Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KSal · 09/04/2008 10:14

Hi all, pleased to see that the scans continue to bring good news.

i guess i've got to the not feeling pregnant at all phase. Tiredness has improved, no bump, no sickness (not that i had any) and can't feel anything. so my irrational response is to imagine it has all gone wrong.... can anyone reassure me? I am wondering if there was anything wrong would i necessarily know about it? or could I have a MMC at this stage.

I should probably just shut up and be positive i suppose!

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 09/04/2008 12:49

KSal if you read down a little this is how i'm feeling at the moment too, bit scary as i still have 2 weeks until my scan

Alexa i'll check those out thanks x

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/04/2008 13:53

KSal - whilst a mmc is technically possible, it would be highly unusual at this stage. I am feeling the same too - I think most people do at this stage, so please try not to worry.

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 09/04/2008 13:56

Its somewhat comforting to know others feel like this too and to be able to discuss it through rather than sitting on my own worrying about it

Thanks

KSal · 09/04/2008 13:56

Hi sparkles having trouble keeping up with this thread!!

Its a strange feeling, i totally sympathise. Although all the advice tells you this is all completely normal its hard not to worry. Also if you are waiting for your first scan i'm not surprised you are wondering how its going... i'm afraid i have no such excuse, i only had my scan 3 weeks ago.

Got my fingers crossed for you x

caramelbunny · 09/04/2008 14:41

Just back from hospital and all ok with scan

So pleased and relieved, had managed to work myself into a bit of a frenzy worrying there'd be no heart beat, think the sonographer wondered why I started sobbing when she said there's the heart beating.

Am now 12+1 and due on 21 Oct.

Thanks for good wishes rach010

Good news for you hedgepig, glad everything ok.

On the subject of movement, I felt dd around 16 weeks but couldn't decide if I just had wind. I'm sure I've felt this one moving already, little fluttery bubbles over the last week, then have been wondering if I was imagining things but it keeps happening.

MrsTittleMouse · 09/04/2008 15:12

caramelbunny - snap!
The relief is HUGE and I can finally feel propertly pregnancy.
Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting for their scans...

bethoo · 09/04/2008 16:04

i thought you could not determine sex by scan at 12 weeks as the babies body does not change (as in testes descend) until 14 weeks, up to then all babies are female.
my symptoms have gone though still tired but i think i have aneamia again.
i have been told that i have to have gtt tests at 16 weeks then again at next appointment at 24 weeks and so on. i hate it as feel faint since cant eat after 10 the evening previous. but hey ho.
all those who had gd last time, were you induced?
i am now 14 week adn 2 days and do feel bubble like feelings which if i remember i felt last time though obviously later in that pregnancy. with each subsequent preg you feel the movements earlier.
sorry if i sound like a lecturer!
this is the only chance i have had to catch up and reply in a oner as been busy getting the nesting urge already!!! been tidying and cleaning like a woman possessed!
Hayden has his MMR tomorrow!!!
hope everyone is well and i too am showing but i feel it is not a pregnancy bump so much as a who ate all the pies bump!!

MrsTittleMouse · 09/04/2008 16:08

bethoo -
DH has offered to leave lots of pie tins lying around "because then no-one will guess that you're pregnant"! He was lucky that he didn't catch me in a particularly hormonal moment...

sambrads i got my hair highlighted when i was about ten weeks. was a bit worried about it, but since foil highlights shouldn't actually touch your scalp, thought it'd probably be ok.
my bleaching dilemma is whether or not to Jolen my tummy, which has suddenly become hairer than a baby gorilla i have a strange amount of fluffy hair almost from my books down to my pubic hair. not happy about that at all!
also, been panicking about some raw salmon I ate today - foolishly! - at a sushi restaurant, as you might have noticed on the main pregnancy thread. won't do that again, as it's caused me disproportionate worry!

