Hello All. Hope that everyone is feeling good.

Eulalia, I am excited for you . It is very very happy news and I am sure that it will be OK.

MergleMergle ... Gd luck again for Tom.

I went out last night on a Studio 54 fancy dress party and managed to last from 8:30-1:30am and danced my socks off for 3 hours and had a fantastic time ! I was grumpy and a bit bitter that I could not join in all the the drinking fun, but once the music got going, I felt a natural high and NO ONE would have known that I was drinking perrier .... SO GIRLS, WE CAN HAVE FUN ! :)

merglemergle · 12/12/2004 06:20

Hey, good on you lovinit for the late night dancing.

Good luck Eulalia. I assume he will be basically pleased?

My tummy is round too. However, when the casualty nurse did all her poking she said that the uterus wasn't even out of the pevis yet. Oh. So its all that chocolate.

Re blood pressure, another really helpful suggestion, have you tried herbal stuff (eg rescue remedy) or relaxation techniques?

I'm not thinking too hard about the appointment tommorrow. I've also just realised I have the nuchal fold on Thursday and assuming everything is ok, I wanted to avoid too many scans. That'll be 3 scans I've had even before the dating scan. It just seems too many. The baby deserves some privacy!

hoxtonturkey · 12/12/2004 08:21

fingers crossed for tomorrow mergle.

hmmm, i rather suspect chocolate has made my tummy round too. but you show earlier with your second don't you???

i think i am having a combined 12 week & nuchal scan - maybe you could ask them to do that for you to minimise the number you have.

OP posts:
lovinit · 12/12/2004 11:39

There is so much that I do not know !

a) what is a nuchal scan
b) is the Dating scan the 12 week one ?

My last scan showed that I was 6 weeks pregnant although I am convinced that I should be more pregnant. I guess that at 6 weeks, it is too early to be too accurate. I live in Asia, so I think that procedures are very different. Also, most expatriates use Private doctors and so you pretty much pay per scan or else it is part of a pre-determined package. My last pregnancy included about 8 scans ! It meant that I could keep the almost month to month printed scan tracking the growth of DD .

My waistline has also started to expand ( now around 8 weeks) but like most of you, suspiciously like christmas excess !

Eulalia · 12/12/2004 12:53

Last night went well - ds wrote the Christmas card and dd gave it to him. I had added "and from a very little one". It took him a second to work it out. He was VERY happy and said no worries about his job, he will definately be kept on and basically the 20th Dec is just a formality. He can join hte pension scheme etc and everything will be secure (its a permanent job). We had a bottle of Cava - well dh had most of it :)

Good for you lovinit at your night out - I think the nuchal scan is the dating one at 12 weeks. They are checking for the nuchal folds - not sure exactly what they are but show that hte baby is growing properly.

I thought I'd be feeling more pregnant by now but I am probably just fussing.

Off swimming with the kids now.

hoxtonturkey · 12/12/2004 15:31

the nuchal fold scan is a screening test for down syndrome. they measure the thickness of the skin at the back of the baby's neck (i think), & the measurement, along with your age adjusted risk, gives you the liklihood of the baby having down syndrome. it's only a screening test though, not diagnostic. if you are in a high risk category after the nuchal fold scan you will be offered further tests - either CVS or an amnio. it can only be done between 11 & 14 weeks of pregnancy, & in the UK, it's a bit of a lottery whether you are offered one or not. some hospitals give them to everyone, some only to older mums, & some to no one so people pay £100+ privately. hth.

God I miss not being able to get pissed. It dawned on me last night that I won't be able to get properly pissed again for another YEAR!!!! I breastfed for about 6 months last time. Hells tits that's along time. I know it'll do my liver good, don't miss the hangovers....but ohhh bugger it, it's good to get hammered now and again. I'm just in jealous mode with everyone doing the Xmas party stuff.
Other than that, some bastard nicked a parcle meant for Dd, and the soliciter sends us wierd stuff to sign that seems to make no sense ( re the house). Roll on January to just get it over and done with. If I was still getting periods I'd say I was pre menstrual...now just have to own up to being a moody cow :o
Fingers crossed for today Mergle.

hoxtonturkey · 13/12/2004 01:48

ha ha re the moody cow thing ozjo :o

Hello ladies. Hope you all had a good weekend? Three more days of work before Christmas for me - fab.

I have felt sick now ROUND THE CLOCK, NON-STOP (bar a few times when I started worrying Grin ) for over two weeks now. Like you PamiNativity I am eating lots to try and stave it off. I get relief when eating and then the sickness comes back 15 minutes later. YUK. I have never had this before. Into week 9. Hopefully sickness will start to subside soon?

