Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

hi all - just catching up on many pages I've missed but just to say myjobismum I've got the Chicco Happy Snack as well and it's brilliant, I like the fact that baby can't slip down because the bit the goes between their legs is solid rather than a strap.

Be back in a mo when I've had a read and caught up with everyone.

Just wondering what you're all eating for lunch/supper? I have got my appetite back but still have no desire whatsoever to cook. does anyone have thoughts on quick healthy snacks apart from peanutbutter sandwiches and hummus and pitta? I normally cook everything myself at home but am on the verge of buying a ready meal or two. Just want to get nutrients in quickly.

Jambers99 · 03/04/2008 08:03

Wow, didn't get a chance to log on yesterday and there's pages of updates! Going back a bit, thanks emkay for the post about your sister. I've talked it over with DH and think we won't have the nuchal scan. If the test was more reliable then maybe I'd feel differently, but since you can get both false positives and false negatives, I don't want to give myself either misplaced confidence or 6 months of worry for no reason. I'm a bit of a worrier anyway, so I know I won't stop worrying about the baby being ok until it's born (and then a whole new load of worry kicks in!)

Lozza & Perkypopsy, I've also just been moved to a new job. It was all agreed in the week I got the BFP, so I have huge guilt trips about all the handover & help I'm receiving when I'm about to disappear off on maternity leave soon. Then again, if I can do a good job for the next 5 / 6 months then hopefully the company will be in a better position than if they'd never moved me at all. I still haven't told work as I don't see my manager very often (he works in a different office). Must find a chance to tell him soon and explain why I'm getting so fat!

caramelbunny · 03/04/2008 09:08

rach010 I've got my scan next Wed and felt better yesterday evening (I normally feel awful in the eve) which started me worrying too. I'm sure everything will be fine and we'll see them bouncing around before we know it.

Lozza and ronshar - so glad about your scans.

Hope everyone's well. Just about to have a quick peek on the Next site to see if there's anything left!

MrsTittleMouse · 03/04/2008 09:31

Ooo! I am so jealous at everyone who has had their scans.
Mine is next week, but DH goes away a few days after (business abroad). According to the MW we should get my nuchal fold and blood test result soon after the ultrasound, so hopefully before he goes. He is very worried about me getting bad results when he's away. I am more concerned that I am now HUGE and I have arranged to visit my family when he's gone. There is no way that they won't guess if I have no results/bad results by then. And my grandmother is tactless enough to ask/tell and is a complete gossip. If I have good results then I can tell everyone and it will be lovely though. So please keep your fingers crossed for me! It will be bad enough to make the amnio/no amnio decision without dealing with Mad Granny!

emkay · 03/04/2008 09:57

I'm hoping I've got my scan this afternoon - although the letter is a bit unhelpful saying I 'may require an ultrasound scan' (I do, I do!) as part of the 3 hour plus booking in procedure. I haven't received any other word that a scan has been booked for any other time so I'm just hoping it'll happen.
Thanks for your message Jambers - you're right about the list of worries... my colleague with a teenage daughter is still up at 4 in the morning occasionally texting her to find out where she is!! I'm sure you will be fine, DP keeps telling me, 'until we know there's a problem, don't worry about it'... but he's a man so doesn't understand why that's not particularly helpful!

SmudgeyDoodle · 03/04/2008 10:02

MrsTM, I'll keep my fingers crossed that all will go well with your scan. I reckon once you see the little bean, you'll feel loads better. I've still got no letter in the post with a scan date... Accessorizequeen hope you managed to persuade them to do a scan soon. I suppose you could always say that you're a bit worried because you suddenly feel lots better and want to check all is well?
I had a creme egg last night and oh my goodness it was delicious. Still off tea (which didn't happen last time) but drinking coke instead which I don't normally like that much. A glass of coke and a packet of Quavers is my mid morning snack when little man is in bed. Kookiegoddess how about jacket pot with beans, cheese, chilli etc Shepherds pie is quite good to make and freeze in pots ready for when you feel you can face it. One of the yummy sandwiches from the baby led weaning site is grated carrot, cheese and cumin in pitta, yummmmm. Actually might have to go and make some. Also can thoroughly recommend getting pineapple, melon, grapefruit etc and cutting into chunks and keeping in fridge.

SmudgeyDoodle · 03/04/2008 10:03

Emkay I hope you get a scan. Maybe say you're not that sure about your dates if you don't think they'll do one

MrsTittleMouse · 03/04/2008 10:38

Oo yes, that's a good idea. "My periods have been so irregular of late, I really couldn't say when my last one was".
Thank you for the good wishes. I know that I'll be reassured when (hopefully) I see DB2 on the monitor, but I want the triple test results too before I tell anyone. That's what we did with DD1, and it was definitely the right thing for us to do. Especially as my Mum told my whole family that we had "bad" results for the nuchal fold. We had normal results for the nuchal fold, but we wanted some time to think about everything before we stopped worrying and put it to one side! So there is no way that we want to be deciding about amnio in the full spotlight glare of family opinion. Bless her, my Mum means well, but unless she is told that something is a Big Secret and she is to tell No-one, every piece of information is spread like wild fire. I even phoned up my best friend last time and told him that DD was a girl (after the 20 week scan) and he admitted that he already knew - my Mum had got there first.