perkypopsy · 09/04/2008 18:15

sambrands my PG twin - I was just aboit to post saying i have been having those fluttery feelings - can't believe is true but somehow I just know is minipops flipping over - like intuition or something - is often at similar time of day or if I have been stressed or made a sudden movement or turned over in bed ooooooooh we are really having babies
my jelly belly is getting harder too - feels more "full" IYSWIM?
Better go home and have a rest infront of shit tv
have a good evening everyone

pepperrabbit · 09/04/2008 19:00

bethoo, I was induced with both of mine cos of GD, prob happen again I suspect - can't quite see them saying "oh, don't worry Mrs Pepperrabbit, we'll just let you be this time...."
I was v assertive last time and absolutely refused to be induced before 39 weeks, and it still took A WEEK in hospital for him to arrive!!! so he was only 1 day early in the end. We lost a whole week of DHs paternity leave as he had to look after DS1 obviously, and I still get upset remembering only having him home for barely a week as we got used to having 2 . (Sorry for rant)
I think this time if anyone mentions the word "unfavourable" it's knickers back on and home again for me...

rach010 · 09/04/2008 19:04

caramelbunny so pleased for you.

I felt flutters with my 1st about 17 weeks hoping it might be earlier this time.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/04/2008 19:16

Good news re scans ladies.

pepperrabbit - if it makes you feel better, dh doesn't get any paid paternity leave .

Spoke to hospital today. They want me to go back and try to do gtt again, so booked in for 24th. Joy .

bethoo · 09/04/2008 19:50

pistachio - do not worry too much. i have eaten prawns continuously and live off peanut butter on toast! the risks of eating raw salmon are very slim but cos there is a risk that is why it is recommended you do not eat it but a small quantity should be ok.
pepperrabbit - i was induced at 39 weeks adnd 3 days and though it is the only labour i have had and i hear it is more intense, it does have its pros in that i went in one day and he was born that day. i have friends who were waiting for weeks after theirs was due! sadly i do not have a choice in the matter like mo0st wiht gd. but you never know i may not get it this time round!

pepperrabbit · 09/04/2008 20:29

That was how it was with DS1 but I was 41 weeks when I was induced then - I guess it lulled me into a false sense of security that going in to be induced with DS2 would result in a baby within say 24 hours, not 6 days!!

jenwa · 09/04/2008 20:41

Hi All,
Had scan today and was so pleased to see there really is a baby in there and my belly has not just got fat due to the amount of food I seem to be eating. Also pleased as date now 20th oct so been brought forward!
The scan was so clear, much more than with dd 3 yrs ago now, looked more like a 20 wk scan. It was very exciting anyway.

Hope you all well and geting over the sickness and tiredness, I thought maybe I was until I nearly threw up today and DD tried putting my head in the loo whilst I was gagging!!!!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 09/04/2008 21:19

Have no hope of reading every post in this thread ... but from my speed reading it seems scans have been going well

I have had 2 private scans now the second yesterday on the advice of my nhs midwife

Anyone who may recall my earlier posts will know that I was having great trouble getting booked and had no due date as I was on the pill when I got pg... so we paid for a private scan (due date 16th Oct alls well!) - so I finally got a booking in appt when I was exactly 12wks, and the mw said that our area only offers a triple test for downs not a scan - and her opinion was that a triple test is inferior and if we could afford it we should have a private nuchal scan. So we did... all seemed fine there was also a blood test (not the same as triple test apparently) so I am waiting on those results but am not particularly anxious - I did these tests more for dh peace of mind than mine.

Anyhoo no triple test and we are now have paid out £260 for tests I should have been able to get on nhs hey ho - I am normally against private healthcare but in this case I felt in a bind.

I hope that my county is uncommon in its preference for triple test? Hope the rest of you are not having these issues.

Sorry I have been so long winded, I shall now go back down the thread and try and catch up!!!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 09/04/2008 21:26

Can I just have one more quick moan

There are no bloody maternity clothes to be found in Bedford!!!grrr... It is the nearest town for me (I am reliant on public transport) and apart from a few poxy rails of clothes in Debenhams and New Look there is feck all... most dispiriting as for previous pg I lived in London (and worked near Kensington High Street)- where I could find every conceivable range - bah!

emkay · 09/04/2008 23:12

Sorry for being dim... bethoo why would some people not eat peanut butter on toast while pregnant? I've been fancying it a lot recently and did think to myself, 'wasn't this on the banned list last time I was pregnant' but I couldn't remember why it would be and didn't see it on whichever list it was I had handy so I just carried on with it!

snowymum · 09/04/2008 23:36

Evening all - a mini update from me. Fell down the stairs this morning which was a bit stupid but nice mumsnetters reassured me on pregnancy thread that it was all ok. Felt fine all morning afterwards but it was a bit of a shock to the system and the first time I've really thought 'shit, must be careful, am actually pregnant.' Which is quite nice, really. Have a sore arse now, though.

