My vote has to be for dungarees so comfy, I lived in mine through previous pregnancies and they are in the wash as I type! As I am at home most of the time I can slob around in comfort apart from when I have to wear the daft matty uniform at work. Yes it is daft as they just order you bigger tops so they still dont fit right and you look like some idiot that got the sizing wrong! Apparently they are struggling to get maternity trousers atm, good job I have my own in black then.

Hi all
Creena-Gap is in st Anne's Square, next to the Little Gem church.
feel loads better today, and I rememnbered another top food tip for feeling really sick-
orange juice loollies
do excuse my awful speeling I am being besieged by my children.
Sorry to hear people's bad news- big hugs to you.

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/04/2008 19:43

Pinkali, any news? I agree with the others though, symptoms of any kind, not just m/s can come and go, mine certainly do. I am definatelty back to feeling ever so slightly queasy.

I had to LOL as after my last post about how my doppler had not shown up, a royal mail van brings not just 1, but 2 dopplers, lol! I rented one because I knew my friend was busy and might not get around to sending it for a while, but nope, she posted it yesterday, lol! Still, I can send the rental back in 4 weeks and hang onto the other untril I feel baby move regularly. I had a little play earlier, but couldn't find bubs. Could hear the whoosh whoosh of my own blood/heart pumping or possibly the placenta. Still, it's early days, hopefully by 10 weeks I will hear something.

Hope all is ok Pinkall. Feeling sick can almost be reassuring sometimes. Midwives- especially young ones can be a bit over-cautious sometimes, but on the other hand I had a bleed with my first pregnancy and it turned out to be nothing. I went to hospital to get myself checked out and they were really lovely about it- even though I should probably have sat it out a bit longer before going.I just knew that if I left it I would just worry myself into a big moodle of worriedness.

pinkyminky · 01/04/2008 20:37

P.S.
Has anyone else been given a booking in appointment that doesn't include their dating scan? What an obfuscated way of doing things. I've got to go all the way to the main hospital just to fill in my notes with the midwife, then make an appointment for a scan that will be done at the community hospital up the road, where all the rest of my midwife appointments will be. I'm sure my booking appointments included the dating scan and were done at the clinic for my other two. Is this a new thing?

ceebee74 · 01/04/2008 20:48

Pinkyminky - my booking in appointment is in one place (a local chidren's centre), the scan is done at the hospital at a later date and all my ante-natal appointments will then be at the doctors surgery so that is 3 different places - plus I suspect, as I had a c-section first time round, I will have to see a consultant which will be at a different hospital from where the scan will be - so I guess that will actually be 4!

Pinkali - any news yet?

pinkyminky · 01/04/2008 21:15

Well that must be it then. I was just surprised at this extra appointment prior to my first scan.
Last time I went to the communtiy midwives at the doctors, then to the consultant and hospital midwives at their clinic at the community hospital. I just remembered I was in hospital anyway when my 12 week scan was due last time, so I had it there instead of the clinic. I have had 2 sections now so there will be no community midwives for me this time around.
Your consultant might have a clinic at the children's centre if you're lucky. Are going to have to have another c-section?

MrsMattie · 01/04/2008 21:20

Hi all. I'm going to trawl through this thread tomorrow morning when I'm more bright eyed and get to know who's who and what's going on. In the meantime, lots of love and luck to people going through a tough time. I had a m/c last year and it was very, very tough - only time heals, really.

As for me, am trying to be as positive as possible and not let my worries get the better of me. Very glad that they're giving me an early scan next week. At least it'll slightly ease my mind until 12 eek nuchal scan...

I was horrified to find out that at my booking in appointment next week my GP would like to know which hospital I want to have my baby at! Jeez, I'll be 6 weeks pregnant...I haven't a clue. I had a c-section last time round and am still totally torn between VBAC and an elective. Any thoughts? What are other previous c-section-ers doing?

pinkyminky · 01/04/2008 21:30

If you don't have some severe medical reason for having a section, you don't have to decide between VBAC or elective until you are 36 weeks. So that's one decision you can postpone. Is there a hospital with a domino scheme near you? That could be a perfect half-way house between a birthing centre and a consultant led hospital, though depending on your situation you may be put under the consultant midwives anyway. A friend of mine had a very successful VBAC recently using the domino scheme.

Roca · 01/04/2008 21:50

Hi MrsMattie - the VBA2C or c-section crosses my mind most days. Haven't checked in with Dr / MW yet so am sure they will have something to say about it. I tried for VBAC after DC1 but ended up with C-section.

Have actually been telling myself that the end result is the same (as in a baby) so I will go for whatever is recommended to me. (I have pros and cons for both so kind of sit on the fence)

I was really gutted first time round and literally sobbed and sobbed in the hospital at 30wks when they said I would need a c section (placenta previa) but after a few scary bleeds I was just wanted the baby to get our safe and didn't care by what method that meant.[SMILE]

Roca · 01/04/2008 21:53

how strict are you all being with food stuffs - I'm off the brie but went for a tapas on Friday and couldn't get enough of the squid - it's only a risk if not cooked properly coz we have a lower immune to bacteria, right? In France they all crack on with the brie and red wine anyway!

