Hi onthefarm I also looked very PG as I was getting ready for bed last night Shock but then I think I did last month too when I wasn't PG so not sure I can blame the beany for that !

onthefarm · 28/03/2008 18:03

Hi Mibbes, made me chuckle!
Not sure if have any good advice about ms. When preg with my dd I lived off hula hoops for 3 months - couldn't stand anything else. Not very healthy though. Felt sick/faint this morning and half a banana did the trick. Big salad for lunch (who am I kidding, had "lunch" at about 10:30am!)and that's kept me going...until the doughnuts.

Also I found I have never been sick with last two preg, but just felt sick all day. Have a friend who is due in June, and she was sick loads. Think the trick might be keeping portions small?

nandos · 28/03/2008 18:19

Anyone here have felt warm or feverish-like? I feel like im going down with fever but not actually. Whenever i have a glass of cold drink, i would put the glass on my foreheadHmm its a weird routine i do past few days.
Also girls, is there any advice for me regarding diet as I am actually on the thin side and would like to put on a bit of weight before i have any morn sickness? i have been taking nourishment drink but other than that food intake is normal..

llareggub · 28/03/2008 18:20

I wasn't sick at all last time so cannot offer any tips personally. I do feel quite sick this time and have already been told to eat before I get up. DH not impressed by the thought of bringing me breakfast in bed, I can tell you!

llareggub · 28/03/2008 18:23

nandos, funny you should mention that. My mother and I have both have flu type symptoms in early pregnancy. Both times I have thought I have had the flu but turned out to be pregnant! My mother had the same thing. The body is odd, isn't it? I think those people that do the temperature taking thing say that temperature does rise in pregnancy, and that some people know they are pregnant just from the rise in temperature.

applepip · 28/03/2008 18:34

don't know about the temp rise, never experienced that.

Re diet I guess carbohydrates would help. I think things like cheese, pasta, potatoes, rice etc would help you put on some weight but still quite healthy. Though imho pizza & chips doesn't got amiss once in a while Wink

I found as well that with ms it helps to keep a couple of digestive or ginger biscuits by your bed & then eat these before you get up.

Most important thing for me is more iron. With ds my iron levels were a little low so I'm trying to eat more green vegetables, drink oj with meals & cut out some caffeine.

OP posts:
applepip · 28/03/2008 18:35

read back over my post, looks like I'm an expert, but I'm not really Blush

OP posts:
llareggub · 28/03/2008 18:37

Definitely agree about the iron thing. I get low iron levels as well. I have never had the problem of being underweight (rather the opposite) so can't help there but I do find eating little and often helps with sickness so far.

applepip · 28/03/2008 18:52

I'm the opposite as well, probably a bit overweight. In fact, now I've suddenly switched to healthier food (salads & fruit), junior is probably thinking 'hey, I didn't sign on for this. Where's my coke & chocolate?'!

OP posts:
llareggub · 28/03/2008 19:08

I've had raging cravings for smoothies. In fact this was one of the things that made me suspect I was pregnant as I suddenly wanted fruit, salad and veg and felt sick at the thought of coffee and chocolate. Wine had the same effect last time but now I don't drink at all!

bcsnowpea · 28/03/2008 21:27

Welcome Verso, Goneunder and Nandos.

I'm really glad that I can spill the news to mumsnet, otherwise I don't think I'd be able to keep the secret AT ALL! Smile

I'm kinda happy that this time around (so far) I don't have the constant nausea that clued me in for ds. I just have to pee a lot Blush.

Thanks for doing the summary Mibbes. I'm just going to update it as this is dc#2 for me, not #3.

nandos due 01/12 DC#1
applepip due 02/12 DC#2
llareggub due 02/12 DC#2
mibbes due 02/12 DC#1
onthefarm due 02/12 DC#3
goneundergroundtillfamilyknow due 04/12 DC#3
Verso due 04/12 DC#2
bcsnowpea due 05/12 DC#2
BrightShinySun due 05/12 DC#2

I'm very much looking forward to seeing the list grow over time.

mibbes · 28/03/2008 23:12

Oops sorry bcsnowpea, but hey maybe I have psychic powers and you have #2 and #3 in there ! OMG I hadn't even thought of the possibility that I may have more than 1 beany, yikes I've just terrified myself Shock

bcsnowpea · 29/03/2008 08:25

oops, well that's a typo I'm blaming on baby brain Smile. I should prob not entertain the possibility that it might be two, I think that would just freak dh out.

