Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Peachy · 30/03/2008 08:46

Hope you manage to get her there!

VictorianSqualor · 30/03/2008 09:06

Knitter your parents are in Oxford?
I didn't realise that.

Vacaloca, I did post on your other thread but WELL BLOODY DONE!

Mollyfloss · 30/03/2008 09:53

PAL: Good luck!

PFJ: Hope your Mum get's there soon.

Peachy: Hope your LO shows up soon.

God, sleep really is a think of the past. Bloody hips just kill me and it's such a struggle to turn from side to side. If only I could sleep sitting up that might help. My belly hurts too as the baby has hardly any room in there and kicks a LOT. Oh well, I'm 38 weeks today so not so long to go!

Denny185 · 30/03/2008 10:08

Just caught up, another baby yeah congratulations vacaloca glad all went well.

Hope your mum has a better day PFJ

Ellie - its a general girl thing I think, they can all be stroppy little madams although didnt sound like DP helped v much. Hope you have a better day today.

Went for a 2 hour walk on Fri, called the himalayan walk - as it sounds quite steep - got a text off my friend sat am and she'd gone into labour. So it worked for one of us, unfortunately just made me sore but looking at the state of the house yesterday this LO couldnt have come, so spent hours washing windows, curtains, carpets etc will finish today and then it can come when it likes.

Thanks for the clock reminder - was supposed to be at friends house for 10 - hhmmmmm and still sitting at pc

Denny185 · 30/03/2008 10:08

Oh missed PALs post - how did i manage that - good luck

VictorianSqualor · 30/03/2008 10:27

Good luck PAL. Hope things are getting started.
I have to have a day off trying to get baby to come today 'cos we have the in-laws over so have just peeled enough spuds, carrots, parsnips, chopped swede, made stuffing balls etc etc for 8 people.
Last time I prepared dinner for everyone DP's grandad had a fall so it got cancelled at the last minute, that is not happening today because of labour!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 30/03/2008 10:47

Good luck PAL - we await with baited breath!

Molly - I feel the same as you - my body hurts hurts hurts!

PFJ - hope your story has a happy ending! Keep us informed!

VS - well then I hope for your sake after all that peelig that baby does not come before your meal! Maybe after the meal so someone else has to deal with the washing up!

bunyanvillas · 30/03/2008 12:13

PaL, good luck, look forward to hearing your news! Have just made about a gazillion brownies and will spend the arvo visiting friends to offload them! Hope everyone is well.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 30/03/2008 12:18

Morning all! I've spent so long just trying to catch up on the past few days - congrats to all the new mums, making me v.jealous. Every night I go to bed hoping that I can get started and just have this baby!

Mollyfloss, I'm having the whole aching hips at night thang too, and I'm having to roll over what feels like every hour. I get horrible stabbing pains whenever baby breakdances on my pelvis and my right leg is constantly giving way when I walk, which is actually quite funny to see. On top of that baby seemed to be practising for the next World Cup last night, so much so that I was convinced it had completely turned around. This morning I am getting prods in the most unexpected places and I can't for the life of me identify any body part from another...

I'm going to take DD to see this new Horton movie in Richmond this arvo just to get out of the house. I'm 37+4 today and the hours are passing soooooo slowly - DH has been working all weekend and I'm BORED!!!!!

Went to Homebase yesterday and bought non-slip waterproof dust sheets for the couch and the pad I plan to have on the floor while in labour, and spent Friday assembling my birthing pool inbetween the living room and the kitchen. I think I'm actually as ready as I'll ever be now to do this at home. Although the midwife has warned me that because I had a PV bleed a few weeks ago that I may be at risk from a big bleed post delivery which may complicate things a little...but must focus on what I want, not what I don't want!

Sorry for the essay length post, been away for a while so needed to get it all out!

By the way I'll also be attempting to bake some chocolate biscuits when I get home, was inspired by watching Willy's Wonky Choc Factory last night...I'll send you all one tonight!

ThePFJ · 30/03/2008 12:31

Oooo biscuit!!
Yes please!

Mum update: (laughs) Ok, she had a panic attack in Honiton about 45 minutes ago and decided she was going to try and drive back to cornwall again. I decided at this point it was getting ridiculous and called the Cavalry i.e. my dad and brother in Brighton.
So, after convincing my mum its not too much of an imposition and that we WANT her to have her 2 month holiday here with me, my dad and bro are currently driving to Honition now to rendevous with her.
Then my brother is going to take the wheel and follow my dads car to Tibshelf to where I am.
Yes I know. MY FAMILY ARE MAD.
WHY do you think I live SO FAR from them

I am indebted to my dad and brother so they get big hugs from me, and looking at the bright side, at least they get to see me at my most pregnant.

