Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scorpio1 · 18/03/2008 14:38

Mw asked me if i wanted Millie cleaned - i said nope, give her to me straight away! They are not that bloody or anything.

oh & PMSL - HV said to me today ' Have you thought about contraceptives so you don't have anymore children'

I said 'well i look after them and we pay for them so its up to us'.

Cheeky cow.

moominsmummy · 18/03/2008 14:49

Scorpio - at your HV!

Carey & m2b2br - am v ignorant so had to look up on google maps where orpington is - are you really in orpington itself or just down the road in Pratt's Bottom? LOL

have just got back from MW -she was lovely - said no problem with going with DH for his chemo treatment the week baby is due even tho it's 200 miles away - so long as i take my notes - big relief that she said it's no problem

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 15:13

LOL moomin!

I know!! I can assure you definately Orpington!!!

velbels · 18/03/2008 15:18

M2BR it depends how assertive i am about staying put but yes if midwives are short on the ground they want you to go in. (Where they will be even busier than normal- very appealing!)

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 15:19

Anyone who is feeling weird about skin to skin or baby goo, don't worry.. NO ONE is judging you!
I was thinking I might like baby cleaned up a little bit before he is delivered 'onto me' but I think I'll leave it up to how I feel at the time.
Also, I have entertained thoughts about being too tired out after birth to do the skin to skin and I have asked my partner to do it first if I am too sleepy/exhausted/wounded etc

On a happy note my two old school friends have decided to travel up to see me on Saturday and they are staying over. I am so pleased, I so need the girly company since my mum is coming up late now.
I may have to sneak a glass of wine as well, I havent had a drink since Christmas.
On saturday I'll be 1 week 2 days away from my due date of the 1st of April. 1 WEEK!!!!

o.o >.

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 15:22

PFJ - you go girl!!! Ive already told DP that as soon as lo is out I'm hanging out of a window of the labour ward with a vodka and coke in a tall glass with two ice cubes and a slice of lemon in one hand and a ciggy in the other (yes I know Iknow sooooooooooo bad for me!!!)

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/03/2008 15:26

Ha ha moominsmummy - there are some strange names around here - there is road nearby called Bishops Butt!

I'm glad you will be able to be with you DH - I really hope the treatment works for him.

Carey - would love to meet up for a cuppa! Have also suggested a meet up with the Bromely crowd if you are interested!

Just back from MW and can you believe I forgot to ask about other groups in the area! Grr! My brain! Baby all fine though - 4/5's engaged! But the cheeky little monkey is a bit back to back so I need to work on that! Funal measurement bang on - 34cm.

moominsmummy · 18/03/2008 15:26

LOL Carey at image of you smoking and swigging Vodka out of hospital window whilst MW tries to deliver placenta!

PFJ - glad your friends are coming - u definitely need girlie company

I just discovered a packet of cadbury mini rolls in the cupboard -anyone want one before I scoff the lot and feel sick?

northeastmummy · 18/03/2008 15:28

Gosh yes - I'm just glad you all feel you can say what you feel on here. Noone will judge you I'm sure of that!

I felt exactly the same about both skin to skin and breastfeeding with DD1. The thought of both just creeped me out. When it came down to it, I really wasn't caring on the clean v yucky baby thing (they don't come out all gorey, just a bit sticky ). B/F was a little harder and i probably didn't ever get used to it, but I stuck with it mainly because i was made to feel guilty for not.

I would NEVER judge anyone for chosing to bottle feed - it's so important that you do what's right for you. And in fact I think it takes a lot more guts to do that than just to stick with b/f because you feel you have to like I did.

Does anyone know where gemprincess stays??

So, what happened in Jeremy Kyle this morning??

And this is a ridiculous question probably, but can anyone recommend a doll I can get for DD1's gift that she can play with alongside me and the new baby? There are some REALLY ugly ones on the market!!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/03/2008 15:28

Please excuse all the spelling mistakes... sigh...

moominsmummy · 18/03/2008 15:31

Roo - my mum lives near a village called Ugley

and there used to be a Women's Institute there..... yes the Ugley Women's Institute (bet they had people queuing up to join! )

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 15:34

M2B2BR - I am so glad that I have found someone that lives near me. My mum lives abroad, and DP family live over in Biggin Hill (which is only down the road but 30 mins there and back again in car is a long way really)

sagitta · 18/03/2008 15:39

NEM - if you want a cheapish one, I got DD a doll from ELC for Christmas. It has a soft body and hard head, arms and legs, and comes with pyjama sort of thing, a cardie, a dummy and a nappy.
There were pricier ones with a bottle I think. but this one is not too ugly. Its black, and it has pink accessories - which wouldn't be my number one choice!

In fact, go to here

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 15:39

Yoo hooo I'm back.... and I had two diet cokes so am currently high on caffeine.... bad bunny!!

sagitta · 18/03/2008 15:40

(we got the black cup cake little lucy - which now, I am trying to stuff into my bag for our holidays. She has been christened Missdoydoily

moominsmummy · 18/03/2008 15:40

hi BR - hope you felt well enough to enjoy it?

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 15:43

Ive just eat a pack of three cream eggs

(passes extras around to everyone)

Carey87 · 18/03/2008 15:45

br - hope you enjoyed it hun x

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 15:50

I did thank you. Had a sandwich when I got there. Ate it slowly and felt much better. Two glassse of water and two diet cokes. Didn't really feel like a glass of wine, although I was intending to have one.

Still got a horrible sore thoat and am now coughing .. great.. just in time for me to start my maternity leave!!

Incidentally, I keep telling everyone that one of the perks of HB is that I can have a cold bottle of wine waiting for me... baby out, wine in!!!

Peachy · 18/03/2008 15:53

NEM- jk this morning, some silly bint kept getting pg because her DH wouldn't use a condom.... yes OK he was a prat who needing ditching (she kept terminating but wanted to keep the third one) but why can't the phrase 'no condom, no shag, your choice' be taught in schools I ownder? Would save a lot of hassle.....

Just ripped my alst pair of amternity trousers on a dodgy bracketed manhole cover at school- grrrrrr! Soc an't face buying another pair but if baby is late could be a fortnight or more yet- damn damn damn! At elast I dint fall though I guess, miracle in itself.

Peachy · 18/03/2008 15:54

Oh I have champagne chilling JIC LOL (won it in a MN competition back along), and schloer fro anyone being good.

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 15:57

Carey I am totally with you on the hanging out the window with a vodka and coke and a ciggy. Placenta or no!
After goodness knows HOW many hours of hard labour I think we would deserve it!!
If I thought I could attach baby to DP's tit I'd drink the whole bottle of vodka and have done with it!!

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 15:59

Oooh lovely. I quite like shloer. DIdn't think of getting some in as alternative drink mmm.. anyway, it's been a really hard day (LOL) and I'm just exhauseted so I think I'll trot off home and have a kip on the train.

to all and catch you tomorrow.
