ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 13:21

OMG!!!!

I just got a phone call from my mum!!
She's just passing Birmingham on her way up to stay with us!!!!

(travelling from St. Austell in Cornwall to Tibshelf in Derbyshire)

How annoying are my family!!!!
Grrrr.

-runs around cleaning more-
She'll be here in an hour or two!

This means I can now officially go into labour after she gets here and we have had a cup of tea!

ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 13:23

Hugs NEMUMMY... baby will be constantly by your side for the first 6 months anyway.

TLSM · 29/03/2008 14:29

Hi All

Well I am still pregnant, much to everyone at my houses disapointment!

Went in yesterday morning and had another big bit of show come out (nice) at one point I was contracting 4 times every ten minutes but they were "only" 30 seconds long so were not doing much that lasted for 10 hours then was examined and was told I was 1-2 cm and the baby is fully engaged I had some pethodine and then everything stopped! so they kept me in for 12 hours of nothing checked me again and still only 1-2 cm (which they have said can last for a few weeks) and have now sent me home feeling very sorry for myself as I feel I have been cheated! lol They have said they think it all kicked off because he turned which could have triggered things but now he has settled it has stopped - Nevermind though because I am not due for 4 weeks so he is better in than out at the moment and I dont finish work till next Friday (although I think I may only do half days next week to my bosses horror)

Anyway Molly the room is stunning very girly you lcky thing!

Peachy sounds promising

Scorpio see no need for after 10 hours of pain nothing (which I really think is unfair)

ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 14:36

sympathy TLSM!!

.<

xxx

TLSM · 29/03/2008 14:47

I actually said to the Mid wife " I am having contractions here arnt I they are not in my head" she though that was very funny and said the machine wouldnt pick them up unless they were real! They bought the big baby machine in and everything then nothing!

TLSM · 29/03/2008 14:51

One good thing is that he has turned and is engaged so no need for a c section

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 14:52

Peachy, your DS3 sounds very cute.

NEM: Don't feel bad NEM. it really doesn't make any sense doing a room up like that as the baby couldn't care less. It's just the result of my nesting which started VERY early.

PFJ: that's great about your Mum! But seriously, how could you have anything left to clean?

TLSM: How frustrating!!! You must be exhausted. The fact that the baby turned is a good thing though, isn't it? Don't get too down though, it's obviously not going to be too long off for you!

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 14:54

x-posts. Great that the baby has turned TLSM. I think you will see it was worth going through all that trauma if you get to avoid a caesarean. That's really brilliant.

TLSM · 29/03/2008 15:17

Molly I know would much rather him this way and at least I have tested the hospital lol!

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 15:42

All is good then TLSM! Anyway, it would have been quite early for you. You're due after me and I'm not expecting mine for another couple of weeks at least Did your DS come early?

VictorianSqualor · 29/03/2008 15:52

Molly - Lovely cute room! I've never had a nursery for any of mine, they get a 'corner'

NEM - I have thought about doulaing yeah, or midwifery, also thought that if I did either I'd want to be a BFC as well rather than one of those birthing people that doesnt know jack about breastfeeding, Realistically though I wouldn't be able to do nights and babies are often born then!
I think I'll stick to going into teaching and once DD is old enough to watch the younger two for a while if need be then I'll do something baby related, might even train for doula but not take many clients so MiL can have the DC's if DP is working.

TLSM! -Arrghhh, how annoying, I've felt that way everytime I've been at the hospital, I'm here now! Happen!

PFJ- Glad your mum has finally come

As for Rainbowdays I wouldn't be surprised if she's had the baby either, vacaloca hasn't been back since yesterday so hopefully she has had baby, no news from gemprincess either, so I'm hoping it's because Ashton is home and she's dead busy.

I've been a prat today, determined to go for a long walk up a hill I got DP to drive us all to Uffington so I could walk up this and it was raining and windy and muddy, walked about 5 minutes and the kdis were moaning and DP said it wasn't particularly safe weather so we turned round to go back to the car and I fell flat on my face.....twice....

