Now I've been waiting til I was 37 weeks before starting on the deaded raspberry weed - why oh why? Let me make a huge pot right now and get this over and done with! Pleeease! I even appear to have engaged which is seriously weird for a second baby, but its back is the wrong way round . Hands and knees, anyone? By the way, did anyone see that Dragon's Den programme where a poor entrepreneurial dad was hounded out of the room for suggesting mums-to-be might like a fluffy cover for their birthing balls? I was cheering him on.

Mollyfloss · 16/03/2008 15:20

we were told at our NCT class to take raspberry leaf tea from 36 weeks and my Doc seemed to agree... although I've read in a few places you can take it before then...

moominsmummy · 16/03/2008 15:55

hello everyone - sorry been away for so long

combination of hectic time at work, DS throwing some oscar-winning tantrums and me generally feeling yuk

Having had HG early in this preg I am now feeling nauseous in the mornings again - hope it's a passing phase

also - has anyone else noticed the BH getting stronger and more painful? It used to be a discomfort - now they really hurt, I can't even talk through them and they go round into my back - ouch!

sorry if i've missed out on any major news - hello aussiediva and welcome

on the car seat thing I would say if you don't have an isofix thingy that easily clips in and out then try and get an MPV so you are not bent over fiddling with the blinking seat belt for ages and getting chronic backache (and a very wet back when it's raining) like i did last time -

Carey87 · 16/03/2008 16:17

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Finally figured out why I've felt so crap and throat has been really sore - tonsilitis!! I have two really big golf balls on either side of my neck

I started tydying up but then people popped around and now I really cant be bothered, so having a lazy sunday instead!

Cx

northeastmummy · 16/03/2008 17:19

Eh Carey - I think you deserve a lazy Sunday! In fact you deserve a lazy Monday to Friday too. You need to get those tonsils back to full fitness!

I'm sad. I just found that one of my best friends is considering a move to Oz. I really hate it when people move away. I think they'd be mad not to take the opportunity though .

How long have you been in the UK AussieDiva? I'm not surprised you found Aberdeen a bit on the chilly side . Believe it or not though, we do get some really lovely weather because we're sheltered by the mountains.

Anyone got any advice on double strollers? We were just going to get the Maclaren techno but tried DD in it this weekend and it's mighty tight!!

EllieG · 16/03/2008 17:24

moominsmummy - they sound like proper contractions to me...not that I know as is my first baby, but I did hear that proper ones hurt where BH don't. Someone more knowledgeable will know am sure.

Am really grumpy this week. Thought it was better but today I am all snappy and I want to cry. Went into work for a few hours to get a little bit done as have loads to do before finish and am feeling really anxious about it. Don't know why cos I know I will get it done, but I hate the feeling of having it hanging over me.

Mollyfloss · 16/03/2008 17:31

Carey: have a good rest and hopefully the tonsilitis will heal rapidly. You really don't want it getting worse being pg and all.

NEM: Sorry about your friend moving away. Maybe you can go and visit her someday, a great excuse to go all the way to Oz I don't know much about double strollers as I'm just having my first but my bro and SIL love the Phil & Ted's and I've heard a lot of people rave about them. The back bit is usually for the younger one but my niece who is 4 (nephew is 2) usually uses the back bit just for a rest every now and then. Otherwise it is filled with shopping etc. I've pushed it around myself with the two of them and find it very nifty but then I haven't compared it to anything else.

I've just been reading a whole other bunch of random threads. MN is so addictive, isn't it? I try not to read too much though because it stops me from getting on with things in RL and it can be quite depressing too some of the stuff you read and makes me think the whole world is like that iyswim...

Carey87 · 16/03/2008 17:48

Mollyfloss- MN is very addictive, its all I do at work at the moment.

NEM: sorry too about your friand moving away, but you will have a lovwly place to visit and stay at should you ever visit

Ive heard some good things abou the Phil & Ted's too, were looking at getting lo nan one as dp brother is expecting too, due on thursday so I'm sure it will be handy having a double at some point in the future

I finish work on Thursday, and then my mum is flying over (she lives in Slovenia) for the weekend. They say that having children of your own makes you appreciate your own parents and in my case it is soooooooo true, cant wait to see her this weekend.

Bluebella · 16/03/2008 17:49

Hi everyone,

I am due on 21st April, this is my first baby, and I am expecting a boy.

Just thought I would introduce myself, look forward to sharing tips/advice in the future!

Bluebel xx

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 17:51

Sorry your not feeling great Carey hope your better soon.

NEM - I found the side by sides a bit snug for DS too (unless they are so wide you cant get then through any door). We got a second hand Jane powertwin off ebay, dont know what its like for using yet, tell you in a couple of weeks, but plently wide enough for DS. I wasnt keen on the phil and ted as the baby is so close to the floor and therefore car exhaust pipes, also if you use it as a double theres nowhere to put your shopping.

