Mornin' everyone. I'm 16 weeks and my morning sickness and migrains were gone by about week 13 or 14. So there is hope for those of you who aren't that far yet. I have my booking appointment at Queen Charlotte tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it. I don't know why, I guess it just feels more real once I have officially been booked into the antenatal care at the hospital. My paperwork says thiw appointment will be 3 hours... I can''t imagine what I might say / do / talk about for 3 hours, unles it's stand in a whole bunch of queues. Hopefully I will get a date for my 20 week scan and an appointment/referral to see the consultan so I can beg him/her for an elective caesarean.

Uwila · 14/12/2004 09:41

Oh blimey, pardon the intrusion. I posted on the wrong thread. June? July? They look so much alike. What a moron I am. I was wondering why people on here were only at 9 weeks???

Lolasmum · 14/12/2004 13:36

Hello,
Can I join? I'm due on the 15th July and have only just discovered this thread (well I discovered it last week but it has taken me quite a while to read all of the past posts!). I'm feeling sick 24/7 and can't wait for this phase to pass. My dd (27 months) has seen me being sick so many times that she keeps trying to copy me!
Hugs to Cosybear. All my friends who have had a mc got pregnant again very quickly... Apparently its something to do with the hormone levels.

Eulalia · 14/12/2004 15:31

Congrats Lolasmum

I just have mild nausea just now and I hope it stays that way.

pinkmama · 14/12/2004 17:16

Hi Lolasmum, hope your sickness subsides soon!

MommyD · 15/12/2004 11:53

Hello all!

I've cracked and gone and booked myself an early Christmas present - a scan at exactly nine weeks (next Tuesday - couldn't get one on the NHS). I want to go into Christmas knowing that things are ok. I've been having a bit of rather painful cramping on and off and I'm finding it a bit un-nerving. If everything is ok next week then I can stop worrying (just a little bit, perhaps?)
Dreamt I was pg with twin boys last night. This is getting silly!! It will be nice to know that there is only one in there - I am plagued with thoughts that there are two in there. In my last pg I got twinges on the ovary that I ovulated off throughout the first trimester - this time I am getting twinges on both ovaries!!

pinkmama · 15/12/2004 12:22

Ooh, I am excited about how many you might have in there too MommyD. Do you have to go far for the scan?

MommyD · 15/12/2004 12:39

pinkmama - North London Hopsital (Nuffield) - 15 minutes drive from home. I really do hope it is only one. I've always said I would love twins, but on a third pregnancy with two such little ones already I think it would be SO much work. And I would need a triple buggy!! How silly would that look!

Lolasmum · 15/12/2004 12:55

Are twins likely? Do they run in the family?

MommyD · 15/12/2004 13:02

Lolasmum - there are twins on my mother's side a couple of generations back. I am not sure why I have a bee in my bonnet about it, but I do!! At least after the scan I can shut up about it!!!

Lolasmum · 15/12/2004 13:06

I'm excited for you!

Bagpussinboots30 · 15/12/2004 15:19

Afternoon everyone, just sat down for the first time today at long last and have been catching up with you all.

Congratulations, Mergle, I'm glad it's such good news after such a horrible time last week. You must have been so relieved.

MommyD, lol, you are still thinking about twins! I had a dream ages ago that I gave birth to seven babies but I'm pretty sure that I'm not actually having seven though! good luck for your scan. I'm sure the cramping is probably normal. I've had a bit on and off but all is fine so I feel quite relaxed now.

I had my scan this morning and am happy to report just one little baby waving back . DH very relieved that it's not twins or more as we certainly don't have the room or the patience! My dates were bang on too so I am still due 1st July.

Other than that there is not much else to report here. Welcome Lolasmum and I hope your sickness stops soon.

MommyD · 15/12/2004 17:41

Bagpuss - has your cramping been a dull ache - like a period pain - or sharp stabbing pains? I keep getting the nasty sharp stabbing pains which worry me (and the dull ache too, but I had that with my last two pregnancies, so am not as concerned about that)

Bagpussinboots30 · 15/12/2004 17:50

bit of both to be honest. dh let me have the morning in bed last time but I think they are more bowel related than anything more sinister (sorry if tmi!). Hope yours are nothing bad and that you have however many babies you want in there!! .

