applepip · 27/03/2008 21:41

mibbes, I would say the most important things to avoid are blue/unpasteurised cheese (brie, stilton etc) & pate. Other than that, scoff away!

If you like, I'm happy to send you a couple of my books to read.

mibbes · 27/03/2008 21:47

aahh applepip that is so kind of you thanks ! I have just ordered a whole host of books from amazon so I'll try to read those first !
I have a question for you experienced ladies. I need to pretend to be boozing at the weekend. How do I do that ? Having friends to the house to watch football and need to be 'drinking' otherwise they will guess !

mibbes · 27/03/2008 21:52

I am so tired and have felt hungry/queasy a few times ! I thought it may all be in my head though, can we really have symptoms so early Hmm ? I guess the tiredness is more to do with being unable to sleep as I mentally decorate a nursery, tell my family, choose a pram etc... my brain is doing overtime thinking of everything Grin Just remembered earlier we'll have to choose a name, how exciting Grin

llareggub · 27/03/2008 22:02

mibbes, I'm exhausted too and have quite a few symptoms which led me to do a pregnancy test. It probably isn't all in your head at all!

I can't advise regarding the pretending to drink thing since I haven't had a drink since February 2006 when I found out I was pregnant with my son! I'm still breastfeeding and decided not to drink because of that, although I understand it isn't really a problem. However my son wakes up at 6am so hangovers aren't really very attractive!

Could you claim antibiotics? I really admire people who can keep secrets!

cazzybabs · 27/03/2008 22:07

OMG - I can't beleive that there is a dec 08 thread. I had a dec 07 baby - she is prefect! It is a lovely time of year to have one - and just think you'll have your baby before Christmas and so will be able to have a drink or three!!!!! Smile

applepip · 27/03/2008 22:12

cazzybabs, hopefully we'll have our babies before xmas!

mibbes, first time around I said I was on antibiotics to avoid questions about why I wasn't drinking. Will have to do it again in a couple of weekends as we're going away with some friends. It is really exciting thinking of everything that's coming though!

Anyway, I'm so tired I'm falling asleep sat here so am off to bed

Have a good night everyone!

Hello happy pregnant women, can I join in?

I've just had a BFP! I thought I'd do it on my lunch break if my period didn't arrive, thoroughly convinced that there would only be one line since I don't have symptoms like I did with ds2, but there it was, a lovely extra line! Grin Grin Grin

By my calculations I'm due Dec 5th. I'm glad I jumped on this thread right at the beginning.

Congrats to everyone, I hope we can be really excellent support for each other over the next nine months.

BrightShinySun · 28/03/2008 07:13

Hi bcsnowpea and congrats! Mibbes i had a really good book last time that i friend lent me, it was a bit cheesy in places but had a massive section with an in depth week by week thing that i loved. When i find it again i'll let you know the name.

BrightShinySun · 28/03/2008 07:18

By the way mibbes i would definitly go for antibiotics,my dh's been on them for a week and sat thought he could get away with a glass of wine-was very sick! That'll teach him for having no will power!(notice lack of sympathy as i now have 9mo of no wine!)

onthefarm · 28/03/2008 07:34

Re boozing. Had a friend who had this prob. She worked round it by saying she was really hung-over whenever she was required to drink! Worked really well, and didn't have to explain why she felt tired/sick. Also heard about this website lono - they sell non-alcoholic champagne/wine/cocktail mixes that look and taste like the real thing, apparently, have no first hand experience.

Did another test this morning, was a cheapie one, but a nice big bright pink line straight away, so feel bit more legit being on this thread!

Hi BirghtShinySun and bcssnowpea, and congratulations!

The only book I ever bought was " What to expect when you're expecting", bit American but thorough. Even has a bit on what to do if you have to deliver the baby by yourself!

Am curious to know who everyone has told that they're pregnant? Dh, my parents and siblings know, but not dd and ds or any friends.

Verso · 28/03/2008 07:36

Can I (cautiously) join in? I got a BFP Tuesday, but it was very faint... re-tested today and it was a bit darker so I'm convinced! The caution is that after my DD (who's nearly 3) I've had two missed miscarriages, so I'm quite apprehensive about this one. Anyway, due date is 4 December...