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 16:02

VS: I'm presuming the walk was to help you induce the LO naturally...? otherwise I'm baffled as to why you would want to walk there at almost 9 months pregnant

U ok after falling? Did you land on your belly? I've tripped up a couple of times during pg and have gotten upset about it once or twice when in fact it is almost impossible to do any harm to the LO though as they are so well protected in there.

Have you taken anymore castor oil or done anything else to persuade your LO to come out naturally?

Would be great if you trained as a midwife or doula but the hours are pretty crap if you have kids. Maybe working as a BF councillor to begin with is more manageable...?

EllieG · 29/03/2008 16:34

'Lo all - missed LOADS of posts yesterday, not quite sure what I was doing. Sleeping I think.

PFJ - great news that your Mum is coming!

Molly - your LO's room is soooo cute!

I took DSD out for some quality girly time this morning, which was lovely and we got on really well, but now she is stropping about the fact that she has made herself a bracelet and it's too small, and I suggested she re-string it, and apparently that's the worst idea in the world and everything is doom and gloom. And DP has gone all smug and super-Dad about it and gave her a little pep talk about not getting angry about things, whereupon she carried on being narky and I said, 'OK if you want to have a strop that's fine but off you go upstairs to your room and do it up there' and apparently that was a crap thing to say. Grrrrr. Why is it ALWAYS my fault? How come I never get it right?

And now DP is going 'Are you telling all your friends on MN that DSD is horrible?' Grrr again.

Anyway, rant over. Eva - you have my sympathy. I have a cold too and is horrid when you can't taste chocolate. I tried really hard, several times last night, but to no avail. Made me quite sad.

Re peanut thing - my sister's DP is a doc and read a study in the British Medical Journal which said that in countries where peanuts are a big part of the diet there is a lower instance of allergies, and that in the years when they have told people not to eat them over here, allergies have actually increased. So there. I have happily munched away of loads of the stuff throughout cos no one in family has any major allergies so think is safe. Plus I luuurrrve it.

EllieG · 29/03/2008 16:38

Oh bloody hell. Can hear DSD crying loudly and attention-seekingly in her room about this fecking bracelet. IGNORE IGNORE Ellie IGNORE let super-Dad sort it out.

Why is she being attention-seeking? I took her out this morning and spent loads of time with her, and then came home and this afternoon we all went out and she and DP played mini golf. What does she want??????

VictorianSqualor · 29/03/2008 16:56

You spoiled her too much Ellie.
We get it with DD, they get into the 'I'm a little princess' mode and need snapping out of it.

FWIW, I'd have said/done exactly the same as you did.

Lol Molly, yes it was for induction! I do love that hill and it has sentiments for us but not at nearly 39wks pg in the rain!

I tried eating pineapple for breakfast, how do people eat seven of them, Nearly a whole one made me feel terrible! We've had sex twice this morning, are having a curry for tea, did the walking thing, erm...nothing more today I don't think

The castor oil was crap, I had four lots of it, one of the things I read was to do it every 4hours or something, so I tried again after the first lot didn't work doing so much every so often.

Still not even the faintest poorly tummy, I must be made of cast iron!

EllieG · 29/03/2008 17:03

Thank you VS. I tried saying that to DP but he is in far too much of a smug mood to listen - he said 'It was over with far quicker by me talking to her and giving her a cuddle' and I says, 'No, it's just giving her attention for quite bratty behaviour. I would have just sent her upstairs to have her strop in her room and then she'll calm down cos no audience'

Anyway - I was right cos she carried on crying up there for ages even after super-Dad went to sort, so clearly she wanted him to come back in [smug emoticon]

And now she's stopped cos no one is going up. Ha.

Good god have just seen that you had sex TWICE this morning! Am very impressed. I haven't had any for DAYS cos of PG/colds/his back/sore throat. No wonder I'm grumpy.