MommyD · 15/12/2004 18:17

one

lovinit · 16/12/2004 00:45

good thing about being pregnant this early at this time of the year is that you can justify wearing the baggy clothes and jumpers ! I usually wear skimpy stuff in the summer and so ther ewould be no way to hide the growing waistline and boobs and belly !

Anyone out there started wearing maternity clothes yet ? I must admit , I do dislike wearing those hideous trousers that go over the bump. I am going to try and find stuff to all go under the belly this time round.

I too cannot wait for my early Christmas present scan next Tuesday ! I will then hopefully be able to wish my Mum a Happy Christmas and Birthday and tell her that she will be a Granny again !

Hope Everyone is well .

merglemergle · 16/12/2004 06:51

Good luck with those scans MommyD & Lovinit. Our last one we got a photo, but the baby's head was turned towards us. I don't know if anyone else has seen this but it is FREAKY. I think because basically it looks like a human skull on a cute baby's body.

Hmmm. So, anyway, enjoy your scans!

MommyD btw I have had both types of cramping, both times. However, I did get sent for a scan as a result of the sharp stabbing pain, as there was concern re ectopicness. This was at about 7-8 weeks, however, I'd have thought that by 9 weeks you would be getting consdierably more than a bit of sharp pain if it was ectopic?

It probably its just the ligaments being stretched and so on. (and think how much ligaments would be strecthed by twins )

merglemergle · 16/12/2004 06:56

lovinit. I am about to go buy maternity clothes. I cannot believe I am doing this. I HATE maternity clothes but I hate big baggy clothes that just make you look fat even more. Actually, pretty much anything is going to make me look fat at the moment.

I also find it impossible to find clothes that I would normally wear in maternity styles. In particular, I just cannot find nice t-shirts ("baby on board/"bun in the oven" aren't really my style) or wide leg trousers in maternity sizes. Also they all seem quite "skimpy". I don't think pregnancy styles take into account that you do basically get quite fat everywhere.

Also they are very expensive and I am deeply skint.

Rant over

hoxtonturkey · 16/12/2004 09:13

have you seen the maternity stuff at topshop mergle? it's really quite nice, not too expensive, & fairly cool (for maternity clothes...). it's on their website too.

Lolasmum · 16/12/2004 09:26

Mergle, Topshop stuff is not too bad. I almost bought a maternity top from there by mistake a couple of months back not realising it was in their maternity range. But yeah your right, as a whole maternity wear is pretty grim. I reckon if young girls were forced to go shopping for maternity clothes that would put an end to teenage pregnancies!

lovinit · 16/12/2004 09:37

I must admit that it was possible to look quite cool with some maternity clothes, it is seriously the after birth , still fat , still overweight, with huuuuge knockers look that I really really do not look forward to ! I went from 52kg to 76kg with DD and this time I AM NOT going to allow myself to get that way again ! I even had cellulite on my shins !!!! Rolls are now starting to spill over jeans though .....

Lolasmum · 16/12/2004 09:40

Lovinit I'm dreading it too. It will be the middle of the summer when everyone is wearing skimpy summer clothes!

hoxtonturkey · 16/12/2004 09:41

i looked in formes too, & they had nice stuff, but it was really expensive (£60 for a top???). and i suspect they might have teeny tiny french sizes.... luckily i have 2 friends who are a similar size to me, one of whom has just given birth & another who is about to so i've already lined myself up for their clothes.

just popping in quickly to say that Blooming Marvellous currently has lots of maternity gear in its sale. I find their stuff good for tall people!

AussieSim · 16/12/2004 16:49

Hi guys. It is nice to see lots of up beat messages lately. I guess it is a sign that we are all getting further along. I am 12weeks today - yippee, although I have pretty much told everybody anyway, and it is pretty hard to hide given my rapid expansion.

I am going to a fancy party on Friday night, being hosted by Sara and Lachlan Murdoch and I was determined to look glam. It was quite depressing at first trying on dresses, but then I found this great little baby doll black cocktail dress that is just perfect. Plenty of room for bump and if my boobs don't get too much bigger I should be able to wear it for a few more special occasions yet.

Don't you guys have H&M over there? When I was in Germany I found they had some cheap and cheerful maternity wear which was relatively trendy.
