blimey, its been manic on here overnight!
Pinkali - let us know how you get on when your results come through. You know we are all here to support you. x

Motionsickness is perfect to describe how I feel driving is out as it makes me feel so bad and so at the moment im cut off from all my friends. Live 60 miles from family and 14 miles from friends and cant face travel. went for a walk but tiredness soon kicks in.

I just feel like I cant get comfortable, cant sleep properly, too sick or too tired to get all my chores done, the only time i dont feel sick is if im eating but nothing takes my fancy and so im sucking boiled sweets. I think its the metallic taste in my mouth making me queasy. if im eating i cant tell but afterwards my mouth floods with metal tasting salvia and i start wretching again.

I know its gonna get far more uncomfortable but at what stage can i expect to feel physically a bit better and actually start to enjoy this. God what an ungrateful cow i am as I know when the symptoms stop we all start to worry. Is this parenthood then? The state of never being able to do the right thing!

toolly · 01/04/2008 14:47

Hello. Just found the news last Thursday and getting used to the idea. Just moved so I will have to get registered with a new Doctor very quickly. Can't believe I am doing it all again.

ceebee74 · 01/04/2008 15:16

Welcome to all the newbies that have arrived today

Dundungirl - so very sorry for your loss

Creena - Manchester Gap is near House of Fraser department store if that helps? If you head towards House of Fraser from where the main shops are, there is a pedestrian square with McD's, Early Learning Centre and a little shopping arcade (Royal Exchange I think) that has Blooming Marvellous in - Gap is on a corner just off that square. It is a little bit away from the main town but well worth a visit - it has 4 floors so stocks pretty much everything I think.

Mad4 - no advice about the cot/bed situation. I am afraid DS is still in his cot with the sides still up fully . My mum was nagging me yesterday about moving him into a bed before he is 2 but tbh, we just have never thought about it and just carried on as normal. It is a cotbed so maybe we should start to lower the side so he gets used to it. We will be having the new baby in our room for the first 6 months and then it will move into the nursery and DS will move into another room - but I figure that is still about 14 months away so plenty of time to get DS used to a bed. Sorry I can't help.

Caffeine-free diet coke - um, not sure if that will quite hit the spot but might be worth a try. I think it is the caffeine I am craving to keep me awake!

mum2becks · 01/04/2008 15:39

Hi everyone, been away for the weekend and cant believe how much I have to catch up on, I cant possibly read through it all but have scanned over it!!!

creena how strange is that, same EDD and scan date! I was thinking my scan was really late compared to most so nice to have someone else with the same date

ceebee74 i'm with you on keeping dd in her cot for the time being, she is 21 months and I know of a few friends who have moved to beds by now but she loves her cot and I know once she is in for the night she is safe and is a good sleeper so dont want to disrupt that just yet!

I anyone else shattered but cant sleep? I am so tired by the end of the day and fall asleep straight away but wake up needing a wee every night and then cant go back to sleep at all, this morning it was 3am!!!!!!

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 16:41

Emmanj I have been off work since Feb 07 because of my neck and I am not permitted to return to my job or any other within the Civil Service. I've had a MRI scan done which has diagnosed prolapsed discs in my cervical spine. I have pain in my neck that radiates through my right shoulder and arm into my hand, under my shoulder blade and accassionally goes up the back of my head through the right side of my face. I bought a memory foam mattress and pillow which has helped posture in bed. I've had physio which hasn't helped and have been prescribed 'cocktails' of medication through a chronic pain clinic - including anti epileptics and anit depressants, none of these helped the pain only made me very drowsy. I've also had a cervical spine epidural in Sept and a IV infusion of local anaesthetic in Jan , none of which have eased it. Now I'm preg there won't be much my consultant can do as the medications are too strong. Paracetamol is the only thing I can take, but I may as well suck on a sweet for all the relief they give me.

So at the mo, I cope by doing what I can do and not over doing it! The matress has helped a bit and I sleep with my right arm supported on a bean pillow. I have a heat aid that can go into the microwave and I place it on my neck for ease. I do as little ironing as possible, have to hoover etc with my left arm!! Adaptation, and trying to stay positive is how I cope!

What is the problem with your neck? HAve you had any tests to get a diagnosis?? try this webiste for great easy to understand info www.painclinic.org/

Hello

Duncangirl- I am just so sorry for your loss. TTC and early pregnancy is just a whole host of ups and downs and physically and emotionally draining. I pray that you will be blessed with a healthy baby soon. xxxxxxxx Don't forget as everyone has said, we are all here to support you.

Mmmm I am still waiting for the doctors to ring with results. Feel nervous as hell.

Heartmum- when you say yours can come and go. Do you mean like me you could have a week off and then start feeling ok. I am just so worried that my levels aren't right but then I suppose if some people don't get it at all and still have healthy babies that can't be true.

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 17:02

Mad4mybaby - yes that's what I'm after. Thanks too ceebee74 there on bump to 3 (but dearer!!OHH!)

Oh and my Lions Midget Gems arrived in the post today!! I got 6 bags delivered! Yum Yum! Am I bad introducing you all to that website? LOL!!

Creena - what tune are you playing!!? Play it in one and we'll all guess what it is!!!! that;s the FUNNIEST thing I've heard in a long time - the tears are running down my face as I imagine you!!!!!! Thanks for your thanks - glad I was of some support to you. BIG HUG!x

Dozy- i'm wobbly and fat! Hurrah!

