things now.

Its good to see that everyone seems to be progressing well. I have my booking in appt at the doctors tomorrow. Am feeling well with no morning sickness which makes me feel slightly anxious. Last time i didn't have ms either but at times (between bouts of nausea) it must be quite reassuring. The only symptom that I have is a wierd feeling that there is something in there iyswim. That of course might just be all the M&S Flapjacks I have been eating.

Is there anyone else here from the Glasgow area (Southern General Hosp)? Am interested if anyone knows what the situation is with scans. Last time I was only given a 12 week scan. Is this still the case?

Snookie

Creena · 27/03/2008 14:32

just a quickie for now - littlest ds has finally got a tooth coming through!!! it doesn't seem like much but as he's nearly 11 months, it's a massive relief. plus, i was the one to spot it and not the child minder. hurray!!

Pinkali37 · 27/03/2008 14:53

Creena - Hurray for the mummy spotter! Oh bless him, is he trying to chew on things?

mad4mybaby · 27/03/2008 15:03

hi guys, finally found you all hiding here. Good news on the teeth! Just when thought i had been through all the teething with my 21 month ds i realised he been sooo grotty and found out about 2 year old molars!! Didnt know they even got them! It never ends!

I dont know about you guys but i get realllly hungry. I have to eat small things all the time. Or at lunch time i keep eating and then i realise afterwards i feel so sick like ive gorged (sp) myself!

Chased my MW yesterday as she was supposed to have rung me as i have to have an early dating scan. Shes faxing hosp tomorrow so should have a date by next week. I was worried as didnt want an internal scan (most people on here say early ones are) and asked midwife and she had no idea!

I have made a booking in app for the 8th with my doctor and can't wait for that this pregnancy just does not feel real yet. Very excited though. Renaissancewoman · 27/03/2008 15:26

Found ya! Some newbies have started another Nov thread - I'll invite them over.

Had my scan. Its alive! And all is presently well. By my dates the foet is 8wks and by length on scan 8wks, 1 day. So that's pretty consistent I think with everything going according to plan. Is a spanner in the works though. That is that I have a fibroid, about the size of a golf ball, which is pressing on the yolk sac. You could clearly see the indentation. We saw this on my scan last August when I had mc and were told it could have been a factor in mc but impossible to say and most likely cause probably usual chromosome/development issue. But today the Consultant seemed to be saying fibroid could have been cause of previous mc and could cause problems for this baby. As baby gets to be bigger than the fibroid the fibroid ceases to be an issue but is very much an issue for the next few weeks.

So before I was anxious about this pregnancy given mc last year. Now having had scan and this information am sh**ing myself!

However, I must keep things in perspective. Lots of people have fibroids and still deliver children. Black women nearly always have them apparantly without problems. However, more problems are caused for white women. But I might have had this fibroid during 2 previous successful pregnancies as consultant said its not the type of thing an NHS sonographer would generally tell you about.

A case of too much information I think...
Still am relieved that it is presently alive, appropriate size no signs of bleeding in uterus and cervix closed.

Pinkali37 · 27/03/2008 15:39

YIPPEE 'R' BEAN IS ALIVE.... Fibroid is another factor BUT positive thoughts!! My Acupuncturist told me to think sticky thoughts and so the same could be said about your fibroid, think small thoughts! Does that make any sense? I am so pleased for you but am also thinking of you over next few weeks to ensure BEAN develops into a healthy Heniz variety and not a cheap Aldi one... me and my stupid analogys!

x

DungunGirl · 27/03/2008 15:55

Thanks Roca & Heart2mumjamie

I am just going to take it as good then as it gets way to complicated!

More spotting today...DAMN! Come on 7 weeks,I need that scan!

On a totally different note...has anyone else experienced really tender boobs & really sensitive nipples which then changed to really itchy nipples!!

Can't stop rubbing myself...so itchy....

Bettispaghetti · 27/03/2008 16:28

Yey I found you!!

finally managed to get hold of MW today (1 has left and another is off sick!!). She's standing in for sick one so doesn't know very much about antenatal care in my area - fantastic, that makes 2 of us!! She's booked my booking in appt for next weds providing other MW is back. God knows what'll happen if she isn't. Feel alone at the moment.

Great reading about all your 'cravings'. Just had to have a marmite sarnie last night and can't stop eating oranges (would like to think I was being very healthy but after just scoffing a whole packet of jammy dodgers, I think not )

DungunGirl I've also got really tender boobs, mainly in the evening when they feel so heavy that the skin might split. I've even had leaking from one nipple!! God knows what size they'll be in November. I probably won't even be able to stand up straight!! Have you tried changing your bra. Maybe the fabric is causing them to be itchy? How about trying 100% cotton?

serendippity · 27/03/2008 16:34

Hello judd!
i am just sneakily scoffing biscuits currently, thrown up once, dammit, but i don't think anyone noticed!