Scan date not set yet - haven't heard from hospital yet. Why do I keep thinking there are two littl'uns in there???????? Perhaps because I really don't think I could cope and having twins on a THIRD pregnancy would be a total nightmare......

My work trousers were a bit tight this morning - no idea if due to pregnancy or all this food I'm stuffing down!!!!

I am eating loads of baked potatoes at the moment - can't get enough of them!!!! Oh and eggs, cheese and pineapple chunks!

BabyDot · 13/12/2004 13:56

mommy d, when I read your messages it is as if I have written them myself, boy oh boy the sickness! Feel sick all the time unless eating! But have you had problems eating dinners. I can wolf a sandwich down, of a bg of crisps but when I start eating my dinner I just feel gross half through and am defeated!

Trousers were tight this morning actually, so ordered some maternity ones! Bit early I know but I could not help myself. he he he.

So... I made it through the weekend, one big dinner and dance bought the most flattering dress possible he he. It only leaked to one of my husbands colleagues, she ran up saying CONGRATULATIONS........so obviously I went all stuttery and then she said oh I just have not seen you since the wedding, but.... what are you drinking? NIGHTMARE.

When are you telling your family, aunts and uncles etc? Christmas?

One definate positive to being pregnant, I can't believe the size of my chest! he he he nither can hubby, shame they god damn hurt he he he

good weekend you guys?

merglemergle · 13/12/2004 14:00

Scan today and EVERYTHING IS FINE. So happy...

We (dh + me) were both really grumpy with each other all day yesterday and this morning and neither would admit they were worried. I was crying when the doctor said it was fine, and dh was pointing out baby brother or sister to ds...And this time we got a photo (maybe for good attendance).

However most of the people going in before me came out crying, so bad news for them. We just felt so lucky.

Thanks to everyone for all the support. It really does help!

I'm having a private nuchal fold (feeling VERY bad about this but screw it, they don't offer loads of stuff round here) and it does include a dating scan (and photo!) so I might ask if they'll take that instead of my NHS dating scan.I mean, why waste taxpayers money?

BabyDot · 13/12/2004 14:02

That is fantastic merglemergle there is nothing like seeing that tiny heartbeat! So happy for you both x

lovinit · 13/12/2004 14:40

Mergle Mergle, fantastic news ! Bring on the big bellies !

Eulalia · 13/12/2004 15:37

merglemergle - brilliant news! :) :)

hoxtonturkey · 13/12/2004 15:41

hooray mergle :o

MommyD · 13/12/2004 17:36

Fantastic news merglemergle! So glad for you.

Babydot - no problems eating dinner. Is this your first pregnancy? I can't believe I had two totally sick-free pregnancies and now this nausea hell! I developed a craving for Starbucks coffee (one a day only!) in my last two pg. Just he thought of a latte this pg makes me heave [puking smiley face]. Oh and didn't have an Indian takeaway for nine months in the last pg - bring on the chicken tikka and saag aloo now. Oh boy, I am going to be the size of a house before the end of the first trimester!

pinkmama · 13/12/2004 18:02

Fantastic news Mergle!!!!! Grin

MommyD, I too am having sickness with 3rd, and never before. Like you Babydot, I can snack all day, but getting dinner down is hard! Not sure why.

Was so p**sed off yesterday. Went to a party saturday night, gave up and came home at 12 thinking at least I will feel well tomorrow! How wrong could I be, woke up with a thumping headache and threw up copiously (first time I have actually been sick rather than just feeling it). Seemed very unfair!

MommyD · 13/12/2004 18:24

pinkmama - what sexes of kids do you have? I have two boys and the doctor said it was probably a girl this time if the pregnancy is very different from the last two. Not sure I believe her - there is a thread on here where people are sick with one boy and not another etc. Every pregnancy is different, regardless of sex of child, it seems. I thought I was very lucky with my first two and TBH I thought it would be the same this time. It is SO exhausting running round after a 2 and a 1 year old AND feel sick to the core. And, well nappy changing is a nightmare when you are in nausea hell. Grin [puke]

pinkmama · 13/12/2004 18:29

You are right about the nappy changing MommyD. I have a girl and a boy, so the different pg experience certainly doesn't fit with me. Must be hard with such little ones to run around after, at least mine are older at nearly 7 and 2.5!

hoxtonturkey · 13/12/2004 19:19

your ds is nearly 3, pinkmama! well at least mine says he is so yours must be too :o.

OP posts:
pinkmama · 13/12/2004 19:31

pinkmama · 13/12/2004 19:31
