Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have just posted a thread so hopefully will get some responses.

SmudgeyDoodle - Thank you, did you recover well? My M/W has been very good and I have to see the consultant this time round due to tearing last time, I think they ultra sound your bits and make sure the tissue is in good condition. You will prob be under a consultant too then? You should check with your M/W. I would love to havea homebirth but am so scared of tearing again and although I recovered well I dont think everything is completely normal down there, would not like to go into graffic detail but things dont feel exactly the same! Did you recover well? I know I was in town 5 days later and by bum did feel likeit was going to fall on the floor! Did need to sit lots!
Would be good to hear your experiences.

bethoo · 06/04/2008 21:41

myjobismum - i live in Bulford which is near Amesbury which is between Andover and Salisbury. can you drive?

Alexa808 · 06/04/2008 23:57

Clairedaz, just read your news. My heart goes out to you. I'm wishing you all the best for the future and hope to see you around soon. Power hug!!

Alexa808 · 07/04/2008 00:04

CSWS, I'm stressed at the moment because of all the mess in the house. The upstairs shower's been leaking, it's an old mews house and I'm really glad no one got 'pan-caked'. Have been thinking of lovely Singapore for a while as a job option for dp and I used to work there a few years back, too. It's only temporary but dp has basically left 2 weeks ago by shutting the door behind him and blowing kisses...leaving all the mess and arrangements to me..argh.

Haven't really been sick during first trimester, am now going on 14th week and feel more nauseous than ever, all day long. Really inconvenient and I'm not much of a joy to be around as dp also took all the big suitcases 3 for him to leave the smallest one for me...only 1. Will only take bikinis and buy new

How is life for you? Are you well? It's great to see this thread extent and I kept re-reading the list with everyone's baby due dates on them. Can't believe I'm expecting my first. So excited.

BTW: Has anyone of you been doing the 12 week scan with a blood test? I only did scan they said I don't need blood and now I'm confused as the outcome may differ greatly if you do combined testing... Can anyone please clarify?

Have a good start into the new week!

Lozza70 · 07/04/2008 12:54

Hi all

Sorry to hear your news Clairedaz, hope it all works out for you in future.

We told DH's folks on Friday night so there was much excitement. MIL was beside herself as this is first grandchild and she thought we were not going to have kids at all. She phoned DH's nan straight away and said 'how do you fancy being a great nan?' and the response was 'who is this?' Luckily she got the jist of the conversation and is already knitting like a demon!

Off to N Ireland in a three weeks to see my family and tell them. Must get my sister to pick us up from the airport as I am expanding already and they will get a bit of a shock if they see me getting off the plane

Welcome Sugr!

evening everyone. I'm a bit stressed I'm 14+2 weeks and I have had another bleed bright red but quite light it seems to have stopped again. Any idea whether this is as bad as I am imagining it? All the scans a couple of weeks ago were fine

bethoo · 07/04/2008 18:12

hedgepig - i would call the labour ward or the hospital as yoiu should have been given all the numbers when you had booking in, you should be able to get a scan as soon as. it may just be your cervix bleeding. best get checked if not just to reassure yourself. i have learnt from experience that you are taken more seriously after 12 week

myjobismum still a fare hike as you are not far from Blandford which is about a 40 minute drive to here. am i confusing you more?

hansnava · 07/04/2008 18:28

hi all,

feeling like crap today. im 12weeks today and i thought all my sypmtoms had stopped, how wrong was i. i havent actually been sick yet just feel it, worse today then i have since it started.
got up this morning early to go town with dp before he went to work, have spent nearly all day wretching and generally feeling like s**t. came home dp went to work at 2pm and ive been asleep since then . still have two weeks til my first scan but im hoping if i feel like crap it means baby alright lol.

hope u all doing ok

hedgepig · 07/04/2008 19:51

thanks bethboo, i just called them and they want me to go in. I'm rhesus negative so I need to go in for a jab of anti D,

Lozza70 · 07/04/2008 19:53

hedgepig I would try and get the hospital to check it out to put your mind at rest. Hope all is okay.

sambrads I'm originally from Fermanagh and all my family are still there so I'm home about 4 or 5 times a year. We are using my niece's first birthday as a cover for going home to tell everyone we are preg. They were shocked when I announced I was getting married. They will have kittens when they get this news Where abouts are you?

I'm still feeling pretty good apart from a real niggly back which is a worry at this early stage. Going to see a physio next week to see it they can pull me back into shape. Walking about like an old lady by the end of the day

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/04/2008 20:05

Welcome sugr . How exciting to know already what sex you are having!

Good to see you back Knickers - so what date did you get?

Bethoo/Myjob - mapquest says 1hr 10 mins from Poole to Bulford.

Alexa - so you won't be having the baby over there then? One of my best friends grew up mostly in Singapore. I remember we had a massive question in our geography GCSE about it, and thought how unfair it was that she had such an advantage .

To answer (sort of) your question about scan vs bloods - presume it was def a nuchal scan that you had, and not just a dating scan? I've known plenty of people have serum screening (bloods) without a scan, but I think it's probably relatively uncommon to get a nuchal scan without the screening. There are also people who have neither (by choice). Yes, I believe that nuchal + bloods gives the more accurate result, but both are just an estimation. The only way to know for sure is with an amnio (or CVS).

Glad the move went well sparkles.

Yay for scan Rach.

hedgepig - quite probably not as bad as you are imagining, especially as it's stopped. Have you phoned your mw? I def would, or else your ante-natal dept at the hospital, and see what they advise. Did they say where your placenta was at your scan - often if it's low lying it can cause bleeding.

Phew - what a long post!

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/04/2008 20:06

Ah - x-post hedgepig.

caramelbunny · 07/04/2008 20:22

So sorry to hear your news Clairedaz, hope all goes well tomorrow.

rach010 so glad scan was good, only 2 days to go til mine, trying not to wish my life away, so scared and excited.

hedgepig hope all is ok, fingers crossed for you.

Knickers how was your scan?

Glad scan went well Knickers. Yes, I've had pains in my hips and am a bit worried as had SPD last pg - I was shuffling round in slip on trainers from Clarks by about 30 weeks!

fanvampbooks · 07/04/2008 22:31

Sorry to hear your news Clairedaz. Best wishes for the future.

We had scan this morning & was all good. Also had nuchal scan - measurement was very small & have to wait for blood test until next week, unless bad news then will get a phone call in a couple of days. Crossing fingers!

Have still got EDD of 15th OCtober (instead of 18th) so not far off. Am apparently about 12+5 today. Very strange - with DD1 could tell you weeks & days, but can barely remember how far gone in weeks now!! Best wishes to all.

Aubergenie · 08/04/2008 09:09

Hello ladies - it's been a while. I've been crawling towards the end of term (I'm a teacher) and desperately looking forward to getting some rest!

Claredaz - I'm so, so sorry to hear your news. I hope you are able to get plenty of rest and take some time to look after yourself.

I just got the results of my combined/nuchal test - 1:2500 which is a relief as, at 40 my statistical risk is something like 1:106.

Sickness has pretty much gone and it's weird apart from a few twinges in my tummy I don't really feel pregnant. Those of you who already have children, when do you feel your first one moving?

Went to see the consultant yesterday who my doctor had referred me to (due to being a "geriatric" first time mom). He looked at my notes and told me to go away back to the midwives as age did not cause problems these days! Upside was he did another scan and she was having a good old boogie. Quite reassuring as like a lot of you I sometimes can't believe I am actualy PG as now the sickness has gone I feel no different.