hansnava · 03/04/2008 11:47

hello all,

can i ask u all, does ne one actually feel pregnant?

now my symptoms have gone off i dont feel ne different to i did before i was pg. my stomach dont feel ne different although my midwife said i feel more like 14 weeks then nearly 12.

i feel like im starting to really freak out now. i had two early scans one at 5 weeks and one at 9 weeks both time baby fine but i got to wait till 23rd april (3 bloody weeks) for my 12 week scan when i will actually be nearly 15weeks.

rach010 · 03/04/2008 11:50

Caramelbunny - I'm pleased i'm not feeling like this on my own! I'm sure we will both be fine.

MrsTM - I will be keeping everything crossed for you.

I'm addicted to eating Frazzles which is unusual for me i'm usually more of a chocolate fan but not so bothered for that at the moment.

Keep the good news rolling in girls

Jane7 · 03/04/2008 11:58

Hello everyone
Can I ask a nuchal scan question? When do you usually find our results. I had the ultrasound neck measurement followed by a blood test on Monday. The scanner said the measurement was normal but I'd have to wait for results of blood test. Do they usually send them in a letter?

Lovely hearing everyone's news. To whoever asked about healthy snacks, I've got really into Ryvita spread with philadelphis cream cheese and then marmite. For main meals, those bags of stir fry are really good and if you're feeling really lazy, you can buy a little sachet of blackbean sauce or whatever and then you have a meal in about 2 minutes flat. I totally agree that although I'm hungry all the bloomin time, the idea of cooking makes me feel ill.

rach010 · 03/04/2008 12:03

hansnava - I don't feel pregnant anymore either i think we are just getting to the 2nd trimester so symptoms easing off(i hope). I have googled it so many times and found lots of women who have felt the same at our stage. Try not to worry, i know its hard cos its all i do! I think if everythings ok on Monday for me i'm going to get a doppler otherwise i'll be worrying from scan until i see MW at 16 weeks.

Lets just try and stay positive!

I really know how your feeling

hansnava · 03/04/2008 12:38

hi rach010- ive got a angel doppler and i cant hear ne thing. when i went to midwife on tuesday she couldnt hear ne thing either but she said she didnt think she would and she was trying to be clever by trying to find it, she said they dont usually expect to hear ne thing til 16weeks.

perkypopsy · 03/04/2008 12:39

hedgepig thanks for the advice - I know you are right
hasanava same here - we just have to sit back and wait to get fat - never thought I'd be looking forward to that ha ha

Thanks to Petitfilou as I didn't realise the "Antenatal Club".

Having my dating scan Friday - very nervous
as last Oct 07 had mmc.

Have had brownish discharge - panicked went in for scan at 8 weeks, doc could see baby flicker which was a relief.

Getting paraoid keep pressing boobs to see if they ache - am I mad??

Have had very minor nausea so have been lucky there.

This is will my 2nd, the first is 14 years old now and everything was normal - can't ever remember feeling like this so fingers crossed....

And they say it is suppossed to be enjoyable....

Am I the only one.....

emkay · 03/04/2008 18:03

Hansnava - I remember being convinced even after my dating scan last time that I wasn't pregnant between 13 and 16 weeks because I suddenly felt great and couldn't yet feel the baby move. It was like I had imagined the whole thing and I even felt like a fraud telling people I was pregnant. Then the butterfly flutters started around week 17... it's a strange time!

I had my 12 week scan this afternoon and it was lovely seeing the little bean stretching legs and twisting around. I'm now due on the 10th October so I feel as if I've magically gained time!

rach010 · 03/04/2008 18:21

hansnava - don't think i'll bother with doppler then, i'll probably worry even more, just have to sit tight and think positive.

emkay - how lovely for you seeing your little bean, did you have to pay for scan photo?

bethoo · 03/04/2008 21:50

i have the angel sounds doppler too. i am 13 weeks and 3 days and i foudn the heartbeat for the first time today. it was really low in my pelvis so i was obviously looking too high these past two weeks! so that is nice. i know it was the baby as it was faster than my pulse!

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/04/2008 19:43

Blimey - this is the quietest day on here since Sambrads got her bfp!

Welcome Clairedaz - how did your scan go today?

Anyone got anything exciting going on over the weekend?

bethoo · 04/04/2008 19:54

quiet weekend for me i think. was going to pop into Salisbury tomorrow but apparantly it is going to snow! but if not then i will be out. it was lovely today.

hedgepig · 04/04/2008 20:01

we have our village litter pick; which will be great fun in the snow NOT! did it last year in the rain so It should be no worse than that I suppose.

emkay · 04/04/2008 20:43

rach010 - yes we had to pay £3.50 to get a token from a vending machine! We then handed that over to the sonographer who gave us four images on the screen to choose from for our picture! Totally bizarre - like paying for a fizzy drink or something.