I worry that sometimes I may be too flipant - maybe I need to read some horror stories just to give me soemthing else to freak out about!

pinkyminky · 01/04/2008 22:20

Roca
poor you- that all sounds very scary.
I had an emergency c-section 1st time around and it was all very upsetting, but I have to say that when I had seen the consultant 2nd time around and he said VBAC was out of the question I did actually leave the hospital feeling happy and kind of relieved that it was such a clear decision. The planned c-section was really calm and I was very happy with it all. I think what I'm saying is I knew it was the right decision by how I felt after it was made. I'm sure you can change your mind- no-one can force you to have major surgery, can they?
Food-wise, I'm careful with eggs and blue cheese and don't drink but that's about it.

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/04/2008 22:32

Pinkyminky, my midwife came and did my booking in last week, in the comfort of my own home. Obviously my dating scan is still a little over 3 weeks away. I am glad they were done seperately or there would have been alot of do at the first appt (the booking in took more than an hour), paperwork, scan & bloods, it would have taken the better part of half a day, not so good when you have other kids!

We are already debating what to do with the boys when we go for the scan. This is where not having told the family yet is working against us, as we couldn't ask the MIL to watch both boys without telling her where or why we are dropping them both off. Thankfully, the one person I have told, my best friend has said she will arrange to watch them or have them at her house while we go to the hospital. It is only around the corner from her house, so ideal!

Well yes.I have two under three to look after at home. My parents are having to come over for this appointment tomorrow as the hospital is quite a long way away.
For my first child, the whole thing was done in about 2 hours- scan, bloods, notes. All at the clinic over the road- it was all very friendly and efficient- no great long waits like at the hospital.
When you get as sick as I do you can't hide it from your family very easily, so I just tell them straight away, so they are coming over to help.
I think I will leave them home for the 12 week scan. DS came along to the 20 week scan for dd. I'm not sure how much he remembers (he was only about 13 months or so) but he found it all quite exciting.

pinkyminky · 01/04/2008 22:50

Please excuse me! By 'them', I mean my children- my parents are free agents- obviously!

Roca · 02/04/2008 00:04

omg, I may well have a 3rd baby in November!!!! (it hits me now and again) woooo hooooooo!

I have a 2 bed cottage - hmmm - 3 in a room and cabbage soup for tea (oops been watching Charlie and choc factory too much) - oh well - siblings like to be close, don't they?!! At least they won't have 4 grandparents in the lounge as well.

Roca · 02/04/2008 00:07

mummyhill - dungarees?!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you wear them with the top half down like Kerry Catona?

Ok ok JOKE - I think Dungarees are cool ok!!!

Roca · 02/04/2008 00:26

twinklingfairy - have even you gone to bed? I'm still working - someone has to buy the cabbages!

twinklingfairy · 02/04/2008 01:18

I had gone to bed roca but am now back up.
I was suffering cramps before I went to bed, even put a hot water bottle on my tummy, but thought nothing of it.
Was woken up at 12.30 needing loo. Was majorly to find fresh red blood!!!

Have lain for 40 minutes convincing myself not to get up and come on here, but also writing the poor me post in my head.
So here I am.
I am so losing it
There is just no way I can convince myself otherwise, is there?
Fresh red (practically flowing) blood and period cramps. Fait au complis

Roca · 02/04/2008 01:31

oh no no no no no oh I wish I could say that it's totally fine. oh nooooooo

Oh....I had exactly that when I m/c and I just knew because because I had both cramps and fresh flowing bleeding BUT there is always a chance it will be fine as there are loads of other positive outcome stories on here.

OK, deep breaths, you have to just curl up - refill that hot water bottle and see how things go. Let yourself cry cry cry too if you need - and get back on here to let us know and for loads of support all the way

Loads and loads of hugs your way

Roca · 02/04/2008 01:32

what't happening with bleeding right now?

twinklingfairy · 02/04/2008 01:36

Oh roca
I didn't think you would still be up!
hang on.... I will check, don't look!

There is a small spot, not too much.
But the cramps are still quite sore, though the nausea is still fairly annoying, but that could continue for a bit anyway.

Roca · 02/04/2008 01:40

right, I've got to pack up now as have an early start in the morning.....

Not too much blood, sounds great. Try to go back to bed and will the nausea to stay and the bleeding to go - it could well just be an impantation bleed (yes, that must be it!). Make sure you call your DR / EPU in the morning and keep in touch

Night for now - more hugs

twinklingfairy · 02/04/2008 01:45

Thank you roca, just to know somone has heard me tonight has helped a lot.
I woke DH to tell him, but he pretty quickly fell asleep again, which was ok. Wouldn't want a late night discussion anyway. But nice to have told you.
Will see what the morning brings.

dozymare · 02/04/2008 07:00

Morning All - how are you twinkling??? That must have been pretty scary to see in the middle of the night...however, sounds as if it had stopped if was only a tiny spot.....hope you are ok xxxxxx

For those already thinking about VBAC - I am absolutely definately going for another elective.....I had a 3 day labour with first DS that ended in an emergency C.....2nd time around they recommended an elective which was the most amazing experience...I was calm, awake, and walking around the same night (albeit in a wee bit of pain).....I have heard of ladies being able to do it 3rd time around, but I am a)to scared b)Sticking to what I know and c) worried that my scar will tear!!

As for booking appointments I have mne on the 10th April followed by my scan on the 8th May.....However, when I went for the dating scan on Monday they took bloods (including for the new testing for Downs) and we will look at the results at my booking appointment. All very different!
