Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2008 09:17

Never heard of that before sambrads, but if he thinks you've got high blood sugar then you need to be tested for diabetes.

Jambers - yes, he's self employed. I was too when I had dd, so we didn't have a lot coming in for a while!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 10/04/2008 09:25

I eat peanut butter on toast most mornings no allergies or asthma in my or dh families - but I have stopped making icecream with raw egg

Yes I like to try before I buy as I am tall and well built (size 14-16 depending on shop) and the cut for ladies trousers is far from standard from shop to shop... anyway me and dh are planning to brave Milton Keynes on a saturday so shall raid H&M.

Still waiting for full results from nuchal test and bloods.

Hope everyone is well this am

DD is 2 tommorrow so lots to do.

I want a runny egg too! Really badly! mmmmm

loulou33 · 10/04/2008 12:40

Hi all,

I am not supposed to eat any nuts as DH has nut allergy and ds not allowed nuts til at least 5. The mw said this time, the advice has changed and its up to me but i don't like nuts (peanut oil is in most foods these days anyway so i guess i'm eating nuts all the time). A friends child (5 yo) force fed my ds an almond recently (i know very dangerous, her mother was supposed to be supervising them!!!!) and there were no ill effects thank god - but i was mad as hell....not jsut the allergy but choking risk

Big mouth - my area doesn't offer nuchal fold - only blood tests for downs and edwards syndrome at 16 weeks - is that the triple test you're talking about?? I'm a bit worried because if they're crap, i have no other tests available as its too late for nuchal fold scan now (14 weeks) - did mw say why triple test is no good??

No decent shops at all round here let alone maternity shops - oh well....

must get back to work - love to you all
xxxx

Hi Ladies

Sorry I posted a few times and then stopped but our computer at home has died and been so busy at work.
I went for my scan today and all seemed well. I was 12 weeks according to the date from my last period but scan measured 10wks 3 so I am now due in November!
I am a little worried in a silly way as she says the bones etc not formed yet but clear picture of bby with arms and legs flapping, so much more showing than I imagined. My main releif is that there was only one!
Thank you for welcoming me but I suppose I should move over to November.
ps, wish I was craving Ice Water I neeeeddd tropicana and it is expensive!!

Jambers99 · 10/04/2008 13:44

Hi coolkat, glad everything was good with the scan, it's so reassuring to see the baby moving around. After my first scan my due date was put back a week - depressing isn't it! I've got another scan tomorrow so am foolishly hoping that my date will come forward a little again.

You must be only just due in Nov, so we wouldn't mind if you wanted to stay on this thread - some of the lucky ladies whose dates have moved into September have stayed. Up to you!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 10/04/2008 14:55

loulou sorry to worry you - I think you will need to speak to your midwife as to what tests are offered and why, I don't mean to cause concern. Basically my midwife said that 'in her opinion' the triple test was slightly less accurate than the NT scan so if I could go for a private scan I should do. Then I should not have the triple test as the possibility of different results (ie. one saying low probability of downs and the other saying higher risk) could leave me in a stressful situation. Her advice was one or the other, scan or triple blood test and not both.

I think I could have lived with just the blood test but dh was adamant that we have scan and we did. All any of the tests offer is a probability of Downs 1 in 380 or 1 in 3800 or whatever it is not definitive.

We are all in a lottery according to health authorities policies, budgets, priorities. In London the NT scan was standard and I had no idea it wasn't elsewhere until I moved.

loulou33 · 10/04/2008 15:45

Thanks big mouth - that makes sense and what i understood. Don't panic, you've not worried me that much and i am seeing mw in 10 days for blood tests anyway so i will ask her then. I remember last time that they thought blood tests were just first indicator and then needed more tests but i would be worried if they said all was ok and it wasn't iyswim!!

caramelbunny · 10/04/2008 15:59

Good news about scans jenwa and bigmouth and good luck for tomorrow Jambers. I was also relieved to only see one coolkat, have had twin fear over past week!

Keep hearing mixed things about peanuts. Didn't eat it while pg or bf dd as husband had severe allergic reaction to eating a grasshopper while in China! Don't ask! Anyhoo, thought I should avoid them as allergies in family but it just seems so illogical to me. Exposure to allergens is meant to stop the body from becoming oversensitive to them so I don't understand how avoiding them helps. Asked midwife yesterday and she said don't eat them. But I just want forbidden peanut butter so much. Had to hunt down and pay a small fortune for cashew nut butter when last pg, mmm.