Pinkali, MS comes and goes - I haven't had it for a few days now. SOmetimes I think I've just gotten used to how I feel now and it has become normal now - IFKWIM? Don't worry about it - read through all of this thread and be reminded that everythings up then down! Rollercoaster. Big breath and REEE-LAXXXXXXXX!!!

mum2becks · 01/04/2008 17:03

pinkali37 I had no ms at all when expecting dd and the whole pregnancy went smoothly and dd was perfectly healthy! This time round I have felt queasy on and off but not all the time so I dont think its anything to worry about

Pinkali37 · 01/04/2008 17:08

That bloody midwife worried me then and probably for no reason.. well i'll confirm that when my levels come back. I think to her it was the thought of really bad ms and then it suddenly stopping. I think if I hadn't had any i wouldn't be so worried its the fact i had some and so early it has disappeared.

I love lyons midget gems and fruit gums... oh god the pineapple ones are just to die for....

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 17:10

Twinkle - yes I have seen you mentioned the belly belts in Boots - thanks for the tip! I'll find out the cheapest place to get them (with P&P included) and advise back!

Ta to all who have taken the time to source these out for me. Has snyone ever used them? Are they any good!?

My sister used one and thought it was really good. She wore her normal suit when she was over 7 months pregnant, so could save money if you want to wear normal clothes for longer.

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 17:15

Dungungal so so sorry to hear your sad news. Take care of yourself. Big hug - bless xx

Mad4baby - when ds was 2 I put my ds into big boys bed with safety guard added and he loved it!

welcome mrsmattie!

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 17:21

thanks soexcited - good to have a product review b4 buying. I found when I bought maternity trousers in my usual size they were too big! They would feel like they were falling down on me even at full term! So I think I'll give the baby belt - it means I dont (shouldn't have) to buy any trousers. I think in theory this product sounds like a great item!

SoExcited · 01/04/2008 17:25

The one my sister lent me is from JojoMamanBebe and looks a little bit different from the Boots one. It goes over the top of your trousers, so you don't have to wear a really long top. She's also lent me some fab jeans from Blooming Marvellous, which I could wear now, despite still fitting in my normal jeans. They adjust really well.

twinklingfairy · 01/04/2008 17:29

ooh yes, I would like it if people would tell us if the belly belts are any good
They seem like a fab idea.
Let me know when you find the best price, would you divedaisy. Cheers.

Today has been good so far.
Pinkali, I am so pleased cos today I have had very little in the way of MS, in comparison to yesterday. A day off would be so good. I am sure you don't need to worry but I am pleased that they are doing the test for you and getting back to you so quickly too. Didn't someoen else say that they had to wait 48 hours for their result, how awful.

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 17:33

OK regarding the Babe Belts and Baby Bandeaus the price and postage are as follows:
Baby Belt:
BOOTS £13.95 + £2.95 = £16.90
PHP £12.95 + £4.50 = £17.45
Bump to 3 £13.95 + £3.95 = £17.90

Bandeau:
JoJo Maman £15.00 + £4.00 = £19.00

So by my reckoning Boots is the winner.. unless anyone wlse know where these can be got!

bubbaz · 01/04/2008 17:37

Just a note re the Bandeau, You can get three for £9 (I think) in New Look Maternity. 1 black 1 grey and 1 white. Haven't tried them but I know I was wishing for something similar towards the end of last pg!! I will defo be purchasing some

lubyluby · 01/04/2008 17:40

  • thanks for the advice about the neck pain. I had an MRI done in January after about 6 months of ongoing pain, headaches and left shoulder pain - basically was told by docs it was stress and anxiety but paid to have physio which helped. The physio at the time said it seemed like an old whiplash injury (i had a skiing accident about a year ago and really hurt my neck. Was prescribed Amytrptyline and strong painkillers, but the MRI came back with nothin showing wrong mechanically and its soft tissue damage.
Same as you, cant take the medication now! I also work as a Early Years teacher so im bending down all day, and have buggered my posture over the years. I will investigate mattresses which u mentioned, im using a special neck pillow but may need to look more at the mattress? Thanks so much for your reply, its really helped, and good to hear someoen being so positive!!

found this combo on amazon for the belly belt and band.www.amazon.co.uk/GROBAG-COMBO-BELLY-BELT-KB112/dp/B000XAD7AM/ref=pd_bbs_2/026-7553061-7825250?ie=UTF 8&s=baby&qid=1207068734&sr=8-2

Or you can get the belly belt for £8.89 + P&P

www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=bump+band&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&ref=pd_sl_3zpghdjdyx_b give a load of them - including Bump Huggers - which look like a xtra long boob tube that comes in funky patterns to work as a bandeau. Nice.

www.myrubyrose.co.uk/?gclid=CM7764KrupICFQOB1AodUSyDcQ so many to choose from!!!

or try ebay - there are loads on there!!

divedaisy · 01/04/2008 18:15

Emmanj I went to Dreams bed store. The matress and bed base I got set me back £1500, although you can get them from around £1000. Not cheap but if you're in enough pain it is money well spent. I think the matress with the pillow works best to get your spine all in alignment. Yeh I was on preglabalin and amytryptyline too - I was like a zombie and still in pain!

Must get off now and get dinner on the go! Mumsnet is too adictive and although there is lots of very useful info, I find it can take up too much of my time. I don't wnat to say it's a waste of time, cos it;s not, but I just don't see the time going! Last time I looked it was lunchtime!! LOL

lubyluby · 01/04/2008 18:20

thank you, i am still amazed at how many of us there are.

no ms here, a feeling of queasiness but no actual being sick. feel like i have put on loads of weight already but that could eb all the easter eggs i ate instead.
