I found Ellie by finding the Mumsnet group (search for Mumsnet) then looking through the members and spotting someone named Eleanor who looked very like Ellie's photograph of herself on her MN profile.

I'm not actually a member of the Mumsnet group -- I was originally one of the first dozen or so members but people I didn't really "know" kept asking me to be their friends so I got uncomfortable and left. I should just have turned down the friend requests, but it was my early Facebook days; perhaps I should rejoin.

I'm part of the MN group as well and on the wall it has topics saying 'what's your MN name' so people can find others they know.

I saw Ellie on there.

It's not my documentary
Some media guy wants MNers to do it, I spoke to him about it today for about 20minutes, mainly about birth preferences/choices/ VBACs and how MN helps people find the stats and info etc to make an informed chocie which the govnt don't really have to hand, also about BFing and how some awful advice is given by HV's/HCP's etc but luckily MN has professional and laypersons who knwo a lot about it to help others.
Of course I mentioned my lovely ante-natal thread too.

If I do it I'll be recording next week, there are a few of us he ahs been speaking to, and then don't know when it'll be on TV.

PortAndLemon · 13/03/2008 18:05

VS -- are you LB from the Leicester network?

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 18:07

Yep.

Mollyfloss · 13/03/2008 18:16

VS - that's very exciting that you'll be on TV and talking about your favourite topics too.

I just had an e-mail from my cousin in Ireland who is getting married late June and I am a bridesmaid at the wedding. I was a size 8 before getting pregnant and she and her Mum think a size 10 would be best for me for the dress (I won't get a chance to try it on before). Is it realistic for me get to a size 10 in 10 weeks? At the same time I could be swimming in a size 12... I suppose at least I have a challenge which might encourage me to slim down fast

soph28 · 13/03/2008 18:16

Hello ladies!

Not posted on this thread for a while (well probably only a few days but that's enough time for about 3000 new messagesto emerge )

Any one else feel shit? I feel tired and sick and the baby keeps pushing it's head right into my pelvic floor which feels horible! Wouldn't mind if I thought it meant things were happening but still have 5 wks to go and am always LATE!

I haven't packed hospital bag yet but need to do it soon. Need to buy Arnica tablets, raspberry leaf tea tablets, paper knickers, new pjs, maternity pads, breast pads, nursing bra...oh it's more than I though, had forgotton about half these things!

The children are meant to be bathed by now but instead they are running about wild, half dressed, eating bread sticks, destroying the living room while I retreat to MN on the laptop in the kitchen and wait for DH to come home.

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 18:24

Dunno Molly, how much weight have you put on?
I'd say it's unrealistic to expect to be in a 10 ten weeks later unless you exercise loads, don't have a CS, breastfeed and haven't put too much weight on.
I'd be inclined to buy a 12, at least they can be taken in at a dress shop with only days left, you can't really buy a new dress so quickly.

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 18:27

soph, I feel shit too, I have a constant pain in the top front of my tummy where babies arse sticks out, plus as soon as I start walking anywhere it pushes down and gives me really sharp shooting pains.

I can't sleep because however I lay something goes dead and I'm desperate for a bath but daren't get in it til DP is home.(He is at his police assessment cntre today)

Thankfully house is tidy, shopping is all put away, kids have just had some lasagne (one of the ones I'd frozen for when in hospital ) and flans are cooling on the side.

PortAndLemon · 13/03/2008 18:32

Your ribcage and bust may be larger, as well, quite apart from having extra weight. Is there someone there who could take the dress in for you with a day or two to spare? What kind of style is it? I'd be inclined to go for the 12 and alter to fit.

I may well be smaller by ten weeks postpartum than I was pre-pregnancy, but (a) I was a lot bigger than you pre-pregnancy , (b) I've only put on 15lb at this point so by the time I've had the baby most of that will be gone (c) I can tell that I've actually slimmed down on my non-baby oriented bits while pregnant, so it'll be a case of getting my belly down to match (d) My breasts never went down in size from the first pregnancy so aren't likely to expand further.

I'm the same PAL, I've lost weight from other parts, my back for example, I have a ribcage again , that was mainly the HG though, and since then I haven't really had an appetite.

scorpio1 · 13/03/2008 18:38

Molly - i would be in a 10 ten weeks later; we are same pre-pg size.

I got a toblerone today

KnitterInTheNW · 13/03/2008 18:51

My thighs might be a size 10 each 10 weeks after

scorpio1 · 13/03/2008 18:55

lol

I cannot wait to be skinny again.

Mollyfloss · 13/03/2008 19:00

I was thinking of a size 12 too and pointed out to my cousin that this could be necessary because even if I slim down my boobs could still be huge due to BF. She discussed it with her Mum and they have seen the dress and the other bridesmaid has tried it on (who is a size 8-10) so it must be a generous size 10 if they decide that... I remember that my own bridesmaid dresses were on the generous size because one of my bridesmaid who weighed about 62kgs at the time wore a size 10, so hopefully if I get down to somewhere around 60 I should be ok (if it's less even better!). I weigh about 68 kilos now and weighed about 53 before pg... hopefully

scorpio1 · 13/03/2008 19:10

oh and im having that kiss song from prince

EllieG · 13/03/2008 19:41

Wear really big pants molly, and hope for the best.
My mate had her babes 11 weeks ago and although she has lost most of the weight her rib cage is still bigger than it was and she can't fit into her tops yet. Just a thought.

I found people on FB by waiting for them to find me cos I am so important I knew they would. When that stopped working I went on MN group and looked through the 'What's your MN name' topic and asked people who I knew to be my friends...made me feel a bit like a kid in the playground though

Hello soph - sorry you're feeling crap. I am too. All tired and uncomfy and hurty and HUGELY grumpy. I nearly killed DSD for breathing annoyingly this evening. Why are 9 year olds so irritating sometimes? Why am I wanting another one? Is it too late to change my mind?

EllieG · 13/03/2008 19:42

I was also thinking on the way home that maybe I should have punchy, inspirational music as well as chill out tunes. Might get me going when pushing. Dunno what though. Maybe, like 'Eye of the Tiger' or something? Or 'We are the Champions'?

Sal22 · 13/03/2008 20:06

Ever since this afternoon I can't get the suggested "The first cut is the deepest" out of my mind LOL (having cs ) Hehehe, that HAS to be with me on the day, even if only to make me laugh when I think about it!

Mollyfloss · 13/03/2008 20:15

Oh crap, I may not fit into that dress. I'll just have to do one of those celebrity style diets like Heidi Klum or Posh or Jordan...

KnitterInTheNW · 13/03/2008 20:18

I'm friends with Ellie and PAL!

PortAndLemon · 13/03/2008 20:52

VS -- your DCs are gorgeous! (sorry, more Facebooking)

PortAndLemon · 13/03/2008 21:53

Oh, and if any first-timers dont have bendy straws, get a pack in. In a year or so they will be indispensible .

Since you are all talking about facebook and so on I'd thought I'd put a picture of me in my profile for you all.
It's me all dressed up looking my most beautiful. Worthy of Vogue magazine me thinks!
Ahem. Enjoy.
