We have Veuve Cliquot chilling....

Do some of you smoke then?

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 16:02

Awww peachy.. Poor you! Here.. have a pair of my trousers.. they are stretchy!! Look!

-extends the waist band so far out that she's either a weight watchers star pupil or she's gonna put a whole tonne of laundry in there to take upstairs-

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 16:08

Do I smoke. Hmmm.

Ok. Look. Babies oxygen comes from that which is in your blood already, and has been processed. It's not the actual smoke that harms them, its the chemicals in the cigs.
I have cut right down to a few 'roll-ups' a day, which are made from Golden Virginia tobacco which has alot less chemicals in them.
Plus if mum has smoked a long while then baby is more likely not to be harmed as resistances and tolerances tend to pass on.
Yes there is a small risk to my baby, and yes I feel guilty about havoing the odd smoke every day.
My friends think I am doing great, (some of them are chemists!) and tell me not to worry. I take my pregnacare vitamins and I eat loads of fruit and veg. As well as minieggs.

So.. er..you can't tell I think about this alot can you?!
Giving up completely was just too stressful for me in the end and I couldnt. I reward myself for the days I dont smoke at all.

But yes. I smoke.
I know figures say 40% of pg women still smoke during pg. So I know I am not alone.

Please dont think ill of me.

Tell you what though... getting that off my chest, feels really good

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/03/2008 16:10

Ha ha - I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking of booze from the second baby is born! Told DH that my 1st meal after I have given birth is to be sushi and champagne! He had better deliver!!

I used to smoke - gave it up over 4 years ago now - best thing I ever did! It now totally revolts me! (Yes your typical ex smoker!)

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 16:11

Good for you M2B2BR

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/03/2008 16:12

Wow - it really is quite confessional in here today! Everyone feeling better now the got their little secrets off their chests??

scorpio1 · 18/03/2008 16:12

We are having chinese for first evening meal with our champagne ! Can't wait will feel like a lovely treat!

PFJ - each to their own just wondered.

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 16:18

PFJ - I completely know where your coming from! I used to smoke 30 a day before I was pregnant, then cut down to 2 a day (which yes I know is really bad) and now I have one maybe every other day +, and I'm sorry but that 1 every few days is my release and I already feel guilty enough as it is, but that is the person I am.

God I'm getting loads out in the open today!!

northeastmummy · 18/03/2008 16:24

Ahhhhhh sagitta ... I KNEW I was missing something. ELC - of course! I'll hot foot it down there when I'm on mat leave.

Thank you .

VictorianPASqualor · 18/03/2008 16:29

Argh, I feel so HUGE. Have just got back from lunch and am waiting for the film people to turn up.

Whislt we're talking judging, can I just say YES, DS and I did have burgers at lunch, but what you won't see on the telly is that they were from an Annabel Karmel menu

I had the most wonderful cons appntmtn this morning too, she said I can not only have my VBA2C but a water birth if I want as their monitors are waterproof and wireless.

scorpio1 · 18/03/2008 16:32

Wow VS @ Waterbirth possibility!!!

Ain't nuffin wrong with a burger!

EllieG · 18/03/2008 16:33

I am actually a man. Called Brian. And just have a thing about PG women and wanted to talk to them.

Glad have got that off my chest.

PFJ - some days I would still cheerfully chop off my own arm for a fag. It is not willpower that has made me stop but the fact that they made me feel really sicky though pregnancy. I hope I will carry on not smoking, but DP still is so have a feeling will be hard....

My friends are bringing me champers when they come and see me and the baby. The moment this one is out am cracking open something!

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 16:34

HA HA HAAAAAAAAAA @ Ellie!!!!

EllieG · 18/03/2008 16:34

Oh, btw - I have just taken first raspberry leaf capsual, so am confidently expecting labour to start any time in the next few mins.

Also bought some black cohosh, but have read scary stuff on internet and am too scared to take it.

scorpio1 · 18/03/2008 16:35

lol @ next few minutes!!

northeastmummy · 18/03/2008 16:35

When we had a tour of the labour ward they said they often have people chilling champagne in their fridge - sounds like great service to me .

Ellie - it's ok ... we're not judging you ...

sagitta · 18/03/2008 16:36

Right, ladies, I'm off. Wish me luck. One hours train now, then a glorious 12 hours on a train tomorrow with what turns out to be tonnes of luggage and DD.

Sadly will need to do some MNing work when I'm there, so I'll be in touch!

VictorianPASqualor · 18/03/2008 16:36

gemprincess I mentioned you on film, not your name but the fact that a lady on my antenatal thread had her baby prem and that the only thing I dont like about MN is that obviously I cant give you a hug, or actually help in RL as it's all virtual only.

I hope you don't mind, if you do tell me and I'll tell them not to use that bit

XXXXXX

EllieG · 18/03/2008 16:36

You mean it doesn't work that fast scorpio?
But I have my bag packed and everything!

northeastmummy · 18/03/2008 16:37

I've started noticing my tummy really tightening after I have a cup of RLT. I'm guessing it's BH but I'm still not sure what they feel like so it could just be the tea doing its job. Feels good anyway, like it's actually doing something.

EllieG · 18/03/2008 16:37

Ooo VS what else happened? When are you going to be on telly?

northeastmummy · 18/03/2008 16:39

VS - did they give you any idea of when it's going to be on TV?

BabyBratt · 18/03/2008 16:43

Peachy I saw JK this morning and that whole story just irritated me. Some people do not deserve the ability to get pregnant.

Moominsmummy, I live just off junction 22 (Failsworth) of the M60. My shop is in Sheffield though so I drive through glossop everyday to get to the snake pass.

I would love a chinese, it is the only thing that has made me sick throughout my pregnancy.

My DH had better get me a bottle of champers.

BabyBratt · 18/03/2008 16:46

My lord I can never keep up with all these threads. When should you start to have RL tea?

EllieG · 18/03/2008 16:47

Don't try and keep up - I just go with the current flow....
RL from 36 weeks I think?
