So not a great time for a leaving party! How could he even think you wouldn't mind?!? Agree with Scorpio - ask him to have it before you have the baby! Why are his parents staying with you?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/03/2008 19:14

Carey - I have heard it is beautiful - know someone from there actually - would love to go someday...

Carey87 · 16/03/2008 19:14

and Denny, no your not being hormonal! I would be kicking up such a stink if I was in your shoes! And as Scorpio said: do you even want them to stay? Do you have a say in it?

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 19:29

Don't worry peachy, I know the risks with castor oil, twas a joke.

I too have been OD'ing on sex and RLT though! Also just ahd a madras, the hottest I normally have is massala, but I know it aint coming.

We had a small crash earlier and it made me go into shock and be sick and have some pains so I thoguht I'd try adding to it, but it didn't work

Carey87 · 16/03/2008 19:34

were in draught season in the hope that when we do have it (im planning about a week before due date) lo will arrive soon after!

PortAndLemon · 16/03/2008 19:35

Sorry, Denny there seems to be some problem with my Internet connection here. I could have sworn that that post read having his leaving do on the Thursday after you have a section on the Wednesday, which clearly it can't do because no one (even a man)-- could be that stupidly insensitive, even without the alcoholic/PITA aspect. So clearly he must have said something else far more sane... .

The Phil & Ted's does seem to be the double buggy of choice with the RL mothers of two at DS's nursery. Personally I shall be falling back on the far cheaper "you are a big boy, you can walk" option but then DS is that bit older.

Here is another Mumsnet thread that definitely isn't a downer to tempt the isolationist among you into the wider Mumsnet community...

Im glad its not just me, thought I was just being stroppy and hormonal.
No I dont really want them to stay but Id rather they stay while im in hospital (hoping to be out by the Friday) than when i get back home as they are generally useless and i end up running around making lots of tea. Think DH (not so 'D' at the mo) is expecting my parents to entertain them as well as look after the DC - another thing coming i think. Im so cross ive lost rational thought processes

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/03/2008 20:18

No it's not just you- he is being very unreasonable! So will the PIL be gone then when you get home?

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 20:22

Oh I hope so, or at least going that day, certainly dont want them around whilst trying to settle into normal life again, they have a terrible habit of turning DD into hyper child, not quite sure how, and shes going to be high enough as it is with new baby in the house.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/03/2008 20:26

Well I hope so for your sake too! That's all you need when you need to rest and look after your new LO! I feel very annoyed for you! LOL

northeastmummy · 16/03/2008 20:27

No Denny - no, no, no. Surely he's not serious? And who has a leaving do when they're not actually even leaving??

Thanks for all the info on buggies but I was really keen to not spend a fortune on a P&T. A stroller is all I need really as DD can walk some of the time and I'm planning to use a sling then DD's rucksack for LO too.

There are some tandem style stollers out there but I just don't know anything about them. And someone said to me that the 3 wheeler tandems are a bit unstable too?

Nothing's ever simple when it comes to baby equipment is it?

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 20:51

Think you need to have a look at some of the buggies and decide on your requirements. I did lots of asking of mums and childminders in the school playground as well as trips to stores to have a look at folding/size/weight etc.

Apparently its the 'done' thing - maybe but not exactly noraml circumstances, think there may be a barny when he gets home later unless hes already realised the consequences of the phone conversation.

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 21:04

Denny, he is being a plank! Of course he can't have his leaving do then!
Did he get the sergeants job?

scorpio1 · 16/03/2008 21:05

I have my home birth appointment tomorrow

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 21:23

No hes been doing an 'acting up' role for the last few months, its due to finish as he starts pternity leave, so when he goes back he will go back to tutoring - its on the same block in the same station so will still see everyone hes working with now.

Good luck with appointment tomorrow Scorpio, have you got lots of questions to ask?

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 21:25

BTW VS how did your DH/DP (sorry cant remember) get on with his assessment the other day?

scorpio1 · 16/03/2008 21:26

i can't think what to ask

I know i want G&A; baby to be checked its breathing before handing to me (Jamie wasnt and it scares me to this day); and help with oushing stage - pant etc.

Thats it! What else shall i ask/tell her?

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 21:55

We need peachy for this....

Hmmm at what point do you need to let them know your in labour I guess (your last one was quick wasnt it), what you r recommended to supply/have to hand - someones mentioned a tourch B4.

I presume they will have lots of info for you to mull over and you could ask questions at the appointment after if nothing else comes to mind.

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 21:56

He had it on thursday and is now absolutely bricking it
Every second sentence is 'you knwo when I was at the assessment cnetre' and he is spending an ungodly amount of time (equal to my MNing ) on police forums reading about everyone that failed!
I can't wait for the bloody results!

scorpio1 · 16/03/2008 21:57

she did say that the second MW can come from helston which is a way from us...if they arent in time they ring paramedics for standby. I am rubbish at noticing when im in labour cos my pain threshold is quite high and i think its just BH or backache...

Peachy · 16/03/2008 21:57

Scorpio, if you let me have your e-mail I can send you my (checked by doula and mw) HB plan if you want?

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 21:58

Must go and finish packing, just toys and toiletries to go i think. Have a good week all catch up next weekend.

scorpio1 · 16/03/2008 21:59

yes please.