Good luck with the curry tonight. I'm having chinese chilli beef mmmmmm love that at the moment. In fact, I want it now, but is only 5 o clock.

ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 17:05

-pokes VS's tummy and it makes a loud CLINK sound-

Yeap. Cast Iron.

Mum's still on the road. She has been stopping every 30 mins to pee as she tells me she doesnt feel well today.
I feel terrible for her now!

I have been getting cramp/stitches under my ribs and around my belly every time I eat or drink today. My DP says its because of all the baby/water I am carrying and I am running around too much.. like swimming too soon after eating he says iyswim.

Ellie you have my sympathy for DSD. They can certainly go off on one when they chose can't they?
xxx

EllieG · 29/03/2008 17:11

Fucking hell he never backs me up raaaaaaa! She's come down and is playing us off against each other and I am the bad guy and I've done nothing!

I am about to have a ROW. See you all later.

moominsmummy · 29/03/2008 17:25

Ellie - can you get out of the house at all? Maybe say you have forgotten something really necessary for the baby (men don't know what babies need and what you've bought anyway) and disappear off to nearest retail outlet - either do some retail therapy or buy a magazine and have a peaceful coffee somewhere???

PFJ - so pleased your mum is on her way.

EllieG · 29/03/2008 17:30

I think you are right moominsmummy. I don't want to argue but I feel rotten. They are now both ignoring me as DP feels I am in wrong and DSD is just picking up on the vibes and is therefore all over Dad and acting like I don;t exist. It's not fair. I haven't done anything to deserve this crap. Am going upstairs to bed.

elliegirl · 29/03/2008 17:38

Hello ladies

Has anyone given birth in West Middlesex Hospital (Isleworth) and, if so, what was your experience like/how you would rate the maternity ward and midwives there? Getting closer to due date (April 19)...

paranoidmummy · 29/03/2008 17:45

oh ellie

take yourself to the virtual pub for lots of virtual vodka. seriously i hope things get sorted.

vs, i am totally shocked the castor oil did NOTHING! ur stomach must be def made of strong stuff. i am finding all these apparent natural induction methods pretty tedious to be honest... none of them do anything. i'm sure its all a big fat lie. am trying acupuncture on weds... does anyone have any experience?

ps. sex TWICE in one morning?! bloody hell, sounds like your tummy isn't the only superhero! i'm impressed!

Mollyfloss · 29/03/2008 18:12

Ellie: I hope your DSD starts behaving better soon. Maybe she's looking for attention because she knows the arrival of your LO is imminent? Anyway, just let supper Dad deal with it and find some 'time-out space' for yourself. You have enough on your plate

Crikey VS, you are going all out with this natural induction! Hope it works! I'm happy enough for my LO to stay in there until 40 weeks as everything is going ok. That said nights are getting difficult as I wake to switch sides every couple of hours due to aching hips. It seems unfair that we're woken all the time now considering we are going to sleep even less once the LO's arrive.

And, finally it seems like I don't have enough room to eat tons but the weight is still piling on. What's with that? It must be water

bunyanvillas · 29/03/2008 18:32

Hi Ellie. My due date is April 18 and I am giving birth at West Mid. Gave birth to dd there 3 years ago. Was a very positive experience APART from the post-natal care which was shocking. Largely due to short-staffing, I think, but I was pretty relieved to have to only spend one night there. However, I can't fault anything else, the midwives who delivered dd (there was a change of shift halfway through) were brilliant and I had some complications at the end which were dealt with very, very quickly. Hence I am happy to go back (plus it is very local so no fear of getting stuck in a traffic jam etc!) No natural induction methods other than raspberry leaf tea going on here - plus lots and lots of eating!

ThePFJ · 29/03/2008 18:36

My mum managed to get lost. She has spent 60 pounds on petrol so far and has ended up in Lyme Regis staying in a B&B.
This is NOT good for my stress.
What if I go into labour and she gets lost again tomorrow.
How can someone with Sat Nav even get lost?!
o.O

....gibber...foam at mouth... argh.