llareggub · 29/03/2008 09:04

Does anyone else keep looking at the pregnancy test and wondering if it is real? I did two and they were pretty faint and I keep asking DH to confirm that I am indeed pregnant. So much so he ask told me that he is going to buy another test today just to shut me up!

goneundergroundtillfamilyknow · 29/03/2008 09:37

Regarding morning sickness, feeling faint tec I find that eating little and often helps. Rather than eating 3 large meals I tend to eat 5 small meals each day. Gone off tea and coffee and am drinking a lot of squash.

pixsix · 29/03/2008 09:57

Hello Ladies, can I join your thread?

I got 2 faint positives on Clearblue and First Response yesterday (CD27) and a positive on Clearblue Digital this morning. The first day of my last period was 2/03/08 so I think that means I'll be due in December. Does anyone know if that's right?

This is my first pregnancy and my husband doesn't want me to get too excited just in case but I really feel like I'd like to talk about it with people in the same situation.

I'm excited and absolutely terrified and just hoping for the best.

I hope it's ok for me to join and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

nandos · 29/03/2008 10:00

thx for the info girls...the reason of my low weight might be because i think eating is a waste of time Sad i eat only when im hungry ..that needs to be changed Grin
llareggub - i keep seeing my test every 4-6 hours or so lol..although mine is a thick dark line i still couldnt believe it.

btw anyone started their urine/blood test to reconfirm their pregnancy yet or just go straight to ante-natal check-up? im new to this so pls bear with me Blush

llareggub · 29/03/2008 10:12

I went to see the doctor yesterday because I have a repeat prescription. I wanted to check with him that it is safe to continue through pregnancy. From what he said, and it does vary from area to area, the GP doesn't have any involvement at all. I've just booked in the for the "booking in" appointment with the midwife. This happens in week 10 or so where I live and is where they do the blood tests for hepatitis, HIV, rubella etc. It takes about an hour.

BrightShinySun · 29/03/2008 12:28

Hi all! Hi pixsix, think we're all a bit nervous my dh is the same! Im not going to the docs just been told to make my booking app for around 8wks. Will wait a couple of weeks just incase as only 5wks now.
Hope everyones having a nice weekend.x

phee96 · 29/03/2008 12:35

Hi all, can I join? I got a BFP on Thursday morning Grin This will be DC#1 and DH and I are so excited. It doesn't feel quite real yet. I've been really sick since last week but so has DH so didn't think too much of it at the time. I think we're looking at a due date of around 5/12

BrightShinySun · 29/03/2008 14:00

Congrats phee96! It is exciting isnt it!

llareggub · 29/03/2008 15:14

Since Tuesday I have done 4 tests and 3 out of 4 have been positive. The latest, the negative one, was today. The third positive was this morning and the first two positives were on Tuesday.

I only did the 2 today because I had 2 faint results on Tuesday. TBH I really did not believe I was pregnant (various reasons relating to PCOS) and DH got me the tests today to shut me up.

I did the 1st test today and it looked negative but then a faint result appeared after about 5 minutes. It is a clear blue test. I did another (again, I don't know why) and it is negative.

If I am pregnant I have no idea how many days/weeks I am. BUgger. Was so happy.

applepip · 29/03/2008 15:49

congratulations pixsix & phee, nice to see you here. Sorry, I'm useless at working out dates, always leave it up to the dr! I do go to the dr as we have shared care where I live so half of my appts are at the hospital and half at the surgery.

llareggub, don't worry yet, you could still be pregnant. Its probably worth going to your drs and getting it checked.

pixsix · 29/03/2008 16:04

Thanks applepip, have found an online due date calculator and now think I am due on 7th December.

BrightShinySun I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a very cautiously optimistic dh! I know it is VERY early but it's so hard not to be excited! I think I will go and see the GP next week as I have no idea what happens with midwife/doctors appts etc and I am living in a completely new area so can't even ask friends for info. phee96 have you been to the Dr? Are you going to go?

llareggub, I found the ordinary Clearblue test I did hard to read too (the positive line was really faint) but First Response and Clearblue Digital were much more obvious. Might be an expensive option but maybe try a different brand? Fingers crossed for you.

llareggub · 29/03/2008 16:31

Thanks. DH keeps telling me we have 3 out 4 positive tests and that I am being over-anxious. I am trying so hard to be relaxed about this.