Had a much more productive day, house clean and tidy, kids bathed already (so i can watch the ice skating), batch of spag bols made to go in the freezer, ironing all done, dog dropped off at mums, just need to pack after the kids have gone to bed. In between all this weve been junk modelling, playing garages and hairdressers - the only draw back to being married to a shift worker is the similarities to being a single parent sometimes. Roll on tomorrow when hes off for a week and can spend some more time with the kids.

If I dont get a chance to come back on this evening wishing everyone well for the week, hope i dont miss too many events, good luck with the ECV on Tue knitter. Catch up next weekend - no doubt there will be another thread by then

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 17:51

Hello bluebella and welcome - x posts

EllieG · 16/03/2008 17:53

Hello bluebella - welcome to the thread

Carey87 · 16/03/2008 17:54

Welcome Blubella!

Peachy · 16/03/2008 17:55

Aussie, this is my 4th and he was engaged for a while! Then he popped out and went transverse but is back where he should be now.

So far today, I have eaten 1 pineapple, had sex, taken all 3 doses of rl capsule, bounced on my ball and yesterday we had Chinese Chilli Beef for dinner- and hes till ain't budging LOL! Must be very comfy in there, clearly we have another stubborn one.

VS whatever you do don't take castor oil- the bowel contractions it can cause will wipe out your chances of a VBAC sharpish, it'sd known to be associated with uterine trauma / strong unproductive contractions and all the things you want to avoid.

EllieG · 16/03/2008 17:57

If you have a baby at 36 weeks does it need to be in scubu or anything?

chipmonkey · 16/03/2008 17:58

Hi Bluebella and welcome!
Moominsmummy, I have started to vomit again some mornings, horrible isn't it? Never had sickness this late before but I think it could be because the bump is higher than before and pressing on my stomach. I also feel more breathless than on my other pgs.

Peachy · 16/03/2008 17:59

It can vary Ellie, the answer is its unlikely but possible. Full term isn't until 37 weeks and you wouldn't be allowed a baby at home or in a MW led unit before that (in some places 38 weeks)- and as all babaies vary anyway, there's no guarantees. They would probably keep an eye on blood sugars etc for a day or so, etc. There's never a definitive answer- knew a baby born at 36 weeks weighing 8lbs plus (and whose aprents are 6'3 and 6'5!) go straight home- and ones at term need SCBU.

chipmonkey · 16/03/2008 18:00

Not sure, Ellie but I think it depends on what weight the baby is, whether he/she can breathe unassisted and whether they can maintain their own body temperature without an incubator. Ds3 was born at 32 weeks, was in NICU, then SCBU and left SCBU after 15 days.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 16/03/2008 18:06

Thanks - well no harm in waiting until 36 weeks then - only another 2 weeks to go!

Agree that MN is addictive and that some of the posts are downers - especially in Relationships - some shocking things I have read in there!

Welcome Aussie and Bluebell! I love Oz btw Aussie - so much so that we are thinking of moving there!

Poor you Carey - hope you feel better soon hun - just take it easy and let DH fuss over you! Nice your mom is coming out soon - are you from Slovenia then?

BTW - for anyone that is still looking for pj's - Next have some nice ones

EllieG · 16/03/2008 18:10

I will stop willing her out then! I guess I am stuck like this for a bit longer and should just stop moaning.

moominsmummy · 16/03/2008 18:27

denny - am exhausted just reading about your day! gold star for you!

ellie - they can't possibly be real contractions because I have too many things to do before the baby arrives (that's my logic and i'm sticking to it until a head appears between my legs! )

chipm -so sorry you feeling sick too - PG is horrid sometimes

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 18:52

Just needed to come on and have a quick raaaah, DH changes jobs on return from PL/Al - still in same dept - hes just phoned to say having his leaving do on the Thur after i have a section in the Wed and would i mind - course I fucking mind dickhead. My mum looking after children for us (at hers) but his parents will be staying, his reply, hed send them to the cinema, wouldnt mind so much but whenever they come stay he's always doing overtime (his mums an alcoholic and his dads a general pain in the arse) thought for once he would entertain them - how wrong could i be!! Am I just being hormonal?

scorpio1 · 16/03/2008 18:59

just tell him its not a good time for a leaving party. He could have one before you have baby, tell him you will need him there and thats it.

scorpio1 · 16/03/2008 18:59

do you even want them to stay??

Carey87 · 16/03/2008 19:12

M2BR - no, she moved out there when I was about 11 and works as an english teacher, its such a beautiful country, anybody who is into sports i'd advise to go there for holiday, and the skiing is supposed to be good too.

Well DP football team lost, so I made him a cuppa to feel better. I was sitting next to him with my cup balancing on stomach (dont worry it wasnt very hot!) and lo did a huge kick and tea went all over him!!! Ha ha ha!!!