Have had my scan - all seemed ok and had first bit of the nuchal fold test where highest measurement was 1.2mm so that seems reassuring. Had the best scan photo ever - little thing looks like Christoper Robin! Will see if I can upload image to my profile later on. Still due on 2nd October, the day before my birthday. Saw fingers, toes, head and heart and some natty backflips!

Next scan's date has come through for 19th May which is only 6 weeks away, which is exciting - and then it's half way through! I think this is going very quickly - do you feel that or not?

And morning (evening, night, afternoon, whatever) sickness is finally abating, in week 14 (15 tomorrow, yey). Poor corner shop man won't know what to do with all the ginger beer he's going to be left with - I have single handedly caused a massive sales spike in his shop, I reckon, and he seems to order more and more...

Erm, what else? Hospital lost most of my blood tests (well, they said they had a 'processing error', so they either lost them or dropped them) so I have to go back and do them all again. Shame, as the nurse said 'ooh, you do have tiny veins' then tourniqueted me up until I thought I'd burst.

Have bought three pairs of maternity jeans (I work from home so wear them all the time) and the best are from the Next directory - £30 so the most expensive but utterly brilliant and make me feel thin - which is worth a hundred pounds! They are the ones with the stretchy panels instead of front pockets and come with a leather belt which slides rather than buckles, so expands easily and they are quite flary/wide legged. I love them.

And finally I'm moving house in June. Good excuse to let the delivery men do absolutely everything, and to get professional decorators in instead of painting it ourselves!

Oh, and last thing - permitted myself to buy one, tiny, baby thing - a three pack of muslin squares with winnie the pooh stitched on them! I have NO IDEA what the hell you use them for, but they are cute - and muslin squares can't tempt fate too much, can they?!

Blimey, marathon post. Sorry about that.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2008 07:26

Oh muslin squares are a godsend snowymum - you won't be sorry you bought them! They can be used for mopping up milk and sick (you'd be surprised how much mopping there can be!) and if breastfeeding some people like to use them to cover up a bit too. I have masses of them (dd was sick a lot until we discovered she was milk intolerant), and use them now for mopping up the food and drink that dd throws spills.

emkay - no reason at all not to eat peanut butter, unless there is a history of nut allergy in the family. They used to advise everyone to avoid it, but the incidence of nut allergies has increased since this advice was introduced, so they now realise it was wrong and have scrapped it.

Likewise there's no reason to avoid prawns, as long as they are fresh and from a trusted source.

bigmouth - use t'internet for maternity clothes!

Jambers99 · 10/04/2008 08:05

Morning everyone, haven't been on for a while as I'm several weeks behind most of you and very jealous that you're all out of the first trimester already! I've got my NHS dating scan tomorrow (having had a private one 2 weeks ago), so keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all is still well. Congrats to jenwa, caramelbunny and everyone else with good scan results.

I've had a rotten cold this week, and can't even take a nice lemsip to make myself feel better. Luckily DH has been suitably sympathetic and has dealt with DS's night wakings and bathtime strops so I can just crash on the sofa when I get home from work.

I too have been eating lots of peanut butter on toast (with jam too, yum), since there's no history of nut allergy in our family.

CSWS, how come your DH doesn't get any paternity leave? is he self employed?

bigmouth I was really annoyed by lack of maternity clothes in shops with my last pregnancy. I know you can order online but I prefer to look at stuff before you buy it. I'm hoping this time to make do with all my old maternity stuff and hence avoid the shopping trauma altogether.

sambrads · 10/04/2008 08:37

hello ladies

can i ask a question???

my legs ahve broke out in hives and this has made me nervous as i sometimes get them and the doctor says my blood is to rich ie full of sugar so dont think this is a good thing when your pregnant????????