I might not post very often, as I really am quite unsure about this after my losses, but I thought I'd say hello! Smile

BrightShinySun · 28/03/2008 07:51

Hi verso and congrats hope it all goes well for you. Onthefarm i told my mum and dad and dh has told his best friend but thats it. I dunno why but am more nervous this time. Didnt even know about mmc last time and now all i can think is i need that scan!

goneundergroundtillfamilyknow · 28/03/2008 08:08

Can I join? EDD 4/12
Not going to post much as I don't want to upset family by letting them find out on here but this will be No 3 and I am in a panic cause we weren't going to have any more!

onthefarm · 28/03/2008 08:30

Hi Verso, fingers crossed all goes well for you this time, (you too BrightShinySun.)
goneunderground, hello, this is no3 for us too, what made you change your mind?
Am desparate to tell some of my friends who are pregnant, but seems like the sensible thing is to wait for the scan.
Also if people ask you flat out "Are you pregnant?" before the first scan what do you/will you say?

goneundergroundtillfamilyknow · 28/03/2008 09:42

Didn't change our mind, apparently minipill not as effective if you are over 11 stone. If I get asked flat out probably tell truth. To be honest I won't be able to hide/deny it as will start to show sooner as it is third time round iyswim.

nandos · 28/03/2008 11:33

Hello girls Smile
Mind if I join in?
Me n my hubby were TTC #1 for 2 1/2yrs and I just got a BFP today morn at 5.30am when i had to go to the bathroom n there it was..2 dark lines! I cant believe it! 6 days ago it was just a faint line and i just keep telling myself that it was just an evaporation line.
According to the due date calc, my EDD would be 1st Dec 08 Grin and today would be exactly 5 weeks from my last period.
We are estatic n excited! Smile

applepip · 28/03/2008 12:54

hi everyone, a good night's sleep has done me the world of good!

Congratulations verno, brightshinysun, goneunderground & nandos! I honestly thought I'd be on my own here for a while!

Verno, I really hope this goes well for you & that we'll be seeing more of you on here soon!

Dh & I haven't told anyone at all, not even our parents. We'd much rather wait until the first scan to be sure that everything's ok. We did this for the first one as well & although a few people said they had guessed nobody said anything directly to us so we didn't have to lie!

OP posts:
nandos · 28/03/2008 13:00

Its funny isnt it - applepip.. no one knows we are preg except our hubby/partner n members of the mumnets lol Smile

llareggub · 28/03/2008 13:05

I've told lots of people. I am incredibly bad at keeping secrets and it has been such a shock I could not help myself.

mibbes · 28/03/2008 13:28

congrats bcsnowpea, Verso, goneundergroundtillfamilyknow, nandos welcome to the thread.

If anyone asked me if I was PG before I told them I'd assume they meant I was f@t and slap them !

We plan to tell parents and siblings in about 4 weeks time but for now it is great just having a wee secret between the two of us ! Everyone else we will tell after 12 week scan assuming all ok.

My friends and I have a running joke that anyone on antibiotics is soo obviously PG so I'm afraid I can't use that one ! It is my BF coming round and she knows we are ttc so she will be watching me like a hawk.... it is going to be tricky. Think I may hide some non-alchoholic lager in the bottom of the fridge and slyly top my glass up with that instead of the real thing !

OOh am so excited that there are so many of us already ! Should we start a list to keep track ? I'll make up an inital draft but feel free to tell me to bugg£r off if you think it is a crap idea. Other antenatal threads seem to have them and I was used to them in the TTC waiitng room thread.

nandos due 01/12 DC#1

llareggub due 02/12 DC#2

hey nandos you and I are the only first timers so far - I'm sure these experienced ladies will help us out Wink

BrightShinySun · 28/03/2008 13:58

Hi all. Mibbes the list is a good idea, still feel a bit nervous being on it!!

Is anyone else getting weird pains? To start with they were like period pains which I remember from last time then yesterday they were more like shooting pains which I'm not sure if I remember and now today is more like a dull achey stretchy feeling that I definitley didn't have! Probably just being paranoid but can't help worrying!!

applepip · 28/03/2008 14:02

mibbes very organised of you! Better start now before your brain turns to mush!

brightshinysun I'm also a bit nervous, I do wonder if its because our bodies are thinking 'I remember this, if I just stretch a bit here...'

OP posts:
llareggub · 28/03/2008 16:24

Oh yes, I've had some weird not-quite-like period pain. I'm also looking very fat indeed and before I got into bed last night I swear I looked 20 weeks already. I didn't exactly have a slender figure to begin with but this is ridiculous! I suspect that keeping it a secret in work is going to be a bit tricky!

onthefarm · 28/03/2008 17:47

Am so relieved to hear about the looking pregnant already - thought it was just me.
Seem to be getting stretchy pains too, which I don't remember at all from the last two times. Also kinda feels like my stomach is full all the time....that could be the doughnuts...

Congratulations to you Nandos!

mibbes · 28/03/2008 17:49

I have also been having very 'distant' AF pains, each time I panic then tell myself it is ligaments stretching so perfectly normal. I also felt quite sick this morning and (TMI!) dry-wretched several times Shock. I really hope this isn't the start of ms, although I'd feel more PG if has 'proper' symtpoms iyswim. Oh and I have a raging hunger, am conscious that I don't want to eat loads more than usual but get so hungry I start to feel sick and faint - any tips for this experienced ladies ?
