Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
izzybiz · 28/02/2008 15:36

Would you like to stay at home? I do but I know some mums like to work.If you could manage without your wage, you may enjoy being a SAHM

On another note completely!...
I threw up today! First time in 11 weeks!
I dropped Dd off at playschool feeling really rough, doesn't help that one of the dads was smoking outside where we wait walked back home and was really sick.
I had MS with other two, and have had nausea with this one, but to get sick at 11 weeks is taking the p"^*s surely??!!

Hope everyone is ok? xx

kel78 · 28/02/2008 15:39

Treadmillmill- also depending on your dp wage you may get some working tax credits etc not sure what the wage bracket is though.

TreadmillMom · 28/02/2008 15:44

lollipopmother, you make a valid point, all my calculations are pre tax and NI so my take home would be significantly less. Stuff it, I've worked 20 years and the only time I've taken off is maternity, I'm gonna enjoy my pregnancy and my kids too.
Working can wait a while, I'm sure I'll back to it some time after DC3.
Thank you all, some real food for thought here.
I knew I could count on you.

kel78 · 28/02/2008 16:02

Also treadmillion- dont do what I did and foget to pay your stamp. I didnt even think about it as I worked since I left school went back to work full time after dd1 and only gave up work after dd2 which was 5 years later. It was only when I was thinking of getting a part time job before xmas that I was informed I was entitled to no job seekers allowance as I had just gone two years since I gave up my job and hadnt paid any stamp in that two years. Even though I had never not paid before and had paid for 13 years. Apparently it doesnt cost much but I never even thought about it.

hopefully · 28/02/2008 17:44

Yuck, I am still at work. I have sooo much to do. I'm the only person in a massive office at the moment and it's a bit odd! I hate deadlines.

Gracie14 · 29/02/2008 09:30

Morning all,

Well its leap year is anyone planning on proposing or do you think we have enough to be going on with this year

Feeling a lot better although still completely knackered after 9.30am and just want to go back to bed. On the plus side I got my nuchal fold results back yesterday and they were 1:14000 so I'm happy

Hope you are all keeping well, and good luck for all scans coming up

MissusH · 29/02/2008 10:11

Morning!!!

Great news on the nuchal fold scan, Gracie . They don't offer it on the NHS where I am so if I want it I will have to pay around £140 to go private and I can't really afford it. I can have the triple blood test at around 16 weeks I think...

On the work v SAHM front, I am really lucky. At the mo I work part time 9.30-2.30 which fits perfectly with the school run. When I come back from maternity leave my boss has agreed to let me work from home for 3 days a week and in the office the other 2 (when dh will be available to look after the lo). The company will provide a laptop etc so all good

Gracie14 · 29/02/2008 10:24

MissusH - Wow thats expensive, I can't believe the differences in what is and isn't offered around the country. Surely it should all be pretty much the same, but then I really don't know why I am surprised esepcially with healthcare in this country

Thats good news about working from home for 3 days a week, I may ask to see if I can work from home for at least 1 but I doubt I will be given the chance. Definately want to go part time but will have to work out how much we can afford for me to drop, which I would imagine wouldn't be a lot

DebitheScot · 29/02/2008 10:25

ooooh, dh has found a job to apply for. Its sounds like it's pretty much exactly what he's looking for and its in Scotland. In Glasgow. I'm not allowed to tell anyone in rl though so thought I'd better tell you lot instead.
Obviously he has no idea what his chances are or when they'd want him to start if he did get it but he's going to apply and see what happens.
Our ideal plan would be to move in Oct/Nov but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Excitable · 29/02/2008 10:30

Wow - Deb that's really exciting. If it was me, I think I'd rather move pre-baby than post-baby, but the important thing is that you can. Is he a Scot too? How long have you been living "abroad"?

mamamufin · 29/02/2008 11:24

Hi guys.
Debithescot I moved to a different part of the country at 8 months pregnant with ds. I thought it was a fab time to move. I joined lots of groups straight away such as aquanatal and parenting classes. I made so many friends that way it was great. I hope it works out for you that way.
I am still suffering with awful ms, when will I bloom I am 11+3 today? Still no scan news either. I am getting peed off waiting . Still cant travel by car without sick bucket which means I cant work. [ARRRRRGH]. Sorry for another daily rant .

mamamufin · 29/02/2008 11:25

LeonieD. Cant wait to hear if its twins. Good luck. x

MissusH · 29/02/2008 11:34

Gracie - I have just checked on the clinic website and the actual cost would be £175 The midwife gave me duff info...

