before we know it VS will be in The Sun falling out of cars with no knickers on

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 13:44

I have to find another MNer to meet up with though and all the people near me don't seem to be online!

bunnyrabbit · 13/03/2008 13:49

Sorry VS too far away....

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 13:50

Ellie, I just saw you on Fb MN, you got poked.

EllieG · 13/03/2008 13:52

Ouch.

Will check it tonight.

scorpio1 · 13/03/2008 14:05

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 14:05

I have three bags all packed and ready:

A small one with snacks in like raisins, crisps, rice crispie squares and you guessed it.. mini eggs. Am hoping a birth partner will be able to grab some sarnies from a shop on the way there or from the hospital cafe if needed.

A labour bag with camera, fan, water spray, cds, flannel, two large tops/tshirts, lip balm, vicks inhaler, hankies, paracetamol (for my DP just in case), My Maternity notes, hair band,

A hospital bag/small case with big pants, a change of clothes, nursing bra, breast pads, maternity pads, dressing gown, slippers, two large button up shirts for breast feeding, deoderant, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, and a toilet bag so I can take bottles/toothbrushes to the bathroom in one carry.

For baby (in my hospital bag): a pack of 25 nappies, 3 vests 3 sleep suits, scratch mits, hat, socks, bibs, vaseline just in case.. apparently applying this to babys bottom helps remove the first poos later.

Hope that helps. My hospital have given me a 'kit list' to help me pack. It says to have the bag ready by 36 weeks.

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 14:29

Thanks for the rain cd suggestion Mum2B2BabyRoo.. I have just downloaded some soothing rain with rolling thunder. It's lovely!

VS I so would help you with your meeting but I am a bit far away.
Sagitta I am SO sorry you lost all your music. Same happened to me once.. I was soooo upset.

Ellie... I NEED Toberone now.. Damnit!

EllieG · 13/03/2008 14:50

Hats off to you PFJ - that is VERY organised. I have two bags - one case with labour and me hospital stuff in, and one with nappies, baby clothes etc.
Am not sure have packed enough stuff for me for 3 days, but I figure DP can get stuff and bring in if need extra pj's or whatever. DP has been telling me have got way too much etc but have just got what's recommended.

Sorry have finished all my toblerone now....feel a bit sick actually. Oink.

Really can't be arsed with work today. So glad I'm finishing next week as am mighty unproductive.

Peachy · 13/03/2008 14:50

Back from hosital, all OK- just pushed it too far i think. Got to keep an eye out for swelling is all.

Re the bags: other woman on the admissions unit had her bags with her as she had to stay in- she had 2 wheeled trolley cases and 2 holdalls - and she ahd been planning a HB, go presumably that was the light version???

Honestly, I take less stuff for the 5 of us when we go camping for a week!

Carey87 · 13/03/2008 14:59

i finish next week too, my replacement started 3 weeks ago and is doing all my work so im just being paid to sit here and be fat

its great!!!

EllieG · 13/03/2008 15:03

Sounds good carey! Can't say I'm doing much either (as you may have guessed )

Glad all OK peachy - you're under strict instructions to take it easy now ok lady?

bunnyrabbit · 13/03/2008 15:05

Me neither. Except I just ate so ROlos... no point starting any projects now.

Glad all is well Peachy. TAKE IT EASY!

Soph73 · 13/03/2008 15:27

Scorpio - sorry to hear your ex is being an arse again. Hope you get it all sorted soon. Wow PFJ you are organised. My replacement is coming in after the hols so I can train her & then I´m going on leave. Going home in a min thank goodness. See you all tomorrow maybe

sagitta · 13/03/2008 15:28

PFJ - that is a good list. Can you post it again in a few weeks so I can copy it

TLSM · 13/03/2008 15:35

Carey87 you lucky thing you! I have 3 weeks left and havent even found my replacement although am going along the temp route with a weeks handover!

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 15:36

Sure thing Sagitta.
Peachy having one small case, one small rucksack and a cloth bag seems alot.. but after hearing about the lady with two big wheeled cases and the holdalls, I feel SO much better.
My MW warned me not to bring too much, but I am only bringing what the hospital are telling me too.
Thanks Ellie.. I TRY to be organised.. haha.. -try-
If I were you Ellie I'd just sit back and relax.. I bet you cant wait to be at home

EllieG · 13/03/2008 15:37

I have not got a replacement yet as clearly I am so great they cannot find anyone to do my job as well as me [deluded emoticon]

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 15:38

Oh and I forgot to mention that I put nipple cream in there too.

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 15:39

Of course they can't Ellie... you iz Uber!

ThePFJ · 13/03/2008 15:43

Hm... have cravings for an apple and an egg mayo sandwich. Think its time to raid Ze Kitchen!

Mollyfloss · 13/03/2008 15:57

Knitter: The weird thing is that my fingers don't look that much bigger but the joints hurt. Apparently your joints can get swollen... In fact my rings still fit except that when it gets hot they don't come off and that kind of freaks me so i've left them off completely now for that reason. I went to the pool this morning and I think it is probably the best thing for swelling. That and drinking loads of water I've been told.

After the pool I went to Burger King. I love whoppers! I try not to go but between floods and swelling I thought I could give myself a treat Then I went and bought a bag of mini eggs (your fault PFJ) although I haven't opened them yet, wonder how long they will last....

I have to finish packing my bag. It's half done and I was supposed to finish it on Monday but with all this flood business, I didn't get around to buying the last few bits and pieces (cheap nightshirt, breastpads etc). I never actually thought of putting my hospital notes in there (duh!)

I am a bit of a singer and people keep suggesting that I sing during labour but that just sounds crazy to me!

Love the hiccup video. My LO gets hiccups all the time. I wonder will she still get them when she comes out

Scorpio: At least your ex's Mum realises he shouldn't be left alone with Reilly. Says a lot...

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 16:25

There are a few bits PFJ has that I forgot to mention! Like the hairband which having a fringe like I do you deifinitely want.
Mine is a holdall for my stuff and a smaller bag for baby stuff.

bunnyrabbit · 13/03/2008 16:40

Pirates of Penzance and HMS Pinafore.

Multiple times (I was in labour a loooong time)

northeastmummy · 13/03/2008 17:00

Don't forget to pack a bendy straw! I found trying to drink water really awkward depending what position I was in ... so I vowed to bring one next time .

Carey - definitely get driving asap. You need to build your confidence up before you have a baby to drive around. Plus you never know when you might need to get somewhere - I drove myself to hospital to have DD1 and met my DH there!!

VS - is your documentary going to be on TV?

How do I find you all on facebook without knowing anything more than your names on here .