Mum wasn't too happy about seeing dad again, but she knows we all love her and its for the best. Another 2 hours driving in any direction would have finished her off anyway.

o.O

Lara xxx

-still crossing her legs-

P.S. Wouldnt it be SO funny if my waters broke the moment they got here?!!

TLSM · 30/03/2008 12:44

Oh PJF your mum sounds like a right one bless her!

TLSM · 30/03/2008 12:52

Found this natural induction may have something you havent tried VS!

scorpio1 · 30/03/2008 12:54

Just checking in, Congrats Vacaloca

Millie still in there, but i'm not too uncomfortable.

Caz10 · 30/03/2008 13:24

Hi! Random crash, sorry, but I had my wee girl 3 months ago and am just getting round to tidying up a bit ...I have one pack of Boots maternity pads sitting here (oh the glamour) which I can happily post to anyone that wants them! Just CAT me and I will stick them in the post, seems a shame to chuck them out.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 30/03/2008 13:28

PFJ I've managed to move to the other side of the world from my family for similar reasons! Good luck and no doubt it will all kick off the minute everyone walks in the front door!

KnitterInTheNW · 30/03/2008 13:46

Oooooohhhhhhhhh... no VS, they're in Leicester. Facebook says that's which network you're in and I put 2 & 2 together. Blame the sleepless nights! George must be having a growth spurt, he fed practically all night last night and is now fast asleep.

We just had our first 'at home' visitors, and I'm feeling very pleased with myself because I managed to feed him without flashing too much! Was starting to wonder if we'd ever make it far out of the house cos feeding's been a bit 'tits oot for the lads' so far, not very discreet at all!

mum2b2babyroo, I've been a nanny for 15 years with loads of newborn experience, so I'm finding most of it really easy. Just the night feeds and not being able to do much after the section I'm having to get to grips with really.

PortAndLemon · 30/03/2008 14:02

We're home! Bit of a contrast to DS's birth...

2.09 am I get my first contraction. When the second one arrives I think "Hmmmm" and move to the bathroom with a magazine

by 3am contractions are roughly every ten minutes and I get DH to attach my TENS electrodes

From around 3.15 am contractions are regularly around every four to four and a half minutes and lasting fifty seconds. They get more intense but no longer and no closer together so I reckon I have a while to go.

At about 5 am I decide we need to call MIL to come and look after DS

By 5.20 am the contractions are a LOT more intense and have suddenly shot up to over a minute in duration. Call the hospital who say to come in. Wake up DS and head to hospital in car. Drop me off at around 6 am and DH goes home with DS to wait for MIL. As I get out of car, my waters go.

Contractions have really intensified now and my TENS is up to max. I get into delivery suite and midwife wants to do heartbeat trace and check progress, but the contractions are coming one on top of the other and I can't stand still or bear the thought of getting onto my back to be checked. She gives me gas and air which does help. We have a couple of contractions like that with me vitually dancing around the room saying helpful things like "Ow" and "I can't do it" and her wisely avoiding crossing a hormonal pregnant woman. Then I start getting the urge to push and she gets firm with me about wanting to check progress so I get onto the bed leaning over the back and when the next contraction finishes flip onto my back quickly to be checked.

I was prepared to discover I was a 3 or 4 and in for the long haul. I was more-or-less expecting to be a 5 or 6. I was rather hoping to be a 7. But apparently I was a 9-and-a-bit.

I flipped over onto my side and decided this was a comfortable position and I was staying like that. It did at least allow her to get the heartbeat trace going. I tried very hard not to push but the urge was irresistable. I pretty much refused to move position so she could check me again but shortly before 7 am she told me just to go with what my body needed to do and push if I wanted.

I had I think three contractions worth of pushing and then DH arrived (I'd been starting to think he was going to miss the whole thing). A couple more contractions and she was crowning, which did hurt but not the whole ring of fire thing that I'd been expecting. Tried not to push for a couple of contractions so she didn't come too fast and tear me, then we had I think three more contractions and the head was out. In between contractions I said something very inane like "this feels very peculiar..." Next contraction and I pushed out the shoulders (hurt more than the head but didn't take as long) followed by the rest of her at 7.27 am. So less than five and a half hours from first contaction to holding baby!

8lb 15oz, 57.5 inches, Apgars of 9 and 10, lots of skin-to-skin, had a good long breastfeed (she didn't appear to have watched the breastcrawl videos, but latched on beautifully anyway), I got stitched up (second degree tear as she had her hand up by her face when she came out) had a nice breakfast and a shower, and they let us out shortly before noon. So we're back home now! DS is besotted and MIL is cooking me a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge lunch.

I don't post DCs' names on MN but those of you who know me on Facebook will be able to see (and photos going up there soon) or any of you can CAT me for details.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 30/03/2008 14:18
