Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I BLOODY DID IT!!!

Not at home, unfortunately, but my lovely boy was born at the hospital completely naturally at 12.10pm. We had some decels so agreed to transfer thinking that'd be it and I would have another CS but contractions really picked up on way to hospital and he was born 4 hours later with the help of amazing doula and absolutely fantastic newly-qualified midwife who used to be doula. I PUSHED MY BABY OUT!! What an amazing feeling (despite 2nd degree tear - ouch). Physiological 3rd stage and all lovely until 3 hours later basically collapsed with massive haemorrhage so had to have 4 units of blood overnight but feeling a lot better today so back home and taking it very easy. Just thought I'd get up and give you an update after leaving you like that yesterday! Name possibly Pablo - still trying it out on him but it seems to suit him. 7lbs 14oz and beautiful black hair. Oh he's gorgeous.

Scampmum · 29/03/2008 19:57

Congratulations! WELL DONE, sounds like you did amazingly well in spite of everything - can't believe you are home already having haemorrhaged! one tough cookie. Big hug to you and your newly-enlarged family.

How are the first-borns coping with the intrusion?

bunyanvillas · 29/03/2008 20:09

Oh gosh - brilliant!!! Many congratulations to you, you did brilliantly. Liking the name, too.

TLSM · 29/03/2008 20:14

oh congrates well done

KnitterInTheNW · 29/03/2008 20:26

Oh vacaloca, well done you! ou sound so proud of yourself, and so you should be. I love the name Pablo.

PM, I went for some acupuncture to try to turn George, it didn't work but a scan said he didn't stand a chance of turning, so that's why it didn't work. I'd imagine the 'proceedure' would be practically the same. With mine, the doc started off taking the pulses in both wrists and looking at my tongue. Next put 3 acupuncture needles (very very fine, feels just like a little insect bite rather than having a needle stuck in you) along each hand and arm, 2 in each lower leg, 2 in my tummy and 1 in the top of my head. I was left for 10 mins with a sort of heat lamp over my tummy, then he came back and gave all the needles a little twist, then after another 10 mins he took them out and then rubbed various parts of my head and neck with a piece of cotton wool with some sort of oil on it. I don't know if you asking if anyone had any experience of acupuncture in general or specifically for what you're having it for, but that's my offering!

We've had a really nice day today, George was a bit more settled last night and has had a couple more awake periods during yesterday and today, and had his first play under his gym this evening. He was very excited! This morning we went to meet the other mums/babies from our NCT group, they couldn't believe how well I'm looking after 8 days. That made me feel good! Then this afternoon me & George went for a 3 hour nap, now I feel even more fab and ready to tackle night time again!

PFJ, I'm really sorry for being amused cos it 's clearly very frustrated about the whole thing, but really your mum's coming/not coming/is on the way/is very lost epic could be turned into a sitcom!

VS, you may have your BF experience called upon when I'm visiting my parents, they live in the same place you do.

Scampmum · 29/03/2008 20:32

Knitter, just been catching up - George is GORGEOUS!! You look so chuffed and not a bit like someone who's just had a major op!

Vacaloca, Potential Pablo was born on my birthday

KnitterInTheNW · 29/03/2008 20:38

I'll do the list and add vacaloca, as George's weight has an all important 2.5 oz missed off! Not sure about which day he was born though, so can you add how many weeks/days he was born on?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 29/03/2008 22:26

Congratulations Vacoloca!!! Another little boy to add to the list - wonderful news and I love the potential name!

Molly - your baby room is lovely - so pretty and girly!

VS - gosh for your sake I hope this baby comes SOON!!

Knitter - sounds like you and George are doing really well - and you make it sound all so easy!

PFJ - your poor mum! I hope she eventually gets there!

Well today I went to a surprise baby shower for me!! I thought I was gong for lunch at a friends place! I was so surprised and it was really lovely! About 20 of my friends came and spoilt me (well Baby) so much! I am such a lucky girl to have such lovely friends! It was so nice seeing everyone - especially as I haven't seen some of them in a while and probably won't for a while after the birth either! Sigh... what a nice day!

ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 22:31

AWwwww... you lucky lucky lucky thing!!!!

Peachy · 29/03/2008 22:50

Congrats Vaca- well done you! And welcome to little Pablo.

Nothing ehre, zilch, except endless calls andmessages saying 'has she ahd it yet?'. Not from poelpe like neighbours oh no....

from my Mum

Sister

best mate since I was 11

and FIL

because I wouldn't have let them know, would I?

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 22:56

Congratulations Vacaloca! that's fantastic news. Glad you're so happy with the birth. Did you not even have an epidural? How many caesareans did you have before? Well done to you! Love the name Pablo. Do you call him Pablito too?

Scampmum: Belated birthday wishes!

Mum2b: How lovely to have a surprise baby shower

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 22:58

Oh Peachy, you still have a couple of hours to go before your due date!

My Mum told me at the beginning of the pg not to tell anyone my exact due date or to tell them it's 1 or 2 weeks later than it actually is. Unfortunately I didn't do that. I suppose I'll be pretty fed up in a couple of weeks if I haven't popped and everyone is asking me

Peachy · 29/03/2008 22:59

My due date is hort by an hour though coz of clocks LOL

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 23:03

Oh thanks for reminding me, almost forgot!

ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 23:11

hehe Peachy... that has started happening to me too..lots of phone calls from family who dont normally call saying tentatively 'Everything all right there then? Hint hint'
Bless em.

PortAndLemon · 29/03/2008 23:14

Congratulations vacaloca!

Molly, love the baby room! DD will be in with us and then (probably) going in with DS, so will just have to like blue and white

Peachy, dare your DH to text back "Oh yes, she had it last week. Did we not tell you?"

PFJ, LOL about your mother. My brother and some friends once tried to drive from Alton Towers to Canterbury and ended up in Liverpool, which I thought was pretty good going.

Ellie, I think they can all go a bit loopy in the last few weeks. DS has been unusually clingy, emotional and stroppy and MIL says that DH was just the same before SIL was born.

Bah, another afternoon/evening of sporadic contractions that have now disappeared entirely. Humph.

Aaaargh, forgot about the clocks.

Sal22 · 30/03/2008 00:16

Congratulations, vacaloca!!! Brilliant birth story - sorry to hear about haemorrhage, but glad you feel better so soon. Enjoy your little one

chipmonkey · 30/03/2008 00:17

congratulations Vacaloca!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As someone who has had 3 CS's I am soooo chuffed for you!!
Lovely name btw!

PortAndLemon · 30/03/2008 03:13

Hmmm, think things could be kicking off...

Peachy · 30/03/2008 08:00

Good luck PAL

had anotjher 'failed' labour last nigt, looked up what happened and seemed baby is getting stuck on an old coccyx injury- seems it might not be such a good sign for a HB , as epesiotomy more likely.

TLSM · 30/03/2008 08:16

ohh good luck P&L

Peachy lets hope not that home birth will happen PMA!

Has a few quite strong contractions in the night now nothing so going to my MIL then the NCT sale at Tolworth

Will report later to hear the news!

ThePFJ · 30/03/2008 08:33

Good luck and all the best PAL. Am so jealous and happy for you!

Peachy I feel for you. I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Other than 'here have this rather giant bag of minieggs!'

Peachy · 30/03/2008 08:40