Deb I moved house when dd was 8 weeks old. It was a bloody nightmare, but I think that was more because DH couldn't get any time off work. We moved our stuff in 1 day and basically he went back to work and left me to unpack and sort it all!! Weeks of living out of boxes while I coped with being a first time mum with a colicky baby who didn't sleep (niiiice)

DebitheScot · 29/02/2008 11:56

we have wondered about whether it'd better to go before or after it's born but decided after would be easier. I will hopefully finish work at the end of summer term which is 6 weeks before it's due. The worry about aiming to move before it's born is we'd only have that 6 week block to move in and so if the house sale (assuming we can sell it) got held up and/or the baby came early I think that could be stressful. I'd be a bit worried about moving somewhere so far away and going into labour the day we moved! Or on the M6 on the way!
But if dh got the job and if they said he had to start in August then we'd move then. IT would only be a possible issue if they said he had to start on the 1st Sept but I'm sure if an employer really wanted you they wouldn't force you to start the week your baby was due!
The fact that we will be (hopefully) moving closer to family should help too as they would hopefully help out with the baby and ds and the unpacking.

Dh is Scottish too, we've been here 5 years (plus I was in Worcester for a year) and we said right from the start that we'd stay about that long.

michtenstein · 29/02/2008 14:25

hi everyone
I have been very quiet - sorry

Had a scan yesterday and saw my baby wriggling around - so cute it brought a tear to my eye. And it sucked its thumb, which is what my dd1 was doing at her first scan. It really maes a difference to be able to imagine the baby.

And I am apparently a week further that I thought - so sunshinemummy I am with you now on the 28 aug. HOORAY for one less week of feeling tired and yucky I will try track down the latest list and update it.

Thought I better post again as I've just realised I didn't do mine right the first time!

charitygirl · 29/02/2008 16:14

Somebody slap me - was just on the October thread and started to feel nostalgic for the days of 'proper', all day, pounding, miserable nausea, of, oooh, about three weeks ago. Its much more manageable now.

Am feeling pretty bloody stupid at the mo - realised last night that the multivit I've been taking (thank god only for about five days) contains vit A (OBVIOUSLY!) and is not recommended for pregnant women.

Naturally burst into tears and got straight on phone to mum (who is a doctor) who reassured me that all would be ok, and said you'd have to eat 'polar bear liver' twice a week to do any harm. Which made me feel better about the baby, but still like the stupidest idiot ever. and THEN i read that feta isn't allowed, and I'd had some for dinner.

You might as well call social services nows guys.

nauseous · 29/02/2008 17:26

What can I take for a streaming cold - does anyone know?? Am 10 weeks tomorrow...

Congrats Leonie! Sounds lovely! Maybe you can introduce us all to your sonographer!

Charitygirl - you'll be fine don't worry!!! But don't wish for MS!!!! Or to go regress any further into the depths of the first trimester, especially when you're almost out!!!!!

Michtenstein and LeonieD - more good scan news, hooray

Leonie, was your scan an nhs one? Can't believe they expect £5 a pic!! At our hospital they just have a donations box, and it says that the suggested donation is £1 a pic. Perhaps that's because their pics are so awaful though - with dd I had 3 scans and 2 were unrecognisable as a baby, even the best 1 had me having to help people see what was what. Nothing like everyone else's pictures which seem so clear.

I'm still being paranoid that this won't work out. I've been looking into private scans, but they're so expensive I don't know that I can justify it really. The cheapest viability scan I found was at Lewisham Hospital for £75. But it won't change what will happen anyway. I should just be patient, and wait the 4 weeks or so that I bet it'll be....