Anyway, I'm also starting to get a 'who ate all the pies' belly, or in my case, 'who ate all the chocolate eclairs, creme eggs and pickled onion monster munch' belly.

perkypopsy · 10/04/2008 16:56

oops I had a runny egg at the weekend...very naughty but i cannot eat a hard egg - no point in it - have I done something really bad?

snowymum · 10/04/2008 17:07

nah, runny eggs are probably fine, especially if they've been pasteurised (i think they have a lion stamp on them if they have, but might be wrong). it's just in case of listeria, but again it's the government covering all possible eventualities with one simple statement. lazy.

perkypopsy · 10/04/2008 17:33

Thanks snowy Phew - so this snout and curly tail I've been growing are nothing to worry about then

Lozza70 · 10/04/2008 18:20

Evening all. Glad to hear everyone is well. I'm expanding rapidly and think I will have to tell my collegues in the office next week as at the moment they think I have ate all the pies. I'm really struggling to get into my work clothes as well so hitting Bluewater shopping on Sunday hopefully, was supposed to be last Sunday but the inches of snow put paid to that.

I got the results of my combined screening today and am at lower risk 1 in 1300 so am pretty happy with that. Cannot really find anything on the net about whether that is good or not so I suppose best left.

snowy and perkypopsy the lion stamp shows that the flock the eggs came from has been vacinated against salmonella. Just a nasty way to be ill as opposed to anything too serious as far as I am aware. (sorry food retail background hence my mine of knowledge on insignificant facts) I wouldsay the odd runny egg will not do too much harm

I eat loads of runny eggs. It's the one 'forbidden' food that I don't plan to give up, as I think that the risks are overstated, given that salmonella has been all but eradicated in the UK.

hedgepig · 10/04/2008 20:19

uggg eggs they make me sick at the best of times, I haven't touched one for over 3 months now.
Lozza 1 in 1300 sounds low to me, mine after my NT was 1 in 400 but I am decrepit! Just waiting for my triple test results before I tell my colleagues, but i have a couple of stares at my belly this week so I think some may have guessed.
My belly is stating to feel really hard has anyone else got this?

bethoo · 10/04/2008 21:08

woke up to a nose bleed this morning!blood everywhere. it is quite common i think.
Hayden had his MMR so i am on a vigil this evening whilst watching House. as i type he is speeding along with his walker thingy!
looking at him makes me so happy that i will ahve two mischevious gorgeous little people to watch their crazy and cute antics!
anyhoo House is on so will be silent for the next hour!!

NEW THREAD HERE

rowanmac · 10/04/2008 21:29

hi all
Not going well in this part of the world. Developed horrible backache and shivers 2 weekends ago, seen by NHS24 who said urine was clear probably viral fluey thing . It mostly cleared up in a few days but now told urine is full of blood and protein but not infection, hands and feet have gone all puffy and my blood pressure is up ...not yet stratospheric but climbing. I've had to have extra blood tests and I have to wait until monday when i finally get my scan to find out all the results. i've stopped being sick which is probably because I'm over 12 weeks but I've vomited for 8 weeks already and it went on until 22weeks last time. I'm mentally trying to get to a place where I don't collapse on mOnday when they tell me no heartbeat. my hearts still thumping hard though so there is hope but am i just over anxious. Going away with friends over weekend who don't have children so will keep we occupied but have to go to work monday morning and I don't think I'll be on the planet.

I'll post again on monday if I can see through the tears to let you know. Hopefully tears of relief.

moodywren · 10/04/2008 22:08

I am begining to feel I don't exist. My scan referal was lost twice, I am now 13 weeks and don't even have an appointment. Now I have to have bloods done again as they weren't tested properly and a mw phoned me to ask what I am being tested for.

Am I here? Am I pregnant? Don't feel pregnant any more so maybe I'm not.

When I lived in Wiltshire I had scan and listened to the heartbeat by now. This time nothing, Lincolnshire maternity services are crap, maybe I should move again.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2008 22:18

NEW THREAD.

If you carry on posting on this thread then you'll feel even more like you don't exist moody, as we've moved on already .

Please only post on NEW THREAD.

Sorry to hear what a tough time you are having rowanmac, and hope that Monday brings good news and reassurance.

NEW THREAD.

(Have I made myself clear yet? )

NEW THREAD.

syirin · 07/10/2008 22:24

Hi All!!! I am due in 2 weeks and feeling the pressure of being 38-weeks pregnant. Currently still deciding if I should move to a different hospital (with UCLH at the moment) as I've heard lots of negative (more than positive) stories about them. I started my maternity leave this week, almost packed my hospital bag (minus baby's stuff) and don't know how to relax Still think that I have lots to sort out before the baby comes....arrrrgh.....I hope baby arrives on due date....do you think it's crazy that I am thinking about moving hospital at this stage as I am not too happy with my current one?
